Hey All. I can't say enough good things about this dental office. Let's be honest and concentrate what is this dental group about, dental and oral health. Reading some bad reviews about some non sense frustrations about scheduling and misspelling somebody name??, but not about real work, and level of technology those guys have in their office, it doesn't sounds right. Let me tell you, comparing to my previous provider, Dental Works, this is one modern facility, totally revamped with up to date medical equipment. Initial check up went smooth, with digital X-Ray, digital photos, and total evaluation. Doctor Hermann did explain me what it should be done with priorities, my previous provider even didn't mention to me, beside charging me up to $200.00 over my existing insurance coverage for regular teeth cleaning ??? now thats frustrating, and their equipment was looking 50 years old. Hygienist, was very professional with obviously relaxing approach and elevated feeling of experience behind their practice. This is my second visit, and I'm telling you, this is outstanding dental studio, and stuff is great. They will work with your existing insurance coverage, and give you estimate of work should be done, before your next visit, ... priceless !!! It's really hard to find honest dental office, look no further, this is one. read more

Getting a cavity filled is never fun but if you need it done, or any other dental work, this is the best place I've found in Chicago

Stay away from them! They are all about money! They let you wait on small fillings until they get worse, just so they can make more money off of you! I had a horrible tooth issue and they kept blaming the pain on a tooth I had a root canal on years ago. They refused to even touch the tooth they were saying was the problem, because someone else had done the work! I went to another dentist and it turns out they were completely wrong!! the tooth they were saying was the problem was perfectly fine!! I am now grateful to them for refusing to touch that tooth! It forced me to go to someone else and find out that they have no idea what they are doing there! I now have a GREAT dentist thanks to them!! A great dentist far far away from them!!!! read more

