After going to Path for the first time to get my hair conditioned with a treatment for colored hair, and for a nice blow out. They're the kindest stylists I've ever encountered and trust enough to become a regular guest. They're knowledgeable, products used are high end and not only smell good but last through three days of outdoor work (I build stages). My hair stylist cancelled on me, so the shop gave me an alternative hair stylist "new girl" on my appointment for haircut and color. This "new girl" hair stylist (Jerica) should never be let serve customers. The owner of the shop should have had more rigorous supervision on this girl before she was let serve customers. Jerica showed me Hailey Bieber photo as an example (image attached), which I agreed. But then, color came too bright. She had to redo the color again after my complaint. She then showed her grumpy attitudes and saying, "you have too much hair". For this 7 hour long tiring process (yes, it's true), my hairs now become: * severely bleached and damaged. They are completely dry and will take 6 months of restoration. * now pain in hair roots. * haircut was very amateurish; she needs more experience. * I feel terrible because of all these. There are other good hair stylists in the shop. However, before Jerica was let serving customers, the owner of the shop should have Jerica under supervision of other experienced stylists which is unfortunately missing. I always have a bit of anxiety about getting my hair cut and making small talk, so I was trying to find the "right" salon and hairdresser ever since moving to Austin. It was fairly easy to get an appointment online - you do have to provide a bunch of info and create an account, but this seemed normal for hair salons when trying to schedule an appointment online. The salon is tucked away in a corner behind other businesses and has a small parking lot. The place itself has a pleasant modern aesthetic. I went on a Saturday morning and there was only one other customer while I was there. I got my hair cut by Jayda and her customer service was A plus. She made sure to cut my hair how I wanted and was easy to talk to. My cut was $51 - I have a lot of hair and I got about 2-3 inches cut. You can get $20 off your second visit if you schedule it so I set my next appointment in 3 months! read more

OMG I love this place after just one visit! I had the loveliest hair appointment here! I booked my appointment through Yelp. I had the amazing, talented, charming, and funny hair stylist James. I went in for a hair donation/ coloring. APPOINTMENTS I was able to get an appointment through Yelp the day of. I sent a request around 6am and I came in at 10am. It was really fast and convenient. PARKING There were plenty of spots open when I came in. It's at an awkward angle but it's no problem at all :) COVID I was about 20-30 minutes early. I let them know about my hair appointment, the salon was empty at the time so they said I could wait inside if I wanted or in my car. I decided I wanted to watch Tik Tok soooo I waited in my car hahaha! Everyone wore a mask and sanitized everything really well. I myself wore a disposable mask the entire time. (Coloring stains) I was really proud of how they were handling everything. I felt safe. COLORING I love how my hair came out! I wanted to touch up some gray spots. I went with my natural hair color. I believe James said it was called root shadowing. He did a beautiful job! HAIRCUT After James cut off about 12"- 14" for me to donate, I basically let him decide how to style my hair. I knew I didn't want a "Karen cut" but I also didn't want a bob. He decided to give me a short cut while slimming down the sides so it wouldn't look so puffy. I'm not the expert on the terminology but he gave me the cutest haircut I've ever had! I have been receiving compliments daily since my haircut back on January 26th! (It's now February 10th y'all!) I never thought short hair would look good on me because I have such a round face but James made me look and feel so confident and cute! I'm forever grateful for this new confidence boost. PRICES I got a haircut, root shadowing, shampoo/ conditioning, a blow dry, and he lightly curled/styled my hair. I paid $251.19 which included a $24 shampoo and a generous tip. Ladies, it's worth it. I was trying to figure out a way to reach out that didn't involve sharing with the public, but I had an okay experience here. I just moved (and had my hair last done in April) and wanted a partial balayage touch up. More dimension through lightening. Unfortunately my hair looks pretty bad now. I would consider this highlighted, not balayage, and there is less dimension than before. (So sad because it looked so nice before.) The hair artist was super friendly and I had a good experience while in the chair. I tried to explain what I wanted, never having success with matching photos, but ended up showing a series of saved photos via Pinterest. - it looks nothing like the photos.) They did not let my hair process long enough for sure. IT is SO orange. :( I was a little surprised it only took so long to process, compared to how long my stylist at home waits before toning) but thought it was just because some was lightened already. It was hard to see the results while still at the salon. I just have to wait now, I think, to go somewhere else. Realizing what happened led to a bad start to my Monday morning. Super cute salon with neat old Austin vibes. 60s retro. Joseph was fantastic-- I wanted a clean up on my choppy lob (think Alexa Chung) that wasn't too suburban "soccer mom" but still easy to style. My hair is also Asian texture, fine, and lots of it. Joseph immediately knew how to cut it to get it to hang properly and style it without too much bounce - but enough texture to make it feel lived in. His pricing was also very reasonable in an area where haircuts are becoming quite exorbitant. He's just returned to ATX and is in the process of rebuilding his book of clients. Made an appointment for a bleach and tone. Explained my dark hair, 6 weeks of growth, whole situation on the phone. When I get there the inexperienced stylist Shaylee , with no regard for my time, tells me she has another appointment in two hours and can't fully do my Hair. I told her my hair lifts quick but okay, check the schedule. Spends 10 minutes (she coulda spent mixing some bleach) checking the schedule. Tells me Saturday her next appointment. I don't know where to begin. I scheduled an appointment earlier in the week for a cut and style with Alyssa. I specifically asked for a long styled lob and my hair to be thinned out. Upon arrival I was greeted friendly and quickly taken to the chair where I showed Alyssa a video of what I was asking. Alyssa did a good job on thinning my hair but the cut was not at all what I wanted. My long hair was cut really short, a bit too short for the style I specifically asked for. My hair is back to being short and more one length rather than the lob I had asked for.... My hair was blow dried but it was not styled. I was asked if I liked it and then abruptly told I was done in 40 mins. I wasn't shown the back of hair which was really strange. I felt a little cheated as I booked a cut and style for an hour and should've mentioned wanting some beach waves. But honestly, the cut wasn't anything close to what I asked for and I wanted to dip out at that point. In the end, it's just hair, but it took some time to grow to the length it was at. If the style wasn't possible then I wish the stylist said something or suggested something else. read more

