I'd give a billion stars if i could! From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm welcome and friendly service from Leah. I was shopping for a Treager. Leah was a wealth of knowledge and great at answering all my questions and concerns. I was so indecisive and went back and forth on trying to choose the perfect grill for my husband's Father's Day gift. I couldn't be more pleased with the help and guidance I received from Leah. I never once felt rushed or a nuisance the entire time. I must say also that Lisa and Nathan were also wonderful to work with. I come to Strand Ace Hardware on a semi-regular basis when I need paint and hardware. They have a fairly good selection of specialty hardware which comes in handy for some of those ranch projects that need something I do not normally keep on the shelf. I have been using their Benjamin Moore paint for the last 10 years with good results. I like that they are locally owned and prefer to give my business to them rather than one of the orange or blue big box stores. I even took my lawn mower to them when I ran over a croquetball and bent the blade. I did not have time to deal with it. They changed the blade, oil, spark plug, and filter for a little over $40 which I thought was very reasonable. I expected to pay twice that or more. Across the board, their prices seem to be fairly comparable with the big box stores. If they are a little more, for most items I would eat the difference in fuel driving into town. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I stop by today oddly enough to get marshmallow roasting sticks. I called ahead to see if they had any and when I got there they had already pulled the roasting sticks off the shelves and met me with them. I guess they mean it when they say Ace is the helpful place. read more

I have held my tongue long enough. Not only are the prices at this Ace Hardware OUTLANDISHLY HIGH, Most of the time I can never find anybody that truly knows anything about what I'm asking for/talking about when I come in. The front counter staff seems very cheerful for the most part, however......Trying to find anything in stock or even in the correct place in the electrical and plumbing section is truly a joke! Most things are either marked incorrectly (which you find out they are more than the shelf tag price ONLY when you get up to pay for items), out of stock (which is 80% of the time) or in the wrong place all together. I would say a large portion of all the drain ABS pipe fittings are either non resistant or in the wrong place. I have asked several times, early mornings and late afternoons, to speak to who ever is in charge of this department to no avail, nowhere to be found. Other staff members from other departments i have recruited to help me yet I don't expect them to know much since "plumbing" may not be their expertise! This is not the only time nor example. I have spoken to many many other towns folk and seem to get the same reply when I speak about my experiences,,, "ACE is a joke"! Ridiculous prices, "True Value" has you hands down when it comes to staff knowledge and inventory being correct and/or in stock. Paint, Plants and mowers (not mower service,,,,,that's a chapter of clown show central for another time) seems to be the only parts of the store for which I can truly rely on for customer service, inventory when i need it and someone there who knows which way to hold a hammer! True management skilled employees are non-existent. Don't bother to ask for management, or even ownership for that matter. Nobody seems to care from management level and up! I remember when this ACE Hardware used to be down on Main St here in town. What a great store and great experience every time I went inside. Not any more. I understand the owners of this store have expanded into other surrounding cities. If they are ran ANYTHING like this locations, Its only a matter of time before we see a Going Out Of Business sign(s) on this and potentially all locations. Its sad to see such a staple of a business in this town being ran be modern day incompetent owners who allow these small examples (for which I and many many many others could speak several novels of negative experiences) to continue unchecked. I have read some of the other reviews touting wonderful service etc. They must have been paid off. These truly do not reflect what I and many others experience on almost a daily basis. You may think you may have all us ranchers and farmers in this town in your back pockets and hold us hostage with your "convenient" location ..........You don't!! Horribly overpriced, store product bait and switch when you get to the front check out counter, MIA staff etc. etc. ,, The sooner you recognize there is a problem, the sooner you can make forward progress to "Pull back on the proverbial Stick".... My kiddo (7) and I went here today and every single employee we interacted with was an absolute joy, especially Danny! He went out of his way to show my son cool stuff, walk him around and answer all his questions, and teach my son how to use the little propellor toy he wanted to get. We left with my kid saying he couldn't wait to go back to see all his new friends, and they also were helpful for the home repair things we *actually* went to get! They couldn't have been nicer or more attentive, and we will absolutely be coming back! read more

