Momotaro, with its counter seating area.

During a chilly overnight stay in Paso Robles with a craving for a nice, hot ramen soup, we found Momotaro Ramen online and decided to give it a try. The full name is Momotaro Ramen - Japanese Soul Food. Momotaro is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Paso Robles on Spring Street, a small restaurant in a building that seemed to be a food court of sorts, housing other eateries. We arrived shortly before their closing time and decided to take our order to go. We both chose the "shoyu" ramen ($17 each), described on the menu as "double broth · baby bok choy · marinated shiitake · ajitama · scallions." For an "extra topping" we both selected the "spicy ground chicken" ($4 extra each). Our total order came to $45.68. The young man who took our order advised that the spicy chicken was "moderate to very spicy" and, as we were to discover, he did not exaggerate. The to-go order was very nicely presented. The broth came in a large container that looked bigger than a quart but smaller than a half-gallon. Fitted atop that in its own container were the vegetables to be added in. In a completely separate container was the spicy chicken which was more appetizing than it looks in my poor photo here. Once all the ingredients were combined, the result was a very tasty, generous portion of ramen - certainly a meal in itself. The chicken was - as mentioned - SPICY - so we both took it easy on that, but added in enough to give our ramen an extra "zing." We were very pleased with our order. If you find yourself in Paso Robles with a craving for ramen - Momotaro Ramen is your go-to place. Recommended.

This is truly the best ramen spot on the central coast located in Paso Robles Market Walk. Growing up in LA, I can honestly say this ramen competes with some of the top ramen spots I have experienced. Momotaro offers authentic ramen defined by its depth of flavor, especially when it comes to the broth, which is the heart and soul of their dishes. Most importantly, every ingredient is homemade and their toppings are another area where their authenticity shines. The chefs showcase precision in cooking authentic homemade ramen - their talent is what keeps us returning. Overall, Momotaro's authentic ramen made with homemade ingredients is a carefully crafted dish where every element is designed to complement the other. The patience and care that go into making each component from scratch result in a symphony of flavors that transports you to a traditional ramen shop in Japan. The result is far superior to any shortcuts found in ready-made versions. It's an experience you can taste in every bite. The Paso Robles Marketplace is lucky to have such an authentic ramen spot to attract so many visitors.

Very well put together eatery, very clean and well maintained. Flavors were great, I am planning to go back to try each dish they have.

It was a surprisingly authenticated Japanese ramen in a small town. The location was little strange. It was inside of a indoor market. The staffs were friendly. You can sit anywhere including outdoor seats, they will deliver to you. The vegetable ramen was bomb. They grilled the mochi (2 pieces) till crunchy outside then dropped it into the soup to imitate the meat. The soup was thick and chunky. They cook it so well even the veggies inside were extra flavorful. Such a mouth rich of experience in a bowl of noodle. Will visit again when I'm in town.

On our way back from Santa Cruz, going through the town of Los Robles, we decided to try this location since it had one of the better Yelp reviews and it's ramen. Located in this industrial, trendy, social media picture spot, the exact location would be in the back center part of the building. This building had an amazing bakery, some good coffee, sandwich places, fruit stand, etc... it had it all. But we came here for the ramen. I've eaten hundreds of different ramen locations, from ones in Japan, to SoCal area ones, to East coast restaurants that claim to be authentic. This place, made with lots of fine details, but not be Japanese staff was pleasant surprise. The flavor of the soup was really good, just the right saltiness, the oils not over powering, and can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Noodles were the thin style (Hakata style), which worked well with this level of ramen. We also had some appetizers, the rock shrimp and gyoza. The rock shrimp was like eating a softer version of walnut shrimp, but with pineapple sprinkled on top to give it the sweetness, and the shrimp delicately fried just right. Tiny pieces of walnuts scattered, I stead of the big halves made each bite perfect. The gyoza was surprising as well. Wasn't expecting the thing style of wrappers, almost like an egg roll, but the taste of gyoza. Out of the two, I would go with the rock shrimp. Service was friendly and helpful. Lady that took our order, also brought it up to us on the top level dining area. Plenty of round tables, so no worries of just sitting at the counter. There are steps leading up or can take elevator. Lastly, the price is a bit ... higher end than I normally would pay at other ramen places. It's roughly $25 for each person eating here. But I can see the value on the work to put together these dishes. This is some thought, love out into each dish. The chefs must have had specialize training to make these dishes be the way they are... this isn't a Cooke cutter type of ramen, this is the type of food you expect from people that studied ramen making from Japan. Different, modern, and tasty. Wish the containers would be more appealing, but hey, we're here for the food.

