===TL;DR=== - Mango matcha latte ===TMI=== Stepped in for a quick pick me up. Small shop, kiosk touchscreen ordering. They have a good variety for their menu size. Meter and street parking available nearby. The drink was good overall. The only part caught me by surprise was the mango. Not sure if it was intentional or season related but I thought the mango bits were on the crunchier harder side. I typically like my mangos more ripe so that took a minute to get use to. Other than that, they give a generous amount of mango, enough to finish the rest of the matcha drinks with (unlike other places, 2-3 sips later, you're only left with a plain matcha latte).
I had been wanting to try this matcha cafe for a while and I finally went! I ordered the strawberry matcha and it wasn't the greatest nor best marcha I've had. It was slightly watery and the strawberry flavor wasn't very strong and needed to be a bit more sweetened. The cafe is a bit small and location isn't tobut the staff was friendly. I'd still come back though to try their other drinks!
Been meaning to try this spot! Love how more specialty matcha spots are coming to the city. Our orders: -Matcha Latte w Mochi, 50% sweet: $0.50 extra for hokkaido milk but it made it SO creamy. The matcha flavor was strong and balanced well with the milk option. Mochi could have been smoother; it was kind of grainy and very chunky -Vienna Matcha Latte, 25% sweet: lighter matcha flavor. very sweet even though we lowered the sweetness a lot. not much matcha flavor-- it was hidden behind the vanilla cream. A few spots to sit inside but it's more of a pick up and go spot. Next time would just order the regular matcha latte or try the strawberry matcha latte.
The matcha here is absolutely top notch. Today I was recommended mango matcha latte and I swapped to almond milk because I'm lactose intolerant. The options are whole, oat, almond, soy, Hokkaido milk. The mango bits at the bottom are very sweet and fresh. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards.

It's a small little shop and you order through a kiosk. At the time we were there, it was only one worker. She was great and handled all the drinks very well. Personally, I thought the drink itself was good but wasn't very strong in matcha. I wish it had more of that bitter/tea taste. It was very smooth and rich. Would I come again? Ehh maybe if I'm in the area, I wouldn't make the drive just to come here for matcha.

I remember seeing them recently open on social media, so I was excited to try this place for dessert. There is a kiosk to order from, but sadly they were sold out of their soft serves that day. We got our order in a few minutes, but I am sad about the customer service. There's no one to greet you when you enter, and the person who handed our drinks wasn't friendly when I said thank you. I tried their cream cheese matcha latte and enjoyed it overall. The matcha taste was not as strong as I had hoped, but it was smooth and earthy. The cream cheese foam did add a richness to it that made the drink feel more indulgen and dessert-like. Unique and satisfying matcha drink!

Moriwa is still in its "soft opening" phase with limited options. Didn't get a chance to talk to anyone as ordering was completed through the kiosk. I opted for the strawberry matcha latte with 0% sugar and light ice. I enjoyed my drink because I'm sensitive to sweet drinks and many may have different opinions but the strawberry puree really brought just the right amount of sweetness for me. The matcha flavor could've been slightly stronger, but overall, no complaints. The shop isn't designed for lingering, the design is more of a "grab and go". Located in a residential area with other restaurants all along Taraval. Price points are competitive and reasonable. Looking forward to trying other drinks next time I'm in the area. #51/2025

The drinks came out in a timely manner and they looked nice and the matcha was very green. Taste wise as okay, I couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, maybe the matcha they use? It was off. They were very new so hopefully they worked out any kinks they had. Space inside was small, limited seatng. Parking: Street.
Moriwa Matcha is a new matcha drink shop on Taraval between 22nd and 21st Ave. They just opened December 2025 and are currently in their soft opening stage. The shop is tiny with very limited seating, so it's mainly to-go. They offer a variety of matcha lattes including the strawberry matcha latte, brown sugar matcha latte, plus a matcha frappucino. I came on a rainy Sunday and there was no line. You can either order at their kiosk or at the counter. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with light ice (there is no option for no ice). The drink was just okay. I didn't taste a strong matcha flavor, and although the additional strawberry purée was good, for me, the overall the drink wasn't sweet enough (I didn't modify the sweetness level). My friend got the hot matcha latte, which she thought was okay. Service was okay. I had asked the worker some questions, but she had a hard time hearing me from behind the drink making counter. They do have a reward system if you enter a phone number, but she said I didn't enter it in time. There is no street parking infront of the shop so you would need to find parking on the side streets.
Stopped by to try the brown sugar matcha with boba I thought it was decent. The first time I tried to stab the straw in, the matcha overflowed. The barista helped me pour some out and reseal.

Pretty good! Reminds me of True Matcha from Las Vegas. Definitely superior to the average matcha spot, the matcha is pretty good quality. The double matcha is the most matcha forward. I get my usual 25% sweetness here and it is barely sweet just how I like it. My favorite is to have the matcha latte with strawberry with the matcha cream.

