For many people driving north from Banff on 93 to Jasper - this restaurant sits at the corner of Connaught & Haze Avenue. It's upstairs and there's actually an elevator you can take. Seating area is plentiful and it overlooks the western side of Jasper which sadly was greatly damaged in last years devastating fires. I was there for a late lunch and had a brisket and pulled pork burger with fries. Servers were nice. Price was fair given the location Would return again. read more

We stopped here after a long drive on Icefields Parkway and it was decent. We had a party of 7 and they could seat us right away, which was all we were looking for in a restaurant that day. It's a large space with a lot of seating, a bar, and TVs playing different games. Our server was friendly but didn't check in too often, making it a nuisance when we needed more napkins and water. I ordered the smokehouse wrap and it was jam-packed with filling. The tortilla was a bit thick, which made the ends solely tortilla that's honestly too much to enjoy, but I liked that it was toasted. The flavor on the inside was nice, if a bit heavy on the barbecue sauce. The fries were good, nice and crispy, but nothing special. This is a solid meal if you're looking for a relaxed environment and filling food, but I wouldn't seek it out. read more

The food were great, but the manager was pretty rude. When we just finished eating she came to us and said "People are waiting. I need this table". Like we were not customers or we weren't going to pay? When the bills were ready, she just threw the bills to our table so we had to find our own bill from the pile of bills. When we were paying, she left a few times so we had to wait for her to put the amount to the pos machine. At some point she shout "you still own me 57 dollars, who is that?" Jesus Christ. Finally, we had packed some food, and when we just stood up she literally threw the box to one of us, like we were not leaving fast enough. Just unbelievable. We couldn't help but wondering if she did this to every customer or just because we were Asians. Anyway, this was the worst experience I ever had in Montana's. Very decent place to have lunch after a full day of exploring. The price isn't too crazy, the food is pretty good and the service was great and absolutely welcoming! We had the 9 bone ribs with the chipotle honey sauce bbq sauce. it was a tad bit dry, but it wasn't too too bad. It was definitely enough to share with. This chain was never great, but the view and reasonably priced food at this location pleased us on an early visit. As we ordered drinks, I asked for the special "Fire it up" double on the menu. The server said that it couldn't be done and the manager told us that only applied to "well drinks." I pointed to the menu that - as anyone can see on the photos I've posted here - makes it clear the price applies to all of the drinks. We stayed and had our formulaic chain restaurant dinner. It was OK and still reasonably priced. Later, I tried getting in touch withe chain's headquarters. They answered my messages, but did nothing. There are so many better places to eat, and I prefer not to dine with people so uninterested in customer service. Someday, maybe, if I'm stuck in an airport and this chain is the only thing open, but even then I'll look hard for something else. read more

Came for some ribs which I enjoy at Montana's. I was having a pretty good meal and had almost finished it, when I looked up at the salt shaker there was a big black hair inside the salt shaker . I obviously didn't finish my meal, and told the server about it. Asked for me bill and they didn't offer a discount or a free drink to try and make amends. If you like Montana's food with half the flavor and half the menu options, you will love the location in jasper. We got deep fried pickles and garlic bread and cheese appies, that were mildly good, however the burger was salty and had a prefrozen taste. Our party of four went to this place last night and it was not a great experience. While the food was really pretty good, the service was very slow (took us more than an hour to get our entrees) and there were errors with some of the food served. The restaurant has only been open for a month and a half, which might be the root cause of the issues. I think most of the service problems were due to the kitchen not being able to make the food fast enough and correctly. As for the food, three of the four of us in the group had the pork ribs and they were delicious and the cornbread was very good as well. My recommendation would be to let the place get the kinks worked out before trying it out. read more