This ramen place really surprised hubby! He was very happy that he was able to have ramen soup ahead of a few days of wine tasting and drinking! They had good selections of sake but no Kikusui which was kinda weird. The ramen was very flavorful and comforting. I figured that would prepare his stomach well enough for all those reds for a long weekend. Service was very friendly and attentive. For Asians who love noodle soups? This is a solid place for a bowl of comfort ramen!

Doing another review of my Son's and I favorite spot in Paso Robles to eat. Momotaro has great ramen, my favorite being Shoyu. Their broth is rich and deep with flavors. It's must try of your just visiting or a local. Located in the "Paso Walk" neighborhood and it's a great way to start your adventure in Paso Robles.

Quick Summary Excellent food with a small countertop bar dining area. There are tables upstairs if you want to mix and match restaurants (they're pretty stern about not allowing other foods there; and you would have to use a to-go bowl to use the different table areas). Service was a hit or miss though, but food was fantastic. Food- 5 stars Gyoza- I was pretty impressed with the gyoza. They added the crispy bottom that really added a nice crunch texture to the gyoza. Would recommend trying it Momotaro ramen- the Tonkatsu broth was fantastic. The pork chashu was very good as well. The noodles did taste packaged and not house-made; it was good but not great. Overall, it was a splendid ramen bowl Service- 3 stars This was a hit or miss. The owner/manager was really helpful throughout. But some of the staff weren't the best. There was an egg missing in 1 of our ramen orders, and one of our friends had their order completely messed up. It is relatively new, so giving them some benefit, but it was a bit of a mess at times Bottom Line Excellent ramen spot. Definitely try the gyoza!

My Ramen Resume: I'm from LA and Orange County where I ate plenty of amazing ramen. I traveled to Japan three times before Covid. I even make my own ramen from scratch after not being able to find ramen in LA and Orange County that matched Japans. I know the difficulty of making a decent ramen bowl. I was sitting at momotaro bar excited to be there. The smells from kitchen reminded me of Japan and gave me flash backs of the bowls I ate there. After reading some reviews I wasn't worried. Btw parking is not that big of a deal like one person made it out to be. Find a spot and walk over. Not that hard. I started asking questions about momotaro to reaffirm what I was smelling from the kitchen. I soon realized I was in for a treat. They were going to open in 3/2020, but had to postpone for obvious reasons. Still opening up a few months later during Covid. They survived through that time and that told me they have to be good! If you're still reading this. I never write reviews this long. This tells you I highly recommend it here. The momotaro ramen was amazing. The broth is stupid good. It was rich and temp hot! I enjoyed every sip of broth. They give a good amount of noodles I've ever seen. It almost felt like it was close to double the standard amount. The char shu was good, but that broth and noodles is a winner. I finished the whole bowl and was so stuffed. I also got to try some of their Japanese style white bread with matcha. They use this bread to make their sandos on Thursday. I didn't catch her name, but the woman at the front was very informative and also is the baker of the bread. I was pretty bummed that I didn't have enough room to eat a sando. That bread was pretty damn good. I am sad that I found this amazing place so far from home. But it gives me a reason to come back.

Ended up at Momotaro Ramen while walking around in Paso Market and it was a great unplanned dinner! We ordered the Katso Sando (which is a special item in the menu every Thursday) and the Shio ramen as our main dish. The Katso Sando was fantastic. The combination of the sauce, meat, and bread was mouth watering. The ramen on the other hand was something our taste buds weren't used to. The broth wasn't as flavorful and was a little bitter which was a little bit disappointing because my boyfriend and I love the broth of ramen. However, we don't think it was the restaurant's fault we didn't like the Shio ramen, I believe that if we ordered the Momotaro ramen, we would've loved it. Guess that's another reason to come back sometime!

Whoah! Having lived in both LA and the Bay Area, I did not expect to find good ramen in the small town of Paso Robles. I reluctantly ordered from here at the demand of my kids... and sometimes kids are right! This little shop is located inside a super cute marketplace that has other wonderful vendors like a bakery, coffee spot, sandwich shop, wine/beer stall, gifts vendor etc. You order at the counter and can either eat at the bar, or outside on the beautiful outdoor patio. The ramen was AMAZING! The broth was perfectly rich and flavorful, the noodles were thin and soft which is my personal preference, and there was a good amount of chasu meat in our Momotoro Romen. The gyoza were great too, and the edges were positioned into a flower and fried into a crisp. The bun of the day was also SO GOOD. The bun is hamburger style (open), and just chalk full or tender tasty pork and other toppings that went great together. Definitely come check out this marketplace if you're visiting and stop by this ramen shop!

They also fry the tortillas a little bit which is always a touch I appreciate. The birria ramen was amazing. Hot (not spicy) filling, and super flavorful. The birria was tender and juicy.
