Actually, more like 3 1/2 stars We had tried MOD Pizza once in Ashburn and thought it was OK. This past Saturday, we decided to order 2 of their pizzas through Doordash. Their pizzas come in 2 different sizes---6 inch and 11 inch. We opted for the 11 inch ones thinking that if we get full, we could always save the leftovers for later. We both choose the default crust which is thin. I added red sauce, mozzarella cheese, roasted garlic, chopped tomatoes and bacon. My husband added red sauce, mozzarella cheese, sausage, mushrooms, roasted garlic and red onion. Doordash got the pizzas to us in a very timely fashion meaning that they were still hot when we got them. This was an inexpensive dinner---2 pizzas before the tip, tax and delivery fee cost $27 + change. As for the pizzas---for the most part we enjoyed them. My one critique of my pizza was that the bacon seemed to have an off taste. The best way to describe it is this way---Ever put leftover food in the fridge but didn't cover it then when you went to eat it, it had picked up odors of other items in the fridge? Yeah...I think that's what happened to the bacon. My husband thought that the default crust was too thin and thought that getting a thicker crust would have been better. He thought the thin crust caused the pizza to get dried out while it was baked. Otherwise---We both thought the pizzas were decent. It surprised us both that we were able to eat them without feeling full. If you order a MOD Pizza be sure to temper your expectations. It's a middle of the road pizza. In other words, you won't be getting a pizza like one from Grimaldi's or John's in NYC or Regina's in Boston. Since we didn't set foot in the place, I can't speak to the ambiance. For a fast food pizza joint, this place is pretty darn good. You get an array of toppings for just one price, they will cook it to your liking (I prefer crispy), and it's served in ten minutes. I like the thin crust and the staff has always been pleasant. It's a nice little lunch spot. read more

Let me start with the Pros: The manager! I didn't catch her name but she was young and black, friendly, kind, and accommodating. She should run the place. The pizza was also great. We ordered a thick crust veggie pizza. It was flavorful and had plenty of toppings. The only con was the horrible attitude of the other employees; there was a young gentleman who was there who unfriendly, and made us feel like not wanting to be there. I would normally give this place 4 stars, but my that guy's bad energy dampened the place. Me suggestion to the general manager: be mindful in whom your hire, because they have the ability to tank business. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. We are not familiar with Turkish terms, when we asked the waiter, he mocked us as if we were supposed to know Turkish names for the food that is listed on the menu. Took him a long time to get the orders, and 2 of the orders were wrong, when we notified him that those were not our orders, he got so angry and left the table and sent us another waiter to make the corrections. One of the corrected orders came within 10 minutes and the other one never came. When we asked for the check, he brought the last order, so we didn't take it and he was angry again to remove it from the final check. When given the device to pay, he selected for us 30% tips without even asking us. We refused to give him this tip and we were irritated with this. Will never go back to this place. I went to get a pizza and salad the other day. The lady working behind the counter did not have gloves on while handling the food, and kept touching her nose and mouth throughout the process. Mod Pizza is an easy stop for me for lunch. I've ordered online twice and both times I have been happy with my experience. The first time it was crazy crowded and I had to wait forever to pick up my salad. The second time my pizza crust wasn't ready when I got there, so the manager handed me a cup (I never order a drink) and told me to hang out for a bit. No problem, it was nice of him to do so. The ingredients are good. Everything is fresh and high quality. They offer lots of choices and are relatively quick. I will say they seem to be slightly disorganized, and tend to overdress the salads, but I am still happy to have them in the lunch rotation. I was super excited to see a new restaurant/fast food place open in my work plaza because honestly I'm so tired of Zoe's and Noodles! I couldn't wait for Mod Pizza to arrive and so of course I went on their soft opening on the Thursday when it was 50% off. I went for dinner around 6 pm and there wasn't many people there. It's a chipotle style line where you choose your sauce and toppings and they cook it in a "super fast oven". You can build your own pizza or they have a few selections that you can choose from. I decided to make my own on their "Mod size" which is 11 inches for $8. I understand it was their training day and so to go down the line, the toppings took really long because they took their time putting each pepperoni nicely on each pizza in front of me. Then when I was waiting at the end, for some odd reason everyone who paid after me was getting their pizza before me! I don't know why I went to look over the counter and I saw my name and pizzas just sitting there. Hmm..disappointing. The guy was a bit slow so someone had to help him because names weren't being called for about 3 minutes, not sure what he was doing behind there. I hope they have a better process now and get their technique down because it was just soo slow. I do have to say the pizza was good and crispy. For $8 for all the toppings you want, it was worth it! Roasted corn and peppers really make it on a BBQ pizza. I also enjoy the pizza salad on the days I want something a little lighter. The staff is quite friendly and really make you feel welcome starting with a boisterous 'Welcome to MOD!' when you walk in. On days when I'm uncertain what I feel like, their personal recommendation never fail. Having Caboose Beer is a plus cause I love their Vienna Lager. I decided to get a build your own salad, I love the concept of being able to essentially throw all the pizza toppings on to a salad. So, this is my first time at this pizza chain in Washington and Northern Virginia. (I see them *all over* the place, over the past year, since moving back from Asia, to Northern Virginia.) And now I can see why I see so many of them around here. The place is a bit like what has become common among Mexican chains, now being applied to pizza: a line where customers pick their ingredients, step-by-step, and see the ingredients being applied to the dish (which will be *their* dish) in front of them; they then pay for the completed dish (though, obviously, here, because it is pizza, the customer pays for the completed, but not-yet-cooked, dish in the pizza oven). The resulting pizza is very fresh (like at a Chipotle, all the ingredients on the line are very, very fresh), and very tasty. I will be coming back! read more

