Since moving to LA, I always find myself craving for Moon Palace! I make sure to always get Moon Palace when I'm back in Chicago! Ordered for delivery tonight and the food was excellent as always! Def hit the spot! I ordered all my favorites: beef and broccoli chow fun, garlic sautéed peapod sprouts, orange chicken and fish and string beans! Delivery took about an hour from the time I ordered. The food arrived steaming hot and fresh! Highly recommend if you've never tried them!

We chose to dine out for Christmas and wandered into Moon Palace. It was luckily not a long wait-unless you ordered take out that night! Our table was ready in less than 30 minutes and we were served within 45 minutes. We ordered the green onion cakes and egg rolls. Both were very good. Crispy and came with tasty sauces. I had the Mongolian beef which was good. Beef was tender and the sauce tasty. He chose the chicken with vegetables while not a huge portion, it was just large enough for him. They have alcohol but looked limited from my vantage point but I drink common items. He had to find a beer he liked.

Awesome! My husband and I have this random little tradition where we get Chinese food every NYE. Even though 2020 has been a dumpster fire in all the ways, there was no reason to skip the this year. Full disclosure, our normal place had closed, so I took to my trusy Yelp app to help me out. Menu is substantial; lots of options. We ordered, BBQ Pork (wasnt expecting the presentation, but flavor was AMAZING) Potstickers, Orange Chicken, Lo Mein, Chow Mein and Mongolian Chicken (I think?). We got a lot of food! But the portions were solid and prices for sure reflected what you got. Really easy to order using GrubHub and super safe pickup. Restaurant is right next to the Chinatown Fire Station. Will for sure order from here again and thank you for being open NYE (and during a pandemic)!

Never again. My sister has had a recent infatuation with Chinese food lately. Everytime we order out she always wants Chinese. Last week we tried Moon Palace for the first and last time. We ordered delivery from Uber Eats and I believe the total was around $65. We ordered cashew chicken, chicken fried rice, Mongolian beef and beef with broccoli. Long story short, the food had NO flavor. It was just bland. We couldn't even smell it once we got it out of the bag and uncovered. The portion size is generous, but we didn't even bother saving the leftovers the food was so bad. The egg rolls were probably the only saving grace, but even those weren't anything to get excited over. The cashew chicken was mostly cashews. There was very little chicken so it was literally like you were eating a bowl of cashews. The Mongolian beef had noodles in it which I didn't care for, but I guess that stopped them from drowning it in onions. It also wasn't spicy at all. The quality of the meat in the dishes didn't seem all that great, but it's hard to judge since the food was flavorless. The entire experience was just disappointing. Adding insult to injury the restaurant didn't send any fortune cookies either! I typically hold restaurants in China town to a higher standard, but Moon Palace failed on every level.

The pot stickers!!!
Marcia S.

There are dozens of restaurants to choose from in Chinatown. Why is Moon Palace a favorite? Because they offer the best pot stickers I've ever had. They're huge and juicy, with twice as much filling as any other... and always cooked al dente (overcooking makes pot stickers chewy). Last Saturday, my friend and I each had an order of pork pot stickers. We split Mongolian beef and a fried rice. The beef was medium rare (perfect) but overpowered by too much sauce. The fried rice was tasty. Their house sauvignon blanc was excellent. Good almond cookies. Great service. And $2 self-parking in Chinatown's gigantic lot. The big downer was the fortune in my fortune cookie: I already know I'm intelligent and kind... predict when I'm going to inherit a million dollars from a long, lost relative.

One of our favorite go-to places for Asian eats in Chinatown. There are always plenty of people on the weekends. We always start off by ordering Mai Tais and the Pot stickers, they're delish. I could probably just eat a whole plate of those and be fine. The hubby gets his usual of Beef Pepper steak, he loves it. I'll usually try different less spicy dishes. All which have been really good. Lo Mein, soup, and fried rice. Staff are very friendly and if you go enough, they get to know you.

Walking into this restaurant here in Chinatown one does not feel like you are in Chinatown. Where are all the Chinese people?!? The entire night not a single group of Asians for that matter even walked in. And being Chinese, you know a good sign of a good Chinese restaurant is one that is full of other Chinese people. We ordered the Scallion pancakes (two pieces with very little green onions in it, I don't know maybe green onions are too expensive now to add to many), Pan fried meat buns, pork chop noodle soup, Shanghai pan fried noodles, General Tsaos chicken and two orders of xia long baos. The xia long baos were good but the other dishes were just okay. It definitely catered to an American palate. In the past this place was different and served quality food. Now they are busy and not quite the quality I would look for in a Chinese restaurant. Service though was good. But aside from that we likely won't be back anytime soon.