Impressive Ace Hardware. I was looking for a motor for my Traeger grill and discovered this place has what I needed. They were friendly and courteous and willing to hold the part for me which they only had one left the only downside or the only reason why I gave four out of five stars was because they are in the middle of nowhere. I was amazed that none of the staff was protected with gloves or masks. Nobody is wiping off carts or showing any concern at all for their customers. No care at all.!!! I've been a loyal customer of this Ace for years now and will not be returning anytime soon. I'm sure if the San Joaquin County Heath Services knew about this display of non interest in the safety of their customers or staff their may be some letter writing and/or fines to follow. I called looking for a specific item, and the woman who answered knew right away what I was talking about. I overheard her explaining to someone else what I was looking for & asked them if they knew the SKU #. After being on hold for about 10 minutes, she comes back on the phone clearly frustrated, "It doesn't look like we have any in stock and probably don't have any coming in either. Sorry, they're not being much help over there." I think she was talking about her coworkers not being much help on the other side of the store? It sounded like she never really got an answer if they had one or not & just decided it was time to tell me no. The whole thing was just unprofessional & off putting. This review is primarily about their garden section. I stopped in today looking for three plants of a specific variety and as I walked around checking out their inventory I was asked twice by two different employees in a friendly manner if I needed any help. Once I was ready to chat, it was easy to find an employee and she (Evva) was very helpful. I found exactly what I needed but was short one plant. Evva offered to obtain one from her supplier on their next delivery. I was impressed by the customer service and by the nursery-quality garden section. It's not as varied or large as nearby Morris obviously, but it was very well maintained and the all of the plants were healthy and well-tended. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

I rarely ever need something from a hardware/home improvement store, but when I lost one of the screws to my Glidecam 4000 PRO I needed to go somewhere that wasn't out of my way. Because I work in Escalon, Ace Hardware was conveniently on my way home. I stopped in and was looking around for about 20-30 seconds before a young guy came up to me and asked if I needed any assistance. I brought in my glidecam with me and he was able to help me find the proper screw and help make the decision as to the length. The replacement screw is even better than the original screws! Glad I bought four extras and I know where to go if I loose any more! Awesome customer service and super friendly staff who are there ready to help! read more

I shop here almost everyday off great people Mia always counts my change back the proper way. love the helpfulness the minute you step in and the popcorn great for the kids! (Update) so other than the almost overly helpful staff in a positive way the other day I went in to buy some 4x4 posts and paid for eight but when they went to go pull them out they only had seven. I needed to make sure they all were matching due to my compulsive nature so I got my money back and headed to the dreadful big box store. As I got a few miles away I received a call letting me know they found the missing inventory and if I still wanted them they would save them for me. Their employees are never on the same page with information. I can call and have something told to me and then get to the store and have a completely different thing told to me. As a team they need to represent a better attitude as well. Hardly ever see anyone smiling or being helpful when ready to checkout. Will no longer take my business there. read more

Wow! They must employ half of Escalon here. I stop here at least every other weekend...sometimes more, and it seems that there are three or four staffers near the entrance to greet me. I'll get asked at least once more if I need any help finding anything. Sometimes I'll ask them where something is so they can feel useful...can't just let them stand around bored all day! Pretty standard selection of a hardware store, it's a newer store, so it's clean and easy to find things. It's really the customer service that I appreciate. read more

I went there for yet another obscure item for my goofy projects, a 1/8" steel ball. Not only did they have it, they had every size from 1/16th up to 1". They seem to have EVERYTHING. Got a project you need to figure out how to build? These guys will help you figure it out if you have half a clue how you wanna do it. I had been meaning to buy a kiddie pool for my dog for over a month. So this last 4th of July I knew most stores weren't open so I turned to the internet. I ended up purchasing one from Strand's Ace online for in store p/u knowing they were closed for the holiday, but at least the purchase was made, all I needed to do was p/u within the next few days. A couple hours later I notice a missed call on my cell. The message was from one of the owners from Strand's saying they have my pool, yet were closed for the holiday.... then he says if I really wanted it today, he would meet me at the store.... wow, it doesn't get better than that. Very friendly, very knowledge able. I've had some obscure needs for various projects at my home, and everyone is always helpful to find what ever item I need to solve my problem. If something is packaged up, and your not sure if it will fit, they will open it for you and make sure it fits before you leave. U can go in there grab ur part n b out in 3 minutes after u went in. Times important to me n i dont care to spend my time in lines at lowes or home depot. There seams to always b someone nearby to help or they will let u be if u want to browse. Their staff is knowledgeable n very helpful if u need it. Honestly I give this place zero stars. Escalon was unique as it had two hardware stores before this place, that were small personable, and family owned. Every city in the bay area and the rest of the united states has one of these overpriced, slave labor produced selling products like Strand AceHardware and Lowes. Why did Escalon let them in? To make matters worse the owner appears to be a bigot prick as I overheard comments I didn't like toward a customer who appeared disheveled. I hope that they go outta business. . We all should stop supporting this new giant Walmart like store that was obviously built by a very wealthy person, built so quickly like it was. This ACE has always been really helpful, until I ordered a part for my BF's chainsaw. I was told it would cost $120 plus tax, over the phone. When I picked it up the price was now $160 plus tax. I was informed that the man who took my order was wrong and that basically summed it up. Probably an honest mistake, but I'll go elsewhere from now on. read more
