After finally having been to Mod pizza for the 5th time I figured it was time for a review. First off, the staff welcomes you with smiles and how are you's and to be honest they genuinely listen and will make friendly small talk. I was pleasantly surprised that today even during their dinner rush hour I was greeted the same way. They were so organized and the line was moving so fast with smiles on their faces. Today was the second time I spoke to the man whom I thought was one of the cashiers or cooks but happened to be the manager. I know this because I asked another employee who he was and they said his name was Steven and he was the manager. I cannot explain how hard this man works. The first several times I saw him he was running around from side to side and I never had a chance to talk to him until last time I was in. He was baking the pizzas the first time I spoke to him and was on the cashier today. He does such a phenomenal job at keeping this location moving so smoothly I was impressed. Walking in I thought I would wait at least 40 minutes for a pizza because of the rush but with a little over 20 people ahead of me I was still out within 15-20 minutes. As I was waiting for my pizzas to bake I looked around and even went inside the restroom to wash my hands. The place was so clean and again that impressed me given it was rush hour. Now for the most important part, the FOOD! The dough is life!!! The toppings are so fresh I've never seen anything that looks like it's been sitting there because it's that fresh. Everything about the pizza is amazing. I can never have any commercial pizzas like the big chains because nothing beats Mod pizza. My only request is if corporate can add beef or turkey pepperoni because we don't eat pork. I didn't have the shake this time but I did the last two times before and they were delicious. Anyways, bottom line is if you haven't been to MOD I say run now because it's great and the best part is you can customize every single order you place. I am shocked at the service and the food we received this evening for my son's birthday. After visiting the Forney location many time since they opened, we were expecting the same service. First let's start with the pick up. My husband followed the sign that said online pick and waited a while. He approached a guy and said "Hey" and the guy said "Sup". My husband said, "What's up is I'm trying to pick up my order. A hello would have been nice." My husband said everyone was acting like they didn't want to be there. It being messy didn't help Now for the food.. I ordered 5 pizzas and 3 of them were to be vegan. We were so happy that we had a MOD pizza open up so close due to their vegan friendly reputation. So when the birthday boy opened up his pizza to find not one, but two sausages on top of the pieces, we were not pleased. Then when I opened up mine, I also had a sausage. I have been a general manager for a similar set up type of restaurant. It's not hard to clean up after yourself and to keep an eye on what is going into the oven and what you're giving to your guests. They obviously did not take pride in their work whatsoever. Sounds like they should go work at Pizza Hut. Half of our food went into the trash. I will not return to this location. The GM should get some tips from the Forney location because they are wonderful! From the service to the food and cleanliness it is always a focus or seems like it. read more

We could not get in because a delivery truck was blocking both disabled spaces. The driver didn't give a damn because the manager told him to park here. The manager said yes, she did, because the parking lot is "too small." We were a party of three. I'm on crutches and another on a wheelchair. We NEED to use these spaces. I was told by all my friends this is a fantastic pizza place, newly opened and in great condition. Unfortunately I found quite the opposite. Now it may have been the day, or the time, or even the staff that made my 30 minute wait prior to even ordering pizza my first issue. The first thing I saw when I walked in was the complete mess and mound of dishes right behind the counter. (Photo attached). Having been a chef and learning about the basic premise of "clean as you go", has been missed from all of these employees. The second thing that I found wrong with this place was the attitude of the employees themselves. I understand customer service and cooking in general can be stressful and is not meant for everyone. One employee this evening that was working the oven was loud, rude and made very clear if a pizza was not being picked up it was being thrown out. This attitude rather than just box the pizza and set it aside is not something you want to see as a customer or as a manager from an employee. The visible anger on the employees face and body language made for a negative experience, making everyone tense. Other employees, we're just walking around looking at things rather than either help, or clean up the mess that was on the floor. It was very clear no one wished to help anyone else on their team. Even when it came down to someone dropping a pan in front of another, that employee simply looked down and ignored helping. It is truly unfortunate that I didn't even get to order my pizza before the negative atmosphere, visibly angry and intolerant employees and the complete lack of cleanliness, put me at a point where I no longer wanted to be in the establishment. I would have loved to be able to at least taste their food to provide a better review, unfortunately I couldn't get past the atmosphere, cleanliness and out right apathy of its employee. read more

I ordered 4 pizzas at 7:00 it told me that they'd be ready at 7:49 I did not receive them until 8:30 only good thing I can say is they "refunded" my money, the pizzas had toppings and sauce randomly thrown on them, two of them were completely raw. They're completely unorganized, didn't know whose pizzas were who's I won't recommend this place to anyone. Go somewhere else there's much better places in Rockwall for pizza unless you like eating raw dough in that case you'll love it here read more

