My wife was having a phone issue so I decided to give these guys a try as opposed to going to the Apple Store. That was a mistake I won't make again. The person helping my wife said they needed to keep the phone to run some "diagnostics" on it and said they would call us when they had an answer. 5 hours passed and no call. My wife decided to call for an update, and the guy said he couldn't fix the phone and that we needed to take it somewhere else or he could sell us a refurbished phone. When my wife asked why it had taken 5 hours, the guy said he forgot to call...To top it all off, they charged us $25 for the diagnostics. I will never come back to this place ever again. TL;DR - Broken screen fix for iPhone 6 Plus was around $150 without and around $170 with tax -- similar to the Genius Bar. - Since they close on Sundays, don't bring in your device on a Friday in case the delivery man holds your phone hostage on Saturday. If you want same-day fix, make an appointment at the Genius bar and sit there 2-3 hours. This is how my experience with them went: Friday 12/30 12:10pm: 1. I walk into the store next to the Valero gas station. It has 5-6 car lots. There were two customers inquiring about their device, but I was greeted and addressed promptly. I had made an appointment online with Apple (seemed like it was not necessary). Before you pay you need to: 1. Back up data on your device (in case the calibration at Apple fails and you get a new device) 2. Turn off your Find My Device 3. Leave your name, e-mail, and number. Since my primary contact will be the device I leave with them, I left another number with the gentleman at the front desk for him to call at 11am the next day. The expectation was that Mobile Kangaroo takes your device, sends to Apple 4pm, and receives fixes at 11am. Next day Saturday 11:00am: My phone was supposed to arrive. No e-mail, no phone call. I need to finish up some work, but that's fine. It can be late 1-2 hours. 12:38pm: No e-mail, no phone call. I visit the store. There is one customer reading on the couch and another being addressed. I'm promptly addressed (seriously +1 stars for in-person service): FedEx guy is late. ETA is 1-3pm. I'm given a Mobile Kangaroo name card with a number to call (must've been his intuition that the visit was unnecessary). 3:24pm: No e-mail, no phone call again. I call the store this time. The lad says: 1. Phone number I provided was wrong (he called the phone number for the device they had). I was confused because I had left another number to call. 2. He says FedEx man is late and is giving him varied ETAs. The delivery is not on its typical route and visited other stores in Berkeley and Palo Alto. 3. He says he was supposed to close at 2pm. Mobile Kangaroo closes at 6pm -- must be a NYE thing. He hints that I probably would not be able to pick up my phone today. 4. He says he has updates regarding my phone. He tells me that the phone had water damage and due to protocol, the broken screen had not been fixed. Why is my 3-week old phone waterlogged? When I come in to pick up my phone, he says that they can open the phone so I can verify the water damage. He says I can call Apple to complain. I hope Asurion can clarify for me, but shouldn't customers need to be aware of these protocols before the service? 5. He then offers me a loaner phone. Why did not not receive a temporary replacement at 12:10pm yesterday when I left? Unfortunately, I needed the device (specifically the SIM) because of work-related two-way authentications. 6. He apologizes and says I can pick it up later -- not the next day because they are closed on Sundays; I can pick it up Monday. I ask when they are open and he says 10am, a sad 47 hours after I was supposed to. 7. Hang up the telephone and consider chasing down the FedEx man myself. 8. Unintentionally flake on all my work and social plans for NYE and repent that my life had relied too much on technology. My overall experience with them has been frustrating. Thankfully, I found that my phone was water damaged but unfortunately, my phone was taken for an unexpected length of time at an even more unfortunate timing. My husband brought my sons phone here a couple weeks ago to have the screen fixed on his iPhone 5c. They were very happy with the results. When I dropped my phone yesterday I was devastated. My husband told me to call and see if they could help me out. I called to make sure they would have time to fix the screen on my iPhone 6 Plus. They said absolutely, gave me a quote and I headed over. I found the guy who greeted me to be very knowledgeable and pleasant. He said it would take 30 mins and asked if I wanted to hang around. Since I had my 3 year old with me, I told him I would just wait in store. I swear I only waited 15 minutes, if that! My phone looks brand new and I am beyond pleased! This is one of the few reviews I've ever done about any business. I'm not the type who has time and the mind to write reviews but this time is different! I came to this "Apple authorized service provider " called Mobile Kangaroo in Pleasaton CA when I saw a 4-star review, to get help to back up data in my Macbook so in case it crashes I can restore it. Besides, it's been hard making appointment with Apple store due to Covid-19 pandemic. I just wanted to get things done before our baby arrival.  When I came back to pick up a few days later, they told us they couldn't back it up. Instead they could only transfer the data. Their reason at first was they needed a brand new blank backup drive to be able to do it. I told them my backup drive still has 1.62 TB remaining which should be sufficient. (Btw, when we dropped off, we specifically asked the tech to check to make sure the backup drive is okay to use before we left. He checked and said Yes.) This guy Brandon, manager or owner, came out and started using a different excuse saying "I think there must be someting wrong with your Macbook!" He was very loud and condescending. I asked what do you mean? I've never had any problem with my Macbook and it's never ever crashed or anything like that. He raised his voice even louder saying they're not able to backup our Macbook and it's going to be end of the conversation. I was in disbelief being on the receiving end of his temper.. only in just a few minutes into the conversation!! I told him I brought my Macbook here because I thought they're the expert and we paid for their service at drop off before they even start working on it. And boom, he started yelling and kicking me out. I was so shocked and being 8 months pregnant, I just couldn't deal with his temper anymore and left instantly. I was in disbelief about what just happened!! They're not able to complete their service and have the audacity to kick me out? I wanted to cry because I've never been in a situation like this. Never seen such an unreasonable and short temper individual like this guy. I left the shop feeling like I just got scammed $150 plus a slap in the face. We actually brought our Macbook to the actual Apple store later with the same backup drive and an Apple tech was able to do it in 30 minutes! Since Mobile Kangaroo is an Apple authorized service provider, the Apple tech gave me the number to complain about the incident saying they've also received multiple complaints about this place. I've always supported local small businesses but the service I received from this place was unacceptable and ridiculous beyond my comprehension. Be warned! read more

