The pizza is good but I was given the wrong pizza. I made my own but was then given a cheese pizza!

I'm a big sucker for pizza and also unlimited anything, so I knew it was my calling to try out MOD Pizza. You can either choose between build your own pizza or from a menu of pizza choices. I opted for the build your own pizza, which cost around $12. The great thing about build your own is that you get unlimited toppings, you can definitely get the most out of your money!! They made the pizza in less than 10 minutes, and some delicious, hot pizza is served! I normally can't eat an entire pizza in one sitting, but this pizza was gone in 15 minutes. Because the crust is thin, it was easy to eat this pizza without feeling heavy afterwards. The tastiness of your pizza honestly depends on what toppings you like and what you put on your pizza. So it's great that you have that creative freedom!

MOD is one of my favorite pizza chains. I always layer my pizza up with red sauce, dairy free cheese, and double of all veggies. Yes, I'm a veggie monster, and proud of it. I love the variety of toppings, but my favorites are the roasted broccoli and roasted corn. The employees are friendly, quick, and efficient. My pizza is usually done within 15-20 minutes, depending on how busy they are. Pro tip: I just tried their Mike's Hot Honey Sauce for the first time, and I am addicted! It has the perfect balance of hot and sweet; it will make your lips tingle for sure! Ask for it on the side though, because a little goes a long way. I've also tried their Buffalo sauce, SriRancha, and Balsalmic Fig sauces. The Buffalo sauce is spicy, but too tangy for my taste. The SriRancha is on the mild side, so if you don't like a lot of spice, I would recommend it. I used to like the Balsamic Fig sauce, but I think it's overpoweringly sweet unless you order it on the side.

Overall, this was a pretty average experience. I'd been to this location twice before and had better pizzas, but this time it sort of fell flat. The workers were nice, but the interior of the restaurant was sort of a mess with boxes all over and just had a dim sort of feel because some lights were out. This gave it a subpar atmosphere. I will say, I am pleased with their outdoor seating area! That's a huge plus. Then when it came time for me to make my pizza, the workers didn't seem very generous about the toppings and the crust was a little bit over cooked on my girlfriend's and undercooked on mine. After that, we had super unevenly cut slices, but no harm no foul cuz the pizza would still taste the same. As I said, it was an average experience: the pizza was still tasty, just not as good as it usually is and was a little disappointing.

It's both mine and my husband's go-to choice when we are craving pizza. The best part is that you can have toppings of your choice. So generally, there is a lot of variety in the meat options available. A couple of times, the servers are generous enough to give a little of each of the meat options too. There's a wide range of greens and other toppings to choose from. The portions are always very generous. I always get a loaded pizza with greens and protein. It is really stomach-filling and more than sufficient for one person. very reasonable price and really good customer service. They also give the choice of any two sauces

I rarely rate chain fast casual restaurants, but MOD is a standout among national fast casual chains. I have been coming to MOD over the years going back 4-5 or so years ago in Seattle. I've eaten MOD in Seattle and around the Puget Sound and MOD in Houston, Texas, and the consistency and quality has been the same across geographies and over time! Affordable pie at a great price! I love being able to customize my own pizza to order and having it come out fresh and piping hot!! Whenever I make my pie, I always load up on plenty of meats, roasted garlic, onions, and all sorts of other goodies! I love the variety of cheeses (mozzarella, ricotta, Asiago, etc) they have to put on your pie -- they even have some sort of Gorgonzola if that's your thing! I do wish the MOD here on the ave had Serrano chili peppers--I loved having that extra kick back in Houston! I also wish the ranch had more of a tang, but this is just a minor complaint! Pro tip: if you're loading up on toppings and don't want a soggy pie, ask for the pizza to be cooked well-done for maximal crunch and fresh-baked taste!

