Located on El Camino, next to the Smart and Final shopping center, is Chitose. You turn in right before the Smart and Final parking lot if coming from the North. Plenty of parking. Inside, you're welcomed and notice a good amount of seating. We chose a booth. The Coke seemed a little flat. Ordered 3 rolls. 2 were really good, Hungry Roll and Big Baller Roll. The Baked Salmon roll was disgusting. Warm, mushy, slimy and fishy. Just horrible. My wife got the chicken teriyaki and it had zero grill marks/color and very little glaze. She didn't care for it. *Overall, thought the service was good, nice size restaurant and parking lot. I enjoyed the Hungry and Big Baller Rolls. But the salmon roll was just disgusting* read more

We're passing through on our way to the Bay Area and decided to stop at Chitose Sushi. The food was good--you really can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. I had the Korean bibimbap, and it turned out to be even better than I expected. The portions were fairly generous, and it had a comforting, home-style flavor. The salmon and tempura were both solid choices as well. I'd probably pass on the ramen next time. It wasn't bad, but it's the type made with dried noodles, so it didn't stand out compared to everything else. The prices were reasonable and on par with such an eatery. Where Chitose Sushi really shines is the service. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and everyone greeted us with friendly smiles. At the end of our meal, they made an animal balloon for my kid, which was a thoughtful touch. My child really liked it. Overall, the food was consistently good, the prices were fair, and the service was a step above. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, especially if you're passing through and wanted a good meal. read more

Oh yea...YELP comes through again. I wanted to see the Odyssey movie and timing was tight. Sylvester's was close but too much, we didn't want to spoil our movie time snacks. M said sushi so I looked and there were very favorable reviews for this place. Okay it's on the way. We had about 15 minutes, we went in said sushi to go? The staff smiled and yes we can make anything we are fast. Looked at the picture menu (I love these in Asian restaurants) Dragon roll and a rainbow roll. It was about $30 bucks. we sat at a booth and we were served warmed edamame, cool...within minutes we were ready to roll. Our plan was to enjoy the sushi during the movie previews. So with a sweatshirt draped over my arm we were scanned and into the theatre, easy. The sushi was great with popcorn and peanut m&m's for dessert. Perfect. We decided we'd come back when it was sushi night again and sit down and enjoy a proper meal. Thank You! PS... the theatre was too dark to snap a pic of our sushi at the movies dinner, sorry. Such a great experience at chitoses. Out of all the sushi places In town(including Paso) this has been one of the best to bring young kids to. The floor plan feels open and spacious and you can easily have a highchair at the end of the table without feeling like you're blocking everyone's access. The staff are all amazing- super sweet and helpful! And of course the food was amazing! All of our rolls were fresh and tasted great!(we got the golden California roll, Vegas roll and rainbow roll); also the garlic edamame was perfectly sauced. read more

First time here, this place rocks from the owner Bia, the Chef James. Super awesome for the beginning till the end. BRIANNA greeted us as we walked in the door. Great personality, sat us down at a nice booth. Their menu was pretty extensive. I must say, so many options to choose from and there are pretty decent prices. We noticed the cowboy roll was $37, we might try that next time, but we'll see. The food was amazing. We ordered the lobster roll with sushi and it came with soup and salad. Our friend ordered another roll. Sky was our server, she was very pleasant with a great sense of humor. Explained to us the menu a little bit. Everything was great. I must say the two ladies make a great team. What I really enjoyed the most is how they're a team player. All the staff catered to us. Asked how we were doing, how was the food. James is really friendly. Place was clean and plenty of parking. My two favorite places Toshi's 101, and now this place. We will definitely come back. Thank you for making our first experience, memorable, and the food was definitely to die for. Great presentation. read more

Chitose Sushi - Amazing selection of sushi rolls plus salmon lover appetizer! So good! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Atascadero, California

Really good rolls and nigiri! I got take out one night after a nearby appointment. The location itself doesn't exactly scream "fresh sushi" but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I ordered a few things to give a fair representation in my review: California roll, spicy tuna, hamachi, salmon and salmon skin. The spicy tuna hand roll was the only slight miss as the neon red coloring was a little off-putting. Everything else, especially the salmon skin hand roll was pretty spot-on. The price was right and take out was fast. I live in Paso but if in Atascadero I'd come back to Chitose in a hot minute. read more

I have never been to a sushi place that can't accommodate a shrimp allergy - I asked if they wash their knives between rolls and she said no. That's a little bit discouraging . Be careful if you eat hear they will not wash the knives or cutting board in between customers read more

Yesterday I stopped by and picked up a big tuna roll. It was delicious so we came back tonight for dinner and got takeout again. This time I got an Alaskan roll and a chirashi bowl. I asked for no shrimp, but I didn't check the box before leaving. There was shrimp unfortunately. I was really craving rice today. It also came with miso soup. Overall, the flavors are great. I just wish they had not given me shrimp. The staff is nice though, and the interior is festive for the holidays. This place is clearly very popular and I can tell why. read more

Chitose Sushi - Don't order the Chitose roll! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Atascadero, California

I have high standards for 5-star sushi, and this place absolutely destroyed my expectations. I wish I found this sooner! The food was excellent. All rolls tasted great, but we have to highlight the Salmon lovers with its incredible balance of sweet and umami with complex textures such as creamy and crunchy with the shallot slices. It's an absolute flavor bomb. The next must-try is the OMG roll with exciting crunchy battered crawdad pieces on top! You truly feel like you're eating two dishes with this one. We also got the Katsudon and the Unadon bowls and loved the flavors and the texture of the rice. The service here is so attentive with our server being one of the owners herself, who we found out to be celebrating her birthday after seeing folks drop off a flower for. She was super kind and humble (Happy birthday! And thank you for serving us on such a special day!) We felt very taken care of and felt very welcomed. The ambiance was great! The restaurant is very culturally relevant and immersive with their decorations and the theming ties together well, down to their menu. The atmosphere is mellow but happy with great music that reminded me of nostalgic music my dad listened to. All in all, this place has it all with quality of food, service, and attention to detail! We would be back again! read more

This place had a lot of seating and plenty of options on the menu! I would say it's on the pricier side but what you'd normally pay in SLO. Miso soup was yummy, but I wish the beef in the beef bowl had more flavor and the rice was too crispy from the stone pot when it was served to me. My friends got the lunch combination with sushi and beef teriyaki and I wish I would've gotten that - their beef teriyaki is really good! Our server was also SO kind and attentive. read more

Great staff and clear menu. Got a great recommendation on a no rice roll. Terrific.

Wow, first time here but I will be returning often. Japanese and Korean food are never cheap, but this restaurant has great deals and service, and the food was delicious. I ordered many items for dine in and take out, and everything was either very good or excellent. Tempura: 5/5 stars. It was soo crispy yet not oily. Batter was light and fluffy. Portion size was good as well. Grilled Pork (looks like Galbi): 5/5 stars. This was so flavorful and tender. I liked it so much I had to get it to go for my family. Salmon special roll: 5/5 stars. This was light and fresh and everything just melted in my mouth. The roe on top made it even better. The sexy roll: 4.5/5 stars. Would be 5/5 stars had it been a little colder in temperature, but the cuts of fish were thick and fresh. This is a great low carb option. Spicy chicken: 4/5 stars. For me it was a little salty and I would have preferred it a little crispier, but I would order this again before it was tasty. And crispy. I ended spending more than the hotel stay, but it was so worth it. Thank you, Chitose for a wonderful dining experience. read more
