Next to Xu Liu Shan in the Tokyo Central plaza, this place is much quieter than XLS when we visited on a Tuesday afternoon. It might be because it's quieter to make tea than desserts, so it's a good place for us to chat. The menu seems quite complicated as the Chinese naming are too elegant to understand what exactly is in each item. So juggling between their menu star recommendations, Yelp AI features and their English items, we placed our orders. Conclusion, it's easier to just look at the order kiosk than the printed menu. Lol. I tried the Da Hong Pao Milk Tea. You can select ice level to 0 and sugar level to 0, but for me, I still wouldn't call the tea flavor strong enough. Maybe because I'm used to the HK style milk tea where the tea was extra strong. I ordered just a plain milk tea with whole milk, there's a layer of foam on the top and I almost thought they gave me cheese top by accident. Service was really quick and polite. Our tea was made in less than 5 minutes after placing the order. You will hear a ding sound but they won't call out your name or the order, maybe they do that when it's less busy. Lastly, the staff was super nice to help us take a picture.
I stumbled upon this new location while shopping at Tokyo Central in the Merlion Plaza in Cupertino. Moontea takes over the previous Tiger Sugar boba tea space. The parking is ok as it can be busy during peak hours. Updated, spacious and remodeled to include tables and seats for people to sit and relax. Kiosk to order from. One unisex restroom. Peach Oolong Tea. The tea flavor is strong with the light hint of peach. The drink is not too sweet and you can adjust the sweetness level. Their special lids allow the tea to be sipped and slowly enjoyed. Support your local business.
Moontea has been compared to so many other popular milk tea chain stores in San Jose. So many drinks, so little time! Parking may be difficult if its a busy time during the week. The plaza is super popular with the restaurants, supermarket, and dessert places. Menus are on digital signage on televisions above the pickup area and on the shop's electric posterboard signage. The shop's aesthetic all runs on the same theme which made everything look very consistent. Service was all dedicated to making and readying drinks. Dan Cong Milk Tea has rich oolong flavor. There's some floral notes, but it isn't overwhelming at all. I liked this one out of all the drinks I tried. Sweet-Scented Milk Tea has rice pieces in the drink itself. If I had to compare, the texture was similar to soybean skins. It is a sweet and floral oolong milk tea drink. White Champaca Milk Tea is a super floral oolong tea out of all the drinks ordered. I know people have tried to compare this drink to other milk tea stores, but I feel that MoonTea is still a little different. Ceylon Milk Tea tasted like the usual ceylon milk tea. Nothing super special worth mentioning, but it was well done. Not everything has to be extremely unique... just has to be done right! Definitely will come back to try the food and other drinks. I love how spacious and clean the store is despite the high foot traffic. Prices are worth paying for the quantity and quality. They are better than some other tea stores in the bay area!
It's actually pretty solid. The Jasmine is quite similar to Molly's, for a better price and more volume. The service is actually p quick and they were really nice about swapping drinks too, even when it was pretty busy. The inside is like most modern oriental milk tea places. Clean and simplistic. In terms of other drinks the Dan Cong, is p good with a nutty flavor too.
A good tea option in the bay area! A little bit more watery compared to similar tea shops but the size is much bigger which I appreciate!! Tea taste is still yummy and strong. This was my first time trying the cream top, and I feel like it didn't add anything to the drink so I don't think I will be getting it again. It just tasted really airy lol. Overall, a solid option, and service was quick on a Thursday afternoon!
Finally got to try this milk tea spot. In my opinion, I like this more than Molly Tea. I ordered the jasmine milk tea with whipped cream and pecans. The drink was delicious and very aromatic. The interior was clean and bright. Service was quick and it took less than 10 minutes to get our drinks.
I got the hot Jasmine Milk Tea with whipped cream and pecan ($7.25). I feel like this taste so much better when it's hot, the flavors are slightly more muted then when you drink it cold. Drinking it hot is like a warm hug, it's comforting and relaxing. I always get 0% for the sweetness levels, the whipped cream gives it the perfect amount of sweetness imo. The pecans are good, just wish it was more crunchy.
One of my favorite milk tea spots in the bay! Their teas are always so potent and strong, not overpowered by the milk at all - clean bright interior, they sell food so some people were sipping on drinks and eating while studying/working - order on a kiosk, service is quick (1) sea salt green milk tea: a seasonal menu drink, the salt hits you right away and mellows out with the smooth green tea, that salt almost makes the drink creamy - overall a yummy refreshing drink (the 25% sweetness was perfect for that not too sweet flavor and really let the tea shine) (2) jasmine milk tea: a classic flavor, they do it so well here, its floral, clean, and refreshing
Moontea has been open for awhile and is located next to gyukaku in cupertino marketplace plaza and today I finally got to try it! I am a huge Chagee fan and heard this place was pretty similar. We ordered on the self serve kiosk and the line went pretty fast. I got a peach oolong milk tea (also my go to at Chagee), which was fragrant and fruity. Their teas are stronger and typically not as sweet but you could adjust the sweetness. A total hidden gem that offers Chinese style milk teas! It satisfied my milk tea cravings and didn't make me feel heavy at all. They also offer toppings now, so I added brown sugar boba in mine for my sweet tooth. If you like Molly tea or Chagee, this place is very similar and does their teas extremely well! Highly recommend and will be putting my friends on this.
New specialty milk tea shop. it is located in the same complex as Tokyo central supermarket. it is interesting decoration with Halloween theme. you ordered from the touch screen kiosk. if you want to order non milk tea, you are out of luck. Everything is tea with milk but you can substitute the regular milk with Oat milk. Beside drink they also have bite size snack like sausage and stinky tofu. it has table if you want to seat They also has lemon team but ran out when we visit. it will be available on 10/28. We order Peach oolong milk tea with Oat milk and osmanthus milk tea. To be honest, I am at the edge on this as the order we have lack of tea. I thought it will be strong tea with milk. it was light tea flavor. I love the cup design though.
