I've been going to Natalie for years now and recommend her to everyone I know. She truely cares about her customers and their hair and never tries to upsell unnecessary services/products. Whatever she has recommended to me, it has always been out of necessity to keep my hair healthy from all the abuse I've given it. Her prices are more than reasonable and her customer service is first-class! read more

Jazmin did an amazing job with my daughter's hair! My husband took my daughter in last minute to get her hair dyed and cut before going back to school after winter break. She had been asking to do something crazy and we finally gave in. She walked them through the process and got started within 30 minutes of us calling. Her hair looks so cute! We all love it. It's hard to tell in the picture but the color is so vibrant, especially in the sunlight! read more

No stars !!!! I DO NOT recommend ! Karrah. Hacked my hair ! I wish i would have gotten up out of her chair and saved my hair. I went in for a trim ! To even out my hair. She cut my hair la-de-da no concern for my length. Dull scissors in hand with poor technique. My layers are so choppy. I hate it !!!! My hair is wavy. I stated that i always blow dry it straight and then straighten it. She didnt style it for me so i could see the true end result. Never gave me a mirror to look at the back. SUPERCUTS WOULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB !!!!! read more

Normally I don't review any places I visit because I'd rather have people experience themselves, but I can tell you that their are only a few people who'd I let touch my hair. At modern cuts, Natalie does a fantastic job styling my hair. She has a great eye on how to style it and gives great suggestions on improving the look. She has great control with the clippers and gives the perfect fade. The customer service you receive at modern cuts makes customers want to come back because the family vibe it radiates. I'm from Stockton, but get a haircut in modesto which should suffice on what I think about this place. read more

I used to salon hop for haircuts all the time, but that's changed now. Karrah has been cutting my hair for a good year now, and she is amazing. I'm the type to switch up hair styles every now and then, and she hits it top notch every time! Plus, all of the stylists are super nice and fun to be around!! read more

I brought my daughter in on a random day for a quick cut. They were very nice, friendly, and took us in right away. I was very pleased with the young lady who cut my daughter's hair. We were turned away from about 4 other salon because my daughter had a hair weave and they all stated that it's too much of a liability for them to cut weave / extension. I didn't get that but whatever. I kinda felt like the other places didn't want to cut her hair because we happen to have black girl magic. This place was awesome. Wish I remembered the lady who did the cut . She was very professional and nice. I would give them 10 stars if I could! Thank you. read more

Amazing, talented and highly skilled stylist - Stacy - hands down aims to give you the cut, color, and style you want. She genuinely cares for how you feel leaving her chair - I have naturally curly hair and she cut the layers to give the volume I was looking for, and so beautiful when straightened too! Got the highlights and color evenly all over and kept hair health in mind at all times. She is amazing - the GREATS are hard to find - she's a keeper! read more

I came in with what someone else had started, I was really nervous coming in with no word if mouth referral, but hey, I'm new to the area and I need to puck someone right? I got Natalie and she got me, she clearly understood my vision by verbal description. She stuck with all my suggestions to go a little more here and there patiently until the vision was met. Great job Natalie ! read more

I've had two different people and both did a really good job and I'm pretty picky with who I let do fades and tapers on me, one was a little different from what I asked but looked good still. I'd trust them with my regular cuts when I'm in that area. read more

Tracy did a great job cutting my hair a few weeks ago! She gave me straight bangs, framed my face around the sides, and cut beautifully blended layers. I'm a bit picky about my hair and she was very patient with me and did EXACTLY what I asked for. I was very pleased and got lots of compliments on the cut! I will definitely be going back to her. read more

I moved back here after 14 years in the Bay Area. I have bounced around to different talented hairdressers in the area, but have settled on Michelle. She does a great job with my hair. read more

Michelle cut my hair. It was perfectly ideal and up to my standards for a hair cut at any price. Great conversation lots of laugh and fun. Easy going employees. All seem older and experienced. 15$ read more

Came back to get my son's hair cut fix. Better hair cut now... Kara takes her time and I'm glad that I came back to get my son's hair fix...

This was my first time here, and Stacy was very friendly and did a great job. I'll definitely be back if my usual barber I'm accustomed to is out of town. Thanks again Stacy! read more

A woman named natalie put extensions in my hair and everything was fine and well until I tried messaging her when a few fell out because she told me if they did to call or text her and she would put them back in. After weeks of ignoring my calls and texts I called the salon and they said they could talk to her and I still haven't heard anything so I call back and they said they can have someone else remove them for me but they would charge me even after the woman named Natalie said she would for free now I have over 2 month old extensions that idk what to do with or how to remove because I don't understand why i would have to pay when she is the one who messed up. And is now wasting her coworkers as well as my own time. Very disappointed DO NOT go to this shop. I finally called the shop and she answered and she was EXTREMELY RUDE she told me she isn't obligated to do anything she doesn't want and she doesn't want too even though she said with her own mouth she would for free and now is saying she had to block me because her fiancé was upset I texted her at a late hour and she knew the whole time I was trying to search for help and still didn't message me anything a woman named jasmine was a big help and took time out of her day to help me even though she was not required too. I don't even know how this lady Natalie has a jobshe lacks basic common sense as well as customer service. read more

Wouldn't come here again. After waiting an hour I got told to come the next day because they didn't have time to give me a haircut.

