In town from the NYC metro area, so my pizza standards are pretty high. This place is tucked into a shopping center on route 50. I was a bit concerned ordering pizza in Virginia but was pleasantly surprised by this place. It is in the NY style as advertised; thin (though not as thin as I prefer) but I still found it rather good considering. Dough is tasty well crisped in the wood fired oven. Iceland is amazing. Everywhere you go, you are treated to breathtaking views, interesting features, and lovely people. But you know what Iceland doesn't have? Good pizza. Or Italian food in general. There are several places attempting it, but something is just off. The sauce isn't what we are used to. Why am I talking about pizza in Iceland? Because I had recently come back from a 9-day stint there, and flew into Dulles very late in the day. By the time we cleared customs (which was a mess) and got our bags, it was late. It was even later by the time we caught an Uber to our car and began a journey back home. After 9pm, there isn't much open, especially on a Sunday night. Thankfully, by pulling up my trusty Yelp app, I was able to find this local NY pizza style place that was open until 10pm and decided to go get it. My wife and I were definitely their last customers. Not wanting to make them make anything from scratch as they were already cleaning up, we ordered from the available pizza choices on display. You could almost see their appreciation as the gentleman helping us loaded us up with garlic knots and selected the largest slices for us. I had two sicilian pieces, one pepperoni and one cheese. My wife got the knots to share and a slice of bacon pizza. In a matter of about 5 minutes, emerged perfectly re-heated pizza and knots for us to enjoy. The sicilian had that slight crispiness on bottom from the re-heat that you actually love, but was pillowy and cheesy. It was great. My wife's slice was also perfectly heated up, and our garlic knots almost tasted like they were fresh. The garlic and butter was very present, and most importantly, EXCELLENT pizza sauce for dipping. The sauce is boss. I don't live in this area, but would definitely recommend Buon Appetito to locals and travelers alike for a local owned pizza joint, that while typical in it's menu and offerings, does a great job! So great, that I didn't get any pizza pics, because I scarfed it down fast. read more

After traveling abroad for 10 days, we arrived late night at the Dulles airport, Ubered back to our car and did a quick Yelp search for places open late. So happy we were directed to Buon Appetito! The owner was really kind to us. We came in about 30 minutes before they closed and they had already started their cleaning routine, but quickly stopped to help us. We didn't want to ask them to prep anything, so we ordered some already made slices. I got a meaty topping slice and an order of garlic knots. Both the pizza and knots were perfectly re-heated. The bacon was crispy but not burnt. Plenty of toppings, but not overly heavy as to make the crust soggy. The garlic knots tasted fresh, even though it was the last batch (and a big one at that). I think the highlight was their red sauce. Very robust flavor and paired perfectly with the knots and pizza crust. It was the perfect place for our late night pizza cravings before traveling back to Greensboro. read more

From the outside, you wouldn't think much of this unassuming hole in the wall place like Buon Appettito. But I hate to break it you my Yelpers, this place offers some of the best pizza and pasta dishes in this side of town. Service: we come here often and every time; we are usually met with friendly and accommodating service. The owner is especially nice and he was the one that recommended our go to dish which is the linguini tutto mare. Food: the NY style pizza never disappoints. But the star of place to me are their pasta dishes. I especially like their linguini tutto mare dish with red sauce. The pasta comes with a side salad and garlic bread. And it comes loaded to the brim with seafood. I'm talking mussels, jumbo shrimp, scallops, clams... all tasting fresh and goes well with the pasta. It will be hard to deviate from this dish but I'll be back soon and will be trying their other pasta dishes. read more

