My company uses them for private jet catering and this morning our fruit and yogurt parfaits, somewhere along the line the box must've got tossed around a little too much and there was yogurt everywhere! I called and explained and they hand delivered two more, brought them right to the aircraft that wasn't even parked on the main ramp due to special event parking. My Job Used Morones today for our Saturday Lunch, I am writing a review simply because the tuna is GOOD, that's a rare thing most tuna is bland or dry. their Sandwiches are good, and they do not act stingy on the meat the turkey and roast beef sandwiches that also came were stacked with meat, I would highly recommend the Tuna if you like Tuna this is One of the Best outside of my home I have ever had! I didn't get to meet any staff because it was catered to my job, but the food looked good and tasted good the cute little sides pack for the sandwich was a nice touch to give us a complete lunch! Hmm, don't know if recent changes are to blame, or if the weekend cooks do things a little different, but I'm extremely saddened by the change in dinner rolls last time I went. Rolls are bigger but the recipe's definitely different. No beautiful crust and yummy insides! Buffalo chicken sub was alright, a little soggy by the time I worked through the footlong, but just the right amount of saucing despite it. Clams and mussels lunch special was a little overdone, and the marinara sauce accompanying it was a little boring. They warned me that the soup would take 25 minutes, but I was willing to wait. A little disappointing though, corn chowder soup was a little too salty, and the oyster crackers only exacerbated the overwhelming sodium content. Light on corn, but some nice loose crab meat at the bottom. Bay leaf and fennel were left in as garnish. Carbonara was even less sauced than usual. Hope this isn't a trend, this was one of my favorite lunch spots near work. read more

We get lunch orders often here for the whole office and mostly they are accurate, my company has been pardoning here since they opened. Nothing spectacular for the price in my opinion. However, after my whim trying this place for breakfast I feel for the amount of money coupled with the actual food and service I can longer give my money to Merone's. I should mention I have eaten lunch at the restaurant and taken out a few times. Last week on Wednesday I stopped in to get breakfast for the first time. While the omelettes seemed very pricey I couldn't judge since who know how they were prepared. I ended up ordering the Virginian (eggs, ham, cheese, onions, topped with sour cream.) I was offered a free side of fruit or pancakes with the omelette. I asked for toast. I was told fruit or pancakes. I again asked for toast. I was in fact charged for the toast I believe as the total was a tad higher for just the omelette than tax would have been. I waited about 10 minutes while it was prepared. I then left to head to work. Immediately in the car I noted the omelette had a very strong off putting smell. I think this was from the oil and/or spices used to cook the eggs. I found it honestly hard to stomach. When I finally got to the office I opened the meal to immediately notice there was no sour cream on the omelette or in the bag. Mind you when you break down the menu prices I essentially paid an extra 2.00 roughly for the additional sour cream instead of a build my own omelette. I tried to eat the omelette but the ham was so dry and the cheese was not sufficient eat enough to mask the overall dry and hard to eat texture. I took two bites and ended throwing it out. It was rendered inedible. KEY TO THIS REVIEW: I did email their catering email address as that was the only forward facing contact for them. I explained all my dissatisfaction and asked what could be done to fix this as a 12.00 breakfast was unable to be consumed. They never responded. To me that shows me my business isn't valued to them and they don't prioritize their consumers as important. read more

Typically good food, however they've raised all of their menu prices without actually adjusting their menu. So whatever you are ordering will be several dollars more than you are planning on spending. Very dissapointed in the service and they were unkind when i mentioned that I was being charged more than expected. The employee there could do nothing so had me call the owner from their phone, he offered nothing and said that they can change their prices whenever and don't have to put it on the menu. They completely wasted my time, i was trying to stop on the way home for a quick bite to pickup, and when i didn't want to pay more than I expected they offered nothing, only to refund me for the food which they ended up throwing out.... very disappointing experience. read more

