Many folks don't realize that California has a very active and successful competition BBQ Association. As such, they also have skilled Pit builders. Ken is at the top of that list. He is a skilled welder, cares about his customers and builds extremely high quality into his equipment. After looking at my options, I decided on a vault type smoker, mainly because I could feed it while it was smoking. I found the KAT smaller vault was perfect in size and more economical than most. Ken has a waiting list and makes the wait times clear on his website. His site says that there is currently a 21-26 week wait. Mine was a little longer. That was okay with be, because I now have my lifetime smoker! I am a certified pitmaster, KCBS member and BBQ judge and have seen many pits. The welds, attention to details and quality that goes in to these units is superior! The attention to detail astounds me. So, Ken gave me a call to let me know my pit was ready for pickup. So off to California I go from Phoenix, AZ. Ken was friendly, accommodating and a joy to chew the fat with. Because i couldn't find many reviews for Ken or KAT smokers when I purchased the smoker, I had some uncertainty. That is why I added this review on Yelp. You can rest assured that Ken is a good, hard working man that won't do you wrong. In my discussions with Ken, he has even taken pits back from customers to make function modifications for them. He all about his customers, trustworthy and friendly. Ken took me through the operation of his smoker and was quite proud as he did so. Rightfully so, the machine is perfect! From Modesto, I drove to the Bay Area. While there I showed my new smoker to a close friend who is an integral member of the California BBQ Association. She was exited to hear that I purchased a KAT smoker. She told me that a pitmaster friend of hers had one as well and that she and he thought highly of them. She told me that they were conducting a BBQ competition that Saturday on Coast Guard Island using their KAT. Not a bad endorsement! In the end, I got my beautiful pit and I am very pleased by my experiences with Ken. I would like everyone to know that you can trust Ken and KAT smokers! I reported the issue in November, and they inspected it in January. Since then, despite multiple follow-ups and a formal written request for resolution, I have not received any response or proposed solution. I also had a local engineer inspect the installation. He did not identify any structural issues with the support. The countertop material is marketed for outdoor use, so this appears to be a product or installation failure. I was hoping to resolve this directly, but the lack of communication has been disappointing. I'm still open to working with them to fix the issue.

Rant: BBQ Outlets (on Nissen Dr. here in Livermore) I…read morehonestly post this in hopes of getting a resolution. Back in January we put a hefty deposit down for a custom built-in bbq/smoker. We received zero communication until April when the owner finally responded stating "rain put us behind schedule but will be able to deliver by the end of this month." In May we followed up asking for an update, only to receive "let me check with factory." After weeks of unreturned phone calls, we left a message stating we were no longer interested and wanted a full refund. The owner, Surinder "Sunny" Multani who has dodged us for 6 months, responded stating he agreed to this, would cancel our order, and issue a full refund. 4 weeks went by of "Sunny" dodging our numerous phone calls and emails. Now a month later, he is stating he will keep 20% of our deposit due to a restocking fee (if he has the BBQ, why won't they just install it?!). We have really tried to make this work, however after months of zero follow through or communication, we simply want our deposit back or the BBQ asap. Has anyone had success with this company? Does anyone have a reliable contact at BBQ Outlets that will call us back? Note: they required the deposit be in cash or check, so disputing this with the credit card company is not an option

When i was buying was was not told in the garden section with the lady told me about the warranty. When I went to cash out the lady didn't mention anything. So How Ace is a customer service company. NO THE SERVICE IS PATHETIC.
