Almost as if they've been there a bit too long. Had a very... wet residue on the frosting & the dough wasnt as soft as expected. I've had mochi donuts before, so, I knew what kind of flavor & consistency I was looking for. Same with the boba tea. The pearls were a bit too tough & didn't taste quite right. The staff was very welcoming though! & it seemed like a nice little spot for teens/kids to hangout. It wasn't a horrible experience, just not my favorite. The donuts were fresh and chewy, with a light glaze frosting, not cakey or overly sweet. This is a sweet space, pastel pink, with an ivy-decorated wall and about six small tables. No wait upon arrival to order. We ordered the ube, chocolate and strawberry mochi donuts. There is limited seating inside and one table for outdoor patio seating (seats 3 ppl) and a bench (seats 2-3). We could barely taste the ube in the ube donut. Husband enjoyed the chocolate mochi donut the most as you can taste the chocolate. The donuts are original mochi donuts with with flavored frosting (ube, chocolate, strawberry etc) so you may not taste the flavors as much depending on how strong the frosting adds flavor. ***Updated review*** Lately, I have had a lot of bubble tea and mochi donuts. So I have been comparing the places I have found and liked. While I love that Mochidou is close to where I stay, I don't think I will be going there all that often. Here's why: Mochi donuts: I love a good mochi donut. They taste similar to regular donuts but have a distinct shape and chew. The donuts here are on the chewier side which is not my preference. I like them to be more crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. The icing is a bit too sweet and all tastes the same despite the different flavors. There are two flavors that are worth getting, the cinnamon and strawberry. While still quite sweet, they have a distinct flavor that is lacking from the others. Bubble tea: The bubble tea is not bad, but it's pretty ordinary. It is way too sweet and unfortunately I keep forgetting to ask them for less sweetness. There are better places to get bubble tea in Schaumburg, not too far away. Apparently they have Korean corn dogs but I have not tried any. I am hesitant to buy them given that it seems more of a cafe and boba shop rather than a solid restaurant. read more

This place opened close to our home last year and I'm so glad it did. The donuts and boba are delicious. Love its added an element of diversity to our neighborhood by being there. They have some different flavors every week too. Such a cute spot for nice pics and overall - its just really tasty. It's always such a treat to come in here with my kids to grab a donut and drink. One of my kids wanted to try boba. This seemed like a nice, close option. The mochi donuts were a draw for my other son who wasn't as interested in bubble teas. The shop is small with maybe 4 or 5 tables, very clean, and cute minimal decor. Three of us got a mochi donut:strawberry, cookies and cream, mango. The mango was the stand out winner with little slices on mango on the top and tons of mango flavor. My son got a strawberry swirl smoothie with popping strawberry boba. It was tasty but very sweet. He could finish a third of it and brought the rest home. I got the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was nice strong coffee but also very sweet. They also offered bubble waffles, the Korean crunch hotdogs on a stick, and in general had a huge drink menu with lots of optional add ins for boba, tapioca etc. I'd definitely go back to try another drink (something not so sweet!) and get a mango mochi donut! The one fail was the shop only had one employee. As we ordered a group of 5 teens walked in so the girl working the counter had 9 orders to complete at once. Mmmm... I have been craving for some Mochi Donuts and after some research, I came across Mochidou. It's pretty close to me and easy to get to so win - win! My nephew has a severe peanut allergy and I wanted to make sure there wasn't any peanuts used or mixed by accident. The woman was so passionate about maintaining a nut-free environment at the store to prevent any accidental cross-contamination. There wasn't any type of nuts present and their ingredients are always checked to ensure they don't come from a facility that processes nuts. QUADRUPLE BONUS POINTS!!! My sister-in-law wanted some to enjoy on the plane with her family as they headed back to San Diego. Visiting family in Cali, I had my first and multiple experiences with Mochi donuts so our expectations were high! The moment we walked in, the service at Mochidou was so friendly! The lady behind the counter was bubbly and welcoming! She asked if we had any questions, told us about the special