Molina's did a great job removing a Bradford pear from my front yard and a sycamore from a very tight spot in my backyard. They brought in the big equipment and were done in just a couple of hours. Communication with Luis was great. I also appreciated that they used the stump grinder to grind down a huge root growing on the ground that I constantly tripped on. The price was fair, also. Every part of our interaction with Molina's far exceeded expectations. From initial quote, to scheduling, to the actual work performed, I couldn't have been more pleased. Logan and Michelle have a synchronized system - everything was sent when it was supposed to, it was thorough, and very well priced. Oscar and Samwell lead a great team. They showed up on time, with a well-coordinated effort from everyone (crane operation, breaking down the trunk, grinding stump, etc.. These guys went truly, truly, above and beyond with the care, attention to detail, safety, timeliness...If we had folks like these in every industry, the world would be a better place. Logan is a rock star. He is so incredibly knowledgeable about trees and their health - but also about the equipment used by the team. His enthusiasm for his work is so clear - he explained to me about the different cranes, grinders, etc - how they work, how they actually increase safety, save time, save money for the client (me! yay!), etcetera. He also helped chart and execute a flawless plan under tricky circumstances where branches were tangled in powerlines when we were unable to get a line drop. He kept in close communication with me about our options and scoped the property on multiple occasions to ensure the best possible plan. On the day of, everything went off without a hitch. I'm still in shock!!! Grant came by to assess the job and explained his guys uses a crane to lift trees and how everything would be professionally done. He sold me on his professionalism and knowledge of trees....not just some guy that will saw your trees and be done. His guys came by bright and early with about four or five different trucks....had me worried if the price he quoted was real because of all the machinery they used. The guys worked in an orderly fashion cutting trees and trimming the roots.....they were even careful to my concerns about not hitting a gas line, not going too deep. After the job, my yard was a mess but they cleaned it up to look better than it did before they started. The only thing I would recommend for homeowners is to have a blanket or something to cover your windows from the mulch that flies off from the stump trimmer....however, no damage to my home nor yard, nor driveway. read more