Xiao Long Bao

Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner and they were pretty busy but finding a table was not difficult. There was plenty of seating and tables. I ended up ordering salt and pepper squid, bok choy with mushrooms, Schwezan style fried chicken bits, and their "Xiao Long Baos." I thought their food was alright. I was pretty disappointed on their Xiao Long Baos because it was VERY dry, no soup in the dumplings whatsoever. They should just change the name of their dish to dumplings, because that's what they resemble. In contrast, their salt and pepper squid was pretty tasty. The Schwezan style fried chicken and the bok choy were dishes that were subpar. Wasn't much of a big fan but I still ate it.

Great place for authentic Chinese food. Everything tasted great and very fresh with good sized portions. The only reason this did not get 5 stars was due too service. We came at a time where only three tables had people at them so a very slow night. After we got our food our server didn't check on us until almost the end of the meal leaving our drink glasses empty the majority of the time. Would eat here again but hope for better service next time. Definitely try the soup dumplings!

Our large group was accommodated easily, and we were served relatively quickly after an initial delay while we were waiting for someone to come by. Food came soon after that. We ordered a wide range of things: honey shrimp, beef tripe, pork intestine, Hong Kong style fried noodles. Everything here is solid and delicious. Portions are reasonable too. Ambience is nice, clean, and modern. Only issue while we were here is that some in our group tried to order their baked chicken over spaghetti and they were out of spaghetti. Interesting basic ingredient to be short on here, but rice was not a bad substitute. Would definitely come back here if ever back in Chicago!

You can always count on Chi Cafe for a satisfying meal when hungover. Things have definitely changed over the years. After COVID, the hours became more limited, and the neighborhood has faced challenges that have unfortunately affected the area's late-night scene. It's sad but Chi Cafe still delivers when you're craving quick, comforting food. Whether it's a bowl of noodles, , baked rice dishes, Hong Kong-style cafe classics, or a late-night snack, the menu has plenty of options that satisfy those comfort food cravings. It's the kind of place where you know exactly what you're getting, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. The biggest downside is that prices have increased noticeably over the years while portions seem to have gone in the opposite direction. What used to feel like an incredible value now feels like a clear case of shrinkflation. The portions are smaller, and the bill is definitely higher than it used to be, which can be a little disappointing for longtime customers who remember the old days. Even with those changes, I still find myself coming back here just not as often. There's a nostalgia factor that's hard to replace, and the food continues to hit the spot when I'm looking for something warm, filling, and familiar. For me, Chi Cafe remains one of those places that may not be quite what it used to be, but it's still worth visiting when you're in the neighborhood and looking for a dependable meal.

Be prepared to wait a little bit for a table, or share a big one with another party at peak times. Prices are reasonable and portions are pretty generous. ===== Kind of lost count of how many times I've been. Love getting the dim sum and noodle dishes here. Some favorites: beef cheong fun with egg, siu mai, Singapore noodle, xo rice noodle rolls, spare ribs, pork and century egg congee. All the food has been very solid. Inside is always bustling and can be a bit crowded. Service is pretty friendly as far as Chinatown goes, and very efficient. There's a guy who works there who I think is the manager or something, because he puts in 200x effort and is always hustling. When he's not around it feels like something is missing. Prices are very reasonable and we like ordering a lot here so that we have tasty leftovers for later. This place has quite a few big tables and is good for large groups. My only nits are that very occasionally a dish or teacup will have a dirty spot, and that the bubble tea here is kind of meh. I don't remember exactly which one I ordered, but it was a little watery and lacking in flavor. It's also probably tough since they're boxed in by boba places now. Pro tip: When you first get your table, they'll ask you what kind of tea you want. If you ignore them or don't know how to answer, the default is green tea. Another one is to come at off-peak times. Not only will you get a table faster, but I think they tweak their portion sizes depending on how crowded it is. Definitely will be back! And I recommend you visit too

