Do not come here and expect transparency. These people will up charge you without your knowledge and act like it's "mandatory" when it's not. I've been getting my nails done for years, salons & personal techs, and never experienced a "mandatory" powder for nails when there's thousands of shades to choose from to accomplish a certain look. Hello everyone, I hope you guys take the time to read this and steer clear of Modern Nails. I've been coming here to Modern Nails since I was 15 years old. I'm now 22 years old, that's 6 years of my life I spent dedicated to this salon. Though they may have not been the BEST salon, it was convenient and got the job done. Over the past 2 years I've notice that my Mani/Pedi has gone from $60 to $80 to $120+. I always get a full set short almond mani and a regular polish pedi with the addition of the upgraded service for callus removal and scrub. It's extremely disappointing that this salon has watched me mature and grow up, get married (y'all did my wedding nails), and now have my first child. I watched y'all as a salon come from the bottom UP. The last and final time I came there this was my experience: I came in wanting my usually full set, short almond shaped, French tip acrylics. I asked the nail tech to cut it a little shorter for my liking and I was told it's going to cost extra?? Want to know their reasoning? Because I'm wasting their cheap ass plastic glue ons? ANYWAYS! They tried to charge me extra for a NUDE base and EXTRA ON TOP of the French tip design because it was on EACH NAIL.... yAH I definitely just wanting one finger painted with a French tip... I paid $160 that day for BULLCRAP oh and my nails started peeling back and falling less than 24 hours later. Y'all are some scammers. read more

I must start by saying I was a customer of Modern Nails when Sally was the mgr before Tina. I have always enjoyed E and her mom Ms. Kim but lately I have experienced my appt time is not being adhered to and the prices are going up. I spent 85 on a fill-in and pedicure and I'm still not sure how that happened bc my previous appt was 71. I asked E if the prices went up she responded no, same price...umm no it wasn't. I get the same basic stuff everytime. I have noticed the prices have been taken down and Ms. Kim no longer show the pedicure prices. I think I am being bamboozled. I have left them a couple times over the yrs, found a new tech who I loved to death but after covid he didn't return. I've been coming here for almost 2yrs now. 2wks ago I decided to stray and see what that "fancy" place Polished (very nice space but the quality of my pedicure sucked) was all about and with my end results, I missed Modern nails terribly and wished I'd stuck with old faithful. Hou (sp?) usually does my pedicure and each time it's great! She pays attention to detail and takes extra care of my feet...no dead skin and extra soft! The only reason they deserve 2 stars is because they can actually do pedicures. I had the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE at this place and I'll most likely never come back. The lady who did my set was in such a rush and kept hurting my nails. After shaping my nails, I told her my thumb nail was slanted. She never fixed it. I then showed her a design and I made sure she could do it. She said yes... no she didn't. She rushed through the design and it wasn't good. I then asked her to just do a basic French so she took of the previous color.. but she was in such a rush she left some green residue and tried to just cover it up with the white. (You can still see it). The next part is worse. The lady embarrassed me in front of the whole salon. I met her at front and I payed what she asked me to pay in cash (I still have her a tip after all that). As I went to give the lady that did my toes a tip, the other nail lady starts yelling and chasing me down as if I WILLINGLY didn't pay for something else. It was so embarrassing!!!! When she gets to me she's all frantic about how I didn't pay something. It's not my fault SHE FORGOT TO CHARGE ME. Even after all that, I obviously payed and they never said sorry. read more

I called ahead to make an appointment Monday morning when they opened - I was immediately seated with Susan. I was very disappointed in my last acrylic FS from a popular salon in buckhead so I made the drive out to get a full set (with abstract designs on four nails) When I asked Susan if she could do it, she said they didn't have the machines to do anything that intricate, but she color matched me perfectly to the base color I wanted. I had another design I was thinking of and decided to go with that. Susan took her time on shaping my nails - up to 45 minutes on shaping and showing me the difference between how square/almond would look on my nails. I decided to go with rounded nails and she spent a lot of time carefully filing and buffing nails. There was no cuticle care/snipping off dead skin but I should have brought it up. She did a few coats of the base layer and then did the minimalist designs that was my secondary plan. I thought the nails were pretty thick, as is expected with gel but I've noticed that sometimes (if not done correctly) they snap off as soon as two weeks later. The initial result looked great for the price and I was happy with my results. Would suggest for casual nails but I don't know if I would go for more elaborate nail art. read more

