I've taken several trips to Indianapolis over the past 13 years, and Hotel Tango has always been a place that I wanted to try. Finally, the stars aligned this trip as a de facto Saturday happy hour prior to dinner plans with family. It wasn't crowded at all, and I was able to park in their small lot out front. Two cocktails later, I'm taking home a bottle of their toasted marshmallow whiskey "'SHMALLOW"

We visited Hotel Tango last night. What a great atmosphere! The staff was friendly and helpful. They took the time to tell us about their drink menu and made suggestions. We liked everything we tried with 'Shmallow being my favorite! When we found out they offer mixology classes we immediately put that on our list of things to do!

YEEEESS! WE HAVE A WINNER! This niche little spot is easy to miss while driving by, but don't skip out! It's rustic charm and comfortable seating is topped with a bar that serves mixed drinks with only their crafted liquor selection! They have many intimate sections with tables spaced enough apart to feel a sense of privacy even on busy evenings. I'm joking about having my birthday there... but is it a joke? I loved our experience, here! Taking all the out-of-towners to experience it with us.

On, Sunday August 31st I decided to go down to Fletcher Place area there was only a few businesses open during the Labor Day weekend. I decided to go to Hotel Tango since I saw cars on their parking lot. There are plenty of parking spaces front, back, and as well as street parking. It wasn't my first time there, however it was my first time going there that's not during Christmas season. Entering the building no stairs at all not even to go to the restrooms. Very accessible building, nice spacious building that offers plenty of seating everywhere. Hotel Tango building is in the historic Fletcher Place, and the building itself is historic too that used to be a part of a horse barn over 100yrs ago. I sat at bar where the Bartender at that time was Valerie. Valerie very sweet, people person, very helpful on the drinks, and there was another female Bartender at my time there which I had forgotten to get her name. Hotel Tango menu is themed as Summer Camp that's very nostalgic. I didn't eat food only had drinks there and the drinks I had were the Tent Time Martini, Passion Fruit Margarita, Shmallow shots(2). I met a couple there that was visiting Indianapolis from Chicago which they sat at the bar next to me. We, talked, I gave them some suggestions on things to do or eat in Indianapolis, we laughed, drank & enjoyed the last Sunday in August. I wish that Hotel Tango could stay open late, but they can't since the neighborhood is historic. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the vibes and more drinks there.

Let's start with the fact that we had 3 cocktails, a drink flight and nachos for $63!! Very affordable! Service was outstanding! (Zach) The nachos are absolutely the best I ever had and the drinks were delightful. I really enjoyed being able to sit comfortably by the fireplace , playing games while having my food and drinks. 11/10! I will be back!

This place is so inviting and welcoming! Staff is super friendly and the service is just like you would imagine! I haven't tried a cocktail here that I didn't like. They know how to make a drink! We got the sugar plum fae! A seasonal drink with cranberry basil infused gin and plum simple syrup topped with Prosecco. I mean come on! Delicious!

Cozy spot for tasty cocktails. Creative mixology and I love anything Fall inspired. Service was friendly at the bar, drinks made well. Small parking lot available up front. Would love to return when fire place might be lit.

Great drinks! Nate the bar tender is such a great mixologist! Glad I could try the new cocktail menu on the day it came out!

The vibes here are immaculate. Such a unique spot that I would say is a must when visiting Indianapolis. The vibes and bar was great and even cooler because we could bring our doggy. We got the chips and queso, which was a wildcard starter, but it actually ended up being pretty good. We also got the TWISTED SISTER Pizza with house vodka sauce, pepperoni, chicken, banana pepper, red pepper & hot honey. It tasted phenomenal. I was happy with the quality. Lastly we got the Sandwich with brisket, mayo, bbq sauce and a cheese. This was great as well and again a great quality smoked meat.

We've been coming here for years and love this place for their great service and craft cocktails. I like that they have a rotating seasonal menu so we can go back and try new drinks. They recently changed up their menu and every item we tried was so good - pizzas, pretzel bites, nachos, charcuterie board, and their cheesecake flight. Dog friendly and 21+ facility. There is parking in the back as well.

A moment of appreciation for their rotating cocktail menu! I love trying something new and seasonal every time. Also definitely stop by in December for their "Salute to Santa": the whole distillery is decorated incredibly for Christmas. One staff member told me the decorations took 160 hours!

