I am usually an advocate for supporting local businesses, but my experience at the salon was unimpressive at best. I have been searching for a new salon to get my haircut since moving here and found this place via Yelp with decent reviews. I went to Fantastic Cuts today and received a haircut by presumably the owner since she was the only person at the shop. The haircut was okay, I don't nitpick, which is the reason why I am giving it another star. The thing that boggles my mind is that I was charged an extra $5 for a "complicated haircut" - what?! I have a mohawk and requested to clean it up, I don't understand how that would be defined as complicated. In addition, she knew it was my first time and charged me without explanation until I asked. This penny-pinching tactic have lost a potential regular customer. I don't think a 10 minute haircut should constitute an additional fee - I won't be coming back. read more

I've been here a few times and had okay experiences. I usually come here when I need a simple trim at a low price. But my last experience was just wtf and I wouldn't be returning. I don't know what's Lee's issue is but she is not approachable nor patient. To start with, I told her what I was looking to do and would like to style it similar to a picture I have saved. She got irritated and short right from the start and said in broken English - no need to look at picture I know what to do. Then I was literally in her seat for 3 mins and the haircut was finished. Quickest haircut ever. She handed me the mirror and I pointed out part of my back was poofing out and she reluctantly 'fixed' it. She could have done a much better job but I took her 'fix' as it made it look slightly better. I then pointed out the back was not lined up properly and she snarked she had already "shaved" (ie. lined up) that area. I was sure she was going to address the unevenness but no, that was the end of the cut. I was so disappointed, I didn't even mention the beard trim I needed. She made it clear she was not someone who gives a shit about customer service or retaining customers so I have no reason to give her any of my money. I drove to another place to get my beard trim. I have been coming here for over 5 years now. I have really long hair and I just get a basic trim, hair-thin, and my bangs cut. I am particular about my bangs and she gets it perfect each time. She has an interesting technique I have never seen before where I stood up and she used men's trimmers to do my trim. My favorite thing about Le is she is straight to the point. I'm an extrovert, however, I do not care for the small chit-chat with my hair stylist. I like that she doesn't hold conversations so I can just chill and relax. Since I come about 3-4xs a year she obviously is very welcoming and friendly since I am a regular and will have small convo here and there depending on her day. I have seen her cut men's hair and she knows what she is doing. Most affordable too! My trim used to be a little over $20, I think it's close to $30 these days can't recall I always tip. I used to go to Le when I lived in Austin. I have curly/wavy/frizzy hair and am pretty picky about how my hair looks. I've move twice since Austin and haven't been able to find someone like Le. I live in California now but was so thankful to stop by today during a quick trip to Austin. It's affordable, quick and the results are consistently phenomenal. There was no line waiting to get a hair cut. So I went here. The hair cutter asked me how short I wanted. I said down to one inch below my ear lobes. She said that is very short. She used a hot iron to straighten out lower part of my hair to get a sense of length. She said that she will cut one inch off my hair length, to which I said no, as I I wanted one inch below ear lobes. She said that is a lot of hair to cut. Looking at her thinking that she doesn't want the job, at that moment I said. it's ok. if you don't want to cut my hair, it's Ok. I can go somewhere else. Don't worry about it. So I got up and left. First time coming here. I just wanted a hair trim and didn't want to pay $50 just to do so. Read the reviews on yelp and decided to give this place a shot. I was able to be serviced right away as no one was in the salon. Lee was very nice, I told her I wanted to cut an inch but she suggested I did 2" because my hair was long and it would be better for my dead ends. I agreed to it -- I personally think she cut off a bit more than 2" but I don't care just because my hair feels so soft. She didn't wash my hair, she used a straightener to straighten my hair and then cut it after. My original length was right below my chest, and aftermath was right above my chest. Total it was $30 (not including tip) -- I would come here again. read more

I just got a haircut today after not cutting my hair for over a year. I wanted to keep it as long as possible but Le told me my hair was too damaged. I agreed to cutting off what was necessary but now it's too short and I didn't get the haircut I originally wanted and have gotten before plenty of times. She is the professional so I guess my hair was too far gone even though I don't apply heat to it and I almost always have it in a bun. That was until I came here and she straightened my hair WITHOUT HEAT PROTECTANT as she was cutting my hair. She had it on so high I could see the smoke coming out and now my hair smells burnt. I probably should've brushed my long hair before going in because she was a little aggressive with it pulling it apart with her hands because it was somewhat tangled. Nonetheless, its "healthy" now but it's too short because she cut off about 5 inches of hair. I didn't get the curtain bangs I asked for only on one side so perhaps I should've been more clearer on that one. I didn't want her cutting more hair so I just paid and left.$50 hair cut plus I still left her a tip because at the end of the day it's still a decent haircut and I will start using rosemary oil to help grow it back faster and healthier. read more