Stepping past the majestic ancient Chinese warrior statues at the entrance, one is instantly transported. The entire establishment is impeccably pristine and spotlessly clean throughout. The hospitality was top-tier from start to finish. Upon signaling a staff member, we were attended to within moments a level of prompt, polished, and efficient service that I deeply appreciate. I was particularly enamored with their exquisite chinaware; the traditional teapots and matching tea cups bring such a refined, thoughtful touch to the table. For my main course, I selected the Shanghai-style soup dumplings. When served alongside our freshly steeped tea, they proved to be an absolute culinary triumph delicate, bursting with rich, aromatic broth, and executed with remarkable precision. Between the immaculate environment, enchanting ambiance, sublime cuisine, and flawless service, this establishment earns full marks from me. Sunday Funday with a fantastic first visit to a Chinatown gem!…read more I felt like Chinese food today, and rather than eating at my neighborhood regular, I wanted to go straight to Chinatown for the most delicious, authentic experience. Thanks to my deep dive and discovery on Yelp, MCCB turned out to be the perfect spot to achieve this. The restaurant has held its Michelin status for five years now, and for my first time visiting, the flavors here were incredible. Please note: the restaurant signage is not easily visible from the street since the storefront faces inward toward the mall plaza, and while looking for it, I ended up asking a local man and his wife for directions. He was so kind and welcoming that he unexpectedly left his wife on the sidewalk, my husband in the car, and walked me right across the street and into the mall to point it out from the inside! WAIT TIME: there is a 1 to 1.25 hour wait period to be seated for a table, and a $10 fee via credit card is required to secure your spot, which is then fully transferable to your bill upon checkout. The wait is a great time to walk, explore the shops, restaurants, all Chinatown has to offer, and get your steps and miles in! SERVICE: our first server, Allen, was a bit on the stiff, curt side, but overall nice. However, we had to move from a two-top table to a four-top to accommodate all the dishes we were trying. In that changeover, we were blessed to get one of the BEST servers there, Ashley, who made the experience wonderful. FOOD: we ordered an absolute feast, starting with three starters. The Cheng Du Style Dumplings were fantastic. The Crispy Crab Rangoons were actually not mini at all and had a great crunch. The Szechuan Style Cucumber was a bit underwhelming and a slight bit on the soft side for my tastes, as I prefer my veggies crunchy even when cooked. We ordered everything with the mild heat option so there was no overwhelming spice, just great flavor. For the main dishes, we started with the Cauliflower Flank Steak and added broccoli to it, which was a fantastic addition. It is cooked in an oyster sauce and has none of the standard sweeter seasonings of the other dishes. I chose this to balance a sweet and salty rationing across my dishes, finding that MCCB is a great place to get that perfect balance. The Chicken in Spicy Garlic Sauce was perfect with the mild heat option as well, and the Honey Black Pepper Flank Steak was also incredibly savory, tender, and good. We paired everything with garlic string beans, white rice, and a great jumbo shrimp fried rice. I preferred water, while my husband had a few Diet Cokes. The food comes out hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. PARKING: parking is convenient--there is street parking or you can use the two north and south lots within walking distance. The north lot is on Archer and Wentworth, and the south lot is on Cermak and Wentworth. Validated parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 hours, and you will only pay $3 with the validation. Just make sure to stay within that time limit and get it validated, because if you go over the 3 hours or forget the validation, you will have to pay the full price for the lot. PRICE: the pricing here is very reasonable for a Michelin-recognized restaurant. Our dinner came out to just under $146 total, which offers phenomenal value given the large portions and top-tier quality. If you are seeking high-quality, delicious Sichuan food in Chinatown that completely lives up to its multi-year Michelin status, and can be customized perfectly to your spice comfort, this is a great place to go. Highly recommend and will return with family!

MCCB's is one of Chinatown's most popular restaurants and I can see why…read more Pros: The food is very good. My favorite items are the orange chicken, garlic green beans and their dumplings. Although orange chicken is relatively basic, there's isn't! It's crispy, orangey and savory. The best I've had. Their green beans, easily rival din tai fung's and their dumpling super good as well. A great broth, bouncy chewy wrapper, and super flavorful filling! The restaurant itself is cute & service is pretty decent, as well. Cons: Their crispy chili chicken wasn't my favorite, but I'm not the biggest fan of Szechuan chilies or dark meat. There was also a tang in the after taste of the chicken that I didn't love, but it was fresh and the crisp was really nice! There's also almost always a wait and the place and tables are pretty small, so if you're like me and like to order a lot of things, you may have trouble fitting things.
