In 2014 we had Moon Valley complete our backyard after putting in a nice pool. Randy was exceptional at helping us pick plants to complete the look, people tell me our backyard looks like a resort. We did spend some serious $$ but found that Moon Valley has by far the best selection of plants. We came back just recently to replace some plants after 2 years and Matt Windt and Ryan Olson the GM gave us a really nice deal on some big plants we had to replace. I would highly recommend Moon Valley remember to wheel and deal with them, but they are by far the best place for plants, don't waste your time shopping around. read more

Very disappointed with Moon Valley. The salesman pushed us into an order which we had to pay thousands for upfront, when we weren't sure about what to plant. Salesman was not knowledgeable about a variety of plants so when we wanted to change our order he pushed us into keeping his plan. Turns out we spent lots of money to put back what they took out. We received a coupon in the mail and were unable to use that without a satisfactory explanation. Plants that arrived were very tiny, especially for what we paid. read more

OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE! We recently visited Moon Valley (7th Street location) for the first time. Each and every employee was friendly and helpful. Bryan Cugiano spent a great deal of time educating us on the various citrus trees and helping us choose the perfect tree. Bryan was extremely knowledgeable and outgoing and we appreciated that he didn't try to upsell. The delivery and planting of our tree was just as impressive. Lance and crew were very professional and diligent. They also demonstrated a superior level of customer service. Moon Valley's outstanding customer service and fair prices have left a lasting impression. Thank You Moon Valley. read more

Many many thanks to Brian, the director, and Josh the foreman and tree expert who knew, after we set up an appointment to diamond cut our palms, that the Bismark Palms would probably die if we tried to diamond cut them. We are so grateful for their honesty and expertise. Many thanks to the office person and Jenny who also made sure that we were not charged since the work couldn't be completed. You can bet we will use them again and will recommend them to others. Thank you! read more

We purchased our trees from Moon Valley in August, we worked with Joe to pick out our trees. He is very friendly and knowledgeable, he walked the lot and helped us pick out the best tree of every variety we wanted. We ended up going with 9 different trees for our backyard, a variety of fruit and Ashes. Joe helped us decide the best placement for each tree and our backyard looks awesome now. The install crew was great, came on time, cleaned up after themselves and got done in less time than I would have taken to dig the hole for one tree. Out of the 9 trees, our peach tree started to die and Joe helped us get it back with the Moon Juice and it is doing great now. One of the ashes didn't make it and we got it replaced by Moon Valley with no argument, Joe took us back and helped pick out another one, and install crew did as good a job as the first time. Will definitely be back when it's time to pick out the bushes and smaller plants for the rest of our yard. read more

Thanks to all the guys at Moon Valley Nursery - Jonas, Matt, John and his crew. Service was excellent and I really appreciated the follow up call from Jonas about the trees. I was so excited to see the new trees put in, that I really wasn't prepared to go over all the things I needed to know or any questions I still had. Jonas' call made it so I had time to think and ask him some important follow up questions which I know will help me better care for my new trees. Thanks a bunch guys! read more

Tamar Williams was great! Very polite and professional. My beautiful magnolia tree is now safe from these monsoons.

I will be straight and to the point. I will not go back to Moon Valley for anything. I have purchased at least 6 trees from here and all but two have died. I watered them as directed and fertilized as directed but did not use their high priced fertilizer and they all died. I went back recently to see if they would do something for me but the manager was essentially a behind and just told me that they couldnt do anything for me. He acted as if I was bothering him and had an extremely aloof attitude...snotty. I guess if you sell trees you are truly above people that dont. I decided then and there no more. I have never really liked their attitude and this was the kicker. My brother-in-law purchased two trees from a nursery in Glendale and payed way less then I and his trees are huge now. He did it with water and no fertilizer. He told me that Moon Valley Nursery sounded like a rip off and charges too much to live up to their name. Ya know I think I agree. All I have seen on here are bad reviews for Moon Valley Nursery and I am adding mine. read more

We bought trees from here, not at all the ones we was shown. 6 of them died and they said our coverage wouldnt replace them, If we wanted to buy more than they will give us a better coverage. As I se it , was there way of getting our money, than have to do business with them again. I wish I read reviews before buying from them read more