Don't shut me up saying you don't cut like that She scrubs the shit out of my hair during the shampoo. I let it slide. But when we sit down, I ask if she could be gentle. She goes ummm how like when I comb it. In the most condescending manner. Ummm yes jayda when you comb it it anything else. No shit. Awkward silence the whole haircut .... Cool. Nice talkin to ya. Anyways, once she finishes, she starts very roughly picking at my hair. I then ask again if she can be gentler. She gives me a face and says, um this is too rough? While gently touching my hair. So incredibly condescending. So rude. Yes you were too rough like a second ago and you gently touching my hair AFTER I ask doesn't make up for it Then she starts moving really slow. I said gentle not slow but ok. Continues to not say one word to me and has the sourest look on her face. I have no idea what she's doing to my hair. Says nothing about how she is styling it and just proceeds. Cool thanks for asking nothing about how I like my hair. Anyways the appointment ends awkwardly of course and I couldn't run out of there fast enough. She definitely took too much off with the layers all around my head and they don't blend. I was in a HEAVY predicament as I was feeling so much stress- i'm in a wedding in less than week, just come out of being VERY ill in the hospital, photographed four weddings back to back, and unbeknownst to them lost a family member. My life has been a whirl wind of chaos this last month and a half. I had been looking for a place for a WEEK to get my hair done, and Ryan (the owner) not only replied in less than thirty minutes but scheduled me the next day. I live in new braunfels (worth the drive after such a hassle free scheduling) Peyton (hairdresser) then spent SIX hours on my hair. SIX. Did it need it? Absolutely. Was it $$$? YUPP. But the end result is a gorgeous HEALTHY glowing look I haven't gotten from anyone since I moved here In 2017. On the rare chance you do get the wild ride of an all day seat at a salon this rare perspective of watching how they work as well as their atmosphere as a business comes along with it- the one thing I saw more than anything and it was so refreshing- is that they're constantly educating themselves and their interns/workers! Hairdressers are human, they will make mistakes! However i'm confident now that IF any mistakes are ever made at this business they are only reinforced with positive educational opportunities and chances to grow better at their craft! I've been to Path Salon three times now, and every time I get an amazing cut and color. The staff is friendly, and the place has a nice vibe (laid back, a little mid-century modern, a little rock and roll). I had previously gone to Urban Betty a couple times (I moved here over a year ago, and I embarked on the mission to find a new salon and stylist). Honestly, Urban Betty wasn't as friendly, and the the cut and color wasn't any better. It was more than twice the price, so there's that if you just like to set you money on fire in a less friendly envelope. I think Path Salon is where a bunch of incredibly talented stylists work early in their career. There's definitely also some seasoned vets, but I think overall Path Salon gives you a chance to work with amazingly talented professionals before their prices go up. read more