Terrible service...I am not picky or unreasonable. Came for a manicure & pedicure. Older Asian lady did my nails...when it was time to paint my manicure the polish looked terrible and clumpy. I asked politely that maybe the polish was old and if she could please take and redo with another polish before she even started in my other hand. She appeared irritated and told me to go choose another color. She had already painted my feet which were ok so I assumed it was definitely the populist to blame. I asked if she could please choose another color similar to my polish on my pedicure. She flat out refused to help me and told me to pick any color myself. I was so upset and feel this was terrible customer service...the manger never intervened or made the situation better. I left with my manicure incomplete not even clear coat looking like crap! This is my mom's favorite nail salon, so I thought I would try it out. I now been twice for manicures and will not be back. The first time, I got a French gel manicure, and when I got home, I notice the white tips were full of tiny bubbles (or maybe grains of sand?). Although the manicure did last pretty well for two full weeks, I couldn't get over the bubbles, and the more I looked at the nails, the more I realized that the shape of the white was inconsistent, nail-to-nail. When I returned to remove the French and get a new manicure, I decided to go with a solid color. First, removing the polish was awful. The manicurist didn't buff away enough of the clear coat or let the acetone-soaked cotton rest on my nails long enough. She ended up mostly scraping the polish off. Then, she didn't seem to understand what I was asking for when I told her I wanted my nails shortened. They had been growing for several weeks at that time (most were already a decent length when I got the French) and were crazy long. I told her before I sat down, immediately after sitting down...I even held my shortest nail up, pointed at it, and said I'd like them all about that length. Despite this, I had to pull my hand away when she was clearly about to start painting them without doing any shaping or trimming, after the polish was removed. She did shorten them, but the shape is sort of an indistinct blend between round and square, and despite the fact that they were all very long and could have easily ended up identical lengths, every nail is a different length from it's corresponding nail on the other hand. And of course, there was one tiny bubble/grain of sand at the tip of my pointer finger nail. I will not be returning to this salon. There are simply too many other choices where I can get a good manicure without having to stress about it. read more

This place did not meet my expectations...not even a little bit. I left there looking like I did my own damn nails. I asked for a french using 2 different colors instead of the typical french... I get my french's done this way all the time. In fact... I still had my purple tips on a silver base when I went in there so I was surprised when the gal did my first nail wrong. Then she figured out what I meant and it was all down hill from there. I asked for a pink base and orange tips. They used the orange nail art glue but it was a hot mess. I wish I had taken a photo of it prior to making them take it off...twice. First, I would like to say, this place does good work. Now, the catch is actually getting lucky enough to get the work done. I tried this place some months ago as I purchased a home near the location. I went in with my daughter and waited..and waited...and waited..and WAITED!! Had my daughter not had a formal to attend I would've left. Finally we were services(nearly 3 hours later) and were pleased with the outcome. I vowed to NEVER return. My nail tech moved out of state and I found myself searching for another one, again. My daughter suggested giving this place another try. Reluctantly, I agreed to give them a chance. The posted business hours are until 8pm weekly. We arrived at 7:20p(the soonest I could get there after work) to locked doors. The lady that answered said(and I quote) "I know the hours are until 8 but we tired and can't take no mo. We need to leave on time" I could not believe it! We will NEVER visit here again! Ever!! This was the first place I went to get my nails done for the first time when I was 14 I am now 20. I use to love it when I was younger but now I realize they don't do a good job as they use to. Every nail looks different when it comes to the shape, they don't know how to do designs outside of flowers I use to draw when I was in grade school & they are very sloppy and they rush!!! I hate it!!!!! My lady left my thumb so ugly cause she had to go pick up her son, i understand but next time ask someone else to finish instead of doing a horrible job! The techs are sweethearts but their skills are outdated. I've been coming here for almost two years now because they are close to my employer. However, whenever I ask for designs or a modern nail shape I run into problems. The customer service level is great. They will do their best to take care of you but its but so much that they can do. They have limited polishes. No Essie, barely any OPI. I often have to bring my own polish. Its time to move on. I'll miss them. read more