Both pizzas were great. 2)Called in an order a couple days later. Walked in, line to the door. Staff overwhelmed. Cashier in near tears. Online orders were not going through. People were waiting a long time for food. Bottom line: show up and if there is no line, order and eat there. If there is a crowd, walk away! They got one thing right- a great pizza crust and recipe. They messed up A LOT! This is a cookie-cutter corporation with teens running it. No accountability. Horrible online logistics. Trying to do too much with too few resources. Liked the toppings, the crust, aesthetic of the place BUT... PIZZAS ARE NEVER COOKED LONG ENOUGH!!! Only fix we have determined for those having their pizza at home is this: Heat up a pan/cookie sheet/pizza stone in your oven at 420* and then when ready- throw pizza in and leave in for 5-6 minutes. Voila- perfectly done crust. I would rather wait for the extra time it takes to cook correctly instead of us finishing the cooking of the crust at home. And yes we have eaten it there as well as ordering to go. Such a convenient location but I won't be frequenting often at all. Too much hassle to enjoy. read more

As a regular customer to this place I can say this is consistently good pizza. However, I would say they are much better as a sit down, or order on location and carry out, than ordering online. They need to either improve the online ordering to ensue you get your pizza on time, or just give it up. My recommendation is to pay a little extra and get the mega dough. It seems to cook better than the thin crust. Build your own is the way to go, and don't be shy to tell them if you want more toppings than what they start out with. It's one price, no matter how much you put on. Try the no name cakes. They're basically a better version of a Hostess Ding Dong. I'm definitely going to continue to support this place as it's the best pizza place going for north Rockwall. read more

Here we go! MOD pizza, is a love/hate relationship for me! Sometimes they are ON and sometimes they don't care at all. Their pizza is good......mainly built around the crust which is often light and crispy. Their sauce is ok, but not great. Their cheese is ok, but also, not great. Sometimes when I get pizza from them it's a 5/5 and sometimes it's a 2/5. They can be inconsistent at times. I'd say they are good about 4/5 times. Once I got a pizza and the whole pizza was in the corner of the box. All the cheese and toppings were in the corner of the pizza box. I had to spread it out over the pizza. Also, often their pizza can be cold upon delivery. Maybe they need those insulated bags like domino's has? Overall, I really like MOD pizza. Prepare to get inconsistent pizza that is good most of the time. read more

My rating is 3 for the following reasons: 1) 2 Stars for the (first time at this location) experience I had this past Sunday July 28th, 2019... 2) 4 Stars for the food, though I have to say it would and could have been 5 Stars based upon my experience at other Mod Pizza locations, which were 5 Star pizza enjoyment experiences! Here's more: The service there wasn't as good as the other two experiences I had at other Mod Pizza locations. If the manager reaches out to me I'm amenable to giving more info directly. The first contact is the person that you'd expect to greet you and set the tone...I was bringing my wife for her first ever Mod Pizza experience, after rave reviews about my previous pizzas by them. The contact was not professional, it was distant, and awkwardly laborious. Then the next two young people kept pushing the pizza forward before we could even tell them what we wanted on it (we wanted to modify a combo that was from the menu). We had to repeat everything so many times that we wanted to just say forget it and take it as it was. But I couldn't. I asked for jalapeño and got about 5 pieces not placed with ANY concern, and asked for a little more and got exactly three pieces more. So I got barely more than a slice of jalapeño per slice. I don't like an overcrowded pizza, but that was minimalist and far from what was expected. They simply weren't at their best during the bustle of Sunday noon time. And the pizzas kinda reflected that. And it was Kristina's first experience. Could be her last except if I convince her to give them another try. The service of the main people, the order taker and the first two people with hands on the making of the pizzas all had trouble listening, barely seemed interested in giving us what we wanted. Which wasn't much I think. I just think they had the weakest people doing the first contact and most impressionable jobs during a busy time. Something to think about. This review applies exclusively to online ordering. I haven't tried dining in. Every now and then they take too long to make your pizza. It's happened maybe 3 of the 30 times I've ordered. If you complain to the manager they'll give you a voucher for a free pizza. Sometimes their pizza person sucks at cutting 6 equal slices. Sometimes they forget a topping or put the wrong one. Overall the pizza tastes pretty good. It's not a 5 star joint for the reasons mentioned above, but it's fairly priced considering you get as many toppings as you'd like. read more

