Came to Cascina Spinasse in Seattle on Sunday evening, the same day I ran the Iron Horse Half…read moreMarathon in North Bend, where I placed fifth overall, if anyone cares, dudes. I first arrived around 6:15 PM. The area was packed and finding street parking was surprisingly difficult, so give yourself some extra time if you're driving. I also didn't have a reservation and was quoted about a 45-minute to one-hour wait for a walk-in. The woman at the front was very nice, though, and took my number for the waitlist. I used the time to drive over to Kerry Park for some sightseeing and came back around 7:30 PM. By then, my spot was ready and I was seated at the bar. I hadn't really eaten a proper lunch after the race, so at this point I was basically combining lunch and dinner. On the recommendation of the woman serving me at the bar, I ordered two half portions of pasta: Tajarin con burro e salvia -- $20 Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with butter and sage. Cavatelli al ragù di costolette -- $24 Cavatelli with short rib ragù and marinated cherry tomatoes. While I was waiting, they also brought out a complimentary amuse-bouche with toast, fig, and a dark reduction. It was a nice little start to the meal. The tajarin with butter and sage came first. I was starving and finished it pretty quickly. They also served bread and long, thin, crunchy breadsticks that I believe were grissini. The pasta was good, although it didn't completely blow me away. I'd probably give that dish around a 3.5/5. Then came the cavatelli with short rib ragù. Oh my gosh, guys. This might genuinely be one of the greatest pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Somehow, it was even better than the spaghetti Bolognese I'd had at another Italian restaurant the night before. The short rib ragù was remarkable -- incredibly rich and flavorful -- and the cavatelli had this wonderful soft, chewy texture that worked perfectly with the beef ragù and tomatoes. Everything just came together. This was easily the highlight of the meal and one of my favorite Italian dishes I've had anywhere. The bar seating also ended up being pretty social. I talked with a guy next to me who had recently finished a triathlon, and chatted with another woman whose birthday was the following day. It made eating solo considerably more enjoyable. By the end, I was completely full. Considering those two half portions essentially became my post-race lunch and dinner combined, I thought it was well worth it. I'm giving Spinasse 5/5 largely because that cavatelli with short rib ragù was absolutely remarkable. I'd come back without question the next time I'm in Seattle -- and I'd probably order that exact dish again. One word of warning: I'd strongly recommend making a reservation, especially on a weekend. If you're dining solo, walking in and waiting for a bar seat can work, but I'd still be prepared to wait. 5/5 stars Last visited: August 30, 2026

Really, really wanted to give this restaurant a higher rating but it fell short. Here's what I did…read morelike - our server was great and the space is lovely with a cozy, warm vibe. Unfortunately, the food did not hit right. Here's what we ordered: Appetizer: Crispelle - Crespelle filled with taleggio & fig mostarda with roasted figs and walnuts: Tasted like a crepe filled with brie - just OK. Primi: Tajarin con burro e salvia - Fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with cultured butter and sage. I see the potential but someone was heavy handed with the salt so it ruined whatever flavors were supposed to come through. Secondi: Salmone reale - Pan-roasted king salmon with sauteed chanterelles, crimini brodo and thyme oil. Again, could have been really great but the mushrooms & sauce were overly salty. I think I read another review that captures my sentiments . . . perhaps whoever was the chef that night fell short. I specifically asked if the head chef Stuart was there and they said no.

The place is definitely a little tricky to find, and the door itself isn't quite as pink as you might expect! But once we found it, we were lucky enough to get a table for two on a Saturday without much trouble. We each had a drink, and I ordered the linguine alle vongole. It had a generous amount of clams and was really delicious. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was even better. I'm sure this place gets especially fun in the evenings when they have live music and entertainment, although I imagine getting a table is considerably more difficult then. Honestly, I'm glad we experienced it for lunch because it was a great way to spend some time before heading to the airport. Overall, really glad we stopped in. Great food, great service, and a really cool atmosphere. We definitely lucked out getting a table, and I'd happily come back the next time I'm in Seattle. Five stars!

I got the popular lasagna, and it was so good but very small. The cioppino was the perfect size and the bread it came with was perfect for dipping. So delicious, I highly recommend! The cake was kinda hard so not the biggest fan, it did taste good but it didn't seem as fresh as it could've been and it didn't really taste like basil.

