Okay I finally get the hype! My mom and I came to Momo Mee's for a recent Friday lunch date. We honestly had no idea what to expect, having never been here before, and turned out having a delightful experience. This Pan-Asian restaurant is located in a strip mall of sorts in the Walker's Point area. It would be easy to miss if you weren't looking for it. The store itself is fairly small, yet fits plenty of people. There is a bar area and tall-top seating upon entering, and just beyond that are small tables lining the windows. The place certainly felt bright and clean. We didn't have a reservation (which apparently is something recommended here, even for lunch time), but were lucky to still be seated right away. The place was full! Our server was so sweet, and really helpful when it came to making a decision on menu items. She steered us towards their famous Xiao Long Bao, aka pork dumplings. Those were super yummy! They were delivered in a steaming hot pot, the pork had tons of flavor, and each dumpling was filled with a hot and savory broth. We also were craving noodles so our server recommended the Korean Spicy Noodles. Loved them! They had the perfect amount of spice to them, the portion was massive, and the flavor was on point. There were also plentiful veggies like onions, carrots, broccoli, scallions, and bell peppers. The third thing we enjoyed were the fresh spring rolls! Well really only I enjoyed them, as my mom wasn't a fan of the rice paper, but her loss. I love spring rolls with the vermicelli noodles and fresh veg. So good. Been wanting to try this place for quite some time and today was the day. Went during happy hour and will definitely be back. The shrimp spring roll with fresh mint and sweet sauce was a great meal starter. Next up was Korean beef Taiwanese Gua Bao with kimchi which was a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Now to the dish that brought me in and transported me back to my visit to China several years ago when I first tried soup dumplings. Second time here in one week! What a lovely place to get a bunch of appetizers and relax. The restaurant isn't super large so I recommend making a reservation! The dumplings are all AMAZING / DELICIOUS!! Favorite are the soup dumplings and spicy peppercorn wontons. Wow! So good. Only reason it's 4 and not 5 stars is both times we went we had to ask our servers (different person both visits) to refill our drinks and water. It was never noticed by the staff themselves that we needed refills. However, the servers were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menus items. The Japchae was disappointing because it's basically some oily soy sauce noodle stir-fry... Not Japchae at all. We even doubted if the chef had real Japchae before. The chicken that we chose as protein came in a pretty generous amount but we really hope the restaurant could consider cutting them into smaller strips or slices next time. Best dumplings in the Milwaukee area. This is one of our family's favorite restaurants. Cute, easy, efficient, the staff are always friendly and helpful if you are looking to try something new. The owners are always around and usually stop by tables to check in. This is how you run a restaurant. The soup dumplings are great, but my favorite dumpling has always been a crispy pan fried potsticker and these are incredible. Our standard order is usually soup dumplings, pot stickers pan fried, spicy wontons, and orange beef, eggplant in garlic sauce, and then either a clay pot or crispy noodles. This is one of our favorite places. We usually get to go just easier for us being a larger family, but we have done dine in before too. The restaurant is small and HIGHLY recommend making reservations. The tables are tighter together, they do have a bar area with some tables but don't except this to be a larger restaurant dining experience. They do have outdoor seating which is nice as well. Love the way the food is homemade and hand done. Sometimes, we do find things to be a little over cooked, so things like the spicy wontons get soggy and fall apart very easily. The momo and dumplings are good, but they are more doughy than other places we have had, we like Momo Mee version, just sometimes too doughy and overcooked. We have tried many different dishes and have loves everything. The last two times I have got the fresh spring rolls, they wrapping is broken and everything is falling out, also, the mint leaves inside which give it amazing flavor, were all brown. Just turned me away. The crispy spring rolls were much better in my opinion. The fried rice options are so good, the steak is always so tender and it one of our favs. The crispy orange beef says it's spicy but we get no heat, we'd love more heat, but