I live in Rockwall, Texas. My husband along with our 6 children moved here about 10 years ago. We have individually and collectively eaten at many restaurants. Many good ones and some not so good ones. Like many of you reading this review you too may have visited and eaten at places that was fantastic, amazing, great experience and food or complete opposite. Terrible customer service, awful food, unfortunate, offensive experience. We've eaten pizza from MOD Pizza all of which have been great! I would highly recommend this Pizzeria to anyone. We were greeted by polite and helpful staff who guided us through how to order. Toppings are generous portions, fresh and flavorful. Allergen free!!! Dairy free cheese!!! It was no problem to get my daughter a delicious dairy and soy free pizza. We were able to see all of the allergens for every sauce topping and crust. Most of their crusts are dairy free. Many options available for pizza,the only exchange we had to make was in the cheese. The price was very good for what you're getting. We actually paid less for an 11 inch pizza then we did buying a frozen gluten-free dairy free soy free products at the grocery store. In addition I tried their regular pizza and I will return again. I've been to this place about 7-8 times now, so I think it's time to give a review. Is the food good? It can be and usually is. Is the price good? Depends. Is it consistent as a great experience for meal time? Not really. The selection of toppings (and the quality) is great, no argument. The fact that it is a brick-oven style pizza is even better. I am aware of this when it comes to pricing. If it were a little cheaper, I might give the place 4 stars. But my biggest bone to pick is not the pricing or the greedy rewards program (requiring $150 worth of purchases before any rewards can be redeemed). The biggest issue is personnel/environment. There are some employees who are there consistently and have got things figured out. If you get such employees to build/cook your pizza, great; if not, then you are going to be disappointed. The situation that I've seen take place, which others here have also noticed, is that when inexperienced employees are under stress, they do a subpar job on the pizza itself, frustrating customers, which compounds an already stressful atmosphere behind the counter, which spills over into the rest of the restaurant. The result, in part due to the lack of organization for when the pizzas are done being cooked and are being distributed, is visually disgruntled employees who are no longer functioning as a team to do their collective job. I came in on a Wednesday evening this week-- it was 9/11- and it appeared that they were understaffed for a modest dinner rush crowd. The manager I usually see there (who does a great job) was absent, and it seemed that the group of mostly teenage employees (or so it seemed) were on their own. There was obvious friction between the guy working the oven and the girl trying to distribute pizzas at the counter. I could hear them bickering and my pizza ended up burnt. They threw it away and attempted to remake it from what they could see (they missed a few crucial things)-- this is to say that they need a better system for recording which toppings are on a pizza, or ask the customer to work back through the assembly line with the them if the pizza has to be remade. At least it would make it seem that there was some concern that they dropped the ball. With that said, the subpar service and stress-driven reaction to remake the pizza led to a prolonged wait for a subpar pizza that was different than the one I had already paid for, and tipped on. I will probably withhold tips from now on. Regardless, it seemed they were much in need of a more authoritative and stabilizing presence behind the counter, which was lacking that evening in which my pizza was burnt and incorrectly remade. I saw that they began throwing away, with great frustration, a handful of unaccounted-for pizzas, which is simply wasteful. Other customers were watching the dysfunction with contagious tension, the source of which was all too visible behind the glass barriers. As another reviewer said, they should be boxed put to the side instead. But the lesser-experienced employees probably need more training before being left to themselves even on a weeknight. They might also consider having the same employee walk you through the whole pizza-making process, instead of handing it off to different employees for different toppings. In college, I frequented Pieology, a similar pizza chain in California, which used this system-- and it was seamless. I think I recall this Mod establishment trying it one evening I visited, but it obviously didn't stick. I would personally recommend this model of building the pizza. This way, each employee knows how to do everything as far as constructing the pizzas goes, leaving a couple of specialists to crank out the dough and to bake the pizzas in the oven, respectively. My first time at this Mod, it took 30+ minutes from walking in the door to getting my pizza-- not exactly "Super Fast" as they claim to be. It's better than that now, but still isn't the best selling point. I think of it more as an affordable boutique pizza. I don't come for quick service. But at least some of the employees try to be friendly. Others are, quite frankly, odd or rude (especially on that particular evening). Not the vibe they are going for, I think, while saying they are a "people place." I say this to benefit the establishment, because it is (usually) pretty good and it's close to where I live. But an experience like the one I described kind of ruins the meal, especially when others' pizzas were done correctly, but not yours. I hope the establishment can observe it and consider what seems to be a growing consensus about the strengths and the weaknesses of the restaurant. As for any prospective customers-- give it a try. Chances are, it will be pretty good. But if you go enough, be prepared for a trip like the one I described. At the end of the day, it's a pretty good pizza for a decent price if you take advantage of the toppings available to you. read more

Tonight three of us went for the third time, it was packed, line at the door. We had our pizza on the table in less then 20 minutes from when we walked in the door. It was delicious. They accidentally put the pesto sauce on my wife's pizza too instead of just mine. They remade it right away and the manager delivered the pizza, and more, himself. Everyone there has a great attitude and you can tell they enjoy being there. Great customer service. Will be back for sure read more

I love this place. The thin crust is amazing. The workers are doing a great job and have a lot of energy (Ashley, Isaiah & Kevin are awesome). Love that you can build your own.
