We visited moondrops awhile ago and I was blown away by how beautiful the place was. With the high ceilings , sleek design and decor, they had some amazingly comfortable seating also available. Was glad to find this place open when we were driving to another restaurant for dinner because we were celebrating. It was a nice experience overall. Let me tell you about this amazing Sex Dream I had recently. I've actually had it multiple times--over and over, and it's just as good now as the first time I had it. I'm talking about a drink, people! But in all seriousness, "I Got My First Real Sex Dream" is probably the best bar concoction I've experienced in a while. Bourbon (made in-house), espresso, and peanut butter syrup with a cinnamon stick garnish. This drink may actually be better than sex (dreams). From the first time I ordered one at Moon Drops Distillery, I was already looking forward to the next time I could visit. Moon Drops Distillery has been my go-to place as of late. Three times in just the past five weeks, I found myself walking through their doors. The chill vibe, great spirits, and the Sex Dream (of course!) keep me coming back. They also have regular live music. Last night, I loved listening to the Bluegrass Jam Session. Bluegrass and bourbon just work. I could feel the cares of my week drifting away with each pluck of the upright bass. I'm looking forward to warmer weather when they open up the back patio and even collaborate with a local cigar shop. I've yet to take home a bottle, but I will be correcting that error soon! We've been here a couple of times and they always have the best cocktails. They change seasonally so there's always new drinks to try. We just came here over the weekend for their Annual Mash Bash and we had to much fun. 21+. No dogs allowed. I recommend you bring a lawn chair so you can have some sips and enjoy the live music. I don't remember the name of the band, but they were all women and they ROCKED! Definitely some great tunes and we had such a fun time with our group. After years of waiting for this place to open, we finally checked it out. It's a small tasting room with a bar, no bar stools, full bar, beer and wine. The tasting room has some tables and chairs and a few smaller tables with living room type chairs. It's brightly lit. There is a stage in the corner and a gift shop as well. The drinks were decent. I preferred the old fashion ( old man and the moon) to the perfect manhattan (something classy). My girlfriend quite enjoyed her A Little Bit Alexis. So many options- locally distilled spirits (my favorite is single barrel & lemon shake up,) beer & wine choices, cocktails, and a few snacks. My guest and I ordered 1 flight & tried 4 spirits. A few little nibbles were included. Friday night was the time to be there and be seen. Great sitting areas, bar tops and space to mingle. This is a fun, simple place for great drinks! There's a variety of seating around, it was all taken when we were there but we didn't mind standing at the bar! It's neat to see all the distillery equipment while at the bar. My husband got a flight of different liquor and fun bonus - it came with snacks! That was an awesome touch to cleanse your pallete while having different liquors. I wanted to get the lemon shake up but it was only on the flight menu. The bartender said I could either have it in a slushie or he could make it into a cocktail for me. I chose the cocktail & it was excellent!! Not sure what to make of this place. Building is gorgeous. Inside set up is great. BUT, they don't have any of their products ready to go yet. So, not sure why you would do a tasting. What a gem! Plenty of parking and around the side to the entrance. There is an ID check (21+) at the entry. At the bar you can choose from a list of drinks, build a flight, or choose from local beers and a couple of wines. Only cards are accepted as payment. The seating is a bit limited, but the green chairs are so comfy! We visited on a night with live music, and it was a little loud, but the music was great! This was not an enjoyable visit. To start, the customer service was terrible. I asked for recommendations and was met with a stone wall. I asked three separate times, all of which were ignored. I finally said, "I want you to make me a loyal customer, what do you recommend". The bar tender then said, "do a flight and pick any 4 drinks". Well, the flight consists of 4 drinks, which you pick from a list of at least twenty drinks. So, the customer service was poor to say the least. As for the bourbon, it's not good at all. It's all around 120 proof and has a very strong alcohol taste, not the good kind. It's sad because the distillery had a cool space and has a lot of opportunity. Unfortunately, I will not go back and will not purchase any Moon Drops from any establishment. read more

The cocktails were unique and we couldn't decide which to order so the bartender (kind and knowledgeable) recommended we do the flight to get an idea of which moonshine flavors we liked. We had gone with friends previously to Moon Drops so after a dinner out, I suggested to my friends (a group of 14 of us ) that we go there after dinner. The bartender was extremely rude to my one friend when she asked what beers were on tap. When she asked him to repeat them he kind of rolled his eyes like she was bothering him. She was so turned off by his attitude she didn't order a drink at all When I ordered my drink, he was not friendly at all. Never smiled never greeted anybody, never said hello or goodbye. Another one of my friends wanted a glass of Chardonnay and they were out of that. I was so disappointed as I brought 13 of my friends along with me. I really want this place to do good but they need to talk to their staff about being more friendly and accommodating to their customers. read more

Then when I went up to the bar to order a cocktail, I got out my wallet, and they said that they don't take cash unless it is exact change. I can't justify the price so I told them to cancel my order and the bartender then tried to justify the cost by telling me how many shots were in the drink. The tasting room is finally open! It's small but clean and quaint. A great place to grab drinks before or after dinner or even before heading to a movie. Delicious hand crafted cocktails made by very polite, knowledgeable and experienced local bartenders. Drinks are average priced to slightly expensive but c'mon, you're at a family owned distillery and not a franchise! In my opinion you get what you pay for here and the price is worth it. If you want cheap drinks, this isn't the place. Also they do not have a kitchen but they do allow you to carry in food. Will definitely be back and am thrilled to add Moondrops to the Fortville business community! read more
