Came in for an hour in between weekend events to check out the space, the bartender was very friendly and checked on us a good amount. Definitely great customer service. We didn't get to try the full menu this time because there was an event being prepared for. I'm excited to come back and try their bourbon flights and other specialty cocktails. We did get some shots of their signature lemon drop and pineapple distillery made spirits and they were really good, the lemon drop was my fave and my husband liked the pineapple a lot. Great distillery just outside of Indy in Fortville. Sampling their Lemon Shake up and Coffee moonshines, a 7 year bourbon, a Single Barrel and a limited release finish tawny port barrel bourbon. We visited moondrops awhile ago and I was blown away by how beautiful the place was. With the high ceilings , sleek design and decor, they had some amazingly comfortable seating also available. Was glad to find this place open when we were driving to another restaurant for dinner because we were celebrating. It was a nice experience overall. Tried a flight based on some recommendations from the server... and ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. Planning on coming back again soon. read more

Let me tell you about this amazing Sex Dream I had recently. I've actually had it multiple times--over and over, and it's just as good now as the first time I had it. I'm talking about a drink, people! But in all seriousness, "I Got My First Real Sex Dream" is probably the best bar concoction I've experienced in a while. Bourbon (made in-house), espresso, and peanut butter syrup with a cinnamon stick garnish. This drink may actually be better than sex (dreams). From the first time I ordered one at Moon Drops Distillery, I was already looking forward to the next time I could visit. Moon Drops Distillery has been my go-to place as of late. Three times in just the past five weeks, I found myself walking through their doors. The chill vibe, great spirits, and the Sex Dream (of course!) keep me coming back. They also have regular live music. Last night, I loved listening to the Bluegrass Jam Session. Bluegrass and bourbon just work. I could feel the cares of my week drifting away with each pluck of the upright bass. I'm looking forward to warmer weather when they open up the back patio and even collaborate with a local cigar shop. I've yet to take home a bottle, but I will be correcting that error soon! We've been here a couple of times and they always have the best cocktails. They change seasonally so there's always new drinks to try. We just came here over the weekend for their Annual Mash Bash and we had to much fun. 21+. No dogs allowed. I recommend you bring a lawn chair so you can have some sips and enjoy the live music. I don't remember the name of the band, but they were all women and they ROCKED! Definitely some great tunes and we had such a fun time with our group. We go to a lot of festivals and it was nice to see some spirit and beer brands we hadn't tried before. Definitely come here and support local :) read more

My husband and I had such a great time at Moon Drop Distillery's Mash Bash! The ticket prices were super reasonable, especially with all the tasting options available throughout the event. After years of waiting for this place to open, we finally checked it out. It's a small tasting room with a bar, no bar stools, full bar, beer and wine. The tasting room has some tables and chairs and a few smaller tables with living room type chairs. It's brightly lit. There is a stage in the corner and a gift shop as well. The drinks were decent. I preferred the old fashion ( old man and the moon) to the perfect manhattan (something classy). My girlfriend quite enjoyed her A Little Bit Alexis. This place is great. Very quaint small vibe inside. I wouldn't say they have food at all, but they've got a few light snacks if you're hungry and food trucks on the weekends. We drove past this place maybe 10 times. It always looks closed. So, tonight we stopped and it was not the greatest experience. The young lady couldn't recommend a drinks. WHO KNEW that lil o Fortville could be a cool place to hang out? I've been angling to try Moon Drops and finally made it. So many options- locally distilled spirits (my favorite is single barrel & lemon shake up,) beer & wine choices, cocktails, and a few snacks. My guest and I ordered 1 flight & tried 4 spirits. A few little nibbles were included. Friday night was the time to be there and be seen. Great sitting areas, bar tops and space to mingle. Very easy to have a conversation (as long you're not stopped by friends walking in the door!) Moon Drops has given me and everyone else in Fortville/McCordsville & Geist area a place to enjoy our community. read more