Hotel Tango has to be the best spot to grab cocktails in Indianapolis! We decided to stop here on a recent trip to Indy, and we wish we would have gone sooner so we could have gone back again! First off, it is a dog-friendly spot INSIDE. How great is that? They do have a house cat :) The staff who were working were amazing. So friendly and helpful. I ordered an espresso martini first because I needed some caffeine, and it was good. I ordered the "I'll have what she's having" next, and it was THE best drink I have ever had! It had their house made 'shmallow liquor, lemoncello, key lime, and lemon bitters. ($12) I had to buy a bottle of the 'shmallow to take home! Hotel Tango will be a stop on our list every time we are in town! You have to visit if you haven't already.

Ask the Community - Hotel Tango

My husband's birthday is approaching in May and I was wondering if you do bourbon tastings at the restaurant?

    Is Hotel Tango dog friendly?

Yes, very much so. You can bring your pets and/or service/ESAs into the establishment.

Do they still offer half-priced drinks on Mondays?

Would love to try the fried shrimp at some point. The accompanying aiolis perfectly complemented the sliders! I completed my meal with a lemon drop martini. Service was friendly & attentive. Will definitely keep this spot in mind the next time I return to Indy & would highly recommend to others. In fact, I found it superior to my experience @ Harry & Izzy's--much more my vibe!

Even though they were busy the wait was not very long and the host was so nice and I wish I could remember his name. Our server was so nice and kind and made great recommendations. I had the mocktail Nohito and it was sooo cute and delicious! The others had cocktails and a bottle of coke (yes glass bottle)- cute right?! Now we had the Karange tofu and I need that recipe! The drinks, the ramen, the dessert...we love it all, and we love spending our money at a local business. For years now, the kitchen has substituted rice for ramen for me because I have gluten intolerance. I have always asked respectfully, explained why, and said thank you, every single time. Tonight my husband and I walked down to Strangebird for dinner, ordered drinks and dinner, and I had *just* said to my husband that Strangebird has come to feel like a second home. Then the server came out and told us that the chef has decided they will no longer permit any modifications, including those that meet dietary needs. We were out on the quiet patio surrounded by other customers, so on top of being totally blindsided, it was actually pretty embarrassing, too. Folks, let me tell you how much I wish I could just eat the ramen noodles like everybody else. So much food that I love (and in some cases spent years learning to make myself) went out the window forever when my body stopped being able to handle wheat. But at Strangebird, I could still go in and enjoy the depth of flavor in every other component of a bowl of ramen. And that meant the absolute world to me. I'm heartbroken.

Keagan Fife (Manager) - A team player, receptive to feedback and conscientious. We had a issue while there and he was able to step in and problem solve with me and come up with a solution that really won us over. We had a moment where it was feeling a bit "why did we come here" but his customer service exceeded expectation. That's good management. (He's the gentleman in the video below.) Let's get the negative out the way 1st. The first waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. I told her we hadn't received menus. She came back sat them down and walked away. We never saw her again. A new waitress came and she seemed pleasant enough. Once we were all seated she began to take our orders. She made a point to say she needed to write it all down or she was get it mixed up. She then did not write anything down. Our food came out extremely slow but that wasn't a huge deal because we all were mingling. A lot of her team had to step in and deliver our food, give drinks, check on us etc. She was pretty non existent. Two of the ladies never received food. This was after we had been there for 2 hours and everyone else had received their items. At the end when we asked for our check they were all mixed up and confused. The waitress then blamed us for adding things and moving around. We never moved once and she only came around the one time when she originally took our orders. We never got a chance to add things. (it was quite comical that she tried to say that) I ended up asking for manager because she seemed overwhelmed and a bit bias about our group. Assuming that we wouldn't want one check and splitting them because she figured we would want it that way and then blaming us because she did it when we never asked for split. There rule is parties over 8 have to have 1 bill and we never asked for an exception. There was just her assumption that a group of black women wouldn't want to do that. (I digress) There were a few more things but I will end it there. That was the big negative. Now the positive!!! Ambiance 10/10 - great views, great music, great location, umbrellas on roof were great although a but wobbly and scary. Also, they come around with complimentary sunglasses while dining. I thought this was a nice and luxurious touch! Food 8/10 - most food received was delicious Service 9/10 - everyone except for our server was great! Everyone who pitched in to help was awesome! Ended up tipping a different server who basically helped us the whole time. Bless his heart because I know he was super busy. As stated above management handle the situation well. I would definitely go back! I try to give people a chance. I think our server may have been overwhelmed and had a past experience that left her bias against our group but hopefully she can grow and get better. Her actions don't reflect the restaurant as a whole! Go and enjoy the vibes and views!
