Was looking for a German Chocolate cake and in my search I found this bakery. The pictures online looked amazing so I went ahead and ordered the cake. Come time to pick it up it was nowhere near being true to the advertisement. We still got a German chocolate cake, but was highly disappointed in the final product. Felt like I got scammed. My father, who the cake was for, called the company and explained to the man on the phone that the product we got was falsely advertised and not what we were promised at all. The man on the phone was rude and not understanding and was very arrogant. No one in the family likes tradition frosting so thought this would be a nice alternative. However, it didn't turn out this way. Surprised with how horrible the cake turned out. Lesson learned. read more

I had breakfast here recently with a Meetup group. I had a hot turkey sandwich, a French waffle pastry and a large hot mocha latte. It was all fairly good, especially the pastry. They call this place Danish, but most of the pastries are pretty standard American stuff such as bear claws. read more

We ordered ahead and when we went to pick it up earlier than we thought would give them time to get it ready--how surprised were we that it was! Lightning fast. We sadly did not get any of the goodies like danish or other tempting offers. We instead got to-go a turkey sandwich on multigrain bread (delicious bread!) with avocado, provolone, Mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. We also got the Greek salad, and split both. The salad was plentiful and filled half of two large plates, containing lots of olives, feta, etc., and the sandwiches were also perfect to split, and were large and delicious. It doesn't seem like a turkey sandwich and a salad are much to go on about, but they were really good. We were quite contented and would definitely go there again. Maybe next time we'll allow for some goodies or two or three or four. read more

After eating breakfast my wife and I had a taste for something sweet. We decided to check out Mona's Danish Bakery and see what this authentic Danish bakery had to offer. It's a quaint, cozy little shop located in a strip mall near the Ace Hardware store. A small glass enclosure holds the baked goods of the day, there's an espresso machine, a small grill, and fresh baked bread lining the wall. We ordered a cinnamon snail to share. There are taller snails and shorter snails. We ordered a tall one because it has chocolate icing and is softer and more ooey-gooey. The shorter ones are crisper because of baking. We were very pleased with our snail and enjoyed wonderful conversation over this delicious roll. read more

The pastries are good. But croissant no better than Costco. The breakfasts are nothing special though there is a lot of food. Two of us with breakfasts, a side croissant, and medium coffees plus tip was nearly $50. That's way too much for a place where you have to order at the counter & wait for people to clear out so that you have a place to sit. Staff was brusque but maybe understandably so as they were very busy. Did not give us a receipt. Might carry out pastries in the future, but won't go for a full breakfast. read more

Just discovered this (new to us) bakery for breakfast. Lucky find and well worth a little jaunt from Oro Valley. We had one basic breakfast--eggs, meat, toast, potatoes and another Mona's European breakfast which consisted of smoked salmon, capers, cucumbers and tomatoes, hard boiled egg. All excellent. Returned two more separate days for Mona's "Rustic" bread which we had had toasted the previous breakfast. Delicious! read more

I've been looking for a bakery that has top notch product. A bakery that has good variety, consistent quality. I have found it! The product is second to none. I have now used this bakery three times with the utmost in satisfaction. No, I have not had the breakfast offerings yet because I can't get past the baked goods, pastries, standard offerings, seasonal treats and cultural items. The staff is helpful, courteous and professional. You can sit down for a meal, take all the time you need to look at the goodies, coffee etc and leave there knowing you have discovered a bakery that cares about the trestles, not just the profits. They have easy access to the store, convenient hours, and a varied menu. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed. read more

I asked why and was told cook didn't come in due to last night, which I took to mean due to excessive 4th of July festivities. My husband and I drove 1/2 hour to Mona's for lunch/breakfast on Sunday August 27th, 2023. We got there at 1:15 and they close at 2:00. When we arrived all the chairs were up on the tables, and they were counting their money. We were told we could only have a cold sandwich, or a salad. No breakfast, or anything hot. If we wanted to sit down they would put two chairs back down on the floor. The woman behind the counter was very abrupt, and we felt very unwelcome. We left, and don't intend to return. Be careful using credit card for purchase. My card company notified me I was double charged. I had tried to tell the girl at the register at the time that it had already pinged that the charge went through on my card. She insisted that I was wrong and that I needed to swipe again. Today my card company notified me of the double charge. I phoned Mona's manager (Steve) to let him know so he could train the employee. Steve argued with me and called me a f***ing bitch and to come up there to get my f***ing money. Steve made all kinds of excuses so not sure he understands how the credit card machine works either. We came in here on a slow Sunday afternoon, looking for some great Danish, and we found it! I ordered a Strawberry French Waffle, which was basically strawberry cream filling sandwiched between two slabs of buttery croissant. It was delicious, and the croissant was very flaky. They have quite a menu here, which also includes some breakfast sandwiches. They are a little overpriced for what you get, but I still think it is fair, since it is a local business. The only problem I encountered was the soda fountain. The soda came out tasting very chalky, as did the water. It really needs to be cleaned. read more

I patiently waited my turn in line and then she proceeded to wait on me and another person at the same time. it was confusing as I couldn't tell who she was talking to. I tried the egg, cheese, potato and meat burrito. It was very limited in size, I.e. there were very few ingredients, minimal eggs, few potatoes and salty thick chunks of turkey bacon. I could not taste cheese so I opened it up. I couldn't see cheese so I took it to counter. I was told that indeed, they had put cheese in but it all "melted so you can't see it" and I guess the melting also meant I could not taste it either. Believe me, for $15 a pop, I'll go around corner to Bisbee Breakfast Club. This was certainly not worth wait or cost. They need to be generous with fillings. This is smallest breakfast burrito I've had and fact I couldn't get them to add cheese ( there was none on their seriously) when you could not see or taste it was absurd. I find Danish are hard and flaky. Its more a bakery offering things we'de like but not there. Breakfast are usually so so. The owner screamed at me last time in due to unable to hear with hearing aide on. QNever an apology nor did they buy my breakfast which was still wrong 2nd attempt. I was actually traumatized for a couple of days from him screaming at me.. I see lots of seniors in there so I hope he treats the rest of them better . I'll never return. read more

I went in inquiring about gluten free options because they were advertising that they serve full breakfast, the woman behind the counter insulted my intelligence telling me that I should know what gluten free is etc.... I visited Mona's about a year ago. The food was good, but the service lacked. Then, I returned last month, and I can tell you that the food is still great, and the problem with the service has vanished! They have great sandwiches, my fav is Veggie number 1. And, the bakery goods are second to none! Great cup cakes, turnovers, cookies, and more! I visit at least three times a week. Where else can you get food and bakery goods of this quality in Tucson? I've looked, and Mona's is the only consistent place which I have found. Mona, if I might make a suggestion? How about some Danish sausages?