The beginning was a bit of a struggle when I asked what was exactly in a meal but then I believe the owner overheard and made sure I was happy and content which I was because oh my goodness, his actions were over the top. We ordered a large cheese pizza, mozzarella sticks and garden salad which was big enough for two people. Every person that walks in, he knows and hugs and asks how life has been. Lots of mixed feelings on this one- Delivery- took over an hour and we're only about a mile away. Salad- expensive. $10 for a house salad that was just lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and mozzarella. Wasn't enough dressing, had to use my own. Minestrone Soup- didn't even eat it. It was just broth, broccoli and peppers. Lots and lots of peppers. Steak and cheese- soggy. Waited the hour +5 minutes for delivery and called the restaurant. Was told it was on its way and they would call me if it would be longer than 10 minutes. Waited another 15 minutes and called back. They said it was still on its way but would be another 10 minutes. At this point I asked for a refund, they obliged but told me it would be refunded who I ordered it through. I was honestly surprised by this place. It looks very unassuming from first looks but it was a great pizza overall. My girlfriend and I wanted pizza for dinner and decided to try somewhere new. I love NY style pizza and saw this place had good reviews. Anyone who knows NY pizza will tell you that it's all about the water and it's true. While this isn't exactly the same tasting as NY pizza, it's the same delicious style. We got a pepperoni pie and it tasted delicious. Not too cheesy but not too overwhelming with pepperoni either. The crust was solid tasting and not too floppy or stiff. The service interactions were limited so I can't say much other than they were friendly when we picked up our order. We ordered online and just walked in to pickup so there weren't many chances to receive service. The restaurant looks unassuming when you walk in. It's pretty typical of that of a more basic looking restaurant. But there are paintings and pictures on the walls that give it a home-like feel. I recently saw that Buon Appetito was in the running for best pizza in Northern VA in the NOVA Magazine and wanted to give it a try, so I came in one day with a foodie friend who has been eating here for years. The place has the look and feel of the typical neighborhood Italian/pizza/sub joint. Staff was friendly, owner was very nice. Offerings are immense and great! They have lots of pies already made to get a fresh, heated slice from. They can make anything you want fresh also. They also have plenty of unique and interesting items in their menu, like a baked ziti style dish that I got, called "luna (something)" it was really good. Their red sauce is amazing! They even sell is by the jar! Their pizzas were good. The crust was spot-on! Toppings were of a high quality too. Meatballs were really good too. I'm a native NYer and this has been my favorite pizzeria for years! Will never go anywhere else.

Our go-to items are a large cheese pie, and the chicken paisano pasta dinner. The portions are large and the food is tasty. Quality is very consistent. We probably order this twice a month, and it stretches over multiple servings. The pasta dinner comes with a nice side salad and garlic bread. Also had the meatball sub on one occasion and it was everything I thought it would be. Totally hit the spot. Recommend the regular pizza. Also had a Sicilian slice and it was just too much bread...more of a focaccia vibe than the crispy square I was hoping for. They are very generous with the cheese, and the cheese blend and the tomato sauce on the plain cheese pizza tastes on par with NYC. Ordered the fettuccini adriatica, which was billed as fettuccini with fresh shrimp, gourmet crab, and a spicy rose sauce. There were a few things that really bothered me with the dish. First and foremost, there was no spiciness to the sauce. In fact, there was very little flavor to it at all. It was in desperate need of salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper, and maybe even parmesean because the entire dish was incredibly bland...which wouldn't have been a problem if I were at home, but not really an option when I'm sitting in a hotel room. The second issue I had was with the shrimp itself. This was a piping hot, heavily sauced pasta dish. The thing I never want to do is have to reach into the dish to dig out the shrimp so that I can remove the tails and, in one case, to dig out the shrimp vein. There is nothing appealing about having to stick my fingers into my food in general, and definitely not into hot sauce. Finally, it was billed as a "gourmet crab" dish. Unfortunately there was just not a lot of crab present through the dish, and what was there was very small shaving-like pieces. This dish really needed true crab chunks and much more of it because it was drastically disproportionate to the shrimp. It is entirely plausible that other dishes on the menu are fantastic, but this particular meal was incredibly disappointing. read more

ordered an 16 inch gluten free pizza online for more than $20. The pizza that came was was a small possible 12 inch or less pizza. I called the store and the manager apologized but said it should not say 16 inch and the owner needs to change it. Apparently it only comes in one small size.