Mod Pizza is pretty awesome. It's a spot that you can stop in and tell them exactly what you want on your own personal pizza, then the cook it for you! It's a dream. I came here with a friend and it was not busy at all. We were greeted by a friendly associate behind a counter who guided my friend through the process of choosing a crust, sauce and toppings for his pizza. There truly are a ton of options. I opted for a traditional pepperoni pizza with lots of veggies on it - which is my typical jam. I adore the standard thinner crust how it comes out all crispy and perfect. I did burn my mouth on it with my first bite though - so be careful! I went to the dentist the next day and she noticed the scarring on the roof of my mouth! Anyway, this location was great and I found parking right out front. Although, I must say the entrance is kind of weird - you have to go into the alley to go in the front door, which was confusing at first. Please add signage to make it easier to spot the entrance! (or maybe this makes it extra hip to have a "secret entrance?" I dunno - but I'm glad this location is here! Thank you!

They ruined my pizza. Howwwww???? I tried to eat it still but it's literally burnt just as much on the bottom as on the top. How could they even approve this to serve a paying customer. Highest level of disrespect in this one

Pizza craving? Gone! There are three kinds of pizza cravings that I feel in the night. The first kind is the "I want to stay at home" craving. It's where I want to order pizza delivery and just eat it with a good movie. The second kind is the "fine dining pizza" craving. That's where I would want to go to Tutta Bella or Serious Pie for some seriously fresh, expensive pizza. And the last kind is the "I don't feel like staying home but I don't want to pay so much" craving. This is where Mod comes in. :) Price? Fantastic! As of May 2014 it's 7.17 to get one of their classic pizzas. And if you're a UW college student, you may be lucky enough to come across a Mod coupon that says "buy one get one free." Basically, two pizzas for 7.17? What a deal! It's exactly what my partner and I did. The place is pretty easy and organized. Just walk in and you'll be greeted by the staff and the menu is right in front of you. You can order from their 10 classics and also add whatever toppings you want for no extra charge. However, I like to just stick with the classics and not mess with it. The toppings they pick seem to meld together quite well. So all together we ordered 4 pizzas: Calypso, mad dog, jasper and Ulysses. They are made to order and are definitely fresh. You watch your pizza get made and then put into the fire. However, they do skimp out on toppings a bit. It's not exactly even but still good enough. Within minutes they'll call your name and you can pick up your pizzas. They have shakers of red pepper flakes and Parmesan. Make sure to put them back though because the whole dining area has to share! Let's eat! The mad dog and jasper are pretty much the same except the mad dog has pepperoni and the jasper has mushrooms. Both are red sauce and have spicy sausage. Basically your classic pizza, but still really good. The crust is thin and perfectly crisp! The calypso is smothered in BBQ sauce, has chicken and red onions. Pretty good if you like BBQ chicken pizza. I'm not a huge fan, but I know my partner is. It's his favorite one. The Ulysses doesn't have any sauce. It's actually just based on cheese, herbs and mushrooms. Definitely a strong cheese and mushroom flavor. It is quite strong so if you don't want an overpowering Parmesan like flavor, I wouldn't recommend this one. I'm not sure if I would get the Ulysses again. It definitely was interesting, but not something totally mind blowing. I might try the sienna and see if that's any better. Overall though, cheap, really filling, and the staff are friendly. The pizzas are thin crust and quite good even if the toppings aren't put on evenly. Still satisfies that pizza craving though! :)

Trying this place out from friend's recommendation. Fast pizza which tasted like anywhere-else-pizza. Service is friendly and very polite. I'm a big fan of service because you shouldn't have a restaurant If your staff just want to be there, serve food, and go. Over all love this place and would stop by again for quick pizza and friendly staff. read more

I have always had a great MOD experience until now. First, my friend who is vegan walked in with me and wanted to order the mega size and they told her it simply won't work stacking the pizzas with soy cheese and stared at her with a blank look. I asked what the mega was because I was going to get it and the girl with a bunch of attitude asked "have you never been here?" Well, obviously I am incompetent because I didn't know that the mega isn't bigger, it's stacked! My friend ended up going with a regular MOD sized... But that wasn't too big of a deal. We were going to use a coupon that was buy one get one free and it was buy a pizza get a Mod size free. We told the guy we were going to use the coupon and he waited until it was time to pay to say we can't use it because we bought a mega. Why would spending more money eliminate our ability to use a coupon? He said we had to buy a size smaller to get the free one. We weren't trying to get the big one free so I don't see the big deal. Anyways, he basically waited until we had to pay to tell us we couldn't use it so somewhat tricked us out of our money. Also, they were totally skimping us on ingredients and we weren't even getting much. I only got 3 toppings! Very poor experience! Probably won't be back! read more