I would never go back to this nursery. I needed trees and plants for my new house so I chose several with a helpful employee and when it came time to check out the guy almost insisted I buy what they call "moon juice," that would feed the new trees. It's a buy two-get-one-free deal, so that cost me $80 ($40 a piece). They also wanted to sell me insurance on my new items, which I declined. After spending $1,300, I was up for delivery three weeks later because I had to travel. The next day I went to Whitfill Nursery on Glendale to check on grass seeds and I find out their prices are much less than Moon Valley. (For example, one tree at Moon Valley would be $150 or $200; at Whitfill the same tree is $99) The nursery is also run totally differently. There's no sales pitch, but friendly wonderful employees and nice touches like antiques and a gift shop and farm animals and peacocks. One employee told me that there's two brothers -- one who owns Moon Valley and one who owns Whitfill -- and they have different philosophies about how a nursery should be run -- and that is quite evident. In fact, a Whitfill employee used to work at Moon Valley but didn't like how things were done because he said it was all about making the sale. He also told me that "moon juice" is a huge rip-off because Whitfill sells the same thing, only it's a $7.95 bottle of stuff that's concentrated and you mix it yourself with water. You'd get about 50 gallons of "moon juice" with it. So that's $80 compared to $8. Anyhow, I decided I did not want to buy from Moon Valley and called them the day to cancel the order. They said they'd have to charge me a 15% restocking fee. I told the guy they hadn't even pulled anything for me and the delivery date was three weeks away. After a lot of phone calls with no return call, one employee told me that he'd check with corporate and see if they could waive the restocking fee. After a few days, he called me back and said yes. So I went to Whitfill and bought the same things for about $400 less. A month later, I noticed that I had not been credited from Moon Valley so I phoned. The employee said that he saw my request in the computer but "nothing was ever done." He said he'd send me a confirmation email and do the return. I never got the email, but when I followed up a few days later, another employee told me that yes, the return was just done. I am now a loyal patron of Whitfill Nursery and will never return to Moon Valley again. read more

Moon Valley has been super helpful not only with assisting in picking out plants and delivering/planting, but also with a very personal one on one customer service approach. Went to their Christmas tree lot because I had a $5 off coupon. I thought the prices were high but figured trees were just more expensive this year; plus the nice kid helping us offered another $5 off. Paid 50 bucks for a 5' spruce. Realized after I left they didn't take the $5 off that was promised. Then I went to Home Depot to get a tree for my sis-in-law....lo and behold the trees were larger and $20 cheaper! The guy at Home Depot said he'd heard that a lot. They also have the nice shaker to get the extra needles off and the net to transport it which MV didn't. I emailed MV asking for a partial refund since the lot had a huge sign stating 'Lowest Prices Guaranteed'. Even the tree bag and preservative were more expensive. They can't claim freshness because HD gets their trees delivered every few days from the farm. It's been a month and I never heard back. Nice customer service...not. I'll stick to Home Depot and Whitfill nurseries. read more

This is a well known nursery around the valley, and this was what we instantly thought of when in need of a tree for the front yard. We found a coupon in the Sunday paper, and thought how can this go wrong? We decided on a type of tree, and went to the nursery to find one. When the gentleman who helped us pointed one out, we were concerned about how far the tree Y'ed at the top. He assured us that this would not be an issue. The tree was promptly planted and looked great for about a week before it started to lean. the tethers broke on the tree two times, and we had them come out and re tether the tree. Each time we were reassured that this happens. Well the last time the tethers broke, so did the tree. Upon calling Moon Valley Nursery the said that it had been just over a year, and they only guarantee trees for a year. Well we still needed a tree in the front yard so resolved to simply buy a new one. Preferably one that wouldn't lean when planted and snap! They tried to sell us much more expensive trees for a while, before they got the point. Again the tree was planted promptly while we were out of town. Came home to see our beautiful new tree, and....it is the wrong tree. Oy Vey, this tree does look nice, but none the less the wrong tree! Will go to a different nursery next time. read more

Great nursery! Customer service was above and beyond. Alex was very knowledgeable and helpful. We will shop here again!