We hired Molina's to remove 5 large trees from our property. We got four estimates and they were very affordable. On the day of the project, they showed up earlier than promised, took down all of the trees with no damage at all to our lawn or property, cleaned up all of the debris thoroughly, finished the work in the amount of time promised, and the crew was completely friendly, courteous, and professional the whole time. Our job estimator, Logan, came promptly and submitted a detailed bid quickly. Molina's removed 12 trees and ground stumps as requested. Most trees were very large, tall Tulip Poplars which have given us a mess to clean up all during the summer and well into the fall as they drop leaves constantly. We're excited to not be raking poplar leaves any more! The crew came on time and worked diligently to complete the work. They left our yard cleaner than before. I hired Molina's Tree Service to remove a big old hardwood tree that fell precariously over multiple terraces as well as trim a different tree. Overall excellent price, insured, job well done, quick scheduling, efficient work, all the proper equipment, and friendly staff. The estimate with Ethan and scheduling with Dana were prompt and easy. The contract and copy of their insurance arrived a little delayed, but before the day of scheduled work- I appreciated having those documents. A crane, bobcat, chainsaws, and wood chipper were used to remove and dispose of the big tree piece by piece. Tree climbing equipment and pole-saws were used for different tree trimming. The crane operator and workers securing the fallen tree sections handled the work professionally and efficiently. They took precautions to minimize the impact of their work from laying sheets to go under the Crane to gently setting down the heavy limbs before being chipped. There were a few scuffs on the driveway and some small areas of misplaced soil, but nothing to complain about for such heavy work. Their clean up was adequate and quick & the workers were friendly and enjoying the work. Communication could improve- I would suggest for the company to have the lead worker greet the homeowner and go over the exact plan of action upon arrival at the job site. The crane driver and I did have a conversation at the start, but it was mostly about the placement of the crane and I hadn't a clue who the crew leader was (was it him??). I had to piecemeal go out of my way to ensure they were doing what had been talked about at the estimate with Ethan. The workers were receptive and the interactions were positive :) Also concerning communication, I wasn't informed what part of the day they planned to come ahead of time but did receive a text 1 hr before they arrived. Molina's removed three trees for us back in October and they did a great job then. So I contacted them in early June to do some tree trimming for me. I met with Ethan on the evening of Monday, June 8th, walked my property and explained what I'd like to have trimmed. I couldn't afford to do everything so I chose to have the two most important trees trimmed, the one in the center of my front yard and the branches of a neighbors tree that hang over my patio. They are both sweet gum trees and drop tons of those spiky balls. I was very clear about the fact that I wanted all of the limbs hanging over my patio removed because of those spiky balls. They didn't even need to be entirely removed from hanging over my property. Just the parts that hang over the patio. So Molina's scheduled to have my trees trimmed on Monday June 22nd. They told me it would likely be around 3 pm that day. By 4:30, I'd heard nothing so I e-mailed them. Around 5 pm, they e-mailed me back to say they weren't going to make it because another job took longer than expected. Meanwhile, I already made arrangements for them to come by moving my cars out of the driveway, putting down tarps and such. Nobody bothered to e-mail me or call me prior to this, even though they probably knew they weren't going to get to me long before 5 pm. So they rescheduled me to the next day, Tuesday June 23rd. Around 3 pm on the 23rd, Ethan calls to apologize for not coming out again. They were still working on the same job from the day before and couldn't get to me. I was annoyed but just went with it, given a promise they'd show up on Thursday the 25th, (today). They did show up today. I guess the third time is the charm. I recently planted new hydrangeas and helleborus around the base of the tree in my front yard. They're all small plants so they're easy to avoid. After the crew started, I heard a thud and looked outside to find they dropped every large branch they cut directly onto my new plants. Am I crazy to be upset about that? So I went out to get a better look and my new plants were buried under super heavy branches and tree debris. I confronted the foreman and he gave me an attitude and said there was no way to not hit my plants. So I called and ended up speaking with Ethan. Ethan assured me that they'd replace any damaged plants and that he was on his way to my house to check things out. When he arrived, he was very defensive, pointed toward my plants and said none of them are broken. By this time, the branches laying on them had been removed and he was correct, with the exception of a few lost leaves, none of them are broken. But, plants are delicate. Damage to them may not show for days or weeks. But Ethan was irritated with me and told me I should have come out to look at the plants after they removed the branches before getting upset. When I went out earlier, I saw tree branches the size of tree trunks sitting directly on top of my plants, crushing them. Whether they broke or not is not the point. That's not the way to treat a customers landscaping. Because they could have been broken. And they still might be damaged and not show that for some time. Then he walks me back to the second tree they were supposed to trim and says he can't take off all of the branches that hang over my patio, that it would take too much time. That I had planted new arborvitae's in front that weren't there when he visited a few weeks back. I planted those arborvitae's six months ago. They absolutely were there when he met with me to give me a quote. He just kept saying that he was sorry in the irritated, condescending way that isn't the way someone sounds whey they are actually sorry. I had budgeted a total of $800 for the trimming of both trees. I have no more money to spend on trees right now. He then tells me, for $200 extra, he can get a crane and cut off all of the branches that hang over my patio. I can't just create $200.00 So I said I can't and just do the tree in the front yard. I was charged $500 for them to trim that tree and I just went out and realized they didn't even take off all of the branches I asked them to. I'll share the blame for that because I should have checked before they left but I was so frazzled I didn't think to do it. This is a company I have recommended to friends and neighbors in the past. I know some of my neighbors used them specifically because of my recommendations. So I've been completely caught off guard by the service I received this time. Three scheduled service dates, large limbs on my new plants, an incomplete tree cut, backtracking on a quote and $500 to trim three branches off a tree Ethan told me wasn't complicated make me feel like I'm the least valuable customer ever. Molina's Tree Service was great! They arrive 30 mins early which was welcome because they were taking tree down on our neighbors yard as well as ours. They were very efficient and did a very thorough clean up once the trees were down. They chipped the wood onsite and spread in areas that we asked to have it spread. The crew was friendly and amazing at what they do as they had to cut large pines down around our fence and new pool. They also got out to our Job within a week of the estimate, others were a 6-8 weeks out. Dana who did the scheduling was very communicative and helpful in coordinating our job with our neighbors. I would leave a zero but that's not an option. Our next door neighbors choose them because they were cheaper but you get what you pay for. I received a call from another neighbor saying you might want to come home and move your vehicles because they are very close to hitting them. When I arrived they had a tree in between our homes with a limb about a foot away from my moms car, so I decided to move our vehicles . Once I did that they felt I was okay to do work on our driveway. They dragged trees and cut them on our driveway which they didn't have permission to be on. They left scratches on our driveway. They also had their chipper in front of our house so when he drove by with a loaded bobcat he was constantly hitting our mailbox with limbs which they denied doing. Their equipment leaks oil and grease everywhere and their response was I hate to break it to you but heavy equipment does that. From being in construction for twenty five years and having friends that operate cranes and heavy equipment I know that's not correct. Companies that leave stains on people's property is unprofessional and in some cases result in fines. They basically ruined our neighbors pretty new driveway. So unless you want someone who does a third rate job I would stay clear of this company. I have pictures but since there taken with a phone they aren't quite as bad looking as in person. read more

I requested a quote from Molina Tree Service in April to remove a tree and a bush from my yard. At the time, I told Ethan, the person who gave me the estimate, that I wasn't sure when I was going to have the tree taken out, but that I would like it done before the fall. He said that it would be $400 to remove both the tree and the bush and did not give me any time restrictions for when I needed to have this done. I contacted them again in July to have the tree removed and they said that I would need to get an estimate again. When I sent the photos for them to re-evaluate it, they said it would be $800, which is much higher than any other estimate I received from the other companies I contacted. The person who gave me the original estimate then talked to the head of the company who raised the price to $1000. I'm not sure why they decided to more than double the price of the original estimate and why they were unable to properly document and keep track of the estimates they gave out originally (the guy 'forgot his estimate book' that day, apparently and then implied that I was making the estimate he gave me up). This is incredibly unprofessional and I would be very careful if you decide to go with them for your tree services and make sure you get documentation for all of the estimates you receive. read more