is still one of our menu favs as well, the beef is just top quality and so tender. The servers have been good, when it gets busy though, it can get a bit hectic and more chaotic. There are many drink options as well, highly recommend trying something new. We do love this place, but lately it's been more hit or miss. Maybe it's because they can get so busy? We also understand how hard it is to find good employees. I only come for the soup dumplings, best around! This is also a very beautiful and modern dining space that's perfect for a date night or just a special treat. Reservations are recommended but I have gotten in on an off-hour with no issues. I've been here a few times with my husband and we've tried several menu items. Spring rolls, Korean Mandu, spicy noodles... it's all amazing and full of flavor. So, while I show up for the soup dumplings, I stay for the absolute carnival of flavor that their menu provides. I have been craving Dim Sum for quite a while and was happy when my friend agreed to have lunch at Momo Mee with me. Although the Lunch menu is only available on Weekdays, we settled on Cheese Momo and Chicken Wings. Both appetizers were perfectly seasoned and satisfying. My friend chose the Cantonese Fried Noodles for her entree and I decided on the Korean Spicy Noodles which the waitress warned could be a little too spicy for some people and offered a milder alternative. I decided to try them as spicy as originally intended. My friend enjoyed the Pan Fried Noodles and I was quite happy with my choice. I did add the Spicy Garlicky Sweet Sauce that came with the Chicken Wings which suited my taste buds well. My friend chose Lemonade and I selected a refreshing glass of Thai Tea. We enjoyed our selections and our time - from the welcoming staff at the front desk to our thoughtful and kind server-everything was as it should be. We were thankful we arrived when we did around 1:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon there was a crowd but we were quickly seated. However, as we were leaving, there was a line out the door. I will have to return soon for the Dim Sum options of Dumplings - Xiao Long Bao, Potstickers, Korean Mandu, Spicy Wontons and Steamed Shao Mai. They have a wonderful selection of Ramen Noodle Bowls as well. It was my first time but it certainly will not be my last. I still need to satisfy my Dim Sum Cravings. There is a special Lunar Menu until March 8th and I would like to try the Duck Entree and I thought I saw Moo Goo Gai Pan on the list of options. I'm looking forward to it. Yum!! read more

I was interested to try this place after seeing some decent reviews and the photos of the food/atmosphere looked nice. I was visiting Milwaukee and had a great visit up until here. Right when I walked, the hostess was chatting with the other servers and did not notice me at first; I was then offered a seat at the bar. Once seated, a younger male server appeared with what looked like to be food on his face from the meal he was eating behind the bar and was unprofessional in his attitude/demeanor, not rude by any means but unprofessional. Unimpressed, I made my order quickly and partook in the Sichuan Spicy Dumplings. The food was good and I was constantly checked on by other staff members. What did annoy me was my server, the hostess, and another server were seated next to me at the bar chatting about what they wanted to eat, when they were going to leave, and what their weekend plans were. These conversations should have been held at a later date or at least not infant of the customer. All the while I noticed there was dirt on the floor as if someone started to sweep but then dropped off. Plenty of employees standing around, eating, and talking the restaurant could have been better kept with all the staff hanging around. After using the restroom, I proceeded to leave only to find my serve now sitting in my spot at the bar eating and saying "have a good day man" with food in his mouth and all over his face. Definitely can use some work in the service side of things, the food is the only thing holding up this review. My family and I made the mistake of underestimating this and ended up waiting around 1.5 hours to get seated. Overall the food was alright! The spring rolls were a solid appetizer and were pretty crispy. I was a little underwhelmed by the chicken dumplings as they were very one-note and didn't have too much flavor going on in the inside (maybe the veggie dumplings are better not sure). My favorite dish of the night was the Korean spicy noodles! Beware they are pretty spicy but nothing intolerable - I would definitely get these again. It was my first time here yesterday, it was very packed. I only had to wait about 15-20 minutes to get