They were criticizing a CHILD & telling her she looks like she's never brushed her hair before. Saying she shouldn't have long hair. Making her visibly cry. I'm usually one to go to high end salons thinking I'm going to pay a hefty chunk but I really needed to get in ASAP. So I searched around for anything open on a Monday that was also reasonably priced with good reviews. I came upon this strip mall on Wells Branch and decided, why not...so I called first thing in the AM and got in within the hour. The owner, Ms. Le did not disappoint! I told her i wanted at least 6" taken off and to do anything to make my butt long hair manageable. I was impressed that she sectioned my hair and started straightening it before dry cutting it! I love a dry cut! The best part...it cost me $30 and 25 minutes! Point of this review, don't judge a book by its cover. She's unprofessional and has horrible customer service skills! I called to make an appointment, she told me to come in on Saturday at 4pm and didn't take down my name and number. I thought that was strange. I showed up a couple minutes before 4pm and she was in the back. Another customer was in the chair waiting. I signed in and waited around 5 minutes, until she came out with color for the customer in the chair. I let her know I was there for my appointment and she looked confused. When she remembered we spoke on the phone, she then immediately got upset at me saying when you have a work shift you show up several minutes early. I told her I came in a couple minutes early and you did not tell me to come in several minutes early. She then said so many people make appointments and don't show up and angrily said you have to wait! She turned around and went straight to her customer. I asked so this is not going to work out? She ignored me so I walked out. She didn't want to admit she accepted a walk in before my appointment and with her reaction, she didn't schedule me in. I attempted to give her a try because my friend referred her. In the end, I'm thankful she was rude because I ended up at a great salon with respectful owners. read more

My son has been coming to Le for the past couple of years and she is truly fantastic.

I went in for a cut, I asked for 1-2 inches off. she ended up cutting at least 3 inches off everywhere, and then gave me these really weirdly cut layers that are about chin length, when the rest of my hair is shoulder length. for reference, my hair was easily past my chest, so she cut a LOT. i even asked her to stop cutting because it was too short and she literally told me no. what??? We moved to town 3 months ago and I was due for a cut when we arrived...just have not had the time to schedule one more appointment and my mane was completely out of control! I also wanted to go back to an old style so this was certainly more than a trim... I was desperate for a cut today (Sunday) so I read some reviews and walked-in without an appointment. I received a friendly greeting on arrival and I was in the chair 5 minutes later. This is not a "luxurious" experience, she did not shampoo and there was no extra "fluff" in terms of decor...but I'm a low maintenance girl and I ha other places to be. The place is clean, quiet, and relaxed...It was great for me! She cut my hair exactly as I asked, down to the razoring/thinning I'm used to. She was very thorough and careful, checked the length with me a couple of times, but was speedy and obviously skilled. I was in and out in 30 minutes and I feel I got a very quality cut for $25! There are no longer barbers in the Wells Branch area and I refuse to get at $25 haircut at a salon. When Fantastic Cuts opened a couple years back I found Le, a female stylist that seems to always be there. Does this woman ever take off? She does a mean high and tight, as good as any barber. I go see her at least every two weeks. Every tenth hair cut is free and I get out of there for less than $20 with a nice tip. read more

So I was looking around for a good and affordable salon to style my long, thin and boring hair when I chanced upon fantastic cuts. The raving reviews got me interested and I chose to go there instead of a chain like super cuts or great clips... Le (I think she is the owner) worked with my hair. I called ahead to make an appointment just in case, but they do accept walk in's. I had done some research online and picked a style I liked. Le advised me against that style and picked out one that would be good for me. And true enough, she has done an amazing job. I'm very satisfied! She was very meticulous and clearly takes pride in her work. Took total of 40 mins to go from hip length to a Bob. I'd recommend her to anyone. I think I have found my hair dresser! Being new to the area, I came across this place thanks to my fellow yelpers. I believe I was helped by the asian lady that owns the place and she cut my hair exactly how I liked it. Shampoo and cut was like $16. I gave her $20. Overall I like it. It's a little mom and pop type shop that's reasonably priced. Tip: there's some print on the windows that say something about $9.99 haircuts on Tuesday. I don't think that's enough to influence my decision of when i'll come in, but it might be for somebody reading this. read more

Fantastic cuts has become my go-to. I'm a man with straight hair and my haircuts are fairly straight forward. Li is the one I see here and she cuts my hair perfectly every time. Prices are very cheap and the quality is better than I have gotten at some far more expensive places. I brought a picture of the haircut I wanted the first time I came. Li looked at it for a few seconds then cut my hair to look just like it in maybe 10 minutes. I was extremely satisfied. This place is a gem out here in p-vill! Li is also always sweet and kind, I always have a lovely experience. Then after your haircut you can have a brown butter blondie at the bakery next door. Went here because it was open on Sunday and welcomed walk-ins. I showed the stylist what I wanted and naturally, it wasn't what I got. I did hate my hair but after a couple of weeks I've grown to like it. Disappointed that it wasn't specifically what I wanted but at least it wasn't a bad cut.
