We gave them four chances. The first time I ordered a salad with roasted garlic. The garlic was burned black to the point that I thought the first one was a Kalamata olive. The second time I ordered a pizza and the bottom of it was burnt black. The next time we went in person and I showed them a picture of the burnt pizza, and asked them to be sure not to burn this one. They didn't burn that one, but they did put the wrong sausage on it. The manager suggested that it was my fault because I should've known the person who made the pizza in front of me was using the wrong sausage. Nevertheless, she grudgingly replaced it. This place is great. The service and the food is always a 10. The place is always clean as well. We love to come here with the grandkids because they can make there own style pizza by choosing there toppings and sauce. They love it. It's a great place to accommodate the little ones and adults with indoor and patio seating as well. Oh and they have some pretty good beer on tap as well. I recommend this place for sure. I've never picked a style pizza off there Menu so I can't tell you which one is best. I always create my own which I love as well because I'm funky on flavor and love to create new ones every time. This experience happened April 4, 2018: The food was excellent, as usual. However, the scowling service we received from the manager (Andre; see photo) was terrible. We were looking forward to redeeming our free mod pizza or salad because we had a punch card with four stamps and ordered three mod items today. Per the card (AND what this same manager told us during a previous visit), after six stamps, the seventh mod item is free (see photo). Also per the card, the free mod item can be redeemed immediately (see photo). So we expected to get the third item free today. The manager charged us for all three items and stamped the card three times, including over the logo that indicates the free item (see photo). We paid and then my husband asked the manager why we weren't offered the free item, and Andre responded (no joke, these were his exact words), "We don't do that here. It's good for the next visit." That is bogus because the card states after SIX purchases, the SEVENTH is free, AND that the free item can be redeemed immediately (umm...see photo). My husband asked for extra cheese, and Andre barked at us that it was non-dairy. We were too stunned to respond, and shouldn't he have instead calmly and respectfully answered, "Sure. Let me finish this and I'll handle it. Extra cheese will be an extra $____ or ____¢, is that okay?" to which we would have graciously accepted and paid. Oh, and we're also excellent tippers, but not today. [Andre...try the veal.] I emailed the company, explained what happened, provided the photos, and requested a refund for the additional item that should have been a freebie. I received a phone call within hours. We played phone tag but I gave up on that. I won't be appropriating valuable time pursuing a measly $9 refund, or coupons, or whatever, because we aren't going back there anyway. Yes, of COURSE I would rather utilize precious minutes writing this rambling Yelp review...duh. My complaint is regarding how we were treated during our visit (illegal treatment, by the by...companies must follow their own written policies; Mod Pizza did not do this), not the money we spent. The manager (Andre) singled us out with his rude and unprofessional behavior. I observed his treatment toward other customers while we ate, and his behavior was delightful and helpful. I don't get it. First world problems, I know. : \ Back to that other nearby pizza/salad place that I won't name (but it rhymes with Moppers). I tend to load my pizzas up with many toppings and this place makes it easy, and gives me plenty of options. The price is right and the employees are always upbeat and professional. My wife and I shared a salad on our last visit and were pleasantly surprised t how good it was! I won't hesitate to go back, if only for a salad. The restaurant is well kept and clean, noise level is reasonable, and seating is comfortable for a pizza place. One of our families go to's for inexpensive pizza. read more

I ate at one of these in NoHo and LOVED it, so I was delighted when I saw they were opening in Simi. Opening day here and everything is great. The photo booth was doing free photos for opening day, which my kid got a kick out of. The staff is well trained and the line moves fast. Even faster than I was ready for. It's pretty much the same as the one in NoHo, except I noticed that one had natural agave sodas and this one has traditional sodas. They do have Woodchuck bottled cider, which I love though. The lemonades and teas look natural and fresh, but I didn't try them. Had a cream soda instead. Two MOD size pizzas is enough for my family, two adults and two small kids. The mini size is perfect for just me. Out of all the assembly line style pizza places around, I like the crust here the best. I love the atmosphere and the local flair. There is a photo of Happy Face hill in the bathroom. A few suggestions for improvement: Get a local cider on tap, like 101 cider or something. Get TVs. I can't tell you how many times they have promised a pie, and have simply not shown up, been unavailable to deliver (after entering your whole order into the website or app), or gotten it here cold. If their excellent pizza cannot get into my mouth, it defeats the whole purpose. Pizza is not difficult, and MOD does an incredible job with ingredients, etc. They shouldn't let their "delivery partner", DoorDash, ruin it for them. It gives them an undeservedly poor reputation. It kind of reminds me of Pitfire Pizza, but it's less expensive, and the line moves much more quickly. Had a craving for Mod Pizza and when we got there at 8:05 on a Friday night (8/10/18) they were closed. We tried the doors a couple of times and they were locked. The workers inside looked like they were cleaning up for the night and would not acknowledge us as to why they were closed, when their sign clearly states they are open till 11pm on Fridays. I think MOD has won the Simi race in terms of build your own pizza. They are both the newest, and in my book the best, BYOP in Simi. I like that they have a lot of pre made options to choose from, or you can just do the classic create