I have left this location a couple of times to eat at Longboard Louie's because they are out of things on their menu. Today, we went through the entire process of ordering a burger, sat down at the table, then found out they were out of burgers. They refunded us our money but not a great example of customer service. Both times I have been in it was a nightmare experience. Once there was no one at the counter for several minutes. The other time, there was no welcome or eye contact. The young girl didn't wait on me right away and then picked up the phone , giving me the "wait a minute" finger!!! I had been in line chatting with a friend to wait for the young girl to welcome us and ask us if we were ready. I asked for a small coffee and she corrected me by telling me that I what I wanted was an Americano. She didn't even ask me if I wanted any room at the top for anything in it. I even went in with a resume a short time after to see if they needed help since my experiences were awful. The manager, a female, was wearing no bra and had her shirt exposing her entire back that had a huge tatoo exposed. Her hair was not tied up and she was in the back and took a while to come out to talk to me. She was less than friendly and did not seem to appreciate me coming in. She just told me that the other store was hiring and that they laided people off in the winter season. I even mentioned that I would like to Mike, the owner but she didn't tell me when I could do that. I actually had a terrible experience here today. With that said the people who work there are lovely and kind. I ordered a veggie juice, which was terrible, it was suppose to have four different veggies in it, all I could taste was carrot. Then comes the bagel....I was super excited that they were serving gluten free bagels ( being allergic this really excited me) I got hummus, avocado and onion on my bagel which was not bad. Then the gentleman who worked there mumbled my total, I didn't hear what he had said so I just gave him my card (my mistake)...And what was the grand total for a bagel and juice.....$16.77 I could not believe it. I should of had him refund it but I was in to much shock to say anything and didn't want to be rude. Needless to say I will never go back. I am sticking to Sarahs Juice Bar...I highly recommend it if you are into raw/vegan/gluten free yumminess. I love supporting the locals...but Mother's you disappointed me today, you lost this customer. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. read more

Not local or organic. They can advertise this as long as they have ONE product being local or organic. The fruit is frozen and soaked in corn syrup and they never rotate fresh foods, just dump new stuff on top of old produce. Horrible customer service and absolutely filthy and disgusting. I'm waiting for the day that somebody gets sick from eating here. Either from the mold growing on the strawberries or the contamination of the kitchen. read more

While I was excited to enjoy Mother's, the past three visits have been unacceptable. All three times I visited around 2pm with no more than 2 or 3 other customers in the building. All three visits I ordered a smoothie and a bagel. All three times it took over 20 minutes to receive my food. During the last visit I had to uncomfortably interrupt the staff behind the counter standing idle talking about their weekend plans. I had to point out that my bagel was just sitting on the back counter - I could see it every time the doors would swing open. I could see 2 people behind the counter and 3 people in the back. Out of five people working, no one could think to hand me my bagel as I stood there waiting?! I want to 'Love My Mother' as the slogan suggests. But she is apathetic and has been neglecting me! read more

Very disappointed, not going back. They raised they're prices by 33% on the Buddha Bowl over night. So, $12 for quinoa and a couple veggies. We ordered 2 of them and both ended up across the parking lot at Longboard Louie's because we were both still hungry. AMAZING! read more

I learned today that trendy popular places to eat tend to suck. Mothers Cafe on the Eastside? Yeah, never again. I still can't believe I even stayed to eat in there, we'd been on our way to Longboard Louie's when we decided to try something new. $25 for 3 sandwiches, one of which was (supposed to be) a plain grilled cheese... We didn't even order any sides or drinks! Every single table in there was nasty, we had to search to find the cleanest one. We happened to sit where we could see back into the kitchen area, since that one table seemed to be the cleanest. There was trash all over the floor & it looked so messy. When we got our food, seriously, plain ol' bread. I thought for almost $9 per sandwich, they'd be..., Idk, bigger?? Maybe something I didn't already have in my own kitchen? Nope, regular processed and/or super thinly sliced deli meat. I could have bought my own Oscar Meyer chicken at Walmart & saved some cash had I known what I was getting! Then, they bring my daughter's grilled cheese with tomatoes & crap on it. Uh, hello? my 10 year old ordered this herself, and you never bothered to ask if she wanted anything on her grilled cheese. So then we get crap from the girl for asking her for a new sandwich. While we waited, my daughter brought my husband & I each a glass of water. I didn't even look at my glass, but I should have. There was crusty crap & HAIR stuck to the rim of the glass opposite of the side of the glass I was drinking from!! My husband almost sprayed his water when he saw mine, it was enough to turn our stomachs. And never once did that twit behind the counter check on us, maybe she knew we wouldn't be coming back so she didn't need to. Really, the sandwiches were ok, but I've honestly made better myself & I was not impressed. Nothing that blew me away in a good way. read more