Update- The weekend after posting this review, 2 different men from Molina's came to look at my fence. One showed up Saturday driving a log truck and said he came to fix my fence. After looking at it, he admitted he had no tools or material with him and couldn't fix the chain link fence. He called his boss and then asked me to take the review down promising that my fence would be repaired this week. I said I would take it down when my fence was fixed. On Sunday another man appeared to fix my fence but still didn't have the material to fix it. He also promised to fix it this week and asked me to take the review down. I, again, agreed to take it down when my fence was fixed but not before. Well it's been another week and nothing has been done to repair the fence. So far, their "promises" are not worth anything and appear to just be a stalling tactic. read more

Let me start on a positive note. The price for the amount of work was excellent. The people knew what they are doing and worked quickly. Now the many however. 1) they cut trees we did not specify. 2) they blocked the street, parked in my yard in many places. 3) the used my yard as a staging ground to do work on my neighbors before finishing my yard. 4) they backed into my stone bench and knocked it over chipping both uprights and the seat. 5) they graded my garden plot without permission and then used it as a road. 6) the uprooted my low voltage lighting all over the yard with their bobcat. 7) it took 3 passes on cleanup for them to reach an acceptable level (not counting the log that is still on my back property line). 8) they broke my concrete sidewalk with their heavy equipment and denied it. 9) left lots of bobcat scrapes on my driveway that were unnecessary. They showed careless disregard for my property and indifference to the damages they caused. Bi will be seeing them in small claims court for damages. If you are considering this company, beware that they require close supervision. You should have at least two people on site watching and taking pictures. Also, it would be prudent to mark all trees/bushes to be removed and have them mark out where they plan to operate their equipment before they start. Most of the workers speak limited English, or they were just ignoring me. I contracted with a handshake but in retrospect I should have had a written contract. read more

I live in North Raleigh, and have a wooded lot. This is the first time I hired this company. I read their reviews on other sites, like Next Door, and Home Advisor, they had a lot of very good ones. Oscar came to give me a quote, he was easy to talk to, and reasonable. He made a suggestion, and it worked out very well. I had 1 very large maple tree cut down. And another large beech tree trimmed back. They fitted me in the same day that I got the quote. I watched them work, and they were very efficient and did a very professional job. They had really good equipment to do the job, and it didn't take them long to finish up. They cleaned up all of the debris, nice neat job. Luis cut down trees in my yard in June and broke concrete and broke a gate to a fence. He had told me he would take the gate down and roll the fence back before his men started the work, but he didn't. The heavy duty equipment broke the attachment from the gate to the fence and loosened the fence pole. The equipment also broke concrete pretty bad. He said that he would come back and repair the damages, but he never did. I called him so many times and he gave me the run around. He talks a good game, but doesn't follow up. Too much business and no follow up. I trusted him to do the work, because he had done work for me before. Afterwards, I read reviews on his Facebook that he broke concrete and would not repair damages for other people, but he erased those comments. I don't trust him! read more

He informed me that he would give me a call back once he got in touch with the crew regarding their estimated time of arrival. Never received a call back. I have not used their services but my neighbor did. This is how MY experience with them went: 1) They parked in my driveway without permission, I had to ask them to move. 2) 5 minutes later they parked in front of my driveway, had to ask them to move again. 3) Then they parked in from of my mailbox. I like having my mail delivered so I had to ask the to move again. 4) I had to leave the house and they had the entire road blocked. I sat there waiting for them to move, honked on the horn while they ignored me and laughed at the old gringo lady. Had to get out of my car and threaten to call the police for them to move in order for them to do the right thing and MOVE! 5) Road was blocked again when I came home. Parking in someone elses driveway is against the law, blocking a road is against the law and parking in front of a mailbox is against the law. I have no desire to do business with a business that is so disrespectful of others and of the law and thinks it's OK to laugh at people who are just trying to leave their home. If you use them for tree removal, give your neighbors a head up or you'll have angry neighbors. read more

I get the sick feeling that we are the neighbors that used this terrible service. If not, there must be a ton of people these guys have pissed off. My apologies if it was us...these guys came highly recommended and have done nothing but create a disaster at our home. We paid these guys and they knocked out our front yard and did a couple of trees in the backyard. The trees in the back yard were pushed over and NEVER removed. These guys were contacted on numerous occasions to come back and complete the job. We leave messages, no response. We offered further payment and the guys came out and pushed over even more trees and left. Our yard is in shambles and we are completely embarrassed that we can't get these workers to even come back out and complete our work. Total disaster. The few times we've actually spoken with someone, we get an excuse that something is wrong with their back hoe. That may be true, or it may be true that the problem with the backhoe is it has an asshat behind the wheel. We promise our neighbors that this problem will be remedied soon. We were only trying to add yard space for our three small children. Please, no hard feelings. We had no idea we would receive such poor service. We have made a terrible impression and we apologize. read more