Not only to experience the food, but the DREAMY outdoor space I had seen all over social media. Service was excellent from start to finish. We managed to get an outdoor seat (yay!) and the vibes were immaculate from the start. It definitely gives off more romantic/date night vibes, but it was also fun to experience with some ladies from my team. Perfect for a girl's night! Obsessed with the string lights, the fountain, and the overall atmosphere. You somehow don't even realize you're in the middle of Seattle when you're here. The menu has so many options which made it so hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Fettucini ai Fungh - fresh fettuccini pasta with wild mushrooms served in a light cream sauce topped with truffle oil, and I also added chicken. When I say this is probably my FAVORITE pasta I've had in Seattle, I'm not kidding... I almost cleared my plate which is hard for me as my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, but I made it happen! The cream sauce was rich but not too heavy, and the truffle oil was prominent without being crazy overpowering. 10/10 absolutely no notes. Hands down would have trouble ordering something else when I visit again. Without a doubt, I will be returning in the future for a date night!

We had a reservation for 7:00 PM and specifically requested outdoor seating. When we arrived, they seemed very busy, so we simply said that if our outdoor table wasn't ready, we would be okay sitting inside instead. We were only trying to be accommodating and make things easier for the staff. We were initially seated inside, but they eventually moved us outside because that was what they had available and what our reservation was originally for. At that point, the staff seemed noticeably upset with us for having sat inside. Our host then argued with us and said that we had requested to sit inside, which simply wasn't what happened. We never demanded or even preferred indoor seating. We preferred to sit outside from the beginning and only offered to sit inside if it helped because they seemed busy. It was frustrating to have our attempt to be flexible turned into an issue and then be argued with about what we had said.

For those short of time and live with no adventure I'll cut to the chase. The food is exquisite…read more For the rest, please read on. This last week while traveling for business to Seattle I had the pleasure of dining at Mezzanote. Their name of course implies it is an Italian restaurant but what you don't realize until you have sat and initiated your meal is that you, regardless of choice are embarking on a beautiful tribute to Northern Italian cuisine. At first arrival, the immediate impression is one of modest presentation but friendly and very inviting ambience. The staff, including our Server Marcus was attentive and had impeccable timing to read the table and flow of those joined in the meal. Check back was perfect and his service support was equally in tune with the other tables on the patio where we sat. Now this is what you have been waiting for... The food and I mean, we had almost one of every item on the menu and every dish was simply delicious. Tastes that were balanced and never overwhelming, but truly inspired dishes that your taste buds understand that the food was made with care and meant to satisfy even the toughest of pallets. Let's start with the house focaccia and ask for the disco sauce to dip your bread. It was a tummy satisfying start but then they dropped the focaccia regala and with the cheeses melted in a medley that left me thankful I was as they say "hungry as a hostage" because the meal had just begun. The next appetizer brought out was the Carote... This medley of carrots smoked with a Chile Honey Glaze left this BBQ born and raised Mexican wondering why ?? And then I had my first forkful and any doubt that I had about the chef creating something sacrilegious by smoking carrots left me, as the flavors were amazing. For a moment I forgot I was eating my vegetables.. where was this when I was a younger man. On to the main courses and the Reginette was first up. This Bolognese was a hearty blend of flavor and subtlety as it wasn't overly anything except satisfying. The Braciola Dia Miaale was a durock pork chop with a rhubar mostarda and salsify puree with asparagus that could not have been better. You didn't have to be a pork chop fan to enjoy this at all. Every dish that arrived was better than the one before. The Bucatini C'Anciuova, Prawns with Calabrian Chile, anchovies, tomatoe and orange zest was a delight and I don't normally eat anything overly spicy. This was a balance of heat with a twist of tang that the orange zest delivered flawlessly. Allow me to share that it is imperative you save room for dessert. Their tiramisu taste as if there is some Italian grandmother locked away in a pastry room kicking these out. They have other desserts to be sure, but this is the star of the show in my opinion. For those of you that are wine enthusiast, they did have a wine list that was impressive. All in all, for those that follow me, you know that it is a rarity for me to give any place I visit five stars from the first visit. Consistency is premium in my book. But as I mentioned to one of our fellow diners. This food is amazing, and the reality is each of these dishes could be served in a five-star venue layered with opulence and still the food would outshine the location. The only drawback was there was no Coke Zero... Damn it ...Turns out though that can be a pretty tough find in the city of Seattle in all the restaurants. For one that does not participate in alcohol or wine, my taste buds were not underserved and I survived without my Zero. This place is a go-to for any Italian yearning for authentic Italian food made with love. That's the only way I can describe just how good the food is. This isn't something that is prepared in volume for the masses. The chef and that team are simply serving with their hearts and it resonates with every bite. I'll be back, again and again. Oh and should you find yourself needing to go to the restroom. Ask for the Disco restroom.. that alone is worth the drive... Lol until next time Mezzanote! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
