This place is conveniently located by my son's high school and I've made it a daily routine to stop in every single morning for my protein shake. The staff is so friendly and the place is extremely clean! I love how they open super early and the food is always fresh. Thanks for making my mornings extra special!

Both drinks were very refreshing. The Fitmint (left) was creamy, smooth, and had a subtle minty taste. It had fresh mint, spinach, vanilla whey protein, almond milk, organic ghee, and malt powder. The Fauci (right) had mango, banana, strawberry, orange, lemon, ginger, honey, cayenne, and flu fighter boost. This smoothie was super tasty and I feel healthy It was pretty thicc and the cayenne pepper somehow worked really well with the other flavors #whoknew ‍

I was in the area leaving from getting a facial next door. I decided to try out Protein Bar. Walking in it was very clean with a modern touch. I loved the pop of orange, made it seem vibrant. There is plenty of free parking so that's always a plus. Walker in I was greeted and placed my order. Service was quick and I didn't have to wait long for my order. I ordered a wrap...the Kale Caesar wrap and it was ok. I also ordered a smoothie and it was pretty tasty. There was plenty of seating, both booths and tables. I took my food to go but I wouldn't mind stopping in again if I'm in the area.

I had a vegan version of The Perk--it was fine. Not great though. I'm particular about my protein shakes. The texture was uneven. Because they added ice-/which I hate in shakes and smoothies--some parts would melt and it tasted like watery chocolate protein powder. The flavor was okay. It was definitely edible, but I wouldn't get it again. The protein content (according to the menu) was good. But I'm not sure if making it vegan changed that. This place is fine if you're kind of in a hurry to get some quick protein. It might have tasted better if I didn't make it vegan. I just like my protein shakes to be creamy, and this was more icey than creamy.

Haven't been here in years. Good to know they are still in business. Healthy options, sizable portions. Clean, bright decor. Bathroom was clean and stocked with supplies. Friendly order taker/cashier. Free parking. Enough said.

The smoothie was great but I found a hair in my salmon bowl. Killed my appetite completely, and I was compensated fairly when I told the manager. However it was a terrible experience, especially since I had noticed the hair when it was in my mouth, my brother also found a bone in his barrito and although he didn't go up to the counter he said he didn't enjoy his meal knowing there was a hair in mine. Will not come back here.

Yummy healthy food that is always fresh and quick to order! I highly recommend the bbq salmon bowl, as the flavors were rich and complex. Was a delicious balanced meal. I had it to go and was still delicious by the time i got back to eat it! Would definitely recommend this place!

Inexpensive and healthy vegan-friendly fast food restaurant in Chicago! Food**** We each got salads--the southwest and the super food vegan. The former had a kick to it and is mixed with quinoa, black beans, corn, avocado, tomato, carrot and cilantro-lime dressing w/ tofu (you can also get it with pea falafel). If you're up for a bit of a kick this salad is definitely for you! The superfood vegan was equally good but with a creamy chia dressing and no kick! The superfood vegan cookies with tofu, carrot, chickpeas, avocado, pickled red onion, hemp seed blend, and organic quinoa. Wow--good and super healthy! Atmosphere and Parking** Lots of seating and parking outside the restaurant. The vibe inside was casual and chill--playing pop music and booths are available as well as tables and chairs. They could definitely go around and clean the tables more! Service**** Counter ordering service and they will bring the food to your table (as long as you have your number up)! Price $ Under $10 for each entree

PB&J Shake is pretty good! Protein shake prices are crazy these days so under $10 was a nice surprise.

I come here all the time just for their shakes. I love the Hi-5 and pumpkin. Both taste so great and are packed full of healthy ingredients, protein, and vitamins. They also make you feel full! I've tried healthy shakes all over the city and these are by far my favorite!

It's a mom-and-pops shop through and through- you'll see homely decor, a simple but well done menu, and people from all walks of life coming together over delicious food. The staff was warm and attentive throughout the meal and brought out delicious complimentary french bread. It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken. The Michelin inspectors do not have Homeslice on their list, and you know something, that's okay. What the slice does do spectacularly well is their vibes. It's very much a laid back, beachy, sunny, summery, tropical, pineapple in almost all drinks sort of deal. Even the mojito was made with a splash of pineapple, because 'why not'? If Spongebob can make his home out of one, then I can have it in a cocktail without complaining. That said, unless you order straight whiskey or draught beer, the drinks are going to run on the sweeter side. In terms of the food, I was able to try the Nadene personal pizza, Burrata, and the Jalapeno homies. Everything across the board was fresh and rock solid. The Nadene pizza had wonderful heat, savoriness, and herbiness as well as a little sweetness from the hot honey (note to self= ask for extra next time). Jalapeno homies were perfect for those who like some heat in their lives, with cream cheese and veggies to take the edge off. The burrata was a great appetizer, but is better for groups, that one doesn't fill up on bread. While a little tomato would have been nice, I come back to this not being a fancy Italian restaurant. Something that really sets Homeslice apart is the service. Everyone from the host stand to the bar servers is very welcoming, friendly, and chill. Food comes out reasonably fast, too. Finally, when it comes to value, at Homeslice it is pretty average: not a steal, but by no means a ripoff, either. Final verdict: There are some places that are better experienced with a group of homies, and Homeslice is one such place. While the food is designed more for groups, the vibe will invite you in all the same, and whisk you away to some tropical place, a welcome escape, especially during a brutal Chicago winter.

It's fairly simple, but still fun and satisfying. I ordered an Impossible burger, tater tots, and a strawberry almond milk smoothie. My friend got fries, so I was able to try both. After over 40 days without fried food, I was especially excited for the tots and they did not disappoint. Overall, the food was good and solid across the board. Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option. We also go the branzino (forgot to picture) and wow 10/10 need to get that again. And the Caesar salad with added salmon was amazing! The staff is always so friendly and attentive and we just love this place!

Those are typically very good which is why I come back. The burger though. Why is it such a consistent disappointment? It's small, has the pancetta (a nice rubbery disc of salt) and just seems like kind of an afterthought to the otherwise well-considered menu. I've been eating it on occasion for 10+ years here always with the hope that it has improved. I would love to see a do-over on the burger. It would be great to have a place in the neighborhood that consistently delivered. As it stands, it's a distant second to RJ Grunt's, Small Cheval and not even in the same realm as Armitage Alehouse's burger. Really hoping I get to come back and revise this review to rave about how much better it got. The staff is always very nice and attentive as well. From host stand to bartenders, waitstaff and everyone clearing and setting, always a very nice group that seems like they take pride in their work, which is much appreciated.