called in and seated. The service was proper, the food was really good. Tried momo mee for lunch for the first time on a Sunday. I highly suggest even for lunch to make a reservation because this place was busy! We were able to sit at a table that were relatively close together so essentially no privacy for conversation. Ordered the Xiao Long Bao dumplings (along with every other tables in the vicinity of us) which were really good. Seems to be the staple here. We also tried the Korean beef Taiwanese Gua Bao and the Singapore spicy noodles with chicken. Bother we're good. I would have liked more of a flavor or bean sprouts or something else in the noodles. It just felt like there were some flavors missing there. I would def go back for the dumplings and to try another main dish. read more

I came in today on a Monday (Christmas observed) for lunch, not long after they opened and it was packed. We were there, no joke, for 2 hours. So plan accordingly. When it's busy, the food naturally comes out slower. And the waitress kindly let us know it might take a minute. We left the restaurant around 3pm, and it seemed to have slowed down. A lot of people didn't want to wait, so it seemed. When we left, the tables were all still filled. The service was absolutely phenomenal!! For as busy as it was, our waitress was sure to come to check in. Our waters were refilled without prompt. Our waitress kindly explained the menu and gave us ideas. The food: if you're a vegetarian, don't fret, the waitress said that 95% of their menu can come vegetarian. I'm not sure about vegan. But the friend I went with is a vegetarian and she had no problems finding delicious options. I ordered the famous soup dumplings, spring rolls, Korean and pork belly buns. All the food was absolutely delicious. I wasn't obsessed with the soup dumplings, as people seemed to really love this, but they were very good! The buns were soooo good!! Food flavors were okay. Somewhat Americanized foods. Overly salted and sweetened. Portions were small. Prices were expensive. Go to an authentic dim sum in Chinatown and prices are at least half with bigger portions and better flavors. We gave it a try. Service was great however. No complaints there. Friendly, nice, efficient. Venue clean and spacious for different sizes. There are booths. There looked to be a bar too at the front. We will unlikely be back again in Fourier. I honestly was not expecting much from this restaurant seeing how the city is not really diverse. I'm glad to announce that I was terribly wrong! We came at prime dinner time without a reservation on a Saturday. We were lucky enough to get seated because it was just 2 of us, but it was the last table, so please try to plan ahead if you can and reserve! We ordered szechuan spicy wontons and the xiao long baos (xlb) to start. Szechuan spicy wontons had a slight kick and numb to it, meat was seasoned well, but a little too oily. The xiao long baos were really good. What I look for in a good XLBs is the skin first and foremost and seasoning second. This place had it both! The skin was thick enough to house our delicious soup and meat filling but also thin enough that you don't feel like you're chewing forever to get to the actual meat and soup! I really enjoyed this a lot, and to be honest, this place had better XLBs than the famous Joe's Shanghai in NYC (which I personally think is way overhyped)! In addition to dumplings, we also tried the seafood and tofu clay pot and crispy orange beef. Both were incredible and so so good. Crispy beef slices with a tangy sauce, who could ask for more? A nice surprise to find a great place for dumplings in Milwaukee. The Xiao long bao are very juicy, so eat with care, and so yummy! The wontons were also excellent. The shao (siu) mai were the sleeper hit of our lunch: nice balance of shrimp and pork and a great texture. I would have liked more kimchi in the kimchi beef mandu, but it was still good. My nephew was in town for a couple of days and wanted to meet for dinner. Rather than taking him to a chain restaurant, we wanted to find something unique to Milwaukee. Mono Mee is just that restaurant. Apparently it was a coffee shop prior. Its total foot print is rather small so make sure you have reservations. It's a very popular restaurant and by the time we finished dinner, there were several people waiting in the small lobby for a table. The food was outstanding! My husband, nephew, and I ordered different dishes. In addition, we ordered the pan fried chicken potstickers. The food came out hot, spicy, and was difficult to not eat the entire plate of food. The service was prompt and timeline from sitting until we left was reasonable. We definitely plan to return with friends. read more