Final Thoughts: 4.00/5 This place has been open for a while now, but previously they did not have boba, so we just never stopped by here. Today, after our dinner, we saw that they did have boba on the menu, so we decided to give it a try. Simple, solid 4 star for today. Drink: Da Hong Pao Milk Tea (with regular ice, lactose free milk, and 25% sweetness): 4.0/5 This was the drink I chose for today. For the flavor of the tea, I actually really like the strength of the tea with the milk. The tea flavor is really prominent and I like the smell of it. It appears they use the tea leaves and he smell of them are quite nice. It seems really fresh and light and mixes well with the milk. Something interesting is that they label their lactose free milk as just that. Perhaps they actually use lactose free milk for the dairy free option versus a milk alternative like almond milk or oatmilk. No concerns with the milk options, but just a note since lactose free milk seems to be more of an umbrella term. The sweetness worked Chocolate Ceylon My W Hazelnut Chocolate Cheese W Cocoa Powder Figs: 3.8/5 My friend's drink today that I tried for review purposes. This was was also quite good in general. If you like the combination of chocolate and hazelnut, you'll probably like this one. It seems to be a blended drink. The flavors work well together and compliment each other. Of note though, this drink might have too many flavors happening in it because the figs did drown somewhere in the drink. Chocolate and hazelnut are two stronger flavors, so perhaps just leaving it at that would have been fine. Boba was alright for me too. Some flavor to it with a nice texture (some chew with that little bite). Menu: Difficult to read Their menu options are quite limited. I like that they have an indicator showing the strengths of their tea. This is really what I went off of because I like the taste of a strong tea, so I chose the one with the 4 leaves. Of note, there are no hot drinks available here, which would have been my desired choice as the temperature outside is super cold. Kind of interesting given they could have just warmed up the drinks. Something about their physical menu too is that the text is super small. I am super vision impaired and could not read the menu inside. My options were to walk outside to see the menu standing out in the front (also small text by the way) or have my friend read out the drinks for me. Perhaps making it larger would help or put the menu in various places around the café itself as the seating and waiting area is observed to be spacious. ---Side note for the menu: Descriptions on their DoorDash Ordering Menu Descriptions of what each drink is or what they may taste like would be helpful too because they do have the drink names in multiple languages, but no description or anything. Your average person would perhaps have no idea what the taste of each drink is without something more than just the name. If you really do want a description though, go to their doordash ordering menu and you'll be able to find it there. This would have been very helpful on their actual in-store menu. --------- Quality: Made in bulk perhaps The drinks came out quite quickly, so I'm thinking that the drinks and teas are made in bulk, placed into the large dispenser containers and then poured into the drinks as they are ordered. I've learned that making some things in bulk shouldn't take too much of the flavor or quality away though. The taste of the drinks we got were quite good, so nothing too significant to note here. Price: Fair for the item provided For two drinks, the price was around $15, which is very average and fair for the size and item provided. Price ranges will be within $6 to $8. Their cups are on the larger side, but to be fair, a lot of it is just milk and tea. Service: No interactions We actually didn't have any interactions with the workers here during this visit. We ordered at a kiosk and the drinks were just put in the front once completed. You'll know when the drinks are ready because they do have a signOf note, the drinks did come out fairly quickly to which my friend attributed to them making their teas in bulk. Ambiance: Spacious The interior is very spacious and does have a strong scent of their teas. This place gives me Molly Tea vibes, but that might be attributed to the smell and drinks provided in general. Many tables are available here, so you can choose to sit here, drink, and hang out or you can choose to pick up the drink and go. Location/Parking: Marketplace Cupertino It's located in the plaza on Stevens Creek Blvd. On the map, it states Marketplace Cupertino. This parking lot is large if you think about the space as a whole. If you just think about the parking space where Gyukaku, Curry Hyuga, and Moon Tea are, the spaces are almost limited and kind of tight. We typically don't have a concern with finding a parking spot here because there is a lot of turnover happening.
This place is great. Rather than sticking to just 1 tea spot I just have a rotation of places so I don't get tired of the place. Currently MoonTea is one of the spots on heavy rotation. Haven't really tried too many different drinks here yet but so far the jasmine milk tea with whipped cream and pecans has been one of my go to picks.
A kiosk is located right by the entrance and you pickup your drink at the front of the store when you're number is called. They have a TV that shows numbers that are ready for pickup. They also have a shelf for online orders. They were quite busy on a Wednesday afternoon for their soft opening. My partner ordered the Peach Oolong Milk Tea with Whipped Cream & Hickory with Boba. When we walked out with the drink, my partner realized it was missing the boba! He went back inside and they put a scoop of boba in his cup. I ordered the Ceylon Lemon Tea since they didn't have the Peach Lemon tea. There's only a handful of non dairy items on the drink menu. They offer lactose free milk though if you would like to use that as a substitute. I don't know how this will compete with the likes of other boba shops in close vicinity as it's a tough market to be in.
This tea place is inside a busy packed plaza in Tokyo Central! The place is full of neon lights and it's pretty spacious with lots of seats! I tried hot Ceylon milk tea for the first time here and it was pretty good! I will definitely come back more often since it's been cold lately! read more
Moontea doesn't offer toppings like boba, but if you're looking for a healthier or less indulgent option, it's a great choice. They do have whipped cream, but it's paired with a variety of nuts for added texture and flavor. Using whole milk gives their tea a rich, creamy taste. The packaging and cup design are elegant and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is friendly, service is quick, and I'm glad they opened this location in Cupertino--it's super convenient, right in the plaza with Daiso and Tokyo Supermarket. read more