It only took a few visits before the staff started greeting me by name when I walked in the door. The pizza is great, fast, and you get all the toppings you want (don't be afraid to go crazy!). If you want to eat healthy, their custom-built salads are really excellent. Combine this with a chill staff and reasonable prices and it's safe to say this place is as good as it gets. read more

I like this place because it's great for solo dining. I don't know how to make my own pizza, so I usually order one that's already built. The guy behind the counter looked at me funny when I said I wanted one of the "premade pizzas." Anyways, the pizza was okay but I did feel like I wasn't eating pizza but, instead, a thin piece of dough. Maybe I'll have a better experience next time if I order something else. read more

The tristan and BBQ chicken pizzas are probably my favorite. The crust is thin and crunchy, and the toppings are extremely fresh. Sometimes the service can be a little slow here, but personally I think their pizzas are worth the wait. read more

This is a wonderful place to hit the ave and so close to the U. You get a 12 inch pizza with unlimted toppings to your liking for $5.88 and they make it as fast as lightening. They crust is super thin (just the way I like it) and served piping hot. The topping are not just your ordinary old toppings you can get fresh garlic, basil, rosemary, artichoke on them and the cheeses are feta moz, parm, gorganzola and/or asiago. Plenty of toppings to choose from. They also have salads, hand dipped shakes and best of all BEER!! They have outside seating with heat lamps for the cooler evenings. The entire staff are just wonderful, friendly and fast. Because i am such a lover of pizza i will be going back all the time. So glad this place opened. read more

The atmosphere is fairly fast paced and busy, but that's kind of indicative of their service in general: quick and efficient. They're all pretty friendly, but not in the "really try and learn your names," as it always seems packed. The pizzas here are always really good to me, though I'm giving a 4 star because I'm always consistently shortchanged on toppings, despite their unlimited toppings mantra. Also tables are usually pretty crummy and kind of messy, but the good food and quick service makes up for the quick napkin-swiping necessary! read more

This location lacks quality customer service, I understand that it's a high volume location but the fact that they sacrifice service for speed is undermining the business mission statement. Overall my experience at this mod location was poor and I don't plan on coming back to this peculiar location, I'll just wait till I go to Portland. read more

If you are looking for pizza in the U District, this is the place to go! You can add however many toppings you want for a flat rate price. The servers that are working there are really friendly and helpful. I had never been here before and they walked me through the process of how to order. I had the Mad Dog pizza with the Garlic bread and both were delicious! The garlic bread really hit the spot and was the perfect amount. It had a nice crisp on the edge and was full of flavor! The pizza was perfect. For the amount of toppings I ordered, I could only eat half, so it is definitely worth the price! Will be going here again! read more

The people were great with us ! The choice is wide and they put a lot of toppings. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, it's clean, you can eat outside and they car about hygiene. The crust is thin but I had enough with a medium size one. I definitely recommend it for lunch or dinner. It's worth the money ! read more

It was good! Nothing super special or anything. They are really quick at making your pizza, and they have plenty of options. I like how they have dairy-free cheese (I'm dairy-intolerant). I'm not usually a fan of thin crust, but the crust is actually really good. I got a mini MOD pizza and it was the perfect size for me. I would recommend coming here if you want something quick, easy, and pretty cheap. read more

I wish this place was here when I attended the UW. We came down here one night because I heard people talking about it. Fast, cheap, all the toppings you could want. Everyone who came with me loved their pizzas.. I was a bit disappointed because my thin crust pizza was burnt.. like black burnt not just crispy burnt. Part of it was inedible. Inexpensive custom pizza located on the Ave. For the same price, they will load your pizza up with whatever toppings you desire (and as many as you'd desire). They also serve cheap pitchers of Manny's. So if you're looking for a good, low-key hangout that won't bust your budget, MOD's will do the trick. read more

