Found this place on Yelp yesterday after searching for some new gluten-free options nearby. Been on a health kick for like 2 weeks but haven't had a chance to go grocery shopping since traveling last week. That's really neither here nor there though. Moonbowls is really good. I ordered online from their website for pickup because I live embarrassingly close to justify delivery, plus the aforementioned health kick. The interior is small, but modern and clean with places to wait for your food. I didn't have to wait at all though because my food was ready just in time for me to get there. There's a door on the left of the entrance and I'm not sure what that leads to - maybe it's a dining-in space? I guess more pictures of the interior would be helpful here. Anyway, I got the Korean Hot Chicken bowl and the Impossible Potstickers. The bowl was really good, at first I wasn't really blown away but then I mixed everything together and WOW. Between the pineapple and pickled vegetables that were both so fresh (even at like 7pm) - the flavor was amazing. It's pretty spicy when you mix the chiles in but I don't mind that plus it's what I signed up for. The potstickers had great flavor although I wasn't the biggest fan of the consistency and they fell apart a bit. With that said though it's a gluten-free and vegan potsticker which isn't the easiest thing to pull off. Great flavor and I got the sesame sauce in addition to the ginger one (I think that's what it comes with). This is a great spot! As a vegetarian, I ordered the avocado bulgogi bowl and it was so good! The kimchi is also delicious and usually I'm not a fan of kimchi. But overall it is so dang good and it's their signature bowl. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ chicken bowl and he said it was the best he's ever had! We both didn't have time to take pictures because we were so hungry and just sat there eating in silence because it's so dang good! The service is also amazing! This was my first time trying Moonbowls and I will definitely be frequenting this place. I ordered online to be picked up, and their website made it really easy to customize your order. I ordered a Build Your Own Bowl with cauliflower and the Impossible Potstickers with the ginger garlic soy sauce and sweet chili vegan ranch dressing on the side. My meal had so much flavor, high-quality ingredients and was a big portion! The employees were very nice too and the inside is fun, modern and clean. Although it is slightly expensive, the menu is vegetarian/vegan friendly and offers great ingredients so it feels worth the price. read more

It pains me a bit to give such a mid rating for moonbowls. When it hits, it's great! But when it misses, it does so sorely. And after most recent 2 consecutive terrible experiences with them both of which resulted in no food, I can no longer reliably recommend this location. The first incident: I placed an order for pick up 40 mins before closing time. Order was confirmed and when I stopped by to pick it up, the door was locked, lights off, and seemed clearly closed for some time despite the advertised time indicating it should have still been open for another 15 mins. Second incident: My partner placed a delivery order for lunch. Order was confirmed, delivery person came and waited for the order. 45 minutes later, the order was suddenly cancelled. Caviar support indicated the restaurant claimed "customer cancelled" which was entirely not the case. I can't claim to know what was going on with the restaurant in either of these incidences, but I will probably think twice before ordering from here if I actually want to eat something. read more

I have had this place two times, and have now attempted a third. If you're looking for vegan options, it had good vegan food, just horrible service. My first time I went, it took them over an hour to get my food, when I went to pick it up it took them FOUR times to get my order right, and ended up switched my order with someone else so they had to make me a new one. The second time they were so close to getting it right, but forgot my side sauce and were out of eggs and avocado. This third time I wanted to give it another shot, but when trying to order online, it was requiring me to log in, didn't take my password so I reset, but then needed my phone number but then gave an error saying I needed to be logged in to put my phone number? Sucks because the food is good, but such a bad business model I cannot support anymore. I saw online that there was varying feedback on the other location so my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try in the Lincoln Park location to provide a review. We had originally ordered online seeing that there was typically a 20 minute wait for most orders so we could pick it up when ready. The UI of the website was clean and it was nice using the complimentary coupon. Unforuntely when we arrived, it seemed that my order did not transfer properly to their system so the gentleman working there had to quickly put together our order. We sat on the comfy couch and waited until he finished it very quickly and told us he provided two complimentary desserts for having to wait. This was greatly appreciated and great service! Concerning the food itself, we had a mostly positive experience! I got a Meat Lover's bowl that came with chicken and the impossible beef. The chicken was delicious and not dry by any means (I had seen this reported online but this was not my experience)! The impossible beef was good, but as a carnivore and standard meat lover myself I could still taste the difference very slightly on the back of my palette which was ok but not my favorite. To each their own! The Impossible Beef Potstickers were the highlight of the meal. They had no such aftertaste, came with a tasty sauce, and were delicious. My girlfriend's order, however, was unfortunately compromised in multiple ways. She had originally ordered the KBBQ Cauliflower Salad but when she opened hers up she saw that she has been given the Cauliflower Wings with no salad beneath them. The wings she received were plain and had not been tossed in either the Gochujang or KBBQ sauce. This was slightly disappointing but she still remarked the light frying and breading was good, but there was not a ton of flavor as it lacked sauce of any form. The ranch was good but a little liquidy (possibly more typical for vegan ranch?). The Nutella Chia Puddings we received were a fascinating ending. As a sweet treat, it was a little understated, but as a healthy dessert option it was pretty great and had a fun new texture. All the portions on everything we ate were quite large so my compliments there. We hope this business can improve in the future and wish them the best of luck! Disappointed is an understatement. I never write reviews, but for this I felt it was necessary. My boyfriend and I ordered after seeing this place on DoorDash. We got the impossible potstickers, avocado bulgogi, build your own moonbowl, and two chia puddings. To start, the rice on both the bulgogi and moonbowl were undercooked, really hard to overlook. That being said it wouldn't have been as bad if the other components of the bowl had been good. The avocado bulgogi was overly sweet and I found myself dying for more kimchi to try and balance it out. My boyfriend said his bowl was bland. The potstickers were really strange; the inside was apparently impossible, which I found surprising because I use impossible "meat" on a regular basis, and the texture was super off (it was a gross paste). Not to mention the outside of the wrapper; something you're expecting to have a thin and crispy exterior was gummy and stuck to the takeaway container. To put an end to a bad meal they didn't even give us our pudding, which really sucked, because I had a feeling they would have been tasty. The food wasn't very good, it was overpriced as well.
