The cheesesteak is legit- perfect bread and that unctuous melty meat and cheese mix perfectly seasoned. I got the avocado version (there are a bunch of versions), which adds fresh avocado, lettuce and tomato to the sandwich (a nice bit of freshness to go with the rich meat and cheese). Cones with fries or potato salad. They have chicken wings and burgers, too. I also got some homemade flan for dessert - a nice point where the family that owns it adds their own special touches.

We were seated right away. There was one waitress/hostess for the whole floor. The place was set up nicely and painted with art on the wall and little decorations. The menu is fairly small. They have some cold salads, some all veggies and one with steak. The other entrees were shawarma, four chickens and one with ground beef, and one with sausage. The rest were veggies. They also have some apps. I got the shepherds mistake. It was cold mostly but some parts were a little warm. It would have been better hot. It was a white sweet potato base with ground beef and gravy. I wish it had had more flavor to it. Husband got the peach chicken with potatoes that were cooked with blsamic and thyme. We ordered a dish called apricot chicken and there was no apricot in the dish. There wasn't even anything fruity or flavorful pretending to be apricot. I was under the impression based on the name that there would be an apricot flavor. We were served bland, dry, cubed chicken that was pre-cut and completely over cooked. Despite it being over cooked, it came out lukewarm. There was no salt of any kind on any of the food. The only seasoning on the chicken was a little bit of pepper and a ton of rosemary. I looked for pieces of apricot, and there were none. There was no sauce either. The side was some steamed broccoli, and there was no salt or pepper anywhere in the restaurant. There are also no choices to drink other than sparkling water or water. The other dish we got was steak bites with mushroom gravy. I thought this dish was decent enough, but it didn't make up for the other dish, especially at $21-26 bucks per dish. Again also underseasoned with no option to season it on the table. The potatoes on both plates were extremely dry and while I did not mind it, I do not think most people would find them appetizing, especially with no salt or condiments. The cup that we got for water was dirty and have something black on the rim. The forks seemed dirty and covered in a film too, but we didn't have time to ask for an exchange because the owner was too busy working by herself. When we came in, we were saying that we were ready to order and she walked away and didn't come back for at least 15 minutes. As we were sitting there waiting, we were the only people there besides one lady who had ordered right when we came in. A few people came in and ordered to go orders while we were waiting for at least an hour. Multiple to go orders came over the phone while we were waiting. Instead of prioritizing the people in front of her who already ordered, she made at least six or seven different meals, and had them bagged waiting to go, while we waited for just two meals. My husband had to work in Anchorage and we figured that we would have an hour to go home and spend time together. By the time that we were done with our food, we didn't even finish it by the way it was so dry, we had to go home and he had to leave as soon as we got home because we waited that long. I do not like to leave bad reviews for small businesses, but the food was truly very poorly seasoned and so dry even I didn't like it (and I usually love dry chicken). It is a shame that gluten-free Alaska only has one safe place to eat, and the food and service are not good. It was so bad that I almost feel bad for the owner. She needs help cooking. I know that she was probably very stressed working by herself, but there is no reason to make all these new orders before serving the people sitting in your restaurant. I really hope that this owner will take this review with a grain of salt and improve their menu and service.

The service is and has always been very friendly, super fast, and they keep the restaurant so clean that I always avoid leaving spills or crumbs just as a small thank you. This is like Hank Williams, George Straight, Garth Brooks style country. Maybe I'm weird and they are spot on. Who knows? The food was out quite fast, which was great. I've never had a place put a chip in the beans so the overlapping taco shells don't get soggy. That was a huge win! It's the small things. The salsa bar was great. I really enjoyed the kick of the hot and green ones. The mild tasted a little weird. The tacos were tasty, the rice and beans slightly above average and solidly portioned. The staff at the register attentive and friendly. The dining room could handle a variety of four person groups and could easily be situated to accommodate larger parties of probably 8-12.

The Carnitas were moist but missing that same oomph that the Asada offered. I also tried the Guisado Plate: pork short ribs bone in stewed in a Verde sauce. Super good, flavor on flavor and tender! The Mexican hotdog was basically a Sonoran Dog minus the mayo (thank god) it was good, not Tucson good, but good. The street corn in a cup was my least favorite. The service is fast and friendly. Table service and carryout/delivery is available with limited parking. Place your order at the front counter or pick up the menu. While waiting for your order get your self service drinks and visit the condiment bar. Select your choice of excellent homemade salsas and other add-ons for your meal. The order will be delivered to your table promptly. I have had several selections from the menu all all have been well prepared, seasoned and authentic tasting. Having visited MX many times and eaten in hundreds of Mexican Restaurants in this country and foreign countries I believe that the food is as close to authentic Mexican food you get anywhere. It is well worth finding and good for families, locals and visitors.
