I was trying to buy a gallon of paint that was five dollars off because I had bought a sample and I like the color she said I would not get the five dollars off because I the sample with it which made no sense she argue with me and when I mention that usually I get my she explained that maybe I should go there she was getting agitated cause I was holding up her line, then proceeded to ask for a manager Which he told me yes I get five dollars off and proceeded to help me This is the second time I've had a problem at this location. Another fine Ace Hardware. Strand's is huge for an Ace. Filled up nicely with stuff you need and some things you "might " want. Needed a couple of carriage type bolts for a bathroom fix. Problem was the old junk was made in China that had no real American equivalent. The gentleman in hardware (Kenny, I think) gave me his undivided attention till I was happy with my new setup. Thank you! And Johnathan at checkout was more than helpful with some loose change at the register so I didn't have to run out to my car and get some, perfect. Big box, behemoth hardware stores might have a place but for most jobs for most of us this Ace has it. A training management, kind and knowledgeable staff. I went in for pait and door handles. Place is clean and organized. Had to search around for an employee to help with paint. Glad I did because I grabbed transparent paint and I wanted stock white for closet doors. He was friendly and explained the difference in type. decorative door handles were easy to find. The most sweetest receptionist helped me out and looked up to see if i had a rewards account. Turns out I did. I will be coming back for my DIY projects. read more

The service at Ace Hardware is fantastic! I came in without a clue on how to replant my snake plants. Kim the garden attendant. Saw that I was having trouble deciding what pots to get. she spent a good 10minutes with me. To ensure I had the best pot, soil, and drip pans for my project at a great price. kudos to Kim not only she helped me find the materials to do my project, but she also gave me some great tips on how to do it. Every time I go in there I get excellent service. The staff there is friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable in their department. We came to Ace because we needed keys copied. My husband also needed a new set of screwdrivers. The gal at the locksmith/key area was pleasant and efficient. By the time I made it back to the toolbox area my husband had found some help and was discussing various things. Workers were friendly, store large, well organized and well supplied. This may become our go to store as the experience was good. Only Mini complaint ( though it's the times of today) many things locked up so if they were busy I could see it taking a while. Make sure you go with a man if you're checking out this large, well-stocked, and entertaining Ace hardware. Not until I went by myself to buy paint, only to have multiple staff avoid acknowledging me until one demanded "haven't you been helped already?" as if I were loitering, did I realize that the helpful, friendly service I'd admired was all because I'd always gone with my dad. If you have a guy along, this store rocks. It has a terrific selection, does some household items as well, has decent plants, and keeps a freezer of pies by the registers. The parking lot is fairly sane. Be aware that if you sign up for Ace Rewards, you'll get tons of coupons, but they'll virtually never be usable because items are so often on sale. Customer service was terrible, a worker came up to us to ask us if we needed help and then acted annoyed and rude when being asked questions. He was condescending and disrespectful, once called out for his attitude he walked away quickly. Hopefully it's just this worker that has an attitude problem. We found a nice outdoor furniture set online and it said it was available for pick up. They didn't have it out on the floor but we could buy it but could not look at it first. We bought that and a big umbrella. When the cashier rang us up it came up $100 more than the listed sale price. We asked her about it and she laughed and said we didn't understand the receipt. We went back in because it was definitely wrong. Customer service said we didn't understand it and that it was correct. Finally got a manager that finally saw it was wrong. Gave us the $100. The very next time we came in the cashier rang up two of my plants twice for a 20.00 mistake. Too tired to go back. She was so busy talking she didn't see that she was ringing up things over again. Do NOT use curbside pick up. After receiving an email informing me my items were ready for pickup, I drove to the store, called them and told them I was on site to pick up my order. After fifteen minutes, I called back and asked why no one came to give me my order. I was told there were hundreds of orders and it was taking time to find it. I almost told them if they alphabetized the curbside orders it wouldn't take fifteen minutes to find them. After thirty minutes, an employee came out with HALF my order. He said they were out of stock of the sprinkler heads I ordered, and they wouldn't get them in until May 5th. Why send a customer an email to pick up an order that: *Can't be found *That's incomplete with items out of stock Avoid curbside orders from this location. It's disorganized and they tell you your order is ready, when in fact it isn't. read more