I have been going to mod pizza for my weekly pizza fix for a few years. I love the ease of ordering online including easy payment and tipping online. Within the past few months, I have seen the staff fine tune and quickly adjust to the current pandemic environment. The restaurant has been converted for minimal time in the store with easy to navigate stations for pick ups and the staff all wear masks. I see lots of curbside and delivery drivers. From ordering to pick up is on average 15 minutes and my orders are accurate. There have been rare issues like longer than usual wait times but the manager is always respectful and professional. Pizza is the same price no matter the toppings you select and the crust is thin, a cross between California pizza kitchen and Blaze pizza dough. You can request things like extra sauce or cooking the pizza longer if you want it crispier. I also recommend online ordering to skip the wait, plus you can accumulate rewards that translate into a free pizza or salad. I appreciate how well this restaurant has adjusted and it's comforting to see the same consistent staff and manager are still busy and working diligently throughout these uneasy times. read more

Be wary though, the more ingredients you add, the heavier slices will be so it will fold and the toppings will fall off if your pizza is too heavy. MOD is serious about its pizza and this location hasn't disappointed so far. I love the ease of their website and I'm able to customize the pizza any way I'd like and order ahead of time so I don't have to wait in line. They do a pretty good job of having your food ready when you order ahead and it can get busy during lunch so ordering beforehand is the only way to go. Their pizza crust texture could be better but they're pretty generous with their toppings, dry rubs and sauce. The small pizza is more than enough for me but every pizza can be a personal pizza if you believe. I love the balsamic drizzle which is one of my favorites on the meat supreme. There's something for everyone here (including salads if you have that kind of restraint). Great place for lunch at a very reasonable price. read more

With all these fast casual customizable pizzas coming on the scene, I was excited to see what MOD pizza brings to the table, especially since it's close to my work. I get their pizzas well done, but it's a solid choice for these fast baked pizzas. One thing that I see that offer that other pizza places don't offer are whole roasted garlic cloves! Yes you garlic lover would love MOD pizza because you can get chopped garlic, and make it extra garlicky (tasty!) with whole garlic cloves on your pizza. This topping alone will have me coming back each time. Still though, overall, this place is several notches below &pizza, which admittedly, is very hard to top. read more
