Let's start with what I like about this place: it is cheap. However, you get what you pay for! I went to this location twice in the past week. The first time I was supposed to meet a friend, but the line was long when I got there & my friend was late. I ordered anyway, thinking he would show up by the time my pizza was made. Long story short, my pizza was cold by the time I ate it, 45 minutes after it was made. It was still pretty good, all things considered.
Several days later, however, I was antsy to know whether the pizza was equally good when it was hot out of the oven. I also decided I wanted to try their milkshakes, after watching one get made after I had already paid for my pizza the first time I was there. Perhaps my mistake was going at a time when there wasn't a soul in the place-- including employees.
I walked into a completely empty dining room assuming the employee(s) would come out to help me. Nope. I walked out and made a comment to a woman sitting right outside who had been watching me go in. "No one there, huh?" I said. "Yes, there is," she replied and got up, went in, and yelled for one of the employees by name. I'm thinking maybe she was his girlfriend or wife? I dunno. All of a sudden not one, but THREE employees come rushing out the back room, looking slightly irritated or maybe embarrassed that they had been caught not working.
At this point I should have known better and just left, but since they were all staring at me, I decided to just go ahead and order. So I got the same pizza I ordered the last time & a vanilla milkshake.
The girl at the register had a major attitude problem both times I was there (same girl both times). If there is any reason I won't be back, it's probably because of her. Something about her screams "F&$% YOU!" to every customer, and while I know how irritating it is to deal with the general public at a retail food establishment, if it is irritating EVERY DAY then perhaps you should look elsewhere for a job.
Anyway, I was the only person in the place, so I expected everything to be super fast, since that is of course, the point of the place (super-fast pizza). I was sort of put off by the fact that the girl pulled my milkshake out of a freezer, pre-made. I had seen her mixing one on the hand-mixing milkshake machine last time I was there, which was why I was tempted to try one. I'll admit it was still pretty good (not the best ever, but better than some of the shakes I've had elsewhere in town), but I was disappointed that it wasn't freshly prepared. The menu reads "hand-spun shakes" but mine was simply pulled from a freezer; kind of felt like getting a McFlurry at McDonald's would have been better, since at least they make them "on demand" there.
What prompted me to write this review however was the fact that my pizza was badly burnt/overcooked. How is this possible when I'm the ONLY customer with a pizza in the oven? The guy was standing RIGHT THERE while it cooked, but apparently was not paying attention. The damn thing was practically inedible and I considered going back and asking for them to remake it, but I didn't really want a second encounter with the F&$% YOU girl, so I decided against it. I ate the parts of it that I could, and threw the crumbly, burnt rest of the mess out. I can't honestly say I'll be back to this location soon, but I might try the U-District one. Too bad they don't have milkshakes there! read more
