In today's age you don't really see exceptional customer service anymore. Well this Ace just hit it out of the park. I had purchased some electrical adapters in Ripon to make a custom pigtail and I ended up getting the wrong fitting. I was no longer in that area and figured I would go and pick up the right fitting in Ceres. Each Ace store independently owned so I didn't expect them to exchange parts. Good home improvement store next to Home Depot even though they have very limited selection. As hubby would say, it is a good convenience store. One difference between them and Home Depot, customer service. They know they have smaller selection and their building is also smaller. We have left the other home improvement store frustrated too many times. It's nearly impossible to get anyone to help you and their online inventory doesn't always match what's in the store. Didn't feel welcomed in here as a latino family, Workers Kept asking if we needed any help with a demanding rude tone as if we were stealing. They kept following all of us around the store while shopping. We felt deeply offended by these micro aggressions and attitudes, we will no longer be supporting this business. Sandy was rude. We're going to paint our house and decided to go to Ace Hardware instead of a Walmart. We got the most amazing customer service from Vicki, from Ace on Whitmore. We would not of got that great service from Walmart. Vicki was so helpful and friendly with a positive attitude that makes us want to come back. I usually love going here because of all the friendly/helpful people. Today was not that day. I haven't returned anything at this store so I already felt uncomfortable even though I did have my receipt (I hate returning items). The cashier was friendly and helpful but needed a manger to complete the return. I was the only one in line until he called for a manager and then the line grew. Vicki eventually showed up and the first thing she did was ask if the item was theirs. I thought it was undermining the cashier and insulting to me as a regular customer. I would've said something to her but I was so shocked and did not want to delay the other customers that were patiently waiting for another cashier (there were now more than 5 people waiting). I hope that in the future I don't have to deal with Vicki because she was very rude and not the Ace manager I would expect. read more

This used to be my favorite hardware store to go into because it's small and near my house, that all changed when i went in yesterday afternoon. I went in and as soon as i did i was stared down by the staff and a couple customers that were in there. I had gone in to inquire about working there and the lady i talked to acted like it was an insult to even ask. It was very uncomfortable and i will never step foot in there again. Plus i told friends about this experience and many of them told me they had similar issues with this Ace location. read more

As a hardware store, its fine. A tad pricey - but then again, if its not one of those monolith hardware stores, then they all are. What I didn't particularly care for was the "customer service" at the paint department. Sure, it was free paint day. I'm sure this doesn't thrill them. I was looking for a cable to hang misters on and was explaining it to a lady when an employee "Carlos" walked up and just said they don't have anything like that. Carlos then started to argue with me before turning his back and walking away. Yeah I was mad but the lady that also worked there helped me find something that would work. I was sent here after Home Depot didn't have the size screws I needed. The employees went out of their way to help me even though the place was quite busy. I didn't research the project I was doing well enough and ended up making multiple trips back. They were more helpful each time I came back understanding my frustration. Great store! I go here instead of the box stores. Feel the nostalgia of a mom and pop style atmosphere. Every time I've been there the service is stellar. I am pretty clueless about most tools and hardware stuff. The staff at this store are patient with me and seem genuine when they offer assistance. Besides hardware and tools they have gardening and other various housewares. You can also find cool holiday decor that is different from the box stores. Parking is close to the store and no long lines. read more