Incredibly consistently overpriced! Wow who would pay here prices?? Nothing special here that you can't find elsewhere for sometimes half the price. High pressure sales and gimmicky "deals". Staff who couldn't answer my basic questions didn't help. Felt dirty and dissatisfied leaving this place. Will not return. Years ago this place was a private nursery called 'garden grove'. It was beautiful. Miss it!! read more

Customer service was poor considering the price of the purchase. Order three fruit trees to be delivered and planted. Called a week before delivery to switch out one breed of lemon tree for another, was assured that this would happen. Called the night before the delivery to find out what time to expect delivery, no returned call. Call the morning of delivery, to make sure they had the correct trees, they didn't , told me they would swing the by nursery to swap out the lemon tree for correct lemon tree before planting. I told them I meet them there within twenty five minutes. Within about fifteen minutes received a call saying they planted the wrong tree. Told me for my troubles they'd give me a free tree, since they planted the wrong one. The installer told me they would call me by then end of the day, he didn't. I called a day later, told me the same thing about getting another lemon tree for free, manager would call to let me know when they would delivery that tree. Day passed by and yet another call to find out about the other lemon tree. They finally called me back to tell me they we're coming back to dig up the one lemon tree and were replacing it with the correct tree. After thinking about it, I kept the wrong planted tree since I had it and watered it for three days. Told the manager about my unhappiness with their customer service he apologized. The end of using moon valley nursery. P.S. Seems to be no consistency to what sales people tell you, to get you to buy trees. Make sure you know everything about the entire process, it changed from when we agreed to buy to when we sat down to pay. Get all the hidden fees and the warranty, it's not a year unless you willing to pay extra for it. Good day!,, read more

EDITED REVIEW~~~~~~` My husband and I first came to this location and were completely blown away with great atmosphere and customer service. My husband and I picked 3600 in trees including 2 queen palms for 399 each (maybe 299). We had them planted for us and immediately after planting one of our queen palms was leaning ridiculously. I called the nursery the next day, asked if they could come out and do something about it. They said since I didn't buy the ridiculous warranty for a year they wouldn't come out and do anything. They said they cant help how the tree rested in the soil and without the warranty there is nothing they can do. My husband rigged the palm tree himself the same way they would have and 6 months ish later that palm tree is dead while all of my other trees and plants are blooming wonderfully. When the palm was dying I called and they said come buy their palm juice for $44.00, so I did. Still nothing, my tree died. (ADDED) A new manager Daniel called me and apologized and within a week I am a very happy owner of a new beautiful queen palm, Thank you moon valley nursery for taking care of me when the old manager on staff would not. Happy as a clam now. read more

I kept calling to get a quote and the person answering the phone kept telling me the landscapers would call me, after doing that for several months and them not following up in went to a home show and talked to a guy at their booth, he reassured me someone would call me, took my name and number and said he would personally get someone to call me back. Well he didn't. But I tried once again, when I told the lady who answered the phone about my concerns with nobody following up she made an appointment for them to come to my house with a three hour time frame, they did not show up or call me. Very poor customer service. Also they advertise free estimates but I was told on the phone it would be $99 for an estimate. read more

We went in to Moon Valley with a small idea of what we wanted to do to landscape our front yard, and spoke to Ray who was happy to jump in with ideas of a good desert landscape. He scheduled a time to come over and start planning the area, and as we did not have anything but rock we had a pretty open space to work with and he came up with a plan that fit perfectly for what we wanted. John came to put the plants in and the guys quickly got to work and finished in almost no time and it looked better than we imagined. Definitely happy with what we got and will be going back. read more

Bought our first house in June.. complete with a bare backyard. After convincing myself that we could do the yard ourselves... and then recently coming to terms with the fact that that was never going to happen, I found myself going through the "new homeowner coupons." There was one for Moon Valley, so I told my fiancé to call. In comes Sheldon Muecke. From the very first phone call, he was nothing short of amazing. We sent pictures of the yard; Sheldon came up with a game plan for us (within budget I might add). He invited us to the nursery to come look at some shade trees he had in mind for us. We chose the ones we wanted, talked about landscaping plans, and set up delivery for this week! He was personal, attentive and listened to what we wanted. He even gave some recommendations on some techniques for some of the other projects we did want to DIY. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a landscape design consultation, and Moon Valley for anyone wanting great deals and inviting/informative staff. read more

Lance and his crew just left my house after what could have been a nightmare of a day. I had purchased 3 enormous ficus columnar trees to screen out an ugly backyard view. Lance and his crew showed up right on time with my enormous trees, ready to do the job. It turned out that the trees were too tall and would interfere with the various utility wires in my backyard. I wasn't sure what to do, but Lance and store manager, Bo, came up with a great solution, suggesting that 5 smaller trees would work better in the space. I was expecting to have to wait for weeks before my new trees could be planted, after all, they had other work to do today. But, Lance and Bo found 5 smaller ficus trees from 2 different locations, and Lance and his crew picked up the 5 new trees and then came back to my house today and planted them. The 5 trees cover the area much better than the original 3 would have, so I ended up with a better scree--and they don't interfere with the utility wires! Lance and his crew were polite, respectful, and they cleaned up my yard. I couldn't be happier with my new trees and with my experience with Moon Valley. Thanks so much to Bo, Lance, and his crew for going the extra mile(s) (literally) to ensure I was a happy customer. I appreciate the exceptional customer service. Buying our Christmas Tree at Moon Valley Nursery. Always great customer service! Thanks Mike Williams for all your help!

