Best window person I've met at moon bowls!

Order was ready to go right upon arrival! The guy who gave me my order was named Pierre, really cool guy with great customer service and just a good vibe! Will be coming back!

A hidden gem with great vegan and vegetarian options! The flavor combinations are fantastic. The avocado bulgogi bowl with impossible meat, kimchi, Fresno peppers and seasoned kale is insanely delicious. The location is just a storefront/kitchen offering takeout and delivery with contactless pickup. Already looking forward to ordering again!

As a repeat customer of Moonbowls, I really just want them to be consistent. Their food, when prepared correctly, is amazing and unlike anything I've ever tasted, but the problem is every time I place an order it's a gamble. I've tried quite a few options on their menu, Seoul salad, Avocado Bulgogi, don't cauliflower it a comeback, and the cauliflower wings, and my faves that keep me coming back are the cauliflower wings and Avocado Bulgogi bowl. However, sometimes the wings are heavily battered and sauced, sometimes they're lightly battered and a little drier, sometimes the cauliflower is mushy, sometimes an item from the bowl is missing, and of course sometimes everything is perfect. But I honestly can't say I know which way is the way they intend to make the dishes, because they're different almost every time I order. Today I ordered just the cauliflower wings for lunch and they're lightly buttered and sauced this time, but the flavor was there so I didn't mind UNTIL I saw a pool of cooking oil about 2 bites in (picture attached). I seriously love the beautiful combination of flavors they put together to make the food taste amazing and that's what keeps me re-ordering, but I'm not sure how long it's worth gambling on each food order when the price of their bowls are not exactly cheap

Heard about this place and the reviews looked good so I placed a delivery order. Honestly, it arrived on time but for $22, it was a major disappointment. I am being kind. The concept of a healthy bowl with an eco-friendly recycled bowl sounds nice but when it arrives, it's cold, and not plentiful enough to call a full meal. There were only five pieces of cauliflower and the rest just lettuce and chili peppers. I ended up heating it up, which did something strange to the purple noodles making them gooey. Maybe there are better options on the menu but this won't be a repeat.

Chicken so tough it doesn't cry at the end of The Notebook.

The most disappointing lunch I've had this month. The chicken was so dry and tough -- I'd venture so far as to call it leathered -- in a way that couldn't be saved by the delicious sauce or the beautiful presentation. In concept, Moonbowls sounds amazing. In practice, you get hard chicken with spices so bland they are distinctly non-Korean. Go elsewhere for lunch.

If you're looking for some weird Americanized "Korean food", then sure this place is fine. But if you're looking for something authentic then I say this is definitely NOT the place to go. The food was EXTREMELY salty. I was missing some items that were supposed to come with my bowl. I ordered an avocado bulgolgi bowl and yet there was no avocado. Okay? Odd. The food must have not been sanitary because 1 hour after eating the bowl I was in the bathroom for 30 mins. Let's just say I had to use the bathroom multiple times throughout the night. I know, TMI, but just giving my honest feedback. My wife also experienced the same experience. This is our first and last time that we'll be going here. No thanks. By the way, these bowls are way overpriced. Not worth it. Go to a real KBBQ and pay $20 for all you can eat.

Please bare with me as I'm sure this is the worst review I will ever leave on Yelp. Let me give you a little background before I describe the experience. It's around 730, I decide hmm why don't I order from Postmates. Right? Sounds like a great idea. Absolutely not. So I did my usual tidbit and researched places on Postmates with plant based options given that I don't eat meat. This place showed up. Fast forward I place my order and create a customizable bowl with cauliflower and assorted vegetables. I also use rice as my base. Mind you, again when I placed this order it was around 730. Once the order was placed it said ETA 8:53pm. Now I'm a little disappointed because I wasn't even sure I'd be hungry by then, but again why not support a business I've never eaten at! so I remained hopeful. Now it's 845, there's no indication of my Postmates driver moving and I'm getting a little nervous. I wondered if the place was even open and if Postmates made a mistake so I called. When I called the lady on the other end told me how "the kitchen got backed up" and "she could see my order it should be leaving in 2 minutes." Now it's 855 when my food is supposed to be here and it still hasn't left! so I message my Postmates driver like hey did you pick up the food? He said "no because everytime I call they say it's 1 minute from being done." So now I'm furious, hungry, and getting angsty. I call the restaurant and they aren't answering my calls now... I called 3 times I knew they were ignoring me. Finally I mean finally at 930... LITERALLY 930. My food gets to me. TWO HOURS AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER. So I'm okay now right? The food is here whatever just enjoy. WRONG AGAIN. They are so lucky I was paying attention to what I was putting in my mouth because they put CHICKEN in my food!!!! GUYS I AM VEGAN. So now I'm hungry, very disappointed and distrustful. I would give this place one star but I feel so bad for my Postmates driver who got sucked into the middle of this. Please err on the side of caution before ordering from this place. I will NEVER ever order from this place again. It is unorganized, unprofessional, not attentive to detail, and my food arrived cold. Save your money and try another business! Also side note... remember how i said I asked for rice? I got noodles. Now I may be ignorant of the menu and that's what they meant??? But on Postmates it says steamed brown rice. This is something to also be cautioned about!

