If I could give a minus 10 for this business I would. On May 10,2018 I bought a big box Chilean Mesquite with a warranty for a total of $1,384.99. About 1 month later it blew over. I called for help and was told they could not get out for 2 weeks despite my pleas and consequently the tree lay on it's side for that period. They re-staked it and things seemed to be going ok until late july of this year when it again blew over. The warranty in effect, I called and unbelievably they were able to come out the next day and staked it again with 3 stakes rather then 2 - which should have been done to begin with. The tree seemed ok and had even begin to bud out new growth when overnight it died. Of course the warranty had expired by now so I was out of luck. Removing the tree exposed unbelievable root girdling that if not responsible for the tree dying at this time would certainly have caused it down the line. This tree should have never been sold, period. I have worked over 35 years in horticulture, I know what I am talking about. Now I am without recourse as far as Moon Valley goes. I have replaced it myself with a 15 gallon mesquite from Home Depot that is doing great. I wish I had not been suckered in with all of Moon Valley's hyped "professionalism and done this to begin with. I wasted over a year watering and caring for this defective piece of merchandise. The Home Depot tree looks great and is doing terrific. It cost $49.99. I have learned my lesson the hard way with Moon Valley. Do not be the dummy I was. read more

It's a tradition in our family to go to Moon valley nursery the Sunday after Thanksgiving to get our Christmas tree. Unfortunately it was pouring rain and we didn't think they'd be open, but Sam and his guys were absolutely open and really did a great job taking care of us in the pouring rain. I will never go anywhere else for a Christmas tree, thank you so much Sam Phillips!!!!! read more

Moon Valley Tree fellas removed a very large grapefruit tree (taller than my house with a huge canopy) that had been in the ground since the 70's, I'd imagine. The tree had lived a good life but was on its last leg. The tree crew came out on a Friday and before they started, I told one of the guys that this was a hard decision for me to make and he reassured me I was going the right thing. He was very kind knowing that I felt bad for the tree (no judging! :-P ). They took the tree down all the way down to a small stump sticking out of the ground. Come Monday, the stump crew came out with a bob cat and removed every inch of the root system even making sure that they left the irrigation system sticking out of the ground so I'd not have to hunt it down when I plant there next. I had the chance to talk to one of the stump crew guys and he gave me suggestions on what to plant next. Super great guys and a job very well done. read more

These guys came out and removed 2 trees and trimmed another in about an hour. Great service and price. I would recommend the 7th street team for all arbor needs. Thanks to AJ Davis and his team. read more

Honestly I purchased trees from them and they where great at the store however their 3 month Warranty that comes with the purchase is useless when I was told I would need to purchase another warranty because they would most likely be fine even though the tree didn't take. Honestly things don't fault them for the tree having issues but their support on post plant care is contradictory depending on who you get on the phone. Water less, water more, etc. but I needed up with a dead tree for $600! read more

They run ads all the time in the San Diego Union Tribune. They say take photos of your yard and they will help you design through their app. I followed their instructions and started talking to a digital manager out of Phoenix and not San Diego. After spending my time sending photos and going back and forth, the digital manager has been non responsive. I think it may be that my budget wasn't large enough so they ignored me. At least that's how I feel. Did not try to close the deal at all. What I suspect now is that they are heavy on the marketing but probably very expensive and poor on the service! read more

I'll try to be relatively fair and as brief as I can be while making my points. As with most businesses, there are both positive and negative things to say about Moon Valley Nurseries. In fact, we have a very nice ironwood tree in our yard which was purchased from this business. Glass half empty, it was planted about 10 feet away from where I explicitly instructed the Moon Valley employees to place it. This happened several years ago. The location of the tree continues to be bothersome to me. However, it isn't the end of the world. So, we forgave Moon Valley and recently called in an attempt to purchase several more trees, a species which is commonly found in Phoenix landscape. When I called, I was immediately given a sales pitch and underwent a mental probing by the salesperson who seemed to be attempting to identify other species I could be coerced into buying, while avoiding my initial question; is that type of tree available at this time? After finally growing weary of the lack of a direct answer and the salesperson's attempt to get me to "just come out for a couple of hours and look around," I had to very directly ask him to stop with the high-pressure salesman behavior and just answer the question. To this, he assured me not only that the tree was available, but also that it was available "in every size." This turned-out to be an outright lie. He asked if he could send pictures to me prior to my arrival, a request that I acquiesced to. After some time, I became suspicious that I'd been given incorrect information. I again called and, luckily, spoke with a different salesman. I was again subjected to similar, slimy-feeling salesperson speak. Finally, I was able to get this salesman to answer my question. This salesman told me that they do not have that tree. He continues to explain that "it must not do well in Phoenix, if we don't have it." This leaves me wondering if he actually searched his inventory. It also tells me that he isn't familiar with this commonly seen (in Phoenix) landscape tree. The tree is usually referred to as a feather bush tree, Lysiloma watsonii. We have two of them thriving in our yard with numerous others throughout our neighborhood; it is an Arizona native. Clearly, I've failed to be brief. However, I hope that I've successfully conveyed to you that dealing with Moon Valley nurseries has been disappointing for me. I do not appreciate them planting my tree in a different place than I very specifically asked. More importantly, I do not appreciate being lied-to or having people attempt to manipulate me. Happily, I suspected my salesman was being dishonest and just trying to lure me to the property. So, I did not drive 30 minutes, only to be disappointed. Perhaps, I have also managed to spare others the same disappointment and frustration by providing this review. read more