MOD Pizza is great! Love the vibe of the place, and some cool chill people work there. It's nice and big inside, so it would be a fun place for a group! There's also a lot of outdoor seating which is my favorite (yay for people watching). We went on a less-than-crowded day, so they took our order very quickly and the pizza was done in about 15 minutes. We got the Mega, half Mad Dog half Caspian. Both sides were amazing! Wish they put more toppings on the pizza though, it lacked a bit in my opinion. Overall great place, will come again for happy hour! read more

The location is perfect if you're on campus and want something quick. I ordered a pizza online and was able to pick it up in 35 minutes. I love that I can load up all the vegetables in the world on my pizza. Their balsamic fig drizzle is a great topping for the very end. read more

concept is great. ANY pizza for under $7? PBR beer for only $1?!? SOLD! I also got to try their knots, came with 4 pieces, they made two garlic and two cinnamon. YUM. Our pizza had pepperoni, light cheese, heavy sauce with mushrooms. I would ask to cook it a little more crispy. But overall, I'd come back if I wanted a quick and cheap pizza fix. I like how the crust is THIN! read more

I like the Ulysses, Dillon James and the Tristan! This isn't any typical pizza, guys. This is a delicious, have it all to yourself, pizza! The price is close to $7 for a personal pizza but you can load it up with as much as you want! And the pizza is just SO GOOD!! It has a thin crust which makes it especially crispy and tasty. I can't get over the cheese, though! When I would get bored in class or when I'm just plain hungry, I would sometimes day dream about the deliciousness of the cheese at Mod pizza... read more

Cool idea but unimpressed with the pizza. They screwed up my order, tried to say I ordered wrong and were a little rude about it but once I proved it was their fault they gave me the wrong one for free and made the right one. Luckily it only takes a few minutes to make. I guess for cheap pizza it's whatever but I don't think I'll go back. read more

I stumbled onto this place while following a friend from a Super Bowl party. I always love the challenge of finding new pizza places or rather any place where you can eat good food and drink. I love the prices here considering you have numerous options for toppings. You're looking at about $6-7 a pizza and they are personal size pizzas. I definitely was happy with just one and not to mention this place is great on a college students budget considering this location is right next to the UW campus. I spent under $20 for 2 pizzas and 2 beers; you can't do that at Flying Squirrel, Tutta Bella or Pagliacchi's. I had the lucy sunshine pizza (mozzarella, parmesan, artichokes, garlic, w/ dollops of our signature red sauce) and added tomatoes and pepperoni. The pizza was made really fast and it was delicious although I could have done without the four dollops of the red sauce. I have found that with certain ingredients on pizza you just don't need sauce; alhtough that is entirely my taste buds speaking. I can't wait to go back and try another pizza but this time I will try the location near my gym in Bellevue. read more

Since moving to the area, MOD has become one of my staple eateries in Seattle. It is quick, cheap, and delicious. The recipe selections are always slightly off-beat, which is great for someone who enjoys trying new things. If you have 8 bucks, stop by here and get a personal pizza and a $1 PBR bottle. When Scott and Ally Svenson founded MOD Pizza in 2008, they knew the last thing the world needed was another pizza place. In their hometown of Seattle, they imagined a new way for people to enjoy pizza, by bringing speed, individual style and value to one of America’s favorite foods. But the real secret sauce wouldn’t be the product, it would be the people who serve our communities — the MOD Squad. I actually celebrated my birthday here because it's one of my favorite spots. I am part of the large group that one of the recent negative reviews is referring to. It happened immediately after the USA FIFA match, and the restaurant was the busiest I've ever seen it. Despite that, Karin still went out of their way to accommodate our requests that normally wouldn't be possible due to the rush, including trying to help with separate tabs when they'd already explained that large groups would likely need to stay on one check. As for things like grabbing water, silverware, plates, or chili flakes...our table had already gotten those before a majority of the group arrived. It's a casual pizzeria, on one of their busiest days ever. Setting and cleaning up the table (especially when seated outside) is not a problem for our group as we do it every week. Which is why it's upsetting that we opened our spot to someone that left such a nasty review. What stood out to me wasn't poor service. It's that despite how overwhelming it must have been to work post-FIFA, Karin was able to take orders, bartend, serve food, and close out checks with professionalism. Sometimes no matter how much effort someone puts in, not everyone leaves happy. The pizza is fantastic! I love showing up every week and trying what new slice they have come up with (in the year that I've been coming here there legit hasn't been a repeat). The atmosphere is great and the staff, especially Karin, have earned our loyalty over the past year. We'll absolutely continue coming back.