flavors of the week and what they always carry, told us more about their drinks and corn dogs. Just the friendly attitude made me want to buy more and stay longer! It's a small shop and their selection isn't huge, but OMG - one bite into their decadent, fluffy, chewy mochi donuts and you'll want to eat slowly to savor it while wanting more at the same time! We ordered a dozen donuts which isn't cheap - way more expensive than average donuts. But SO WORTH IT! She offered to put our order into two boxes, if we wanted them separated. This place is a gem! Their hand-crafted mochidonuts are so light and soft. There are so many delicious flavors to choose, and easy to share with others. One word. Amazing. I came into this store worried from some of the reviews saying this and that about how the donuts were too sweet. Honestly, the donuts were sweet but not overly, and if so only slightly. I bought a half dozen donuts consisted of the following: 2 Glazed (regular), 2 Strawberry, 1 Cinnamon, 1 Chocolate. There were only 4 available flavors when I went so I wanted to get at least one of each. I tried a glazed and wow. A great combination of a chewy yet fluffy texture. I LOVED the glazed! I also bought a regular milk tea with tapioca. The packaging and food is all adorable, and the milk tea was delicious! The cashier was also super sweet and kind! I will definitely come back again. Our first time here. My husband had Taro storm (smoothie) and I had mango tango (fruit tea). They are delicious! Taro tasted like Ube. It's now my husbands favorite drink. He even liked my drink compared to the other place we go to. We also had cherry, strawberry and cinnamon mochinut. They are very soft. The only thing is I wanted mango and they didn't have it but we will be back for sure. I think they do weekly flavor. The donuts were good but the bubble waffle was forgotten and burnt and it was served that way to us. When going back to the counter, we asked if this was non-flavored version and the staff confirmed it was -- meaning, this was not chocolate chip and therefore should not be spotted dark or should have looked, smelled, and tasted burnt. With the staff's confirmation, there was no apology or intent to make things right until we pressed for a solution. I went here with my nieces and son to try their mochi donuts. We got the half a dozen and the donuts weren't fresh. It was okay compared to the ones we have tried at Mochinut in Arlington Heights. The donuts weren't that soft compared from there so we we're disappointed. We got there around 4pm I believe if that helps. However they we're cheaper though. Had these as the "cake" at a kids party last night and then proceeded to take my family there the next morning for "breakfast" (hehe). I have to admit them a little over sweetified at the moment, but I regret nothing. Mochi is wonderful, chewy and soft. Making it in donut-isg form is one of those things you see and wish you'd thought of. By you I mean me. I, and by that I mean I and hopefully you, will be visiting again. Didn't try the bubble tea or smoothie or corn dogs, but they said they use only while milk in the bubble teas (I guess that's a good thing? I don't like bubble tea in general). For smoothies they said they use a mix of fruit and some kinda jam compote which is probably tasty. Also didn't try, but I'm a bit of a smoothie snob, so thought I'd mention for any other snobs so they know what's what. Will probably try a corn dog next time for fun. What a wonderful donut shop! Went to the nearby Jewel and saw they were open. Had never had a mochi donut before and it was excellent. The edges are a bit thicker and the inside nice and fluffy. Really liked the cinnamon one (tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in donut form). They have 5 flavors: raspberry, matcha, cinnamon, chocolate and vanilla. Great service. Nice decor (my daughter liked the pink chairs). Very clean. My only suggestion if anyone affiliated with the restaurant reads this, is to provide sleeves for the hot drinks. It's hard to hold a hot coffee in a thin plastic cup without a sleeve. Otherwise top notch. Will definitely be back. read more

First time at this cute, clean Mochi donut shop. Decor is simple, modern and clean, just the way I like it. We received very good service from the staff who greeted us. Got a dozen of every variety. Can't say which was my favorite. I was very pleasantly surprised by the mochiness (I just made that word up)of the donuts. So tasty, not overly sweet. The perfect treat for an afternoon. Had the pineapple smoothie, a Taro milk tea and a strawberry smoothie. These were all a little sweet for our tastes, would probably skip them next time in favor of a place old cup of coffee.