If I could leave negative stars, I would. This is the second time my husband has attempted to have my sons hair cut there and had to bring him back because it was AWFUL. This time however, the cut was so bad that she couldn't even fix what she'd done to him and tot op it all off she was full of attitude. My husband showed her a photo and everything (that was actually of our son and the cut he had and just wanted to maintain) and yet, she screwed it up so badly it can not be fixed and will have to be shaved. These girls have no clue what they are doing. If you luck out and get a good stylist there, I guarantee you she won't be there next time because the decent ones move on.....just like we will. read more

Went to see Stacy at Modern Cuts and got one of the best tapers you could ask for. I highly recommend going to see her! Very professional and keeps your concerns her top priority. Be sure you ask for her when you going. read more

Great color and cut by Tracy who did mine and Stacey who did my son! Thank you for the same day service and great experience.

I went to this place to get a haircut and to try To fix up a tone issue. I had done my hair at home with a box dye but it was more brassy than I would Have liked so I asked to have my brassiness toned down along with my haircut. Well, the haircut was good, but somehow, my hair ended up more orange than before. I'm a blonde and in previous salons, my toner was like a purple color but this person chose a beige color.i was suspicious but didn't say anything because I figured my stylist was the expert. She apparently had no grasp on color because my hair ended up way more orange than before. Mistakes happen and I'm cool with that, but rather than try to fix this, my stylist named random suspicions for why my hair would react to this toner in this way and she never apologized for doing exactly the opposite of what I wanted with my hair. I bluntly told her that my hair was actually more orange than before but she still charged me for the toner (which only made my hair worse than before.) personally, if I totally screwed up someone's hair I would apologize and not charge them for my poor and counter-productive work but this person dismissed me, charged me for her poor toner choices, and left me hanging. Well, sorry lady- if you screw someone over, people will find out. If you expect someone who is competent in color, do not come here. read more

Very happy with my hair. I had the pleasure of having Stacy do my color. Not only is she very knowledgeable in what she does, she has such a pleasant demeanor. All the girls in the salon are very nice. Its a pleasant environment. read more

Thank you so much Tracy for doing such a great job on my daughters haircut. You ROCK!! This was her 1st time at Modern Cuts and we are both very pleased in the customer service over the phone and in person. She has been wanting a haircut for a while, but we were hesitate. We have been disappointed of other salons in the past. Thanks again we found our new hair salon. :) read more

Amanda gives the most amazing cuts. I've been going to the same barber for the past 12 years and have been searching for the past couple to find a new one who can cut my hair perfectly. I have FINALLY found one!! She pays great attention to fades and cut my hair to my exact liking. I'd give her 10 stars if I could. read more

I loved this place! I went early in the morning and got immediately helped by Heather. She was wonderful, not to mention the awesome haircut she gave me! She took the time to communicate with me and really made me feel welcome. It was also my very first time into this place. I hadn't been to a hairstylist in so long and she fixed my hair right up! Quick and easy! The prices here are good too! All in all, I felt very welcomed and left VERY happy with my haircut. Heather will definitely be seeing me again! I highly recommend this place to everyone!! read more

Thank you Natalie for making me look fabulous I guess because you got it like that because you're that G.I.R.L

Left really disappointed in this place as yelp had said good ratings. Yet, I came here and asked for 1/2 inch trim and the lady chopped off more than I asked for. Not only that but she never showed me the back when it was done. Definitely don't recommend this place and NEVER COMING HERE Again. What she did are not layers, they are way off and do not blend in. read more

When I moved to Modesto, I hated every barber that I went to because they never gave me the right fade cut that I need. My coworker referred me to Stacy, and I thought I minus well give it a shot since no one else was doing my cut right. I went into the shop by appointment with Stacy, and she did not disappoint! Got the fade I needed, and I finally found someone that I can go to, to get my hair cut here in Modesto. Thank you Stacy!! :) read more

Very impressed. Michelle did a great cut for my long thick hair and fast! $20 for cut and blow out.I will be returning.

Double zero fade by Stacy always makes me feel like a million bucks!!! I have been getting both my son's & my hair cut by Stacy for over a year now & she always takes the time to make sure she provides the best cut possible without rushing through it. She is very conscientious about the quality of work she provides to her clients. Stacy is a kind, gentle, & honest professional that always has her clients best interests as a top priority. I am very thankful to have found her. read more

Went to natalie and got a really good hair cut at a good price!!! Highly recommend

I got my cut and color by Natalie like two weeks ago and she did a great job! I love my darker hair. I told her to cut only the split ends off my hair and she did it how I wanted exactly. Last place I went to cut my layers hella short and uneven but she fixed it from looking ratchet lol. I lived in modesto for like ten years and tried so many places I will definitely be back! They have a large selections of hair products too :) read more

I want to give a HUGE thank you to Amanda! I walked in without an appointment today about 12:30pm. I was greeted by Amanda, I signed in and had a seat to wait my turn. I only had to wait a short amount of time, and before I knew it, I was in her chair, trusting her with my look. My hair was down to the middle of my back, and for me, it was time for a change. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and we were off. She washed my hair with a shampoo and conditioner that smelled amazing. She took her time to cut my hair into the shape I was wishing for. Then she used the blow dryer and a round brush to shape my hair into something amazing! We went from hair down to the middle of my back, to just above my shoulders! I absolutly love what she was able to do with my hair, and I will be coming back to Modern Cuts from now on! Also, anyone and everyone who asks, will be pointed in that direction!! read more