So many matcha places popping up. Kiddo enjoys her matcha, so we had to check this one out. Kiddo ordered the Double Matcha Cream Latte and I went with the Mango Matcha. Good mango flavor with chopped mango at the bottom - just hard to slurp through the straw. Not sure what the double matcha included but good matcha flavor. They were enjoyable drinks. read more
4 to 4.5 but I'll round up to 5 stars. I've come in here a couple of times now. I have had the iced mango matcha latte with oat milk. They use fresh chopped mango in it which is a game changer for me. The flavor is top notch. My daughter had the strawberry matcha with oat milk. I give my drink 5 stars. She gives 4 stars and says she likes the fresh strawberries, but will order with regular milk next time. This is a walk up spot with a bench to sit while you wait (or chill?) and maybe a couple of stools, but not a sit-down cafe. You can order on a kiosk or with a staff person. The two times I have come, staff has been nice. The menu is simple but has something for everyone if what you're wanting is matcha. I hope that Jandii's opening across the street doesn't take away business because this is good matcha! I want to continue to support this spot. Highly recommend! read more
San Francisco has lots of places for matcha but not all matcha are the same. Don Juan de la Matcha can tell the differences as a matcha connoisseur. Sometimes just because there is a drop or hint of matcha doesn't make it fully matcha. Adding matcha can increase the price of drink exponentially. This may cause some matcha to taste water down without much flavor. Trying some new matcha at a place which added it to their menu can be a gamble. I decided to go to a place on the Sunset Strip of San Francisco which has Matcha in the name. On a Summer stroll in San Francisco Sunset strip I landed on Taraval street. There are lots of places to enjoy matcha in Sunset strip of San Francisco. Inside Moriwa Matcha there is a kiosk to order the matcha. They have brown sugar matcha , crème brûlée boba matcha latte and strawberry matcha latte. I had the mango matcha latte and it was not too sweet and tasty. I also had their matcha latte which was okay but nothing special about the drink. I wish there was more matcha in the drink for Don Juan De La Matcha .They also have peach and matcha soft serve on a flakey cone like some in SF. I might just come back for the matcha soft serve. Take a walk to the Sunset Strip of San Francisco both Inner Sunset and "Outer" the place you will find anything from a flakey banh mi, pineapple buns, dumplings, sushi, to "salmon chowder "when it comes to the city of San Francisco no one is "prouder"than Don Juan De La Matcha with a good matcha drink with real ceremonial grade "matcha powder" Over the years Don Juan De La Matcha "observes" after hundreds of different matcha "serves"and many first hand experiences and many "learning curves" that real good matcha is holistic which should help you reduce stress and relieve your "nerves " read more

I came here with my friend to check out this new matcha spot, and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend getting a lower sweetness level- the jam (depending on your order) and milk do a lot of heavy lifting! I loved my strawberry matcha, it had the right amount of fruit that went together very well with the rest of the drink after mixing. My friend enjoyed how creamy her Vienna matcha latte was, but did mention she preferred mine and would get it the next time she visited. There's limited seating inside, but Moriwa is close enough to Ocean Beach and to a few parks that it seems like a disservice to not take your drink to go and to explore the beautiful nature that SF has to offer. read more

My friends and I ordered at the kiosk, and a worker was available to answer questions before working on our drinks. I enjoyed my double matcha cream latte with less sugar very much. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. However, the strawberry matcha and matcha lattes were let downs, as they tasted watered down. The strawberry puree tasted fresh but wasn't quite sweet enough. As of now, I'd come back for the double matcha only, but I hope they can tweak their recipes! read more
On the Taraval street with a beautiful mural on 22nd Ave is Moriwa matcha. At the kiosk, my daughter had to try their version of the cold green white and red drink - strawberry matcha latte. I ordered a hot matcha latte at 25% sugar. We received our drinks fairly quickly and after a few sips, both of us thought the matcha was bitter. This is a new place so they should get better in time with their flavor profiles! read more
We got the crème brûlée matcha, Vienna matcha, and matcha latte. The matcha was pretty good! We got it 75% sweet and it was perfect sweetness! The matcha could be a little stronger and better whisked though because there were a few clumps at the bottom. There was only one girl working there when we went on a Saturday around 1 PM and she was very kind. Overall, I do want to try it again after their soft opening is over! I enjoyed my drink selection (double matcha, $6.75, 25%). matcha isn't super umami but it was smooth and the flavor came through. the price is pretty reasonable for this size. 25% was still a bit sweet so I can't imagine more than that though! read more

My favorite place to get matcha right now. I love their unique menu as well! I like that they offer Hokkaido milk as well. I think the price is really good for the quality of the drink! Super small interior but clean and pretty cute. read more

