Last night I had a chance to visit Moda Cafe and restaurant for dinner. It's located a little west of highway 50 (Lee Jackson highway) and 28 intersection. There are about half a dozen other businesses in the same complex, all share the same parking lot. We reached there at around 7 PM and found parking a little away from the restaurant. The place was pretty busy and we had to wait at the front door for about 7 minutes before the server got us seated. As soon as you enter the place, you find yourself in an upscale eatery with seating arrangements in a variety of styles. The place is decorated in modern Middle Eastern style appealing to your eyes. The cafe showcasing various pastries is located on the left hand side of the restaurant for people to walk to and place an order. If you are there for a dining experience, you will have to wait for seating. We were a party of five and were given seats in the right hand corner. We ordered the Trio burgers (3 mini burgers) for the kids which comes with a small basket of fries. Although we added another order of fries but realized that one order was enough for three kids once we received the food. We also ordered their Anatolian meat sampler, which has a variety of chicken, lamb and beef kabobs and chops variety. The burgers came out early and the meat platter was served a little bit later. I was delighted by the nice arrangement of the food but wanted to put it for taste test before giving out my final verdict. I must say, it's one of the best kabobs I've tasted in a long time. The chicken was not charred, yet cooked to perfection all the way inside. So were the lamb and beef kabobs. It had a tomato and a white sauce, that was made fresh and added the flavor to perfection. Overall I was very impressed by the place, its ambiance, their service, the appearance of the food, the quality of the food and its taste. I usually keep my 5 stars for the very best places but am inclined to give it away for this place. I think it's a great addition to the Virginia culinary scene. This place was recommended by a coworker and would like me review it for him and his family to have some cakes and other desserts. It was a pretty place , but a bit disappointed with the "Sujuk Omelette " it was kinda bland . Turkish espresso was great and strong with 3 pieces of small chocolates to reduce the coffee bitterness. The baklavas is what I'm after even if the cost are quite expensive due to tariff . I'll be back to try their lunch offerings. They are selling the Dubai chocolate but didn't bother to buy one. read more

Really beautifully decorated interior with plenty of seating. I got the strawberry cream and it was good, but I guess I expected more for the price it was. Downside is the service...some of the waiters kind of just loiter around and the other half look like they don't even want to be there, especially the hostess. I would go back to try the food, but the service makes it at the bottom of my priorities to try. Two times I went to this place, I hear people talk about how luxurious the environment feels--and while the ambiance is nice, the service has consistently been disappointing. During my most recent visit, I received the wrong order. The server acknowledged the mistake and told me, "This one's on me; I'll bring your correct order right away." Unfortunately, he never followed through. On top of that, the utensils had a strange, unpleasant smell, which was off-putting. The service overall was chaotic and poorly timed. They brought our meals one by one, with a 15-minute gap between each dish. If the food isn't ready for the whole table, it would be better to wait and bring everything together. The prices are excessive--especially for simple items like soda and tea. For comparison, at the Turkish place at Manassas my craving has the best ! the tea is complimentary. I've also noticed a troubling lack of professionalism from the staff. I have yet to encounter a team member who is genuinely respectful, responsible, or attentive. Instead, I've experienced arrogance and a lack of accountability. My server even tried to pressure me into ordering what he thought was best for me, despite us being a group of four with different preferences. I came to enjoy a meal and spend my money on what I want--not be told what to eat. Worst of all, after I paid and left a tip, the server completely ignored his earlier promise to pack the item I had originally come for. He acted dismissively and seemed to forget all about it once the bill was settled. This was an incredibly frustrating experience, and I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

Excellent, overwhelming variety for dessert! Ordered the full Branzino which came with salad and mashed potatoes. Everything was well presented and tasted great! Got the Tres Leches for deserts to top-off a great meal. Also tried the beef liver as appetizer. Only request to provide fresh bread at the beginning - our was a little stale. Seriously the service is some of the worst I have ever seen, you practically need a flare gun to flag a waiter to take your order, and the servers need to be pressed for you to get basics like silverware, water, and napkins. The servers seem completely overwhelmed and tables sit empty / uncleaned while there is a huge line outside. Getting the bad stuff out of the way, the food is amazing. Very authentic and fresh. Basically every item is great especially the kabobs. Have been here multiple times for both breakfast and afternoon tea. It's a really nice vibe, reminiscent of coffee shops in Turkey and other middle eastern countries. Great pot of tea and if you love pistachios, there is no better place to indulge in every type of baklava and other pistachio delicacies. Full Turkish breakfast is a feast and the entrees look delicious but I have not yet sampled. Service can be a bit slow but always friendly and so gracious! read more

This wouldve been fine if they told us it would take this long. Eventually we asked for a refund and even that took a long time. We had to wait for the manager who didnt even acknowledge us. My wife and I just had a stellar experience here. Its a beautiful place with a casual clientele, friendly staff (happy to accommodate us newbies), and the food was incredible. The wait wasn't bad at the moment, but we sat down asked for water and waited and waited, I swear 20min passed and the waitress was serving everyone else and giving waters to all other tables and totally forgot to give us waters. We were just there watching her and waiting and waiting. Once she came the second time then she brought waters. After that, she brought our food and that's it. Never came to check on us or refill our waters, we were literally just staring at her AGAIN waiting for her to acknowledge us. At that point we were furious and wanted to leave and just wanted the check, we STILL waited and waited. Once she came all she said was "Oh sorry I been busy" like that's my problem. This place is just awful and deserves 0 stars. The service was disorganized and the waiter was rude, wouldn't even explain items on the menu that weren't in English, and inattentive. No refilling our drinks and rude responses to any question we asked. They forgot to bring us half our order then got irritated when we tried to make sure we weren't charged for missing items. The food was a rip off price wise. Way better places in this area, don't waste your time, $ here even if it looks pretty or appetizing in pics. So let's get started! For the beginners you don't allow your staff to walk around with their hair down and playing with their hair while serving people's food. Also, when approaching customers try to be professional and not flirty-wrong place to flirt! And not describing the platters and pushing to buy more expensive platter that would put a smile on your face as waiter-wrong! Another and most important thing, if you should, train your staff do it when we the customers are not around. The supervising guy -or it sims he was giving orders, was talking to girls to the level their mood went from 3 to -10 and then one of the girls had to look at her self in a mirror and smile to herself to lift her mood up- not a good glimpse for us the customers to catch while trying to enjoy our meal. If you must, offer your staff their own size of uniform instead having them wear oversized T-shirts which are wrinkled and make their chest on display and order under shirts bare. Long story short-hire a skilled manager who could turn things around before it goes down hill. Next, serving bread that was baked three days ago is wrong on sooo many levels! Simit was warmed in microwave and turned into complete wood in moments it got to our table. The hard boiled egg were from the fridge as it was sweating on our table just as any eggs from fridge do when reach the room temperature from cold. Ambience, we could tell the owner didn't spare money on it but it is too much. We waited 30 minutes to get our check. I had to go up to the hostess who was not friendly and didn't look like she wanted to be there, how do we pay cause we've been sitting there for so long and she said your server will be with you... had to ask her again to grab our server after 5 minutes. They then grab a different server to check us out. I got the spaghetti bolognese and it looked sloppy and the portion was so small for $18.