We are repeat customers, always treated very well by Moon Valley Staff. Bill is always willing to share ideas, and advise on new plantings as well as plants that have been at our home for years. Bill has sent several different crews out to our last two homes, all without exception are so professional and courteous. Denise and Tammy are super helpful with scheduling and planning and we will continue to bring our business to Moon Valley. Thanks Team!!! read more

My wife and I went to this nursery without any idea what we could do to spruce up our existing landscaping. We were directed to Barron and he explained they offer complimentary design consultation. He was absolutely what we needed and helped us lay out our plant design within our budget. We would highly recommend him and MV for projects like this. read more

This nursery is bar far the best experience we have ever had! We went to "look" at getting trees for our back yard- but there was a sale going on we couldn't resist. The man who helped us (Sam) really listened to what we were looking for and suggested a couple options. But what we ended up with is really amazing. We chose 2 Tipu trees to go in either side of our sons swing set. Being that they are drought tolerant, shady, fast growing trees it was a perfect fit. Today we had the crew come and plant them for us. It was an event that's for sure. We have 2 year old twin boys that just want to be involved in EVERYTHING! Needless to say, the guys were so patient and kind with my unruly children getting in the middle of everything. Hey no judgment- it's hard being a stay at home mom. Lol! I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking for plants, shrubs, or trees. Everyone has been just so great to us. Here's to me not killing our trees and having shady days before too long! Thanks Moon Valley Nurseries! Keep up the grea read more

We bought four beautiful, super healthy trees from Moon Valley Nurseries. Robert Lory came out to our home and recommended which trees would look best in our yard, he took the time to help us pick out the nicest looking trees, and his crew did an excellent job of planting them for us. I am excited to watch them grow and bring our yard lots of shade and beauty. Thanks for the great experience! read more

I had a great experience with Robert Lory a few weeks back. He was so knowledgable and helpful as we walked around! He never tried to upsell me, just made sure I understood what each plant would need to thrive. Today John Markel and his crew swung by and planted my hedges and set up the trellis--they were quick, professional, and did an amazing job. read more

Loved that I was able to handle everything remotely for my rental property. Tammy was very helpful and responsive. The crew that came out to complete the work called ahead of arriving, took care of removing a few large bushes and sent pictures of the completed job. Very satisfied! read more

We recently visited Moon Valley Nurseries on N. 7th Street to find some plants for several planters in our home and some shrubs for our tennis court area. Luis promptly greeted us and asked a few questions. He directed us over to the desert plants that he thought would do the best in our chosen area. I was surprised at how quickly we were able to come up with a great looking combination of plants. We decided to take advantage of their planting and delivery services as well and got a great deal on 31 orange jubilee shrubs, 9 agave plants and 5 yucca plants. The team that came out with the delivery and to plant everything were fantastic; very courteous as SO fast! They were done with everything (including watering and clean-up) in about an hour. Its been a week since everything went in and the plants look great and are thriving. Quality plants, excellent service, great prices. read more

I big thank you to Luis Leyva for taking time to give my friend and I complete tour of the grounds and education on the variety of flora. We visited Moon Valley on a whim in hopes of getting some inspiration for our yards; we definitely got that and more! Luis spent over an hour answering our numerous questions, teaching us about the different trees and plants, and helped us come up with more design ideas. He offered to continue with the design process either by visiting our homes or via photographs. He shared his personal and professional experience with a number of trees and plants. Luis is knowledgeable, patient, helpful and kind and l plan to continue working with him as I turn my yard into my personal oasis. Thank you, Luis! Also, a big shout out to Ray for continuing the good vibes and sharing his passion for his work. My visit to Moon Valley was a great way to start a Sunday! read more