Great morning. Sandwiches with the kids. Juice special so so good. Everything so fresh and delicious! Brought dog. Got water and love by all. A simple thing as a grilled cheese transformed into rosemary toasted bread with fresh tomato and gooey cheese awesomeness! I will be back, probably tomorrow. read more

I am not a Yelper or reviewer on any sites until now. I purchased a Mother Clucker sandwich to go today. When I got home and opened the wrapper I noticed the bread was broken. It was broken because it was old and stale. This is standard loaf bread that you would buy at a supermarket. The avocado was brown, the greens limp and the amount of sliced chicken was abyssal considering the $8.75 price. I wouldn't have paid half the price for this sorry sandwich. I was just going to send them an email to let them know they may have a problem but their website does not have that capability. So, here I am, hoping the management wakes up and pays attention to their business. I think this would be important to them as this shop is surrounded by restaurants and is in fact next to a Togo's. read more

I got the Roasted Veggie Bowl which according to the menu is roasted squash, tomato, carrot, onion and red pepper served on a bed of brown rice with pesto on top. What I got was a bowl of brown rice with 3 carrot slices, a couple of red pepper slices, a couple blobs of tomato, undetectable onions and no squash. What veggies there were didn't look roasted. I was expecting a big pile of roasted veggies not a few pathetic pieces mixed in a bunch of rice. It also had a sour taste which I had to try to cover with hot sauce. A very big let down. read more

The atmosphere was clean (sterile?) and the staff was friendly enough to earn more than one star, however, the food was so comically poor that it negated at least one star! I ordered the daily special: a cup of cream of broccoli potato soup and half of a chicken curry salad sandwich. What I received was: a cup of tepid mushroom jello with occasional decomposed green matter I assume was, at some point in it's existence, broccoli. A delightful, pulverized chicken spread mixed with mayo and curry powder smeared on dry toast is apparently what passes as chicken curry salad. I imagine it's not unlike what cat food in India would taste like. My date had the misfortune of ordering the soup as well, in addition to the "Falafel" sandwich. After a tablespoon of salt in his, and a heavy dose of sriracha in mine, we managed to choke down most of the soup. His sandwich was laughable. The cukes and onion were fresh enough, but rather than actual falafel, three cold, solid grey pucks of black bean mash drizzled with tzatziki sauce. Not a chickpea to be found. After living and dining in Bend for over 10 years, this was by far the worst eating experience ever. I should have just burned the 30 dollars they charged for that mess and gone hungry. read more

First time ever eating at any Mother's Cafe. I had the grilled cheese sandwich, which was moderately priced at almost $6. One of the BEST grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. It had 3 different cheeses and tomato, but what elevated this sandwich to angelic proportions was the garlic aioli. One might think "Ew. Garlic mayo on a grilled cheese???" Let me just say this.... NOMNOMNOM!!! While I was disappointed to learn they were out of the rosemary bread (rosemary bread is like crack to me) the marbled rye was pretty good. It was a good sized sandwich too. I ate half and put the rest away for later. I really think this sammie would pair well with the tomato basil soup. Next time I go, I will probably get the half sandwich/soup combo, for $8.50. I can see what others are saying about the employees. The counter person was neither helpful nor non-helpful. She took my order and brought it to me, with a smile, but made no special effort to help out an obvious newbie (me). read more

My wife enjoys this place... but each time I've been in there it has been an experience I do not understand. Today was no exception. Went there around 12:50pm. On the door it says Sunday close 3ish. Ok no problem. I walk in and the young woman is helping a customer with some juice bottles. Doesn't acknowledge me, just helps him then walks away. Alright... maybe she has something to do. Comes back to the counter a couple minutes later, "Oh were closed." I'm a bit caught off guard. "It says 3ish on the door." Yeah well I'm closing now." Not in I'm sorry tone, but in a tone that I'm interrupting her day. That by me wanting spend money in her store, I'm causing her stress. I will never go back here again, even though I love the winter banana smoothies. People will come for the food, but come back for the service.... this place has zero idea of what service is. Stay away.... they get a 2 star for the smoothies only. read more
