I first tried making an appointment here a few months back after I spotted the place walking to brunch one Sunday afternoon.. I called and left a message. When I didn't hear back the next day, I went else where for my bi-monthly no chip mani/pedi. But I was shocked I NEVER received a call back! I've been a Hair and Make-Up Artist for over 15 years and have never and wouldn't ever,
not return a clients message.
I usually get my nails done by where I work. But I happened to have a Thursday off and thought I would try to get an appointment in my neighborhood. I called around 10am and got the voicemail stating they opened at noon. Which is so weird in my opinion. But I left a message anyway. When 12:30 rolled around, and I never received a call back, I decided to drive there since I was running errands. I look back now and can't believe I was so persistent on getting my nails done there when they clearly weren't very accommodating. When I arrived they did seem busy with a wedding party. I asked if there was any availability. She said not until 4, and I took the appointment. When she asked my name, she realized I was on the call back list on the notebook she pointed out to me. She said she was busy and would have called me back eventually. I was shocked that if she knew she had a wedding party, why she didn't come into work early enough to set up and return voicemails?? That has been proper procedure in every salon I've ever worked at. Again, I threw all caution to the wind, just because the place was pretty and charming.
I wish it got better. But it got worse.
When I arrive I'm instructed to pick a no chip color from a huge ring of like a hundred nail samples. Not convenient or easy to do. When I finally fumble through them and pick an orangey red, I am left to find a "match" for my toes on the wall of a hundred different colors. Out of all the reds, there wasn't any that matched, not even close! My nail tech wasn't very helpful and kept suggesting colors that were obviously so different. I just settle on one darker blood red color out of frustration. My tech only spoke to me when promoting which product she was using on me, in hopes I'd buy it. You'd think she'd work quicker since she wasn't making small talk, or even smiling at me. But no. LONGEST mani/pedi I've EVER had to sit through.
I had somewhere to be, so after 2 hours, I fore went the ending hand massage. Which if it was anything like my "foot massage", it would have been just her applying lotion. I went up front to pay, the guy (who I think is the owner), rung me up. He tried charging me an extra $10 to remove my no chip, on ONE finger! I questioned it, and he said oh ok only $1 extra then. I've never had to pay extra for removal. What a rip off. Not to mention their prices are higher then my usual go to nail salons. He kept trying to make small talk and I had to be somewhere so I politely hurried out and walked home. It wasn't until I got into the car to head out when I got home, that I even looked at my nails. My cuticles where still visible, cracked and dry. I even had a couple hang nails still! There were tiny bumps on 3 of my nails. She completely missed a second coat swipe on half my thumb because I can see my nail through it!
I called first thing in the morning and had to leave a message because again, they don't open until noon! Wtf seriously. What kind of salon has those hours?? I did receive a call back hours after they opened. The receptionist was apologetic and offered me to come back in 2 days to get it fixed. Unfortunately, a family emergency arose that day prior to my appointment and I had to call to reschedule. It was after they had supposedly opened, but no one answered and I had to leave another message. I apologized that I couldn't make it and asked if I could reschedule. Being their crazy weird hours, the next time I would be able to get there was Friday, 5 days later. Since it would be over a week after my original appointment, I said I would be willing to accept a discounted rate for my next appointment instead. Which ever option would work for me. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. That was 5 days ago!
I'm completely disgusted with their lack of customer service, their technicians lack of experience/friendliness, their ridiculous high prices, and my overall experience in general. I've been get my nails done twice a month for 15+ years. And I can't even remember ever being this disappointed in the outcome.
I'm actually not that picky. And I always show my gratitude by tipping about 40%. Only IF the tech was friendly, efficient, and gave me his/her best quality work. Don't be fooled by the frills and charm of this place. You will end up frustrated, disappointed, and will have half assed nails for a unworthy rate. read more
