Its funny, more then 10 years ago someone asked me if I was gonna stop at Mom's kitchen for dinner and I had no idea what that was. In fact, the first time I looked for the place, I drove right past it. I really can't express in words how much I love this little place. I get a warm feeling inside just walking in the door. Sadly many of the servers that I knew are gone, but occasionally I spot a familiar face and it makes me smile. All the daily specials are amazing, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. Today I opted for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and as usual, they were toasty, melty and delicious. The iced tea is the nectar of the south and served up cold and refreshing. Had lunch there today after a long absence. There are new owners and a few minor changes. The menu is large, particularly the breakfast portion. Serving sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. Service is exceptionally good and the food is terrific. This is not a place you go to linger; the noise level is excessively loud. There is no ambiance but the place in clean and organized. Mid~century tacky is a good descriptive word for the interior but their decor works. Go for the food - it's excellent and the servers are friendly, efficient and accomodating. It is always busy and deservably so. We look forward to returning. Our first time there and it is very small inside, which is fine just something to consider when going out with more than 4 people. Food and service was good very laid back and cozy homestyle feel. Omelette and pancakes were big and good portion size too. One thing I personally loved was the coffee cups and you can put your own creamer in, kind of felt like you were visiting someone's house. My son's favorite restaurant. We normally go for lunch or late breakfast. Even though it's busy we don't wait long. My son always gets pancakes and it's always delicious. Came in here couple of times the owner of this establishment is only worried about getting money. Ordered two breakfast meals with my partner and the server said it would be cheaper to order a certain meal and that she would sub pancakes with french toast. They charged us 4 dollars each more a meal to switch pancakes with french toast but told us after the fact. We ordered potatoes with our meal and it never showed up. We were never checked on by our waiter the entire time. When the bill came we asked them to take the potatoes off our bill that we never got and the owner of the restaurant had a huge attitude. Instead of being apologetic for horrible service she was more worried about still charging us the entire bill. When we asked for a receipt the waiter gave us a copy and the owner snatched it away from us. Overall because of the way they treated us I wouldnt come back. They dont care if you have a great experience or not theyre worried about getting paid. read more

Best patty melt ever! Of course a restaurant with the name Mom's should be a down home experience. Mom's doesn't disappoint. The patty melt was a generous sized patty between two Texas toast slices with melted cheese onions and a side of fries. I ordered the patty medium well and the kitchen delivered an awesomely prepared sandwich. It was succulent and before the first bite the aroma was enticing. Well worth it! read more

I had breakfast here on Christmas morning with a friend who has been here a few times. He explained to me that this restaurant is known for serving homestyle dishes including their famous biscuits. You have a choice of grabbing a stool at the counter or sitting at a table. We picked a small table off to the side. The interior is plain and simple but very outdated. Guess that's part of the country charm? I was fine with it even though I wasn't impressed. The holiday decorations were cute and I liked the cool green retro style stools at the counter. We had a fantastic waitress who was very accommodating especially since they were short staffed due to a cook calling in sick. When I asked about the chili she gave me a large sample. I didn't care for it because it was very watery. So glad I tried it before ordering a chili cheese omelet! My friend had some concoction of veggies, eggs, cheese and maybe potatoes? It didn't look pretty but he loved it. I had the bacon cheese omelet & the bacon was extra crispy like I requested. It was very good but it was big so I only ate half. The tater tots were out of a bag but they were extra crispy so I was happy. I thought it was strange they didn't have any bagels. They are known for their biscuits so that is what I ordered as my bread option. My biscuit was mushy and inedible. Our server offered/insisted to put it on the grill to crisp it up for me which I appreciated. Even after being on the grill it was still to soft to pick up and eat so I ate part of it with a knife and fork. It was good but messy. I guess country cooking isn't my cup of tea because I would have been happier with a bagel and cream cheese. I did notice a lot of biscuits being served & I also noticed that the other guests were enjoying them and they weren't sending them back like I was. My friend liked his and didn't complain at all. I heard this restaurant has been around for many years and they are a very popular local spot so obviously they are doing something right. When we left the place was packed. If I was in the area I wouldn't mind coming back and having another omelet but I would hold off on the biscuit. This is a cute little old fashioned diner with retro counter stools. They open at 6am and they are right by the turnpike so it's a perfect start to any road trip. They always have a ton of stuff on the special board. If you're a big carnivore dan they had skirt steak, ribeye, New York and pork chops. Almost all their breakfasts come with 2 eggs and home fries , grits or hashbrowns. Luckily the waitress informed me that the home fries were deep fried (I prefer on a griddle). They also had chicken and waffles and several types of French toast all on the board. Then there is the menu with your typical omelets and some more eggs specials. My husband got the "Moms supreme" it was sautéed onions mushrooms and peppers on top of shredded hash browns with American cheese then topped with 2 eggs any style. I got one of my go to breakfast of a western omelet with American cheese and opted for grits. Omelet was cooked perfect and had just the right amount of stuffing inside. Thanks mom for a perfect breakfast for our road trip. Other things to mention : if you order coffee and do not finish it they will not give you a to go cup without charging you for another cup of coffee. This is understandable for extra coffee but come on, I'm a slow drinker and I gotta hit the road, I'm not a lingerer at food places. I am usually on the move when I'm out and this was a bummer. Also parking can be a bit of a pain they have about 4 spots in front and they are slanted so you can only access from the 2nd entrance. Parking around side is usually better but I have seen the parking lot get filled up. read more

What I got was an extra hard biscuit that tasted like it was still a little raw or old, sausage patty definitely tasted dry and like it had been sitting out for hours. This place opened in 1980 although it may have opened under a different name before then based on the decor. I don't know the history of the building. The name says it all just like the food you would eat at home in Moms Kitchen. Portions are plentiful and some good home cooking like meals. whether it's Breakfast , Lunch or Dinner or just a late night snack you'll be delighted.