I've only ordered one take-out bowl from this place, but they have really made a good impression on me! I was always hesitant to order here because it's a bit pricey for a make-your-own-bowl concept. I got the Avocado Bulgogi, which was really flavorful and filled with guiltless bites. It's still a bit out of my price range for a quick lunch, but if you have the resources and motivation to support a vegan-friendly small business, you'll be happy to know that this place doesn't slack when it comes to flavor, originality, and freshness. With this restaurant, it's the small details that I really appreciate. I received a friendly voucher for a free bowl on my next order, and a letter addressing their increased efforts in their health and safety standards. You won't find ingredients this beautiful and delicious at Chipotle.

Had not heard of this place but ordered from Uber Eats because of a BOGO promotion for some of their bowls. I ordered the chicken and kimchi bowl and overall was pleased. Food arrived in a perfectly reasonable amount of time (saw some reviews citing a pretty long wait). Portion was on the smaller side, but bowl was yummy and tasted clean.

I paid $8 to get this food delivered - that is how much I love the food! From fresh ingredients to delicious flavor combinations, you truly can't go wrong here. I discovered this place on accident one night through Caviar and have been obsessed ever since. The sesame surprise bowl is my ultimate favorite. I am a huge stan of sesame in general, and moonbowls did if right. My mom and I have tried almost every singe bowl combo and ever played around with our own creations. You really cannot go wrong with any of them. The avocado bulgogi is also a house favorite but the chicken and egg is also super flavorful. With 5 bases to choose from - brown rice and the purple potato noodles (worth the extra $2) I recommend getting. Building your own bowl is greats alternative to getting creative or if you're someone like me who had ordered 12 times from here now and you now know exactly what you like.... My only criticism is the baked chicken - just gets kind of soggy in the bowl is all. I highly recommend adding the flash fried cauliflower to ANY bowl bc it's AMAZING! I wish I could eat it every day. I recommend this place to my friends 10 times over when they ask about the best takeout places in the city during this time. You have to have to have to try this place!

I ordered a custom bowl off Yelp. It took a long time to be delivered but I don't think that was moonbowl's fault. A few of my ingredients were left off (an extra sauce, garlic, and ginger) but the bowl was so good without these things that I didn't really mind. The food was very clean looking and tasting and I loved the flavors of the sauce that I did get and the bamboo rice. The arugula was very fresh, the seaweed was perfect, and these guys know how to cook sesame tofu. Sesame is one of my favorite flavors and this had just the right amount of sesame flavor. I will be coming here again in the future.

Got this delivered. Pretty small portions and the side item wasn't that great - especially later in the day.

The headphone in my Build Your Own Moonbowl.

I really wanted to like this place, and have ordered from it several times because I live nearby. The food is good flavor-wise but inconsistent, my order has been incorrect before (something small but annoying, like forgetting a side that I paid extra for), often cold, and often takes far longer than predicted. Still, the promise of what it could be, convenience, and the occasional promo code has kept me going back. Tonight was probably the final straw, though. I ordered through Uber Eats to pick up on my way home. It said 10-20 minutes for pickup, and then I got a notification maybe five minutes later that it was ready for pickup. Sketchy, but fine. I was there maybe ten minutes later and was told (by the very nice, helpful man in the Kitchen United thing) that it actually wasn't ready yet and that somebody was working on it. Probably ten minutes later he handed it over. When I got home (truly a five minute walk later), I could tell it was cold when I took it out of the bag, so I know the issue wasn't that it was still being cooked. And I took the lid off to discover that someone in the kitchen's headphone had fallen into my bowl, so I will not be eating it anyway. Tried calling and got no answer.

Is moonbowls open? I was checking the website and app this past weekend and it seemed to indicate all the locations are closed. And there isn't a phone number I could call to check anything. I pulled it up on DoorDash which says I can order.?

Then I saw the KBBQ menu and all bets were off. I immediately pivoted and ordered the chef's tasting set, the Diweji, featuring pork jowl, pork collar, and pork belly, complete with an assortment of banchan. Zero regrets. And here's the part that should tell you everything you need to know: I am a certified radish hater. I avoid it whenever possible. Yet somehow, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the radish banchan and asking for more. Even the soup - which also featured radish - was absolutely delicious. If Perilla can convert someone who actively dislikes radish into a fan for one meal, that's saying something. The soju was exactly what I wanted with Korean barbecue: crisp, clean, and refreshing. I appreciate that it was neutral rather than overly sweet. The flavored, sweeter versions aren't really my thing unless the food is setting my mouth on fire. Speaking of spice, the wings were good: juicy, well-executed, and satisfying but I kept wishing they packed a little more heat. They weren't spicy at all, and a bigger kick would have taken them from very good to unforgettable. As for the meats, the pork jowl was gloriously rich and fatty, exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The pork collar ended up being my favorite: flavorful, tender, and with just the right balance of meat and fat. The pork belly was comforting and familiar - the classic KBBQ staple done well, with beautifully rendered edges and that indulgent quality that makes it a crowd-pleaser for a reason. The set also came with potatoes that were unexpectedly delicious. My only complaint? It was far too much food for one person. The service deserves its own mention. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire meal was delivered with efficiency and a smile, making a solo diner feel completely comfortable lingering and enjoying the experience. What I thought would be a quick happy hour stop turned into one of my favorite meals.

