We went out for dinner and after decided to come here for desserts. As we entered, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. Before ordering, we were curious about the ingredients for their Taro Bubble Shake, they were unsure but went to the back and brought out the packaging with the ingredients listed. We were happy to know that it was free of allergens! They were also clear off ensuring that the equipment will be washed and the prep area would be clean. We ordered the Taro Bubble Shake, Matcha Bubble Waffle and a Choco Oreo Bubble Waffle. The Taro Bubble Shake came out quickly and the Bubble Waffles came out after as the waffle is made to order. The matcha ice cream was delicious and has fruity pebbles (added the crunchy), cookies, whip cream. The waffle cone was soft and as I ate Eve ice cream, I could tear into the soft and fluffy cone. I certainly would get it again. The Taro Bubble Shake and the Choco Oreo Bubble Tea had two thumbs up due the taste. I'll have to come back to see for myself. I would like try the Bingsoo as well! Our family wanted dessert and my eldest recommended this place for Bingsoo and other desserts. Conveniently located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. The cafe is pristine and spacious!! We were absolutely heartbroken when our favorite bingsoo cafe closed, so my friends and I were on a serious mission to find a worthy replacement. Then--by pure luck--we stumbled into Hangout Cafe after dinner next door, and WOW... this place saved us. They have an amazing selection of drinks--coffee, tea, bubble tea, bubble milk tea, and bubble milkshakes--but let's be real, I was there for the bingsoo. Choosing was tough because everything sounded incredible, but I went with the strawberry bingsoo, and it was next-level delicious. Light, refreshing, perfectly sweet... 10/10. The service was fantastic, the cafe was clean and cozy, and there's even a parking lot (major win). We left already planning our next visit. This is a great place to hang out for sure! But you can also pop in and out very quickly, which is what I usually do. They have a wide selection of special coffees and coffee drinks, which is what I usually order, but they have a whole bunch of other drinks, which I am guessing are pretty good. Because coffee doesn't exist alone in nature and usually has a sweet or other small edible in its company, the Hangout has great accompaniments and I always get one of them. They're all irresistible but I seem to go more for the "sliver of cheesecake" ones that are substantial enough to stop my grumblings but not too much to make me to full or ruin my appetite. Cute, modern aesthetic. Everyone has been very nice and helpful when we've gone. We like their red bean bingsoo. The shaved ice is like snow. Some places are more like ice chips, but it's like freshly fallen powder snow that melts on your tongue. They use a honey powder, which is unique. Not too sweet but really good! We also like getting plain bubble waffle for our kids. These are just so-so. The Hong Kong or Taiwanese style we like has a bouncy chew and eggier taste--this is not that. An appropriately named restaurant, this cafe is convenient for hanging out though the furniture isn't the most comfortable for that purpose. Parking is pretty easy as the shopping center isn't typically super busy. The service is fairly quick and friendly and they do prepare drinks fairly quickly which are not the cheapest but no more expensive than nearby cafes. They have an impressive variety from coffee to milk tea to smoothies to specialty drinks. I did not expect to see dalgona milk tea and tiger sugar latte available on their menu. It is nice that they offer a variety of desserts like cake, bubble waffle, bingsoo, and cookies. Though bingsoo and bubble waffles are becoming more common in the suburbs now, its great to see them offer a fairly wide variety of flavors for each. Overall a good choice should you need a sweet treat in the area and need a casual place to hangout with others. read more