This is a fun, simple place for great drinks! There's a variety of seating around, it was all taken when we were there but we didn't mind standing at the bar! It's neat to see all the distillery equipment while at the bar. My husband got a flight of different liquor and fun bonus - it came with snacks! That was an awesome touch to cleanse your pallete while having different liquors. I wanted to get the lemon shake up but it was only on the flight menu. The bartender said I could either have it in a slushie or he could make it into a cocktail for me. I chose the cocktail & it was excellent!! You can bring your own food in (almost everyone seemed to bring in Pizza King since it's close!) They also have food trucks on the weekends or they have some snacks on their menu as well. Lots of merchandise for purchase & plenty of parking. No cash though, card only :) read more

Service was decent. However, there was only one person working when we arrived (Friday at 6:30pm) and we were told that orders were only being taken at the bar. My boyfriend and I were excited to try a new place. The cocktails were unique and we couldn't decide which to order so the bartender (kind and knowledgeable) recommended we do the flight to get an idea of which moonshine flavors we liked. What we received was jaw dropping. The amount of moonshine in each glass was quite literally a sip and not even enough to truly taste it. $15 for 4 sips. We couldn't believe it. It's a nice place but we will not be returning. read more

Not sure what to make of this place. Building is gorgeous. Inside set up is great. BUT, they don't have any of their products ready to go yet. So, not sure why you would do a tasting. Now, the drink menu is good, and I'd certainly have an old fashioned or two on the patio. Pax Verum beer on tap as well. I'll be back when they pop their barrels. read more

What a gem! Plenty of parking and around the side to the entrance. There is an ID check (21+) at the entry. At the bar you can choose from a list of drinks, build a flight, or choose from local beers and a couple of wines. Only cards are accepted as payment. The seating is a bit limited, but the green chairs are so comfy! We visited on a night with live music, and it was a little loud, but the music was great! This was not an enjoyable visit. To start, the customer service was terrible. I asked for recommendations and was met with a stone wall. I asked three separate times, all of which were ignored. I finally said, "I want you to make me a loyal customer, what do you recommend". The bar tender then said, "do a flight and pick any 4 drinks". Well, the flight consists of 4 drinks, which you pick from a list of at least twenty drinks. So, the customer service was poor to say the least. As for the bourbon, it's not good at all. It's all around 120 proof and has a very strong alcohol taste, not the good kind. It's sad because the distillery had a cool space and has a lot of opportunity. Unfortunately, I will not go back and will not purchase any Moon Drops from any establishment. read more

We had gone with friends previously to Moon Drops so after a dinner out, I suggested to my friends (a group of 14 of us ) that we go there after dinner. The bartender was extremely rude to my one friend when she asked what beers were on tap. When she asked him to repeat them he kind of rolled his eyes like she was bothering him. She was so turned off by his attitude she didn't order a drink at all When I ordered my drink, he was not friendly at all. Never smiled never greeted anybody, never said hello or goodbye. Another one of my friends wanted a glass of Chardonnay and they were out of that. I was so disappointed as I brought 13 of my friends along with me. I really want this place to do good but they need to talk to their staff about being more friendly and accommodating to their customers. read more

The staff was very rude. She was very 'snarky' when we asked about the flavors of the slushies. Then when I went up to the bar to order a cocktail, I got out my wallet, and they said that they don't take cash unless it is exact change. When I asked how much my drink would be, they struggled to figure out the price even though I ordered off of their menu. Several minutes later I was told that it was going to be $18. I can't justify the price so I told them to cancel my order and the bartender then tried to justify the cost by telling me how many shots were in the drink. Don't ague with me Moon Drops, I just don't want to pay your crazy prices! read more

The tasting room is finally open! It's small but clean and quaint. A great place to grab drinks before or after dinner or even before heading to a movie. Delicious hand crafted cocktails made by very polite, knowledgeable and experienced local bartenders. Drinks are average priced to slightly expensive but c'mon, you're at a family owned distillery and not a franchise! In my opinion you get what you pay for here and the price is worth it. If you want cheap drinks, this isn't the place. Also they do not have a kitchen but they do allow you to carry in food. Will definitely be back and am thrilled to add Moondrops to the Fortville business community! read more

