We have a wooded lot, and noticed that some of the trees next to the house, were leaning and hollow. Lester surveyed Monday afternoon, and scheduled removal of 11 trees (8 of which were more than 100 feet tall) for the next day. Lester was a pleasure to work with. He's very seasoned, explain the process, and provided a quote on the spot. I booked the service for the very next day. The crew of ~six arrived on time, with multiple vehicles and equipment, and the job took about 8 hours. When they left, you couldn't tell (except for the missing trees), that anything had been done. I think my yard and street were cleaner than when they arrived. When moving debris in my side yard, they also cleared trees that had previously fallen. As promised, they came back the next day and ground the stumps in my front yard. They have the expertise, the personnel and the equipment to do any job. Alan and Mike were very pleasant, answered my frequent questions, and it was a pleasure watching the process and meeting them. Their pricing was very reasonable. I recently contacted North Raleigh Tree Service to have several very large Oak & Pine trees removed. To say this team is professional would be an understatement! Watching them remove trees was like looking at Swiss watch, every move planned and precisely executed. The crane operator worked with such precision that about half the development came out to watch. They were so impressed with the team's performance that 3 of them had trees removed before the crew left the area and several others got estimates for future tree work. The primary point of contention with them is regarding damage to my concrete driveway from their crane. I and two other neighbors hired them together to remove trees from our 3 yards. They told me they would use a neighbor's 2 driveways to park the crane, that they should be able to reach my trees from there. They never once spoke with me about backing crane down my driveway. (I would not have hired them had I been aware they were going to use my driveway, and would have hired someone to just climb and lower the trees in sections instead.) On the day of job, half way done with the work on three yards, they pulled crane down my driveway unannounced. They did not use mats to protect the concrete (already cracked in upper area) while backing down to house. Then they parked crane a yard from garage. Weight bearing supports were placed inches from concrete side steps less than a yard from the house and foundation. This is VERY irresponsible and unprofessional. Who just pulls a crane down someone's driveway without discussion in advance to highlight possible risks and simply to get permission!? As a result I have significant damage to my driveway over several areas, including close to the house, which will require expensive concrete repairs. Note: they drove their heavy Bobcat loaded with huge limbs up and down the unprotected driveway as well. They also trimmed 2 hardwood trees incorrectly, not as agreed. They removed far too many limbs from a maple, all on wrong side of tree. I had asked them to cut exactly ONE limb, the one hanging over roof. They did the opposite. And they didn't cut limbs hanging over roof on a poplar tree, which had been in our agreement. They did come back and remove the poplar limbs a few days later. (Side note- they also dragged many heavy limbs through flowerbed areas instead of the nearby driveway, damaging flowers and eroding the soil.) 3- After initially offering a token discount, which seemed like an admission of responsibility, they later refused to reduce price at all. They tried to make it seem like they did me a favor by coming back. Wrong--they came back to finish the incomplete job. And by that time I was aware of how badly their crane had damaged the driveway. We received a prompt reply to our inquiry and a prompt estimate for service. We were surprised to find them at our home the following morning since we hadn't approved the quote yet - but we were going to approve and let them get to work. They had a number of workers on the job and completed the work very quickly and left our property free of debris. Note for future reference: You should really ask if they will trim what they can reach from the ground or if they will climb to do a thorough job. The crew looked over the tree first for the best way to remove it. The crew was professional and took great care to not damage my side walk with their crane. They left and cut several smaller pieces of limb for me to keep and even helped load some for a neighbor kid who wanted some bigger pieces for himself. The foreman listened to my requests. N Raleigh Tree was timely from the start. They came out for an onsite estimate within a 1-2 week period. They were very competitively priced and have a crane that was able to reach over 100 ft. You will be hard pressed to find as good of a tree removal crew for the pricing and service they provide. While onsite the day of the tree removal, I asked for a few additional items to be done. They were very flexible and reasonable with pricing add-ons. In the end, they removed 10 large pine trees, 2 smaller trees and trimmed several trees within a 4 hour period. The estimator showed up exactly on time, and gave us a quote that was far less than others. The crew showed up right on time, and got to work immediately. They were fascinating to watch, it is obvious that they all had their own job and knew it well. I do not know how much they pay the guy that was swinging among the branches 100 ft in the air, but it ain't enough! The trees were all down and cut as I had asked, the smaller branches were chipped and blown in the yard as I wanted, and all the small debris was raked up in about 3 hours. Amazing. I chose NRTS based on their favorable Yelp reviews, but I didn't have the greatest experience with the crew that removed one tree and removed limbs from another in my yard. There were several things I took issue with. They drove the bucket truck up into my neighbor's yard AFTER asking and being denied permission. They either took or knocked down my TWC connection leading to house, and left the wire coiled and hidden in some shrubs. Internet was out for a couple days until I could schedule TWC to come reconnect. Lastly, they left several empty water bottles in both mine and neighbor's yard. I was scrambling to pick up left trash before my neighbor got home and discovered for himself. To the owner's credit, he called me to apologize after I reached out to crew foreman. I appreciated his intent, but I still feel like I paid big $$$ for less than mediocre service. I would not use North Raleigh Tree Service again. read more

I hired North Raleigh Tree Service to take out about a dozen trees in my yard. We moved in a few months ago and our house had very large Pines that were close to the house. Also, we had a large Oak that was leaning over our back deck and roof. They sent a whole crew of workers and trucks here. They worked the whole day and by noon, I couldn't believe how many trees had already been taken down. I had called a few other tree companies prior to this and only one responded with a response of "we are very busy right now, we will send someone out next week". They took it apart surgically piece by piece in an orchestrated fashion. They did the same for 3 other large trees. They removed ever stick of wood and cleaned it up as if the trees were never there. He offered me estimates for two options (one for trees I knew had to come down in the front yard and a second for things I was considering in the back yard as well as pruning some ornamental trees). Very impressed with the service and most of all communication. What really impressed me was the communication. When we first scheduled the appointment needed to be canceled which was not a problem since Kevin was upfront and gave me warning. That is all I ask. If you can't make it at least let me know so I'm not tracking you down. He rescheduled a week later and even let me know there was a problem with the log truck and he would be back that afternoon. Horrible, unprofessional company! I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. I made an appointment for an estimate. 5 minutes after the appointment, I received an email saying that it was cancelled. The second time I tried to make an appointment, I called the company 15 minutes after the appointment time. The rude lady said he was "on his way." After another half hour of waiting, I called again to ask what happened and she told me the same thing. I immediately told her to cancel it all together.