I was disappointed and mourned when Orchard Supply Hardware on Oakdale road closed its doors a while ago. I had depended on them for a lot of hardware and garden materials and advice. Then when the Ace Hardware store opened, I was excited and tried them out. There have been transitions from the challenging opening with plenty of hardware and spotty knowledgeable people. Now, even with CoVid 19 and it's challenges, their hardware supply is good. What is needed there, as in any hardware store, is knowledgeable employees who love their jobs and are friendly and helpful to the people they serve. Let's go get 'em Ace! You can do it! Had an experience that pissed me off about 30 minutes ago. I went in to get an item I ran out of this morning. I was wearing shorts and a hoodie. I been working outside in the yard, and I wasnt about to go inside, shower, shabe and put on new clothes to go to Ace! But as soon as I got in, I was immediately followed by an older employee, like he was keeping an eye on me. Then I got to my aisle, and he was joined by a SECOND employee. Customer service asks if I need assistance and backs away when I do not. Getting a second employee is like having 2 police cars pull up at a traffc stop. This was not helping me. This was keeping an eye on me, thinking I was going to steal. I usually shop here for my quick household needs. But not anymore. I have no problem driving to Riverbank and going to Home Depot. Inconvinient? Yes. But at least they dont act like Im about to rob them. read more

I was just in this Ace location and had a few comments. One is that the store appeared to not have their air conditioning working and had two huge industrial fans on the floor to help compensate (I assume). When I asked if their system was down, I was advised that they were told AC working just fine. Clearly it was not as the two employees I had discussions with were melting it was so hot in there. Also, I wanted to offer a huge thank you to Sargon(spelling?) who assisted with my questions and he was very very patient and extremely helpful. By far, hands down this is my most favorite hardware store. I definitely do not mind driving out of my way to this location, for the simple fact that people that work you are immensely friendly. There hasn't been a single visit of mine, where I went and they were not helpful. Unlike other hardware stores, where they will just point you at where things are, or will Sigh after you asked him a question, the employees over here happily walk you to the place, and will genuinely try to go out of their way to help them out. Ok first off I want to say the store is really nice inside and the customer service has always been good. The only thing that gets me about this place is the prices. I hate saying that but goodness gracious some of the stuff is marked up to the high heavens. Now with that being said I do enjoy the selections, they have things that Home Depot doesn't carry like kitchen gadgets, I found some cool things here! They also have a small camping and fishing sections as well as nice clothing! I still shop here but due to the prices I just buy less items at once. If you absolutely need to visit the hardware store, and you actually care about not spreading a virus that has our nation on lock down, avoid this store. I observed workers wearing their masks on their neck (our check out clerk with a runny nose being one of them), he just fiddled with it the entire time. The line to check out does not support social distancing (you know that thing we are all encouraged to do). The pregnant girl behind me was close enough to have a seat in my basket while she had her finger in her eye. I have shopped there three times now. Each time I wasted lots of it time trying to find any help. After wasting hours the first time, I was eventually told that the store was out of stock, the warehouse was out of stock. And the factory was on back-order. I got the same waste of time, and the same song and dance the second & third times too. Each visit was about a month apart, so enough time to get their act together, you would think. They have hardly any men's pants, costs, or jackets.if they have anything, it's just a few small sizes! A high percentage of your male customers are big farm guess 6'2"-6'3", yet you are too chicken sh#t to carry clothes in our sizes. Sorry, but strike three, and you are out. read more

I had to write this review due to the service we received from Vinnie. Vinnie helped us to choose the right BBQ for us. We spent nearly twice as much as planned, but could not be more delighted with our choice. After serving as a VP and Chief Sales Officer for a large private company, I can say that Vinnie is that hard-to-find sales representative. He answered every question (we had many) with genuine thoughtfulness, professionalism, and expert knowledge. We bought our new Traeger Grill from Vinnie, not Ace. I observed no other employee rise to the same level of service. Had we not met Vinnie, I'd have been unimpressed. Exceptional salespersons like Vinnie sell a solution, not a product.