DO NOT USE FOR CATERING. We used to use Merones' for catering but NEVER again. While they produced a few good items for us in the past, they nearly destroyed our holiday event by not having the proper liquor license (even after assurances to our event planner AND to the venue), they provided the worst food we've ever had (like a cafeteria), they argued with our venue so all of our prep was late, and they couldn't even get the food set-up on time. The worst part of the whole nightmare was that Merones took NO responsibility for all the damage and cost they caused our non-profit. We had to pay for someone at the venue to have a proper liquor license and then just argued with us about how our venue hated them and that they didn't need that license. WHAT? You need to have the license the venue requires. The measure and integrity of a company is how they behave when something goes wrong. Merones has none of that and cost us a fortune with their mistakes and terrible food. read more

A bunch of people from the office eat here on the reg and after months of seeing it brought back to the lunch room, I had to stop in and see what the fuss was all about. What the hell was I waiting for? I wish I had known how good this place was months ago so I wouldn't have had to eat Subway or Arby's across the street so many times! As an Italian, I judge the crap out of Italian food. Nobody seems to do it right. HOWEVER-- Merone's is on point. I had the baked ziti lunch special with minestrone soup which also came with their rolls-- incredible. Pasta was cooked al dente, the rolls were delish and the soup was homemade. I really love this place! They also cater as well-- you can get all kinds of sandwich platters made up for an event. They are really good! I can't wait to come by with Dad to see what he says! My friend called them and asked to have a bday cake made for me because we were working on my bday. My new favorite lunch spot when at work. All of my co-workers were talking about this place for a long time and I finally decided to try it. Amazing. I was already impressed on my first visit and I overheard the owners in the back speaking Italian. That is always a good sign. Their pizza is now definitely in my top five, and I eat a LOT of pizza folks. NY Italian style pizza and the toppings are fresh and delicious and the crust is thin, crispy, and amazing. To the other reviewer, the toppings will slide off of any pizza if you pick it up incorrectly and it is piping hot. The chicken parm sub was served on fresh baked bread with their delicious marinara sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The Italian owners are constantly there making sure everything is perfect and they will chat it up with you if you are standing at the counter. If you are not, they are walking around and asking how your food is. The establishment is very clean and nicely decorated for a deli type place. Don't be concerned when you see that they have a food factory in the back, they do catering for flights out of Dulles which is literally right behind the restaurant. It isn't hard to find at all (like the other girl said) unless you don't map it out or you are directionally challenged. Go to the first stop sign, take a left. That is it. This is owned by the same family that owns Buon Appetito in Chantilly and serves essentially the same food, though this is their catering facility. It does have a small seating area. The food is simply outstanding, easily the best pizza in northern virginia (I'm a new yorker, I know pizza). We've tried at least 20 different menu items and have never been disappointed. Prices are reasonable, and the owners are extremely friendly. I can't say enough great things about this place except for the fact that you won't find it unless you know what you are looking for (it's tucked back in an office park). This restaurant is the same owner as the Buon Appetito in Chantilly (next to Babies R Us). Location: 606, just past Arby's and McDonalds.. in the office park. Food I love: - Pizza: New York Style. It's really good pizza, not the best by any means but the BEST for this area. The ingredients are fresh and of high qualify. - Salad: House Salad is amazing! What i can tell you is that i know what tastes good and thats what i will share with you all. At first glance, 4 stars got my attention right away. Lunch time arrives and i jump in my car to check this place out. Let me say, the 4 stars is well deserved. I am at 4 stars myself. I ordered the Chicken Parm sub. I'm a bigger guy so the portions have got to be good. I would say i was able to destroy this thing and not be hungry afterwards. The bread, meat, sauce was all good. I didn't expierience any real soggyness like others have noted. The bread had that nice balance between a toasted crunch and the smooth soft insides. The meat was pretty thick and very tasty. Also, As always with any italian place, i always order a slice of the pizza. Didn't blow my mind, wasn't horrible. It was decent. I would definitely order it again. Call Merones if you ever need a caterer! Clare helped me out enormously when I had to arrange a wedding rehearsal dinner for my son when I was out of the country and out of state. She had helpful suggestions for venues and worked hard to find less expensive options when possible. Best of all, the food was amazing and I received many, many compliments. We ordered from merones a couple of