We quickly realized that this was an atypical Korean restaurant experience as we did not receive banchan and there were not many traditional options on the menu. I think that should've been our cue to go, but we stayed and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask multiple times when it was coming, and when the food finally came out, it was underseasoned and the texture was very off. The seafood pancake tasted deep fried and had chunks of imitation crab. It had the texture of an unrisen focaccia. The soup was tasteless, and the salmon roll was drenched in mayo and eel sauce. They also gave us a "special" hot sauce that tasted like just a mix of sriracha and Tabasco. Small highlights: the ambiance was nice; it seemed clean. Waiter was nice enough. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was quite a shocking meal.

Perilla is a tastefully decorated restaurant, both loungey and rich, but still makes you feel like the joint is all for you. You know, 5 star service is such a lost art, it makes you forget how much you miss it when all of a sudden it happens to be right in front of you. Ricardo, our bartender, what a gem. Forget about the perfectly made drinks that were served to us. Ricardo made us feel right at home with his kind disposition and friendly demeanor. But it doesn't just stop at Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. They were not extra or over the top in anyway. But you can tell when something is done well and correctly, just like these fries were. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. All the accompanying condiments were exceptional on their own and could have functioned as their own course. The Japchae glass noodles were a stunner. The real sleeper was the chopped lettuce greens tossed in their chili vinaigrette. Could have eaten 20 bowls of those lettuce greens. Sadly, I forgot the name of our server who cooked and cut our meat for us. She really added to the experience. She expertly prepared our food while maintaining a fun and pleasant conversation with us. The meat itself, my goodness, tender, smoky, quality-forward, and perfect served with the condiments. What a spectacular meal and overall experience.

We arrived on time but were told to wait in the lounge for about 10 minutes until our table was ready. It's unfortunate that they don't offer service in the lounge, no water or cocktails. We decided to order à la carte instead of the tasting menu to try a wider variety of items across the menu. For a Korean restaurant, I found it quite unusual that the banchan came with an additional charge. But, this is only if you order à la carte. It is included with the tasting menu. The following was plenty of food for two people: Selected Items: Tteokbokki - 3/5 Banchan - 3/5 Ssam - 4/5 Soondubu - 5/5 Prime marinated short rib - 3/5 Prime Ribeye Roll - 4/5 My favorite item was definitely the soondubu, which was extremely flavorful. If anything, the most disappointing dish was the Prime marinated short rib. I couldn't taste any marinade, and it was quite bland. When you order meat, the staff cooks it for you. Our server was very pleasant and did a great job prepping and serving. Additionally, the interior decor is quite nice and feels very cozy. At the end of the meal, the restaurant adds a 3.0% "surcharge" as well. But maybe that's standard in Chicago. This place has potential, but at this price point, when the meat itself and most of the dishes feel average, I just don't see a reason to come back.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!

The space has such a fun, modern interior with records and other music decor lining the small space! Perfect spot for a date or small group. A live DJ was spinning various records during our visit, which I thought would be too loud, but was the perfect backdrop for our great dinner conversation. Staff were friendly, and didn't hang around too much, which was nice! The cocktails and food were the real deal! I had the Pineapple Upside Down Cake cocktail, which I thought would be SUPER sweet, but it was balanced and refined in the best way. Lovely take on a tropical cocktail. We shared the Korean Chicken Sandwich, the Burger, and the Bing Bread. Every single bite was delicious: fun take on a pizza with the Bing Bread, a fresh and light take on a Korean Chicken sandwich, and a deliciously savory burger with all my favorite toppings! The servings were perfect to share, so I'd grab a close friend, order up some drinks and plates, and just take in the chill vibe! So glad we stopped!

It's a more relaxed concept than the OG, serving Korean inspired bar food and inventive cocktails. While I liked the original Parachute, I am obsessed with Parachute HiFi. You must order the bing bread. It's what they are known for, and for good reason. It reminded me of a large doughy pizza roll, in the best way. I was also in love with the tapioca fritters with pepper jelly. The texture of the tapioca fritter was so unique and fun, and the pepper jelly was seriously out of this world. Bottle that stuff up and sell it! Whoever said the ttebokki pad Thai didn't taste like pad thai was wrong - it does and was a satisfying dish that I'd order again! I love twists on a classic and it was so smart to use rice cakes instead of the traditional noodles. The cocktails all sounded amazing, especially having names like pineapple upside down cake and black sesame. They got me intrigued for sure. Both cocktails were well balanced and enjoyable. Can't wait to return to try more from the menu (like that burger!)