your own. The process is fast and the options are plentiful. I love that they have roasted cloves of garlic. Being in a renovated center which is drawing more business is great. The location is prime in the middle of Simi and you can tell the inside was designed well. At first I was going to be upset that their wall of pictures featured Royal and Simi but not Santa Su, but then I found that they did indeed include the little school on the wall which made me feel like they did something right. The blackberry lemonade is bomb, and the pizza is firm enough so that you can actually put some heavy topping on without it being impossible to eat (I'm looking at you Mr. Pieology.) The manager working was on point with the customer service and I enjoyed him quite a bit. The dude making the pizza tho seemed disinterested (concerning considering the place was like a week old when I came in) and I watched him mess up the pizza before mine. If I had to make a suggestion it would be to be a little more personable on the employee front, and also to stop throwing all of the scraps of food on the floor behind you guys. Build-Your-Own-Pizza is slowly becoming more prominent in Simi, which is a nice departure from the chains that have ruled the valley since I can remember. I don't know if MOD amazed me, but it's certainly a welcome upgrade. Parking: Easy. As part of a sizeable shopping center, you'll rarely have issues finding a spot in the parking lot (unless you're craving pizza on Black Friday). Service: Friendly and efficient, I was in-and-out in less than 10 minutes (ordered to-go). Nothing to complain about here, although it would've been convenient to have a paper bag to put the smaller items in (crushed red pepper, extra cheese, small salad, etc.). Food: Good. I ordered the Caspian, which has BBQ Chicken, BBQ sauce, red onions, etc. Size wise, a pretty solid value at around $8! Packed with flavor, I can't knock it for that. However, there were two notable issues with me: the crust and bbq sauce. The crust on mine was a bit burnt and the underside didn't hold-up well to being picked-up, but maybe that's just nitpicking. As for the sauce, I would just tell them to go a bit lighter on it because the amount was a bit overwhelming. So like I said, good, but not the best bbq pizza I've had. Very very upset and disappointed with one employee here. My roommate and I are regulars at this place. I've talked to the GM a few times. Never anything but nice things to say about this place until tonight. So I'm super short and people usually have a hard time seeing any gestures I may make basically regarding pointing to any toppings and items I want on my pizza. I ordered 4 pizzas all completely diff. Restaurant was extremely busy. I get to the final person on the assembly line and unfortunately I didn't even realize I was hanging my hand over the top of the glass when I was pointing to items I wanted. Noisy in there so I would point to what I'd want as I was telling him. Instead of asking nicely for me to stop hanging my hand over the glass he came at me with such a nasty bad attitude. Instead of politely asking me and explaining it's a health code issue to hang my hand over the glass he just so nasty condescendingly tells me "stop handing your hand over the glass. What I would have said if I were the employee and definitely in a much nicer and more polite manner would have been, oh I'm so terribly sorry, I need to have you remove your hand from hanging over the counter due to health regulations. He didn't even explain why he just snapped at me. He should not be on the line and should not be working with the public. I was spending a decent amount of money only to be talked to in a very inappropriate manner. You have lost a customer because I do t expect to be talked to or treated that way. This man needs to learn customer service skills because he obviously has none. I can spend my money elsewhere. Toppers is fantastic. I don't get yelled at there. Too bad. I enjoyed the pizza so much but if it means being treated poorly then this business doesn't deserve my money! Sad story. When this place first appeared I was so excited to find a unique pizza place where I could create my own fabulous Pizza especially with my weird a dairy and pepper allergies. So in the past I would have told you that this place was a plus plus plus with no problems. However somehow between that last time I went and the pandemic they have stepped into a whole other planet of creating pizzas. When I came here with my friends hoping to get a delicious goat cheese pizza. I found the only had one non-dairy toys but that wasn't the problem. When I asked about my black pepper allergy and what sauce would be safe for me they told me they'd have to check in the back with the manager. When she came back she told me I could not have any of their sauces except for a little olive oil and garlic. Well gosh darn it I can make that Pizza myself. So when she came back I asked her about the meats, which Meats have pepper in them, her response? Instead of going to the back and quickly as the same person she just asked about the sauces she told me to go on the website and to click on the items and it would tell me the ingredients. Well my friend and I sat down at a table and went to the website and then let me tell you, it's not very easy to find me ingredients unless you know to look at the very bottom of the page and click allergen you're never going to find out the ingredients of any of the sauces, the meats or the crust options. So we looked through them. Soy, spices, black pepper, white pepper, as we read through all of the different meat choices there was more crap in them but I couldn't eat then real food that I could eat. So that's the sad story we left the restaurant hungry unable to order a pizza because they were too lazy to find out the information for us themselves and it probably took an extra 15 minutes for us to find the website find the information we needed to get the answers. Of course I should be used to this by now based on how many different restaurants really messed this up. But where did we end up going? We ended up at Natural Cafe in Moorpark I got a plain side of steamed vegetables and a plain side roasted turkey, no pepper! So excited so delicious and totally worth not having to deal with stupid people.