weeks ago. We ordered for carry out. When I picked up the food, they helped me put it in my car. When we got home we noticed that they forgot to give us one of our entrees and we found hair in our pizza. I called them and informed them that they forgot to give us our ziti entree and that there a hair in the pizza. The manager on duty apologized and say that he would refund us for the ziti and pizza. An employee of my workplace ordered take out from Merone's in Dulles, the delivery man was an older Indian gentleman. The delivery man approached the front desk (my workstation) and handed me the order receipt so I could call my colleague that made the order. While he was waiting he made a disgusted face and started shaking his head. At first, I thought he was just annoyed that he had to wait for the customer to come pick up the food. When my co-worker came and picked up the food, about five minutes later, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. My co-worker took the food and began to walk away. The delivery man went to the front door then turned and stuck his chin up at my co-worker with this ugly scowl. I told him "have a good day", and after I did the delivery man came back in and put his hand on my desk and said, "you know, some people have good heart, some people have black heart, THAT MAN HAS A BLACK HEART!" After saying that he left. The man may be schizophrenic . . . or maybe he didn't get a tip and was being super dramatic? It was very bizarre and a little disturbing. I called Merone's to let them know about it, they think they knew who the delivery guy was. I hope they talk to him. When I complained the manager on duty was incredibly rude and combative as were the rest of the employees. I'm Italian - and our whole family is from NY and elders are off-the-boat - so I'm already cursed when it comes to finding great pizza/pasta throughout the country. I grew up on family recipes and authentic/traditional fresh and full meals (7+ courses). Let me just tell you that I live in Cali, now, and I miss Merone's & Buon Appetito with my whole being haha I seriously haven't found ONE ristorante/pizzeria out here that even comes close in quantity, authenticity, quality and VALUE. It's so sad/disappointing. I haven't lived in Northern VA for years but my folks still reside. So EVERY TIME I'm home, visiting them, I make it a point to go to Merone's and have a quiet dinner with them and my children. They've catered our parties, delivered dinner to our home, we've eaten in both establishments and we are still tried and true to their business. Their family has truly become like family to ours. They welcome anyone/everyone into their establishment with loving arms and they will give you the shirt off their back, if they can. Great people, delicious food and a relaxing eat-in experience. I honestly can't even recommend a particular dish b/c every one I've ever had there has been good. My typical go-to? Papa salad and some ziti w a fresh glass of chianti - followed by a cappuccino!!!! It kills me to write a 1 star review, but I've given this place multiple chances to fix the problems and nothing has changed. Food - I would advise not to order the lasagna because both times what we got was a bowl of meat sauce with a couple of lasagna noodles floating in it. Gluten free Italian is hard to find - this place does it very well! However, I have had major problems with most of our delivery orders. Drivers don't show up, no one calls, and when I call to politely inquire, I get answers from, "The driver must be lieing to me", to "It's still on the way" (when it is not). Add to that, we've been double charged, which takes time out of my day to get fixed with my credit card company, and we've been charged for the orders that never showed up... I get stuff being late occasionally (even though it is an 80 minute delivery window), but do me the courtesy of calling ME and letting me know... or when I call, give me a better answer than, "Well, it's the driver's fault because"... F for customer service. This is really a shame since their food (pizza, subs) is good. One other issue is - don't expect anyone to read and pay attention to the notes on your order... such as, "Light mayo" or "no lettuce". You'll get what you get and you'll like it... or not. Maybe the experience IN the restaurant is stellar but hard to imagine. We will not be patronizing Merone's anymore unfortunately. Food is mostly decent, but that's the best I can say about Merone's. We've been patronizing them for years because we don't have many delivery options in our area. But we have been putting up with horrendous service for far too long and tonight was the final straw. They almost never get a delivery order right. You name it ... they've screwed it up. No dressing with the salads ... forgot the rolls ... missed one of the entrees. When you call to complain, they won't refund your credit card for what they missed. They say "we'll make up for it next time" but they never do. I don't know if it's the kitchen staff or the delivery drivers who pack up the orders, but it doesn't really matter.