In September 2016, I was flying from Philadelphia to Chicago, when my cap along with the tooth root fell out leaving a hideous empty space. It was the tooth beside my front tooth! No way to hide. I just had this cap put on in April. Needless to say, I was in a complete panic. We had made a lot of plans. I needed a dentist asap on a Friday afternoon in a busy city! My step daughter called Montrose because they were close by her house. They squeezed me in and saved my weekend. Painless and friendly too! The dentist had great suggestions. I had to go back the next morning for a clear top piece to wear over my teeth and hold the tooth in place if it fell out again before I got home to PA. They sent the X-ray to my dentist back home. AVOID. I used to live around the corner from here, it was sooo clean and super-convenient to see Dr. Ngyen: They were always open Sundays (that way, no need to take any time off from work) Also, I do not have dental insurance, so cleaning was a bargain at $75.00! I called to make an appointment this week and Dr. Ngyen is no longer there? Sadness. I did not even get a phone call, an e-mail or a postcard! What's even sadder- I called to make appointments for both my boyfriend and I for a Sunday cleaning- I am told only 1 and 3pm is available with a new female doctor I have had before. That's cool- Ravenswood is gorgeous and there is plenty to do... it's a mild inconvenience that I go shopping or Boyfriend indulges in Starbucks, right? A few days later I get a polite voicemail message asking me to call back "To Confirm your 10am appointment!" What? I thought it was 1 and 3pm?! A touch frantic, I call back and guess what? Boyfriend and I can now be seen simultaneously- at 11am. Truly, this was what we wanted, but the roundabout musical appointment confusion was annoying... hope it was a fluke? It was not. LOOK AT ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! To tell you the truth, my experience was like one of Ben Stiller comedies where it gets worse and worse... and worse... mind you I had no malice but it was beyond ridiculous given my previous positive experience. I go in and am told (twice) I have to fill out "New Patient Paperwork" which would be fine and dandy... except I've been coming here since 2004 or 2005. After spelling my name three or four times to a rotating staff up front (Really, how many hands do you NEED on deck? I am not a new patient, I have referred a number of people here and my appointment has already been rescheduled by your staff a couple times already- couldn't you have my file READY like a professional?) So then a very nice girl finally recognizes me and goes "in the back" to get my records. When she returns she announces that she found my file- but only up to 2008. I had surgery in 2009, and had been in since- so this is most distressing to me. Where could you have lost my records? XRays? My social security number? I am annoyed and a little distressed now... I still have to fill out paperwork... it feels like punishment. My boyfriend Does NOT, though we always come in at the same time to get cleanings. Makes no sense. Now mind you the staff is cheery, but profoundly disorganized- far too many very nice girls bouncing in and out of cleanings, xrays, phone duties, front desk with no idea what was going on or means of letting the next girl know what is going on. It is comical to watch unless you are getting treatment and they LOST your records. I get xrays, cleaning: The staff is very kind and have small hands that I feel makes the cleaning through. I am told the Dentist needs to perform an additional exam- but the dentist is a guy, not the female doctor confirmed, expected to see. This would have been okay, but I would have preferred a professional heads up first via phone call. Now, I had no issue whatsoever with this Dentist- but you rescheduled my appointment randomly twice, announce you lost my records/file, and now you throw in a random different doctor? Holy Crap, that is not a mistake, that is a series! I am told by the Dentist who is flipping thru images on a big flatscreen so fast I cannot keep up... the numbers are shuffling and not explained but I have two "almost cavities" and some discoloration that I will need to come back to fix as soon as possible... to the tune of $612.00 (I still have the receipt). No, no, no, thank you. I am told if I pay up front I get a discount- Yeah right, not going to happen! Beyond sticker shock- I dread finding out what else can go wrong, especially in terms of financial numbers! As I head out the door, yet another new girl takes my payment and asks us to come back in six months, though the Dentist said ASAP- which sums up my sad visit: Disorganized from start to finish. Bottom line- if you are looking for solely a cheap cleaning, have plenty of time on your hands and paying cash- the staff is sweet and well-meaning and the cleaning gets the job done. However, if you have anything other than a standard cleaning, dental insurance that you are submitting to, a history of dental issues or need additional work done I would definitely go elsewhere, Which is, sadly, what I am going to do. P.S. I removed an additional star because I got a PM from Dr. Hermann that made me very mad, can forward to any who inquire, I already sent it to yelp. Reading comments posted by others on yelp show I am not alone in negative experience here! "Dr" Hermann- An apology is how you SHOULD professionally respond. If you post any of my medical history- on yelp or anywhere I will report you for a HIPAA violation, understood? It's hard to give a positive review to a dentist, but I definitely think the bad reviews at Montrose Dental Group are a little unwarranted. There's nothing fun about going to the dentist, seriously. But this experience was as good as you can get for getting drilled in your mouth. I had spoken with a few receptionists before coming in and they did a good job of finding out whether my insurance was accepted, and accommodated my last-minute need to switch appointment dates. It had been embarrassingly too long since I last had my teeth cleaned. Guilty as charged. I let Dr. Hermann know this when he first saw me. He wasn't judgmental about it, but he did let me know about the dangers of going so long without a cleaning. What I really liked about MDG was that Dr. Hermann did my cleaning for me, and not a dental hygienist! I don't think I've ever had that happen to me, but I felt a lot more comfortable with him going in there. I have a loose tooth and made it a point to let Dr. Hermann know about it so he could be aware when cleaning that particular tooth. I ended up needing a cavity filled, and that took only about ten minutes. I will be back (in six months, I swear!). read more

I certainly hope that my the incident that I shared earlier is not typical of your office. It definitely seemed like something was "up" that day, and I left feeling like I had just felt the brunt of something that had happened earlier in the day. I believe that ownership had just changed over when I went for my appointment. I believe that Olna S., who comments below, is the actual dentist who was working on me. As for wanting the chance to respond directly, well: it's been over a year since the original incident and you have my file and contact info; the incident was so bad that I chose to not bother with your office any more rather than report your behavior to yourself (ie, if Olna is going to say that I never reported the incident to her, that is ridiculous because it was her incident); and yelp allows for person-to-person messaging - I will still gladly accept an apology. I do appreciate that other reviews seem to indicate that mine was an isolated incident and you are otherwise a decent practice, but - quite frankly - I will always be apprehensive about going to the dentist from now on because of that incident, and your lack of ownership of your behavior a year later - talking about the incident and review as if it wasn't you - is just kinda lame. read more