Decent coffee place in NW Suburbs of Chicago. The cashiers didn't seem very familiar with the options they have. Anyways, we ordered Hazelnut Latte and Hot Chocolate. Hot chocolate: it was actually good but they didn't have marshmallows to put in it (which i like). Hazelnut latte: not my taste, but my loved it. Good thing was both the drinks were served hot. They didn't have comfortable seating. They have metal chairs. Sitting there for 20-25 mins was very uncomfortable. They have gender specific restrooms. This is a nice little dessert, boba, and coffee place! Inside is clean and inviting, the service is friendly. Attention to detail is plain to see in the items. This is one place where the menu pictures actually resemble what you get. The dessert is where its at in my opinion. Those bubble waffles are yumz, as are the cakes! I've been meaning to check out Hangout Cafe. After dinner at Shinchan Ramen, we finally tried it. Since we were full, we split a strawberry bingsoo cup. Bingsoo is Korean shaved ice. It's one of my favorite desserts. Other choices are mango, matcha, and Oreo. They also have boba, bubble waffles, smoothies and cake. I really enjoyed the bingsoo. Love that they swirled the strawberry topping (has real strawberries) in with the powdery ice and ice cream. The ice has a soft powdery texture. There are cubes of cheesecake and mochi. They forgot to put the little mochis in so they gave us a little cupful. Next time, I'll have to get my own and not share! Or better, get the larger version! Lol Service was great! I have very high standards and the Hangout Cafe definitely met them. The tiger sugar latte with light boba I ordered was the perfect amount of sugar and the coffee actually tasted good and strong. Boba is not great at a lot of places but here was the right amount of softness and not sweet which is good for me to cut down on sugar. The ladies working were very prompt and had a smile. Came here the other day with some friends for the first time, and we enjoyed it! My tea was absolutely AMAZING. I hate tapioca, so I never get those little balls in my drink (gross texture and to me they don't even have a taste) so I ordered a mango fruit tea and it was AMAZING. I could have drunk that thing in one second. Thankfully, I decided to order a large one. Parking is easy because the location of this place is within a large parking lot with other businesses around. The place was also very clean when we came. I hate that they don't have a website so you can look at their menu or prices online, so you have to find it on Yelp or go off of pictures on their Instagram. Their ice cream is very aesthetically pleasing and they definitely are careful with the detail of how it looks, but my friend said her ice cream looked much better than it was. She liked it, but didn't think it tasted anything special. I am not a huge ice cream person, so I myself have no opinion and didn't try the waffle cone. They are HUGE, though. Prices are decent, though I wouldn't pay $8.50 for ice cream, no matter how big it is. Overall, I will definitely come back for the fruit teas, and my friends enjoyed their bubble tea, as well, so I definitely recommend the drinks here. read more

Note: there is an update at the bottom. I was all prepared to give a mostly good review of this place despite them missing an item in our initial order initial order and interrupting me while I try to explain what I want (wasting time as I then needed to correct her to undo the assumption she made and back track from the conclusion she'd jumped to). I still would have given four stars because it's hard to run a small business. The kicker for me was that when I went back to ask for a to go box not only did she conveniently mishear me and charge me for a slice of cake when I just needed a box for the cake we had already bought but she also moved the tip jar (a black mug) behind the register until I had paid then put it back out when I stepped away. The patrons just ahead of me had put a couple of dollars in the mug right before I got to the register. From what I hear the cheesecake they have it pretty good. Unfortunately I will never know as I will not ever return to this establishment. UPDATE: I was contacted by the management team who apologized for my experience. They refunded the extra cake charge and explained that it was probably a perception and timing issue with the tip jar as the shift was changing right around the time I went to the register. I believe them they seem sincere. I think they should have better awareness around such things and act accordingly but I'll chock my experience up to a misunderstanding. read more

I have been here twice. Both times during COVID restricted. Both times I was able to sit outside. Bubble tea is very good, and I love their take on Douga coffee. Bubble waffle is fun to eat, and so is the ice cream. My only complaint is that it is hard to share. I feel like I shouldn't order Bubble tea and a whole waffle ice cream dish for myself, but with COVID it makes it very hard to share. I did ask for an extra cup to split it with a friend, but still was hard to split. Not that big of a deal, but I still enjoy going there. The boba teas had soft chewy boba ( just right), sweetness level was adjustable. The bingsoos were excellent. Cup size was plenty for one person. The plain bubble waffle was crisp on the outside and soft on the side. The cafe itself is not very big, but there are a few high top and low top tables.
