Stopped in on a Monday afternoon durning happy hour. The restaurant is actually quite large and deceiving from the exterior. It seemed clean and in good order, with a few patrons at tables and the bar a little over half full with what seemed to be regulars. The bartender greeted me immediately but by no means seemed excited to help me or his job or his life but that's fine, I appreciate prompt service. After ordering my drink I was offered a menu. Many items actually sounded really good and it was somewhat of a hard decision it in the end went with the Moe's Burger. Burger was solid. Nothing to write home about but definitely memorable enough to A) get again; and B) draw me into coming back and trying more on the menu. It was creamier and the sauce was slightly different from what I'm used to, but I would almost say I prefer it to the typical sauce used. Met up with a gf in Mounds View, MN yesterday. Figured we try Moe's since it was the closest to us. 4pm was quite busy on a Wednesday afternoon. It was HH and half of wings day from 4pm to 10pm. YUM! The cuisine I sampled this evening was their turkey melt that consisted of an oven roasted turkey breast, Swiss cheese with some bacon drizzled with a cranberry aïoli sauce amid a delectable grilled cranberry wild rice bread and natural cut fries. In town for my sons hockey tournament this weekend and stopped by Moe's after his game. Seating was quick and hostess was nice. We started off with Nachos and Moes Wings , they were pretty good. Ordered a couple Moes burgers and a pizza . The Burgers were good size , very juicy and delicious. The pizza was ok. Our waiter was great , on top of refills, and also friendly. I was in need of meatloaf, and my favorite at Tavern on Grand was discontinued. So I drove up to Mounds View to give Moe's a try. 5-star meatloaf. Great gravy, and real mashed potatoes. The meatloaf itself was great, not gristly, and seasoned well. Came with a side of corn. Nice atmosphere; sort of like a sports bar crossed with a family sit-down place. When I got there, I was probably the 5th person in the dining room, but it got busy really fast. The service was a bit on the slow side, accordingly, but still very friendly and helpful. Pretty decent food and very big portions enough for left overs the next day. My husband stopped here for a to go order which consisted of: Reuben and onion rings- good. Onion rings were okay, I prefer a different style batter, but they were still good and the sauce that came with it was very tasty. Burger with fries- received the wrong order here which the remedied. Kids burger which was quite hearty. Order took a while to get and the mix up was taken care of so we will go back and give it another try. Moe's is very easy to get to off of Highway 10. Is is right next to the movie theater. We had originally came because it was convenient to eat here before our movie! One the particular day we were here, they were having a deal on crab. I was naturally super excited! I love crab. It was not too bad. I have had better crab but it wasn't terrible. My boyfriend got the Mac and cheese and it wasn't bad either. The service was okay. I was waiting sometimes for them to bring me more crab and for refills on my drink. The staff was pretty pleasant though. Moe's is good to come in the area, but I won't recommend getting what is on special that day to ensure that it is fresh and will be good. My husband's band was playing in the park across the street from Moe's. We arrived early and decided to get an early dinner before setting up. Moe's is a big place with a great menu. Something for everyone, including gluten free. I thoroughly enjoyed their Uptowner, turkey burger with cranberry cheddar cheese on a gf bun. It was a real treat! Hubby chowed their signature burger. 5 stars, Moe's, 5 stars. Not like this is a Meritage or Travail-esque establishment, but for what you expect and what you get, this place is pretty damn good for Mounds View. Yes, Mounds View... it's a place that is a mere 15mins from Minneapolis but is considered BFE. But hey, I've been here several times and have never had one complaint. The first time we came here was for Easter brunch. We called last-min for a reso, and they were still able to accommodate us at our desired time. They had a lovely set-up of an enclosed outdoor tent full of meat carving stations and trays of heart-attack. I love these things. There was a lot of variety and I honestly enjoyed everything. And yes, they had a lot of healthy options too but that's hard for me to care about at a buffet. The second time, we showed up late after a fishing trip and the kitchen was about to close in 5mins. But they were still kind and patient and agreed to serve us with a smile. I was obviously starving so I ordered chicken fingers, and was pleasantly surprised that they were fresh and hand-breaded. That makes a huge difference to me and fellow chicken finger aficionados. And children. I highly recommend their chicken parmigiana. Hear me out. I probably sound like a basic bitch raving about chicken fingers and chicken parm, but theirs is just so good. They have a homemade marinara that tastes like a blend of marinara and a vodka alfredo sauce. Tangy, creamy, cheesy. My boyfriend was all frisky for it too. I enjoyed their bacon blue burger that was stuffed with thick porky bacon, instead of a majority of grease and fat, and they were generous with the blue cheese. Next time I need to narrow in on some steak and walleye. They often have events and specials. They are also active and responsive on Facebook.