I've taken my 4 year old daughter here for the past year and a half. This place is clean, looks nice and refreshing, and the staff as a whole is wonderful. We've never had any problems. The dental assistants are always sweet and try to make her feel as comfortable as possible. That's very important when working with kids - especially mine, who used to be terrified of "the chair". I love how nice and friendly they are with her. The doctor is nice too. He's thorough and does his job as he's supposed to. No complains with him, either. Been with these guys for about eight months and could not be happier. Had my second cleaning. The dentist actually did most of the procedure!!! Have never seen that before. Also, checked for cancer in my mouth and I don't use tobacco. Again, never seen that before! Super job! Dr. OlnaHanna Szekely has done two crowns for me and both times her attention to the details was amazing. No pain. Explains everything clearly. If you need a dentist go there! I have to say, I found this dental group online and made an appointment without looking at Yelp. When a friend told me I should check out their rating, I was terrified I was headed into some hellish experience. But it was just the opposite so I wanted to make sure I added a review. Few things to note, the office is all new. The equipment and facilities were top-notch (which is always nice). The staff were really friendly and helpful. They explained what my insurance would cover up-front and always stopped to ask if I had questions. Lastly, I'm a rather nervous patient. My teeth are sensitive and my mouth is small -- a bad combination. Dr. Hermann picked up on that quickly and told me I could raise my hand at any point and they would stop whatever they were doing. It made me feel in a bit more control of the experience so I was able to relax. Finally, due to my small mouth I am used to dentists barking at me to "open wider". (Umm, this is as wide as it goes!) This was the first time I didn't get barked at. He just managed to do the cleaning without my mouth opening to painful levels. Overall, it was actually a decent experience. I mean, it's the dentist so it wasn't magnificent or anything, but I scheduled my next appointment six months away and am actually planning on following through. read more

Dr. Hermann, his office and his staff is amazing! Great space and impressive technology. I came to him in a bit of an emergency and he gave me immediate attention. I am very pleased with the final outcome. Dr. Hermann is very nice, he's very detail oriented, compassionate and perfectly conservative, one of the best dentists I've ever had. I'm not confident about dental cost but it seems more expensive than usual. However, they did work with me which made it much easier. They were super helpful with dealing with insurance and made it very easy for me. I would recommend Dr. Herman at Montrose dental very highly. read more

Very unprofessional and experience. I submitted a online website request to schedule an appointment over a month ago. A few days later I got a call to which she provided me some of the next appointments. I explained to her that I can't do those days and asked if there was any Saturday appointments. She took a look and discovered one a month away. I told her that would work. She told me I was scheduled and asked for my insurance information which I provided. Fast forward, I took a half day off work to make sure I could make the appointment. The day of I take a Lyft due to traffic and parking to get there. I arrived 5-10 mins before my appointment and provided my name to the receptionist. She said what's your name again as she couldn't find my information on the system. I provided her a a second time and she stated she did t have anything on file for me for today. I glared in disbelief. She proceeded to say we built a chart for you but your not scheduled today. Me as a patron is not responsible for entering my information into the system. Instead of stating let me see if I have any appointments for today she states she can look at rescheduling me a week out. At this point it is a little scared that an appointment wasn't documented let alone the person handling any of my medical information. There was no accountability for making the mistake. I proceeded to leave because at that point it was a joke. Then, I had to take a Lyft back home and essentially wasted a half day of pto. Thank you!! read more

this is probably the worse place ive done business with. I had dentures made by them less than 6 month ago they already broke twice and the first time they try to charge me 100 to fix them I complained enough that they let me slide now they broke again and they're charging me 229 dollars to fix seems outrageous that they can't warranty one of there products kinda sad bcuz the quality of the dentures aren't good and shouldn't be breaking as much as mine has not like im chewing rocks or something read more