Just wow. I made an appointment with James over a month ago but due to personal reasons I had to cancel the appointment. I received an email reminding me of their 24 hour cancellation policy (you can see the email that says 24 hours) which I had abided by. I then received a voicemail letting me know that if I wanted to reschedule I would have to pay James an additional $117 just to sit in his chair. Since I canceled before the 24 hour deadline I called the salon to see if this was a mistake. After calling, I was told that James' policy is 48 hours and that I would still be required to pay $117. This review is for the management of the path salon as the email reminder should match the policy that I am expected to follow. I should not be penalized for your mistake. read more

I was very happy with my haircut from Brooke and I would 100% recommend her just for the shampoo- she gave me the best head massage I have ever had!! My only complaint is the system they use to pay; it wasn't made clear or explained to me that when you add a tip it's a percent of the total bill so if you just choose the percent you are tipping on any product you buy also. I know as a responsible adult I should have asked the pricing up front but I just wanted to pay without stressing about the price... so it wasn't until the next day that I realized I also tipped on some expensive hair products. read more

Unfortunately, I had a bad highlight job from another salon. With my Asian hair it can go orange real fast and I felt that my highlights were way too light. So, it has been almost a year since I have been to a hair salon due to Covid-19 shuttering many places. As you can expect, my thick, wavy hair grew out bulky and bushy, weighing my head down. I was so tired of it weighing me down, I wanted to chop it all off. After I moved to Austin last month, I made my appointment and was able to enter in Path Salon at my appointed time. I was immediately greeted and pleased with all the new measures for client's and employee's safety- wearing masks, social distancing and cleaning each station is definitely enforced here. I was so happy to be Shaylee's client- after she asked me a lot of questions about my hair and I told her I wanted it short, she kindly offered me her professional advice on how an alternative cut may bring out my curls without my hair weighing me down. She suggested cutting my hair in layers while thinning it out would allow me to have a shoulder-length cut without all the weight. I figured 'Why not?' and let her do her thing. It turned out to be much better than I expected! Everyone always worries about the end result and I was no different, but I was ecstatic to see my curls naturally forming like gentle beach waves after she was done. I am truly thrilled! Shout-out to Shaylee as she is amazing! In short, I would really recommend this place. You do pay some money here (my cut alone was $46) but I would rather pay more and be satisfied with the service. Just moved to Wimberley from the SF Bay Area, and, by the time I found Path and the talented Jayda, I was in need of serious help! I did not spend much time researching Austin stylists, because Path easily stood out among the many highly-reviewed salons in the area, so I was confident I could get a good cut. I booked online with the "first available" option, and I had no idea that I would see Jayda, one of their younger (and very, very affordable) stylists. She's awesome. When I had to reschedule my first appointment, I was fortunate to chat with Jayda on the phone and discuss what had happened since moving. I had been washing my already somewhat damaged and colored hair with well water and noticed a rapid decline in health and color fade. Jayda knew right away that the well water was damaging my hair and advised accordingly. Huge, huge help! After consulting, Jayda booked enough time for a cut and tone, as my hair was getting brassy from the water. When I got to the salon it was hard to look at my hair. It was bad. Fortunately, Jayda is extremely confident, knowledgeable, and honest. Huge asset. She made it very clear what needed to be done and why, made sure to find the right toner, and went to work. In a matter of minutes, she got rid of the damaged hair, reshaped my long layers, toned it to a lovely color, and returned my hair to a healthy state. Miraculous. A week later, I'm still getting used to how great my hair looks! Having come from SF, home to some of the nation's top stylists, I can honestly say that Jayda is a top-notch professional in every way and easily the BEST deal in Austin in terms of quality for cost. She's an absolute gem and truly made me feel and look so much better. I can only imagine where she'll be in 10 years. I'm going in tomorrow, so Jayda can do a touch up to my roots, and I'm confident she's going to do a great job. Highly recommended! read more