There was no doubt that the soup was fresh made. The soup was creamy with gooey cheese. The broccoli was sour fresh. The bowl was huge. I also ordered a small wedge salad, which turned out to be huge. The salad was covered generously with bacon, blue cheese and grape tomatoes. We explored the event center, which was spacious. The outdoor patio was inviting, even on a freezing day. There is plenty of parking in their dedicated lot. Accessible spaces are available near the entrance. West Fork puts Westfield on the map. I ended up getting a White Negroni that was made from their gins. From what I gathered, they wanted to differentiate a bit and made gin as their launch products. The founders of the distillery are also fans of this particular spirit. Slowly but surely the canned cocktails started coming into the market. The Lemon Shakeup was a hit at the State Fair, and the Cherry variation came out next. The bitterness of the gins came through but the tartness of the fruits balanced out pretty well. The Spiced Apple Sidekick and Sipper Club are brandy-based cocktails that were released in the Fall. Both of these varieties were ideal companions for the cooler temperatures. I was able to visit the distillery at the state fairgrounds for their holiday market. There are still plans to open a taproom and restaurant in the future. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Hi & Mighty at various events and venues.

This was a birthday gift from my kids and, to be honest, I was apprehensive but now that I've done the class I'm a complete convert! It was fun, educational, and of course tasty! Hotel Tango is a local distillery, and this was our first visit. The building is unassuming, but once inside it was a beautiful space with plenty of seating, lots of drink options, and a cool 'vibe' even for those of us who don't frequent bars/distilleries/breweries. I could see myself hanging out there sipping on a bourbon and chatting up the bartenders or other patrons either inside on a comfy couch or out front on the patio. But that isn't why we were there. For my birthday, the kids got us tickets to attend 'Tango U' which is a somewhat frequent offering at HT. The class was made for 8 attendees, and included background information on the distillery, spirits in general, and in depth looks at two drinks. Our class did a traditional Old Fashioned Cocktail and a drink called 'Orange is the New Wack'. We learned about proper technique, why drinks are made the way they are, and more. Mark (our bartender and/or Mixologist) was fantastic. He told stories from the industry, was a great resource on spirits and drinks and such, and answered what seemed like hundreds of questions from all of us. He made the class enjoyable and educational. The Old Fashioned was our first, and upon completion we had time to enjoy our drink and chat with others in the class as well as Mark. It was a very 'spirit forward' drink (look at me with my fancy new terminology) so you could really taste the rye. Not my usual choice, but good nonetheless. I made it, so it had to be so. After the class enjoyed a break to sip and chat, we started on the second drink and learned additional techniques, more about liquor and made a 'sweeter' (my term) drink which was more my style. I admit, I could have had three more of them, and probably twice that if I was sitting on the beach somewhere sunny. When the class wrapped up, we were allowed to hang out and chat, ask any more questions, or head to the bar and order something else to try. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend it. I'm not a huge drinker, nor do I geek out over cocktails and craft beers, but it was fun, and I'd do it again for sure. 5 stars for the bar/distillery itself and 10 stars for the class!

The service was great - I had a great time drinking and hanging with the bartender and other patrons (Casey and James). I had just finished dinner across the way and wasn't ready to head back to my hotel yet (tourist visiting for the weekend). Came here to grab a pour of their whiskey. Ended up ordering the peated bourbon, which I thought was tasty and not overly peated or too strong of peat flavor. What I thought was a quick drink, turned into hanging out with the folks here talking about football mainly. There are TVs here so college football was on as well. Having a drink here and meeting the folks here will be one of my more fond memories of this Indy trip.

I love a unique drink with ingredients that surprise you and that's something I always find here. The spirits they distill are top tier and made with the same thoughtfulness that goes into their menu planning. They host a variety of great events- flower workshops, trivia, movie nights, etc and bring in great food trucks regularly or allow you to bring in or have food delivered.
