Though I consider myself a somewhat tech-savvy individual, I've never before felt compelled to write an internet review. That changed today with my experience (where I currently sit) at Jet City Devices. Background: In a moment of sober clumsiness, I dropped my phone and broke the screen (including the LCD). Nothing worked, so I opted for my carrier's "upgrade" and purchased a new phone. In what turned out to be quite a conundrum, I was unable to transfer my data to the new phone because the broken one had a password lock on it that was now impossible to use given the condition of the screen. My carrier (not surprisingly) was of absolutely no help. After walking into Jet City, they offered to retrofit a screen (as I only needed to enter the passcode) solely so I could download my data/contacts. And perhaps not surprisingly given their extremely high ratings, they did it for FREE. They even refused my offer to compensate for what amounted to an act of non-publicized commercial kindness (not something you hear about very often). Absolutely the best service I have ever had for my broken phone, and I have done it several times. I'm an organic farmer and smart phones and farming don't mix. I happened to be in Chicago for a conference and am so glad I scheduled my repair at Jet City. I arrived a little early but didn't have to wait. The gentleman got started on the phone right away, said it would take about 10 minutes and I think it even took less than that. He even offered to clean up the case because it has some tiny shards of glass and lots of dust in it. I opted for the protection plan because when I break the phone again I won't have to pay for it! Awesome place. My girlfriend dragged me over because the life blood of my iPhone (i.e. the battery) needed changing. I called to get a battery replacement TJ was so nice and helpful recovering from a serious accident and they treated me wonderfully! I got lost and flustered on my way to shop however I talk to Noah and he tell me to take my time don't get hurt trying to get to the shop which I thought was really kind went there and they very hospitable very gentlemanly very knowledgeable and was a wonderful blessing to me and my phone. My son cracked the screen on his iPhone 6, so my co-worker suggested JCD Repair. I went online to easily schedule a repair service with courier pickup/drop-off service. The courier picked up my phone within the hour. After about an hour, I received a call from a tech person saying the camera was affected when my son dropped it and could easily be replaced for an additional $30...I approved the repair. In less than an hour after that, the courier returned with the phone in mint condition. They did an incredible job on the repair with the service was professional and expedient. While Apple does not sell them the screen part they claim it's identical and I do believe them their integrity is 100%. They said if I'm not satisfied I can bring it back within two weeks they will keep and replace my old screen and I can bring it to Apple, and Jet will refund everything. I've used these guys at Hyde Park twice. The first time they reset the front glass on an iPhone purchased off Amazon. That transaction was smooth and the work was great! This time I was in a pinch because the phone looked like it was beyond repair. My son needed it for a trip he was leaving on soon. I sent the phone to them to have the smashed front glass repaired and also the front camera. But USPS let me down and took 9 days to deliver a two-day priority package. These guys - I only know Mike and Aaron but I think there are more - took my problem and made it their problem and dealt with it quickly and really came through for me. They received the phone on Friday afternoon, shipped it out Saturday via UPS and I received it 10:30AM Monday and the phone was/is in perfect shape. I have taken my phones here for 3 years. They are very fast and thorough. If you make an appointment, you can be in and out in 30 minutes. If you're clumsy like me, I highly recommend the insurance they offer. Interesting story: While I was waiting for my phone, a woman came in to pick up her phone that had severe water damage. Unfortunately, the water damage was too extensive and the phone could not be repaired. She said that she knew it was a long shot since the damage was so bad. Although they performed work on it and replaced parts, they did not charge her a dime. She tried to insist on paying something since they did so much work, but they insisted that there was no charge.