Wasn't happy with the food or service here. The food varied a lot from the menu that you find in a big centre. They didn't put the sauce on my chipotle burger, they also used pickled jalepenos, not deep fried. I wasn't happy with the meal. The bathrooms were dirty and were not maintained either. After an unexpectedly long day of hiking, my partner and I were ravenously hungry and thirsty. It was pretty late, and we assumed as a chain that Montana's would be open and provide an okay-tasting hot dinner with a reasonably quick turnaround. Our expectations were the most basic any person would have from a restaurant like this, and it somehow failed to meet them. Our server was nice but did the bare minimum and didn't take care of drink refills. The food took over an hour, and when it finally came out, was disappointing. It's REALLY hard to disappoint a couple of hungry people who paddled and hiked all day. My fajitas came out lukewarm. The whole sizzling cast iron thing is a presentation gimmick, but I would expect the food itself to be fresh and hot even without the sizzle. At that point, I didn't want to send anything back because it was late and I was hungry. If I could turn back time, I would have just gone to a grocery or convenience store and bought some milk and cereal. read more

If there were 5 families of 4... would they be turned down too? Everything was fine until we were almost done with our lunch. This older lady who happened to be the manager started cleaning an empty table next to us. My Son was just wandering around minding his own business, just being a kid. He was standing by the window admiring the Jasper weekend street traffic. My son is 4 years old. She passed by our table multiple times, and I could tell that something was bothering her. The restaurant was fairly empty and there were multiple tables empty around us. At one point she started cleaning an empty table and came to my wife to ask her to be "Seated" - in a very rude and condescending manner. My wife was standing next to her chair. This lady came back again and this time to tell my Wife to keep my child "Off" that area as she is going to have someone seated there. Again in a very condescending and rude manner. My son was nowhere around that table, He was on his chair or by the window behind our table the whole time. I didn't want to ruin our vacation so we decided to just ignore it for now and deal with it later. As it was getting very offensive & we were almost finished with our meal - I decided to ask for my check. I could see her going to her server and pointing in our direction and saying something. My server arrived with our bill and left the POS for payment. I paid the bill, while we continued to finish our meal and were planning for dessert. This is where it gets interesting - This Manager came around our table and started clearing our table while we were still eating our food & waiting for the dessert that came with the kid's menu. She took the plate away from us while we were still eating. We were shocked and speechless. We felt humiliated!!! At that very moment, our server arrived. I confirmed with our server if that lady was her manager (which she confirmed, yes that rude lady was the restaurant manager) and briefly told her how we felt. Before I could finish my sentence, She broke down in tears and apologized. She mentioned that she was having a very difficult time with her. Holding back her tears, She asked me about the desert but I declined and we left. We are still trying to figure out the reason behind the Manager's hatred towards us - Could it be because we were the only person of color in that restaurant at that time? I am going to escalate this complaint and hold her accountable for her rude and condescending behavior. It amazes me that the restaurant claims to be a family restaurant but shows a complete lack of empathy towards families with young children. Took our family with 3 kids. Great atmosphere, decor that's fits the mountains. Kids menu was great, and they really catered to them. They loved being able to draw on the table. The adults split a platter to try varieties of BBQ on the side. Highly recommend doing this. Great friendly staff. Would recommend to other families. read more

Went there last night. Unless you are going for BBQ find another place. One of our party got the pork ribs and said they were very good. The kids eat all there kids meals so that was good. Don't bother with Nachos. I paid $20 for a bag of chips. There salsa is not good, too sweet. Service ok. Manager came to our table and was empathetic about our situation and offered to discount our meal 50% and mentioned there were several complaints tonight about her service. There were 7 of us, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 kids. I will start with the good. Nice decor and friendly vibe. Prices ok for the area. Chipotle firecracker burger was pretty good. Accompanying garden salad sucked though. The bad is everything took forever. A full 45 minutes from order to when food arrived with no acknowledgement of the delay. Finally asked where the food was and it came a few minutes later. Also took 15-20 min to get an order in and about 10 minutes for those drinks to come. Overall really really slow and the food was not worth the wait. read more