Agree with other 3 stars review. The milk tea is mediocre. Personally, I found the tea flavor being too strong. There are plenty of seating I. The shop but the shop itself is very bright to a point that it's not very comfortable. There is a wait to get the drink but not too long. read more
I got the Jasmine Milk Tea with 50% sweetness and less ice. It's not bad. The line looked long, but it's because there was only one kiosk where people order. They also sell food, but I only got a drink so far. I would go back to try another drink but the Jasmine wasn't bad! read more
High quality milk tea, very similar to those you get in China. Flavor of the tea could be a little stronger for osmanthus oolong. I would recommend getting full ice as the ice melts quickly with less ice. Service was quick and ordering was easy. Plenty of seating and place was clean. Would def come back. read more

This is my new go-to spot for drinks! I visited with my cousin and we both agreed that their drinks are not overly sweet and very very aromatic. They have a display of tea leaves in the store, which I assume are used for the drinks, and you can definitely tell that good quality tea is what they specialize in. --Peach Oolong Milk Tea (less ice, full sweet): My all time favorite drink from here. It's very aromatic; you can taste both the peach and oolong flavor and they go so well together! I've come back a few times just for this drink. If you don't know what to order, you can't go wrong with this one! --Osmanthus Milk Tea (less ice, 75% sweet): Very aromatic! My cousin got this one and he likes drinks that are less sweet, and he said 75% was perfect for him but 100% would've been good too since their drinks aren't overly sweet anyway. We both have different tastes but he said he loved both drinks but if he had to choose, he liked the Osmathus a little more! They don't have too much variety on the menu, which is a good sign to me because it seems like they focused on perfecting the drinks that they do have. They also don't offer drink toppings but that's not a problem because their drinks alone are already really good! read more

Chinese tea shops are gaining popularity now and this has been a solid choice since their first location in Sunnyvale! I'm happy to see them expanding. If you like fragrant teas and no toppings, this is perfect. Moon Tea does not do traditional boba toppings so if you're looking for that then don't go here. Their tea selection are overall much more fragrant and light. They enhance the tea with flavored whipped toppings if you want that variation. I personally love their jasmine, feels like I'm drinking the flower which I don't mind. The branding of their cups to their bags is very distinct and well executed. The store itself has a unique style and vibe. This location has seats but parking might be tough since it's in a crowded plaza. There's only one ordering kiosk in store but you can order online! read more