This place has the great customer service and great Christmas trees!! This is our 3rd year coming here and wouldn't go anywhere else.!!

COMPLETELY UNETHICAL AND POOR SERVICE. We purchased a package of 15 trees and 60 plants. The sales person gave us a delivery date and they didn't show up, blamed it on a typo on the invoice. They told us they wouldn't be able to come out for another week. After speaking to manager about the tight schedule we were under he found a crew to come out on a Sunday. When the crew showed up they had all the wrong type and size of trees. We called the manager to tell him the trees in the delivery were incorrect. He called my husband and I liars. We subsequently cancelled the order and sent the crew on the way. BE WARE THEY WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET YOUR $$$$$$$$. read more

About 18 months ago I bought a significant number of shrubs from MV. My only complaint is that several of the Oleanders (spelling) I bought were supposed to be the standard and they have turned out to be the dwarf. This is a bit of a problem now as I have about 25 of them planted and I either need to live with it or buy new. This company allows it's sales people to make baseless and dangerous claims all in the pursuit of a sale. We came to this nursery in search of a suitable hedge plant to fill in a 150 foot stretch of our property. Upon hearing this, the sales person we met hovered over us like a vulture trying to guide us towards whatever their most lucrative plant species were. We told him up front that we have dogs, and thus are very concerned about toxicities of any species we look at. This person then proceeds to recommend oleanders to us, which are well known as one of the most toxic plants available in general landscaping. We immediately spoke up about that toxicity, but instead of showing any doubt in his pitch he doubled down on his mistake, going on to tell us that oleanders were only mildly toxic, and that " a dog would need to eat the entire bush to feel anything". I then kindly let this gentleman know that I deal with chemical toxicities by profession, and that he was quite wrong about what he was saying. I even quoted him a known toxic dosing of this plant for dogs, which is an incredibly low 0.25mg/kg... and again, instead of stopping himself, this gentleman doubled down again! To put this in perspective, if you had a dog that weight 25 kilograms (55 pounds), they would only need to eat approximately 6 milligrams of green plant material to have a toxic reaction. An adult horse can be killed by as little as ten leaves of oleander. All portions of the plant are toxic. And yes, it is also extremely toxic to humans as well.... At this point my wife and I were disgusted by this persons ignorance and decided to leave. Amazingly we were followed all the way out to the parking lot by this person, who went on to say that he and his coworkers " routinely ate handfuls of oleander to show customers how safe they are", and that he would be happy to eat a handful of them right then if we agreed to buy some. Needless to say we left Moon Valley Nurseries without purchasing anything, and they certainly lost all business from us, and hopefully from anyone reading this as well. These sorts of business practices are selfish, misleading, and extremely dangerous, and they should not be tolerated. Imagine if this person had made this aggressive pitch to someone less informed. Even if they had heard of the toxicity of these plants, he may have convinced them otherwise with his insistence of their safety. Now imagine if that less informed person planted those oleanders within reach of their beloved pets, or worse, their children. Would Moon Valley take responsibility for the outcome? Of course not. Caveat emptor they would say; we have no record of telling you anything at all, have a nice life. This place has no respect for the safety of their customers or their families, they care only about making a sale, and even when given proof of their ignorance, they hold fast to their lies. Beware, Beware, Beware. read more

Moon Valley has been great since I randomly stopped in to just see what kind of desert plants they had. Knowing nothing of landscaping and having whatever the opposite of a 'green thumb' is, I certainly appreciate the care and time the staff took with my fiancé and I. From the 45 minute walkthrough and discussion about our likes, dislikes, space and plans, to the free at home consultation, to the updates regarding services and scheduling, all the way to delivery and installation (or transplanting I think is the right term), they've taken great care of us. After shopping the area for equivalent service and plant life, I found that their pricing was competitive and they offered more warranty protection as well as complimentary items and package deals. They did what they needed to do to show they are trustworthy and can do an efficient job and with me not knowing landscaping at all, that means a lot. I will be going back when I choose to do more work with my landscape and recommend that anyone stop by and at least have a conversation with a Moon Valley employee. I'm a happy customer for sure! read more
