I thought I'd get a call back to attend to the no show and get an explanation or reschedule. Nothing. Bad business.

I've…read morebeen going to her for over five years, and over that time, she's become just as much a friend as she is the person I trust with my hair. What I love most about Alexis is that she knows her stuff, and she's never afraid to tell me what I should, or definitely shouldn't, do with my hair. She has a direct, no-nonsense approach, which I absolutely appreciate, but it's always balanced by the genuinely kind heart she has. She truly listens, knows what will work, and somehow always manages to make me feel like I'm in the best hands. Five years later, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. I'm so grateful I found her! Also a shout out to her assistant Amanda, another true gem or a girl.

I came to Deep Roots for a corrective appointment after a previous color service elsewhere left my…read morehair uneven, too light in certain areas, and generally not in a condition I felt comfortable with. Mahshid had a last-minute opening, and I booked it because I needed an experienced corrective-color specialist. Mahshid's technical skill was clear from the beginning. She quickly identified what needed to be corrected and explained the plan in a way that made sense. She did a root melt, added lowlights, adjusted the tone, and cut my hair so everything blended naturally again. The difference was significant, and the final result looked intentional, full of dimension, and much healthier. Sophie supported the entire process by keeping everything organized, assisting hands-on, checking in with me regularly, and coordinating each step so the appointment ran smoothly. Her attention to detail made a longer service feel so manageable. Ella was also assisting and shadowing and she was so sweet and kind, besides being super gentle while combing and blow drying my hair. I'd also like to acknowledge Nia, who did my consultation the week before. She gave me an honest assessment and encouraged me to take the opening with Mahshid since her own next availability was farther out. That transparency helped me make the right decision. I arrived feeling unsure about whether my hair could be corrected without more drastic measures, and I left with a result that restored both the color and my confidence, for real. I cried at the start from the disappointment on my hair, but then had happy tears at the end for the unbelievable results. This was a straightforward, professional experience with a team that clearly knows corrective work well. I did pay for my service, so the reason I'm writing this review is only because their work truly deserves so much recognition! Ps.: also sharing because if there's anyone out there who's in panic-mode with their hair (like I was), they'll know they can count on this team without hesitation. Ps2.: they have lil snacks and drinks, and the vibe and energy is just cozy and fun.

My hair stylist cancelled on me, so the shop gave me an alternative hair stylist "new girl" on my…read moreappointment for haircut and color. This "new girl" hair stylist (Jerica) should never be let serve customers. The owner of the shop should have had more rigorous supervision on this girl before she was let serve customers. Jerica showed me Hailey Bieber photo as an example (image attached), which I agreed. But then, color came too bright. She had to redo the color again after my complaint. She then showed her grumpy attitudes and saying, "you have too much hair". For this 7 hour long tiring process (yes, it's true), my hairs now become: * severely bleached and damaged. They are completely dry and will take 6 months of restoration. * now pain in hair roots. * haircut was very amateurish; she needs more experience. * I feel terrible because of all these. There are other good hair stylists in the shop. However, before Jerica was let serving customers, the owner of the shop should have Jerica under supervision of other experienced stylists which is unfortunately missing. I was very upset for a whole evening. But, I give my reviews to this hair salon regarding my experience.

The partial highlight that ended up costing me $762.50…read more I booked a partial highlight service and provided inspiration photos in advance showing a brunette with face-framing highlights. After nearly five hours in the salon, the service was completed and I immediately raised concerns regarding the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending between my natural color and the highlighted sections. I also asked whether additional blending, such as a root melt, would help soften the result. Rather than discussing those concerns, there seemed to be confusion about what I was seeing, so I ultimately asked that photos be taken so we could review the result together. The attached straight-hair photos were taken at that time, before I left the salon. That's when "one" area was acknowledged and a few lowlights were added. However, the broader concerns regarding the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending throughout the rest of my hair were largely dismissed. I was ultimately told the result was "not that bad" and that I might simply need time to adjust to having highlights. That response is ultimately why I did not return for corrective work. Had my concerns been acknowledged, I would have been open to working toward a solution. Instead, I left questioning how the issues could be corrected when they were not being recognized in the first place. The attached wavy-hair photos were taken two weeks later. By that point, the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending were even more noticeable, leaving me embarrassed and self-conscious about my hair. I sought a second opinion from another salon, where the stylist immediately saw the same issues I had raised during my appointment. They explained that significant corrective color work would be required, expressed sympathy for the experience, and were unable to understand how I had left the salon with a result like this. The correction required additional highlights, lowlights, toning, and blending to soften the harsh lines and create a more natural result. Initial service - $300 Corrective service - $462.50 Total spent for an outcome that was not my initial goal - $762.50 Attempts to contact the salon owner through both Instagram and the salon's website gmail received no response.

I am usually an advocate for supporting local businesses, but my experience at the salon was…read moreunimpressive at best. I have been searching for a new salon to get my haircut since moving here and found this place via Yelp with decent reviews. I went to Fantastic Cuts today and received a haircut by presumably the owner since she was the only person at the shop. The haircut was okay, I don't nitpick, which is the reason why I am giving it another star. The thing that boggles my mind is that I was charged an extra $5 for a "complicated haircut" - what?! I have a mohawk and requested to clean it up, I don't understand how that would be defined as complicated. In addition, she knew it was my first time and charged me without explanation until I asked. This penny-pinching tactic have lost a potential regular customer. I don't think a 10 minute haircut should constitute an additional fee - I won't be coming back.
