A nice addition to the very limited Dunkirk dining scene. One minor quibble -- you don't know when you place your pizza order that you need to order your sides at the same time, and it's too late when you get to the register. The staff was super nice, welcoming, and explained how Mod Pizza was priced and how to order. I had the Caspian pizza and the sauce and toppings were delicious, however, the crust was lacking. They said there was a thick crust but the crust seemed extremely thin - almost like a soft tortilla shell that went through a pizza oven. For me, the pizza dough is one of the most important parts of a pizza. The dough was definitely lacking. My daughter had the plain cheese pizza and she ended up throwing majority of her pizza away. read more

My first time here and I had the worst experience ever. The people that make your pizzas do not wear beard covers and they have long straggly beards hovering over your pizza. Then after all of that Mike Harkness comes along and has the worst attitude at checkout ever. Easily the best pizza in Dunkirk, everything else is gross, greasy and overpriced. Two suggestions for you MOD Pizza. Consider changing your restrooms from one male and one female to two family or all gender restrooms, they are only single occupant so having to wait is kind of annoying and I'm not trying to be the guy using the female head ( kudos though for having a changing station in the male restroom as well), secondly, you guys need some blinds on the front windows, we were in there today around 430pm and the sun was unbearable for everyone inside, those are my easy, common sense improvements for your business, thank you for bringing good pizza to SOMD. read more

No as good as others, like Bertucci's, or as good as Mama Lucia's, before it went downhill. 3 Brothers is the only real pizza place left in Calvert County. I would like to start by saying I am food safe certified and am a food service professional. Please don't eat anything that does not go through the oven. If it is cooked it will probably be fine. Do not eat a salad. Just don't. Do not get anything raw put on your pizza when it comes out of the oven. It is stressful to work in a restaurant and remember to wash your hands and change your gloves before you touch something someone is going to eat, but people don't mind waiting. Especially if they end up spending a holiday weekend planning to go places that have a restroom nearby. read more

This is for MOD Pizza in Dunkirk only.... They have been open for a few months, and we finally decided to give it a try. This is not a sit down, be served, restaurant. It is as if Subway had a child that became a pizza place. You go through the line, pick out the toppings you want and then they call your name when its ready. You grab a open table and eat. Full of open space, it is noisy (but not overly so). Basically it is fast food pizza and I'm ok with that because in the end it comes down to taste. The pizza itself, biggest misstep is how it is served...on a plate with the order sheet. The issue here is as the hot pizza cools, all that moisture has no place to and the crust becomes soft/soggy. If the pizza were put back on the mesh screen for service - problem solved. The good, honestly what is not to like? Fast, friendly service, they make your pizza in front of you with what ever toppings you want, and its cooked on a open gas fired oven so it is done fast. The open fired oven is really the key...super hot, cooked by someone that knows what they are doing (vs the pizza conveyor belt used at other places) you get a nice and crispy thin crust all served hot (see above, where serving on the mesh screen would keep it that way). Good crust, nice sauce and toppings all make for really good pizza and when mixed with the fast friendly service you have a winner. In the end, it has a pizza joint feel and doing what pizza joints do best - good pizza. read more

Ordered to-go with my sister. We got 2 small pizzas and a salad. (that was drenched in dressing). 45 dollars. Not to mention they couldn't find one of the pizzas that we ordered (it was plain cheese) and had to take one from another person's order that hadn't arrived yet, and they forgot to make the salad as well. This was our first visit to this new restaurant (on a very busy Friday evening). The pizzas were delicious, with thin crust and good toppings. On taste alone, I would have rated them higher. However, we ordered online and the two pizzas were 15 minutes later than their promised time. One of my pizzas had also been sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes. Perhaps they haven't figured out how to deal with a busy Friday night yet?? Regarding my salted caramel shake, it was delicious but way too thick. I had a hard time using a straw and a spoon would have worked better. On a logistical note regarding the traffic flow, it is hard to get out of this new shopping are and back onto Route 4 south anywhere near rush hour. Update: we visited early on a Friday afternoon (light crowd) and the pizza was excellent (hot, great toppings, very flavorful) and both were cooked in only a few minutes. read more

This business shares a parking lot with at least three others. The front entrance is tight, with the menu on the wall as you walk in (so if you're reading it, you have to move anytime someone comes in.) Exposed beams and modern art look nice. There is only one dining table outside. Not many choices are offered, but you can create your own pizza to suit your preferences. The staff is prompt and friendly around the make line, but the oven tenders don't pay much attention. We received half of our order, but the man at the oven argued we weren't waiting on anything. If that was the case, why did we pay so much, then tell you items are missing? He apologized only after another team member corrected him, then placed two orders ahead of ours instead of making our missing pizzas. We waited almost an hour more to receive our food. Everything smelled great, but the ingredients weren't evenly spread, the sauce had a sour taste, and the crust was so hard it actually hurt to bite in to. Unfortunately, the food was mostly inedible. For my first time going to this MOD Pizza with my boyfriend and a friend of mine it was a great place and even though the line was backed up to the door everyone worked as a team to get all the customers taken care of as quickly as they could. We waited in the line no more than 7 minutes. I got the seasonal pizza called "kevin" which surprisingly enough pumpkin sauce on a pizza was really good I love anything pumpkin related so I was brave enough to try it. It's definitely a pizza I would have again I would just subject if you try it and want a little heat I would go light on the peppers. I like having a little bit of heat but after having 1 and a half slices my mouth was starting to hurt a little bit so I just removed some of the peppers and everything was back to a little heat but not to much.
