Update: We have now been waiting over a month. Moon Valley never got to back to us on the staking of the Ficus trees so we paid for our landscapers to do it (they did an amazing job!). Moon Valley owes us a few more plants, but I'm trying to 'clean slate' the dollars first. As for the $$: Moon Valley owes us a credit of $4,500 on the Wells Fargo 0% interest charge and an additional $428 (which the rep said on 10/16/24 that Corporate was sending a check). I have been texting with Bobbie about every 3 days since Sept. 27 to get this resolved. I'm still waiting. Any advice? read more

I had given a 5 star review in 2017 but I'm not pleased in 2024 with the planting of my tree. I bought a small Palo Verde- 15 gallon and paid to have it planted because it's hard digging in our yard . It was over $400 for tree and planting . When they dug the hole in my front yard it was only the size of the container + a few inches . I asked " don't you have to make the hole 2 1/2 x the size of root ball? " The lead person told me no - explaining that otherwise it could be easily knocked over in a storm . I had paid all that money for a nice big hole and only had a hole the size of the container - in Kaleche ground . I asked a horticulturist the other day about what I was told to justify the small hole and they had not ever heard different than the 2 1/2 x the size of root ball. Im not happy and my tree will have to struggle instead of getting the start it should have had . I'm not recommending Moon Valley anymore . They played me for a fool. read more

Four people working with other people (at different desks) and one other guy was at his desk but on the phone. I indicated that I was ready to check out. He turned away to continue his phone call and so, after 10 minutes of waiting, I just abandoned my cart and left and went to Whitfield Nursery instead. We sadly had to remove an Arizona Ash from our front yard and it killed me to see our yard looking bare so I panicked and called MVN. I was immediately introduced to their tree expert, Matt, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He came out to our property the same day, and helped us pick out the perfect purple plum tree and some bushes to add color to our yard. On the day of install, Scott and his A+ crew arrived promptly at 7am. The crew was awesome and so professional. Not to mention, these guys work FAST. They had the tree and bushes installed within an hour and a half. They even hosed down our driveway after they were finished! Their tree division will be returning within the next few weeks to trim our pecan trees. Needless to say, they do great work. MVN has the best quality and selection of large shrubs and trees coupled with the best customer service you can find anywhere in the Phoenix area. Although we had some major sticker shock the first time we stopped in, we realized you definitely get what you pay for. Matt was AWESOME and was super helpful and patient while we spent several hours wandering the expansive nursery. He made sure we got the best value for our money and made excellent recommendations for our yard based on our neighborhood and style of home. When we came back a few days later after placing our order to discuss some concerns we had with one of the species, he was supportive and let us modify our order and made sure to give us an awesome deal on our more expensive replacement. We ended up purchasing over $7k worth of trees and I was super nervous about dropping that kind of cash based on our experience with citrus in the past, but our yard now looks beautiful with the addition of a HUGE blood orange, large ponderosa lemon and oro blanco grapefruit, four large sour orange shrubs placed as hedges, and a huge Texas Fan ash. The installation crew was timely, professional, and worked neatly and quickly. We HIGHLY recommend Matt at MVN and will definitely be back for more beautiful trees in the near future. We did not receive the service we asked for. On August 1st our neighbors 8 x 8 pergola blew over our block wall into our mastic tree and damaged it. Five of our neighbors were able to pull it back over the wall. We called Moon Valley and they sent an estimator out to look at the damage. My husband showed him pictures of the Pergola in the tree and showed him our tree and the damage that was done to it including making it crooked. We told the estimator we wanted to save the tree and make it look like it did before. It cost us $1200.00 five years ago. He suggested fertilizer and to have the tree trimmed. Since we are not experts in the field we trusted him. Moon Valley is suppose to be a quality company. The fertilizer was put in and only the bottom branches were trimmed for $400.00. Most of the damage was in the upper part of the tree. The tree is still crooked and the damaged parts were not trimmed. Were not sure if cutting off the bottom branches will stress it out more in this heat. My husband called up Moon Valley and was told they would come out again and re stake the tree, trim the damage parts and put in extra soil to cover the damaged roots for another $400.00 and they said we were lucky they were giving us a discount. So basically doing what we wanted in the first place. We wanted to save and restore the tree but what we got was basic tree maintenance. So we still have a crooked tree with broken branches. We will have to re stake and trim the tree ourselves and hope it lives. We feel like we wasted our money. read more

Cannot say much good about this company. We have hired Moon Valley Nurseries to plant plants in our back yard which should have been an easy project; however, has been a disaster from the communication of the company to the plants planted. When the company initially came to plant the 15 plants in the backyard the customer service was terrible. The guy in charge of the plant that day was not customer friendly and rude. They came to plant the plants in less then 30 minutes, planted dead plants, didn't take out some of the dead plants where they were replacing new ones, didn't plant all of the plants, went into my garage without permission and dropped off the moon juice without communication of doing so. After about a week, 75% of the plants died. Moon Valley Nurseries still had not reached out to schedule when they were going to plant the 3 plants that they forgot. Upon many attempts to contact the company, someone reached out to us about 2 weeks later apologizing for the bad customer service and they would be out to plant the plants that still needed to be planted and replace the ones that died under the 90 day warranty. Fast forward to a week later when they came to plant......they only brought and planted the plants that still need to be planted and NOT THE DEAD ONES!! I am now currently in the same position where nobody has reached out to schedule a time yet again to come out and re plant the dying plants. TERRIBLE! My wife and I had just gotten a quote for a large tree from a nearby local landscaping competitor. A 48" Ash for $3,500 plus $100 for delivery & comes with a 90 day warranty. (This is what we wound up paying.) We pass this MVN on the way home and thought it would be prudent to get a second quote. The sign on the 48" Ash trees said 50% OFF! FREE DELIVERY (see photo, yes there's fine print). Great! We thought 50% off sounds good! The young man helping us said the tree was $5,000, and planting was free, delivery was a few hundred, the warranty was a also $100s more. But he said he could probably get us a better price for the tree and left to discuss with someone else. A few minutes later he comes back to where we were sitting and says he made a mistake on the price... Wait for it... $10,000 I'm not kidding. We politely left. read more

I stopped into Moon Valley to ask for some help with a Texas Olive tree that we just got done planning an entire backyard remodel around. The tree is about 15 years old and was not happy about a 3 month remodel project during one of the most brutal summers we have had. Ray West spent about 45 minutes with me showing me their Texas Olives and getting me the fertilizers I needed to get the tree looking great again. We selected two trees and arranged for their planting crew to plan our trees. The planting crew, under the direction of Preston, arrived on time and on the date specified. They were very well organized and did a very good job in planting the trees. Because of the size of one of the trees,, a front loader was required, This was masterly maned by Nate without any damage to our pavers and existing landscape.