I had a couple fillings, and cleaning with Dr. Szekely recently. She is excellent! One of the best dentists I've ever been to. She was extremely friendly, and professional. I told her I get anxious from dental work, so she kept talking to me about different things, and explaining everything to me while she was doing it. Really soothing, and warm. Makes you want to go to the dentist again! She also did a great job with my fillings and cleaning. I had no pain during the dental work, and no bite problems or pain afterward. I just had a wonderful experience with Dr. Desai at Montrose Dental. I'm one of those people who are terrified of any dental procedure, even a simple cleaning. Dr. Desai and staff were compassionate and empathetic, continually asking how I was feeling and doing all they could to put me at ease. They kept me waiting less than 10 minutes, which is important so that I don't work myself up into a panic and flee the office (precisely what happened after waiting 45 minutes for my last dentist!). Any time I became frightened, Dr. Desai would stop and patiently wait for me to regain my composure. She seemed genuinely concerned with my comfort, and she understood how important it was for me to feel I could pause the proceedings at any time to calm myself down. I thought I knew how to floss and brush, but after the cleaning, Arlene the hygienist took time to show me precisely how to do both. I learned a great deal: the proper way to brush is in little circles, not up and down; it's important to brush the top of my teeth as well as the sides; brushing with baking soda (as I've been doing for 55 years) is too abrasive for everyday. Arlene even gave me a warm moist towel for my face when we were done, a charming little touch which made a world of difference. I'm still terrified of any dental work, but it helps to know I've got the staff of Montrose Dental on my team. read more

I had the pleasure of working with both dentist, Dr. Herman and Dr. Szekely. I highly recommend both dentist. They both were gentle with my mouth and kept asking if I was comfortable. What I like most about Montrose Dental, is everyone goes out of their way to make you comfortable. Both dentist had conversations with me about my teeth in a way I was able to understand. I not only liked how they treated me, but also appreciated the politeness and respect the hygienist were given. I was not sold anything unecessary and felt that everything they said I needed or suggested was reasonable. Very happy, will continue being a patient. read more

After reading some of the reviews, i was a little skeptical about coming into this office. However, I did notice that the reviews filtered actually had good ratings (recommend reading), so i took the chance to come in since it was located close to my work. When i called to set an appointment, the receptionist who answered was friendly and able to work around my schedule (great hours for those who work late and are only off on weekends). She was also kind enough to call my insurance and explained my benefits before i was seated during my visit. After i finish filling out the new patient forms, I was immediately greeted by an assistant who brought me in to take some X-rays. She was very kind and took her time with me during this process and took additional x-rays at areas that i felt sensitivity. The office is very updated with their technology and i was able to see these images immediately on a screen, in which Dr. Hermann thoroughly explained any problems I had and created a treatment plan that was affordable. During the cleaning, he was gentle and thorough, unlike the previous dentists i have visited. Overall, it was great experience and i recommend others to come in. They have a great staff and are very professional/knowledgeable with their work. read more

Dr. Hermann mildly abusive, unsympathetic, pushy, expensive. If I've neglected professional care and let my teeth go, it may be that some of the prerequisites for dental school include sadism, greed, and dishonesty. A little tolerance and humility, please. May be good dentist technically. I thought I was making an appointment with the female dentist at the desk when I walked in who had some good reviews (all my male dentists have been horrible), but noticed she had filled in Dr. Hermann later and I gave him a try through I could find no reviews at the time. read more

I only have nice things to say about Dr. Olna and the assistants are very nice, and they really seem to care about their patients.Although you can't please everybody. The place is very clean and well organized. I'm half way done with my braces treatment and so far so good. My mom was very unhappy with a past employee that used to assist Dr. Olna ( but there is a reason she doesnt work there anymore). Dental work doesn't come cheap but thats understandable. Had my dental exam here last week, and I can honestly say my teeth have never felt better or looked whiter! My female dentist ( I forget her name :-( ) was awesome! She really went over my dental health with me in detail and explained any questions I had. The hygienist was awesome as well.