I've been craving some Chinese food in Milwaukee and there's only a small handful of Chinese restaurants in this state. I was especially curious about Momo Mee because my friends who had gone stated that they have soup dumplings. Soup dumplings (xiao long bao) are these handmade dumplings that are made with soup so when you bite into it, there is some broth in the dumplings. They are savory and difficult to make. One of my favorite places is Din Tai Fung; they are known for soup dumplings (world class soup dumplings). I will say that the Momo Mee ones were delicious but different than the ones at Din Tai Fung. Like other reviewers, the wrapper is thicker, the dumplings larger but for Milwaukee, I'm so grateful to have found these. I was told that the soup dumplings are house made which I appreciate and the vinegar it comes with is tasty. I really want to just commend the service at Momo Mee. The staff are so friendly, they get you everything you need and the food was brought out fast and pipping hot. I did come in the afternoon (when it was less busy) but everyone was very friendly. The owner, Chef Tony, was also there and I love seeing that interaction. He was also really welcoming and I loved the ambiance at this place. They have a limited edition Chinese menu out for Lunar New Years (I think only for the next week or so). Will definitely be returning to try more items! read more

As longtime fans of the Trader Joe's soup dumplings it was high time we wander in and try the real deal. Everything was fresh and clean and our server Michael was very helpful as he instructed us on the way to properly eat soup dumplings. The pan fried Gyoza had a nice crisp to it and great flavor. The spring rolls we're fresh but I'd have liked a little more flavor to them in the herbs or more kick to the sauce. Their Momo (Dumplings) are very flavorful and a great entree by themselves or good to share as an appetizer. I loved the Momo Mee Famous Xiao Long Bao which is available in a limited quantity each day. You need to be careful as the hot broth can burst from the dumpling and burn your mouth if you don't poke a hole in it and let it cool a bit. For my entree I had the Twaiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl which had lots of great flavors combined into one dish. The soft egg adds some extra moisture and the braised pork pieces were very tender. I usually have low expectations if a place is described as pan Asian or Asian fusion as in my past dining experiences this leads to sort of bland, Americanized food when I wanted something specific. But I was in the neighborhood and the Yelp reviews were good so we stopped for lunch. Thank goodness we were there a little before noon because this place was packed when we left and I can understand why! The food: 4.5/5 Gua Bao - spicy Korean beef in a tasty bun with kimchi. Delicious, good spice, comes with 2 buns. Xiao Long Bao - 8 soup dumplings. Delicious and reminded me of my favorite place in chicago china town my ONLY complaint is that they were about twice the size of my usual and so I couldn't eat in one bite which meant some broth spillage. This was remedied by the small bowl they provided with the dumplings. Fried rice - was really craving and hit the spot. Not sure what made it so outstanding, I suspect the oil used was infused with something (basil, peppers or garlic are my top guesses) and this was clearly made fresh. I had been here two years ago for the XLBs which is what this place is known for. Again, they hit the spot. However, I really think that's the only thing they have to offer. I ordered char sui bbq pork and the Beijing noodles (both items are limited to celebrate the Chinese New Year so you won't see them on the menu). The char sui pork came out as if it had been sitting out for a bit. I think the combination of all dishes to share with my friend made it a little more interesting compare to if I had this dish alone. I could taste the star anise come through. Subtle on the flavor. The Beijing noodles claimed to be spicy... but not even a lingering tingle on the lips. Way more flavorful than the pork but I wanted a spicy kick to it. I'd say the reviews cater to a more Americanized Asian fusion. read more

I'm not getting the hype here. Food was ok. I've had so much better ramen elsewhere. I had the shiitake ramen. Said it's a veggie broth but I wouldn't figure out the flavor. Cabbage maybe? Hardly any mushrooms in it. Have to give them this, there was so much, I did rise at least half home. Hubby had the crispy orange beef. He said it was ok. We didn't have the veggie potstickers, again just ok. I would find a good Japanese/Chinese/thia place before coming back here again. Find a place where the family is cooking.