I had the infamous meatball sandwich and my wife had the chicken carbonara. They gave us each a slice of their pizza for free as they had a bit extra from one that just came out of the oven. The food was prepared in front of you which is always interesting to watch and the charming brick pizza oven was directly in front of us so we could watch that process as well. Pretty cool. There are a wide variety of pizzas and pastas, desserts and drinks (alcohol too!) available on the menu. We ate at at the bar and had a wonderful conversation with the owners as they bustled about in the open cooking area. I enjoyed my meatball sandwich which had great crunchy crusty bread that held in the contents of melted cheese, red sauce and meatballs. A great choice to get when there. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. It's such a pity because that is the sole reason we now lead our groups to spend their money and patronize other establishments instead. Recently we did give Diller another try, but sadly it's the same story and thus this feedback. Hospitality makes a HUGE difference. Bartending isn't just about making a good drink and expecting tips. As someone who tended bar all over Seattle for 23 years, I know how much energy and attitude shape a guest's night. When the service feels cold and passive-aggressively rude, it's hard to feel good about the experience. It's disappointing, because this place has so much potential. Hopefully management considers bringing in weekend staff whose personalities reflect the warmth and atmosphere the space deserves, there are plenty of more qualified bartenders in Seattle that would gladly fill their spot.

The entire time we were outside, we were the only people waiting, and we even saw her setting up the outside seating as the restaurant got busier. She never once checked in with us or said anything. The food was good, and our service once we were seated was great. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the host left a bad first impression and took away from the overall experience. Honestly, with how busy this location is with all the hungry and exhausted college students (for example, me), there is usually always a 10-20 min wait depending on how busy the location is. The one thing I love about MOD is that you can customize everything to your liking, and the prices are pretty reasonable with the amount of toppings you can request on your pizza. I actually ordered a "MOD" size pizza and honestly I was able to eat the whole thing in seconds bc of how hungry I was, but the size is also pretty adequate for even one person. I'm a small asian girl, so if you're a guy, I'd order two MOD size pizzas or just order a larger size pizza if you are just as hungry as I was ;) The crust itself is pretty thin, so just be ready for some c r u n c h action bc of the lack of softness. Anyways, I'd recommend this place for a quick lunch/dinner! read more

I went here during lunch rush so my fault for that, took about 35 minutes before I was able to order. The pizza was good, but was expecting them to put sauce all over the pizza, but they left like a 3 inch space for crust. I asked the guy to put more sauce to fill it up and he seemed irritated/annoyed. I asked how his day was going he seemed confused why I was asking, just trying to make small talk so it's not awkward and seemed like he was having a bad day. Delicious pizza - almost (if not quite as superlative) as Via Tribunali's. Certainly better than Veraci's. The simple Margherita pizza is our favorite; some of the pizzas, including many of the daily specials, come with toppings which overwhelm the delicacy of the crust. The best special we have tried was the one with rosemary ham and an egg. Prices are quite reasonable, considering the quality. Ambiance is OK. This is a clever twist on pizza and it kind of reminds me of subway just with pizzas. You can modify it any way you want or you can choose a pre selected menu item and top it how you want. All for like 7 bucks. Pretty good pie for 7 bucks. They were a bit frantic about me just walking in to use the bathroom, but I can understand the paranoia because of their proximity to the college.