We stopped by here for a quick drink! I got the matcha slush with ice cream with 25% sweetness. There isn't a strong Umami flavor to the matcha, but the matcha slush and ice cream was still really strong and good. When we came in on a Sunday morning, there was no line and we were the only ones in the store. We ordered from a kiosk and our drinks came out super quick. Solid spot! read more
came around lunchtime on a tuesday, no line and the shop was very quiet (no music and an empty pastry case) with only one worker. ordering is done on a giant tablet screen by the door. there is 1 bench, 1 couch, and 2 barstool window seats inside, but i can see how crowded it would get on weekends. service was pretty quick and she answered any questions we had. i give the cream brulee boba matcha a 5/10. this was my bad for not reading the menu, but i was thrown off at the boba's presence. the cream brulee is hard to taste with the straw, so i recommend opening the lid and sipping to get a layer of the brulee with your matcha sip. the matcha is average, its flavor isn't that present and is a bit milkier (but the boba's flavor might be biasing me). i think my eyes skimmed past "boba" since there were so many words and i was more excited for the topping. i think the boba and its syrup makes this taste too much like a milk tea drink and less of a traditional latte. (personally, i don't like boba in my matcha if getting it at a matcha specialty establishment because of this reason). i wish there were a way to omit the boba while still getting the cream brulee on top. i really want to try the cream cheese matcha latte (my usual go-to), but was very intrigued by the cream brulee. would come back for that and maybe the mango? but i would recommend IF you want to give these drinks a go/like boba in your matcha. read more

Nothing special about that place since I been to many matcha cafés throughout last year. One barista working here at Moriwa Matcha, while I'm the one coming here minutes after closing time. Simple to-go storefront with a Kiosk and a few benches. One of the best matcha latte spots I've ever tried. I've had three different lattes here so far, and every one of them nailed the balance of creaminess, body, and matcha flavor even drinks with added toppings. They accidentally made a crème brûlée latte instead of the cream cheese latte we ordered on this visit, but they let us keep both drinks anyway. Great drinks and great service, will be coming back to try the rest! read more

My friend and I came here on New Year's eve and there was no line. We got the Double Matcha with less ice and 70% sweetness. The drink came out super quickly and it was good! The sweetness level was perfect for us and matcha flavor was floral. I'd come back to try their other things! read more

I decided to give this new spot a try yesterday since I was passing through town and unfortunately, it's not one of my favorites. The matcha flavor in the drink I got, the double matcha, was light but also bitter. The cream however was pretty tasty! The strawberry matcha latte my friend got was also just ok. The flavors didn't really seem to blend well together, maybe the strawberries weren't as sweet/ripe. I'm thinking we mainly didn't like our drinks because we either didn't order what they're most popular for or it was just an off day. I'd be willing to go back to try their creme brulee matcha or mango matcha which both seem intriguing! The peach soft serve ice cream however, I'd definitely go back for! It was so creamy and peachy, 10/10 for that one. In terms of ambiance, it's not exactly a sit down shop and is moreso grab and go. But given the area it's located at, that's kind of normal! read more

Came back to try another one of their drinks! This time I ordered the strawberry matcha latte ($7.33 after tax) which is pretty good for SF matcha. No wait time to order (love it!) and my drink was finished super fast. I ordered my drink 50% sweet and thankfully I did as the strawberry purse was kind of the substitute sweetener for the drink. The matcha itself wasn't as strong, but it was really refreshing. I still personally prefer the double matcha cream latte, but i still think their drinks are worth the money. read more

We decided to stop by and try this new matcha spot. The store is really small and not much seating inside. There was no line when we arrived and we ordered crème brûlée boba matcha latte, double matcha cream latte, strawberry matcha latte, and a cheese biscoff ppang. The drinks came out in less than 10 minutes, but they let us know the cheese coin cake took a little longer. The matcha was okay and not too flavorful compared to others that I've had. The cheese coin cake was disappointing to us since there wasn't that much cheese filling and mostly just breading. For the price, it wasn't too bad and I would come back if I had a matcha craving and skip on the cheese coin cake. read more

This place is a small cute matcha shop! There's a place to sit in the corner when waiting for your order to be done. I ordered through the self serve kiosk by the door and my matcha was ready within minutes! I got the mango matcha with oat milk and loved how the flavors really balanced each other out^^ would def recommend especially if you like stronger matcha. read more

The atmosphere was so cute and cozy, and the matcha tasted fantastic.Theres a very nice lil Grinch tree right by a lovely window that outlooks a KFC and EverBank, making a lovely view. All the people were very nice, even after my friend spilled some matcha. Very high quality napkins,by the way. read more

Super tasty new matcha spot that doesn't skimp on the matcha! Great price point at $6.25 too considered we're in the matcha wave right now. I like my matchas lightly sweetened only, so I got 25% sugar and enjoyed it. The creme brûlée topping was really tasty too. It had a nice eggy taste to it. Overall, with all the new matcha spots opening left and right, I would definitely recommend coming here. read more
