I have not used Bartlett for tree removal, but I did hire them for pest control services, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend them. I discussed the issues on my 1.2-acre property with Bryan, our service manager, and chose Bartlett because of their perceived expertise. I expected that, when they came to my property, they would identify and address not only the problems I had already noticed but also any other issues that might not have been immediately apparent. Unfortunately, this was far from the case. The technician needed me to point out the trees I had already specified to Bryan, and even then, they failed to identify or treat other clear issues on my property. If I hadn't been present on the day of the treatment, none of the problems would have been addressed, as Bryan had not effectively communicated even the most obvious concerns to the technician. Following this disappointing experience, I hoped they would return to treat the remaining issues, such as my sick magnolia trees. However, instead of offering to "make things right," they ignored my concerns, and the problems were never resolved. Despite my repeated follow-ups with Bryan over the following months, my requests to address these issues were consistently brushed off. Now, I have received the full invoice for the work, even though I tried to get them to reduce the charges due to the poor service. Their response, as before, was silence--they continued to send the full invoice without addressing my complaints. I cannot recommend Bartlett for pest control services. The arborist and crew were professional and quick. The arborist is nice to work with. The tree removal crew already knew which exact tree to remove. I had very tall trees. They were removed safely and quick. Now waiting for the invoice. If invoice is same as a quote - this will be the service i recommend for tree removal. read more

I am writing because of the carelessness of Bartlett Tree Experts of Raleigh that endangered the lives of my cat and my neighbors' two cats and the songbirds that I feed. I am a veterinarian, and I don't want this to happen to any other animals. My Rhododendron bushes became infected with black vine weevils last year. I asked Bartlett Tree Service to spray them with pyrethrins. They said that it would take a few treatments, and they gave me dates around the time that the bushes should be treated. I told them that the treatment dates would need to be scheduled with me in advance, because I have an outdoor cat and my neighbors have 2 outdoor cats that spend much time lounging underneath the bushes. All of the cats would need to be brought inside prior to spraying and kept inside until the pyrethrins dried as pyrethrins are toxic to cats, causing muscle fasciculations, tremors, seizures, and death. In addition, there are 5 bird feeders between two of the bushes and a bird house between two of the bushes. These would need to be covered prior to spraying. April 9, 2024 was the date that Bartlett Tree Experts had said would be around the time that the bushes would need to be sprayed. On April 5, 2024, I saw two Bartlett Tree technicians walking up my driveway with sprayers. I went out, and they said that they were coming to spray. I told them that I had told Bartlett Tree Experts that spraying would have to be scheduled in advance so that I could prepare to protect the cats and the birds. I called the Raleigh office after they left and stated this again. They said that someone would contact me to schedule. No one did. On April 18, 2024 I had just finished bathing my mother and walked into the kitchen and saw a Bartlett Tree technician with a sprayer walking down the driveway towards his truck. I stopped him and asked if he had sprayed. He said that he had. I told him that my agreement with Bartlett Tree was that no one would come out to spray unless it was scheduled in advance. He said that he rang the doorbell, and no one answered. My doorbell doesn't work and even if it did, I would not have been able to leave my mother in the middle of a bath. So, my bushes were sprayed, endangering the lives of 3 cats and many songbirds. I called the Raleigh office and informed them. The manager called me and said that I was supposed to get an email 24 hours in advance. I did not either of the two times that technicians came out. He said that it was not their intention to endanger the life of my cats. The intention is no excuse for the carelessness and the potential harm that was done. I will not use Bartlett Tree Experts again, because I value the life of my cat, my neighbors' cats, and the songbirds. I cannot recommend that others use their services as well. We used Bartlett Tree Services last year and the arborist was JW Hardison. He is extremely knowledgeable about trees and native plants. His follow-up is very poor. After numerous calls and weeks of waiting they did come out and the crew did an excellent job (over 2 months later). This year Mr. Hardison came out in mid August and promised an estimate within 2 weeks. When that time passed I called the office and got his cell number. Called that number and his voice mail was full and I could not leave a message. Called the office back a couple of days later and left a voice mail. Called his voice mail and left a message. It is now the middle of November. We have moved onto another company and I would not recommend this particular arborist. read more

Was incredibly impressed by our experience with Bartlett. We called Bartlett to ask about an arborist evaluation, which was scheduled within a week, and our arborist, Allen Jones, arrived on time, was incredibly knowledgeable, and did a thorough (complementary) walk around our property pointing out legitimate areas of concerns and educating us on various trees and shrubs and how they should be cared for. He sent over a reasonable estimate for extensive pruning work (as well as some recurring plant treatments for bugs and nutrients), and once we signed the contract the team was scheduled to be on site the same week. Note, this was mid February and not during a major stormy period when I could imagine things might be busier. The crew of three guys were incredibly courteous and all well educated and informed about the job. They took great care in removing dead limbs and getting our trees looking much cleaner and professionally pruned than they were before. We especially liked working with Bartlett because they didn't just come in and lob off branches to make our trees look ridiculous. They neatly thinned things out and were careful to ensure the trees kept their shape and overall structure. This is in sharp contrast to many of our neighbors who have had landscaping crews (rather than arborist organizations) come in who just chop off the top half of their trees and "crape-murder" all their crape myrtles. I cannot recommend the Bartlett team more highly. We were genuinely impressed by the knowledge of our arborist and the subsequent crew, and we will be maintaining their services going forward. Note: was disappointed to see some negative reviews on here that had nothing to do with the work, and more to do with scheduling issues. This company really is top notch and has knowledgeable local arborists who care about their work and provide excellent services. read more

My review is based on our experience BEFORE tree cutting/service. We scheduled an appointment for Thursday at 10am. They emailed the day before to confirm. At 10:06 we got a text from Nate saying he was running late from an office meeting and would we be around most of the day? We replied no, we had actually waited there for him before heading to our own meetings. He then called and said he could come out later that afternoon but we couldn't meet him then. I can understand traffic, I can understand running late, but he had to have known the day before about the meeting or at the very least heading into it that he wouldn't be at our home at 10. I emailed to discuss our disappointment since we needed the trees taken care of before we can move to the next stage and got no response from that. Overall disappointed in our experience. read more

We are completely satisfied with our experience with Bartlett Tree Experts. They performed "natural pruning" on a ~100 year-old post oak tree that is located at the junction of 3 properties. The aborist, Robert Day, was extremely knowledgable and attentive to the wishes of all 3 sets of homeowners over whose property the large tree branches extended. The crew that performed the work, which included removal of dead branches, trimming some live branches, and eradicating extensive poison ivy climbing up the tree, was very careful and professional. Huge branches were removed in a methodical manner avoiding any damage to nearby fences and other vegetation. All debris was removed. The overall quality of the work was excellent and well worth the cost. All 3 families are satisfied with the work and plan to recommend Bartlett to others. read more

Please be very certain you know what you are paying for. I was billed again for them to finish up pruning that was not done the first time around. Please make very clear that dead branches that are high up are also dead branches that should be trimmed. I'm not really sure they fertilized the trees as I have paid. I work from home, and my office faces the back yard. I would have seen them do the work. All I saw was some low branches being cut. Not even all off them. Anyway... you are at risk of being taken. read more

Best contractors we've ever experienced. First, communications with Allen was incredibly easy. Dude replied in a timely manner and each time was courteous in his responses. Then four guys showed up on time and were professional and courteous. The crew was careful with our property. They must've taken a picture of our little ornamental frog and mushrooms display before they removed them, because they put them back exactly as they were prior. They removed and blew every bit of debris and wood chips. And the stump that remains is ground-level and cannot be seen. Look no further, just call them now. read more