I hired Moon Valley to work on my front yard. Spoke with Grant, he was beyond helpful. He drove out to my house after the clock to quote me. Worked with my limited financing and got me a great deal. This place was simply amazing to work with. I did a design myself , but Stephanie took the time on a Sunday to text me back and forth and answer all my crazy questions. My yard is simply amazing!! We worked with Ray on backyard project & it turned out so beautifully! Ray was so energetic & engaging during the whole project & truly exceeded our expectations. He showed up when he said he would, kept all appointments as scheduled, emailed us to check in & even after the plants were planted he personally came over to move a plant that was planted a little too far into another one. His design was great but even more importantly his attention to detail & his customer service really blew us away. One hundred percent would recommend him & Moon Valley & we are already talking about a front yard project & will be asking Ray to help us on that as well! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid and John and the rest of the staff is so helpful!! I love coming here and smelling the fir trees!

I shoped for plants to be installed in the late Fall last year. The most important to me was a Crape Myrtle tree. Planting in early Nov. confused the tree at bit, or at least confused me. I was a bit doubtful the everything would come back in the Spring. I was wrong. By March 15th it had enough leaflets and buds that there is no question that the tree is healthy. In particular Barron Eckhardt, the man I primarily dealt with a gets a gold star for putting up with a fussy old man. I have a more complete review after things were first planted, which this review completes but I cannot find it in that big pile. probably written in Nov. or 2019 read more

I hired Moon Valley, Tatum, to put in some new plants. The first crew came to remove the old plants. They cut off several drip lines. I fixed them. The next crew came to grind out the old plant roots and stumps. They cut the main water line and the electrical line for the yard lights. A different guy had to come out to fix those and we left the lines exposed so the planters would not cut them again. Planters came and planted two of the 14 plants in the wrong place. I asked the to bury the exposed lines. Instead the threw some landscaping stones over them. Back again to move the plants and to removed and replace one that was dead after 3-4 days. Again I asked them to bury the water and electrical lines - nope, didn't happen. I gave 2 stars only because my sales person was a good guy. Never again! read more

We have used Moon Valley Nurseries on many occasions and have always been pleased with their selection and service. Purchased a Christmas tree tonight. Selection wasn't great, trees weren't great, many of the larger trees were dry and brown inside. Employees and service were friendly and good so they get a star for that. I think the nursery is amazing, but I wouldn't buy a tree here again. read more

I wanted to get pricing on a tree. So, i used the live chat on the website. Apparently the chat people don't know anything though, they just hook you up with someone who can give you pricing. So, they said theyd have a "pro" email me pricing. Kind of annoying but hey, at lease i'll get the info right? Wrong. The email i got was simply asking me to call them...So basically their chat feature is just a run around to get you to call them anyway. The person who emailed me to tell me to call them was from this location. What a disappointment. read more

Ok soooo I have a not so great update that is bringing the originally top service down in the dumps. We bought 2 chinese pistache trees, and were convinced to buy a 3rd Brazilian pepper tree. We were talked into the Brazilian pepper tree that was not native to AZ or ok with desert climate and well, it died. They replaced the tree as they had guaranteed... BUT I was told that they would "wave" the ($100) delivery cost if I paid for another ($100) warranty. I declined this and it was delivered at no cost. They did replace the dead pepper with one of the chinese pistache that we already purchased that does very well here yadayadayda. Well, they gave us the smallest tree that likely has a fungal disease from what I have researched so far . The leaves were shriveled up upon its arrival and they still are looking this way even with watering it (in addition to our irrigation). Why give us the smallest and sickly looking tree? We still have plans to landscape our entire front and back yard... so dumb. thumbs down! read more

We just had two large canary palms delivered to our property in north Scottsdale. The Moon Valley guys were amazing. ERIK and his crew pulled up right on time and quickly placed the palms exactly where we wanted them. I would definitely recommend them again for the quality of trees, and the level of professional service during the install. read more

We met with Jonas, who spent a lot of time helping us review the details of our property and select trees and plants for a full landscaping solution to our yard. Just picked up a very nice Christmas Tree from these folks. Very nice and professional throughout the process! Fair price and excellent selection. If you are down with a real-deal Xmas Tree for the holiday season....look no further. Cash or check only. I KNOW. No credit cards. But they had discounts on hand to compensate. ATM also on site. Great process though. Made me feel like I was buying something in a time machine...but I am a sucker for nostalgia. Don't think I've needed to use an ATM in like a decade :) A+ service though.