This is a newer tea shop that opened up next to Hui Lau Shan. I went twice over the weekend, and the line both times wasn't too bad. Drinks come out pretty quickly after you place your order at the kiosk. Da hong pao milk tea (5/5): My favorite of the drinks I tried so far. The tea flavor is strong and fragrant. I got this at the recommended 75% sugar. My friend also ordered this and enjoyed it. Jasmine milk tea with pitaya whipped cream (3/5): Also got this with 75% sugar. This tea was much lighter than the da hong pao. I was hoping for it to be more fragrant, but it felt watered down to me compared to the jasmine at Molly Tea. I'm not sure if the pitaya was meant to be infused into the whipped cream, but I didn't taste much fruit flavor in it. Another friend ordered the white champaca milk tea and enjoyed it. Overall, I had a good experience and would come here again to try more of their teas. read more

Terrible experience and my son was horrified by discrimination. I dropped off my son to get a drink and his Apple Pay did not work then he informed the worker there about this matter and she said she'll make him the drink anyway. meantime I parked my car and I was on my way. The manager asked her employee to ask my son multiple times if he really didn't have his physical card, my son felt he was being discriminated, he said I already answered I didn't have the physical card. He then called me to come to pay. The store manager there told her employee stop and don't make the drink after the employee told my son he will make him his drink. My son felt it was a "Straight up accusation" being questioned like that! At the end I came in to pay for the drinks, no apology or anything from the store manager. I wasn't aware what happened until my son explained to me after we left. read more

Came here with my friend because the line to Izumi Matcha was crazy. I am glad it was, because this place is great! I tried the Osmanthus Milk tea. Osmanthus tea is my favorite. They made it super tasty. My friend ordered the Peach oolong milk tea. She loved it. I also would recommend the lychee milk tea. Sooo very delicious. My favorite is their cups. They are so cute. Moon tea is a must-try in Cupertino! Next time, I will give their food a try. read more

Finally got to check out this new place after Tiger tea closed down. The Ceylon milk tea is pretty good with decent tea flavor but my friend's sea salt green milk tea is just alright (not sure if it's because of the lactose free milk substitute). There are tables with 20+ seats which is better than Tiger tea. Also, there is a lot of parking spots in the plaza and I will come back for other drinks next time! read more

Sorry I wasn't impressed, being a milk tea aficionado for a very long time and somehow knew a bit about tea. I was disappointed at the the milk tea at moontea as they were diluted watered down and bland. The balance between milk and tea was way off. My osmanthus milk tea didn't taste any trace of osmanthus. Service was unfriendly. I met with a cold face when I looked up and the male staff just disappeared. Is it so hard to say hello? Especially while you are still in a soft opening. Well there is no service at all as you order from a machine so you won't hear any greetings or gratitude. Most of all, there is no enthusiasm in the ambiance. Service was unfortunately off just like their products. Won't be back. read more

They took over one of my favorite tea spots but I am excited to see this tea spot come to the bay area. The tea is good! I have only been once, but I was happy with my order! It is a kiosk situation like many new tea spots in the bay. read more

Vibes here is very industrial tea house. I had to try their Stinky tofu, it was pretty spot on with it's spices and flavor. Their teas are alright, but for just alright I'd go to a different place. They need improvement on pick up counter service. Our number was never on the board but it was sitting on the counter for some time. Had to go up to them in order to get our stuff. They fill the cup to the top with ice. 3.5 stars if I could. read more

There are boba places where it's all about the toppings and the syrups... then there are tea places where it's all about the tea. Both are good and hot different spots. Moon tea is DEFINITELY all about the tea... Boba wasn't even a menu option lol. The tea here was soooo fresh, and strong, and fragrant, and high quality! I got the osmanthus oolong and my sister got the Da hongo pao. Both 75% sweet, light ice. We both really loved it really loved it. Neither of us got drinks with fruit flavors, but I've read from the Sunnyvale location ratings that they go very light on the flavors... It really is all about the tea here. The pricing is very reasonable too, both our drinks together came out to just about $11. And the packaging is absolutely top notch and very unique... Not counting the fact that we got here during the soft opening so they also gave us a little canvas tote bag and a fan. The ambience is really nice and bright, well designed, and with a decent amount of seating. Definitely want to come back soon and try the food! read more

Ordered a hot milk tea with no sugar, and it was really good--smooth and fragrant. The stinky tofu was crispy but a bit too salty for my taste. Overall, a nice spot for a quick tea and snack! Will be back to try more. read more
My new fav boba in the bay! Their peach oolong milk tea + cheese foam is so creamy, not too sweet, and has a strong tea flavor. Their tea packaging is also really pretty and good quality, they definitely put a lot of thought into it. The changsha stinky tofu is also a must try! It's crispy, not too stinky, and the spicy sauce is pretty good with it. They usually only have a small line on the weekend, but parking is definitely a bit annoying (but worth it). read more

Vibes were very nice. I really like their interior aesthetic! The flavor of the tea was strong and not watered down. Only thing was the boba was a bit hard. I had some soft ones mixed in there. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was less than an hour before closing and during the soft opening. Excited to try other teas here in the future! read more