The display went black on my 7 year old MacBookPro. The Apple Store told me it would cost around $550 to install a new display unit. I brought it to Joel at Mobile Kangaroo and he had the screen back to life in less than 30 minutes. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and didn't charge me anything, since no actual repairs were done. I will definitely come back if I have a serious problem with the notebook. read more

Got my iPhone 5 screen repaired from these guys. Within 2 months, a hairline crack appeared on the screen; and it broke in 4 months. I got the screen replaced by another shop today. When they opened the phone, they found missing screws. Mobile Kangaroo took them out but didn't put them back in. In addition, Mobile Kangaroo removed a metal strip behind the screen and never put it back. Without this strip, the screen can shake loose and go dark with a mild to medium fall. Avoid these guys. There are plenty of other repair services in the area that do a much better job at a lower price. read more

Not great customer service. I have had them fix three iPads. Twice the iPads weren't even working when I picked them up. Each time they told me they will be ready at a specific time and that they will call me if they are ready sooner. No call and when I came in at the specific time they weren't completed, all three times!! Seems like they train young low-tech people to do their work. read more

Found the same thing they were charging $85 for online for just $4.50, bought it today and will do the fix myself, outrageous prices and they take forever to respond, picked mine up today without it getting fixed because I found it for $4.50 online. So I finally did take my phone back, and it turns out they had moved a sensor around or something. It wasn't doing it's job but still remained turned on for some reason. I had to leave it for another hour but to my surprise it was fixed when I returned. The battery seemed to be back to normal and it was no longer overheating. The sensor was working correctly again and the little red light that was always on (the sensor) turned off by itself when it wasn't being used. Bare bones kind place but they get the work done. Whatever time they tell you, count on 2hs later. The kids who do the jobs are pretty nonchalant, so don't expect no warm fuzzies and expect to pay premium price for repair. I would go back again but only if it were most convenient. read more

Wouldn't recommend anyone take their phones here. Almost immediately after picking up my iPhone 6+ the screen began lifting, eventually the lifting caused damage to my screen. They refused to honor the warranty due to the damage caused by faulty work and parts. Awesome repair place! I dropped my iPhone in water and dried it in rice for a couple of days, but it wasn't tuning on. I was helped by Randall who advised me to wait a couple more days to let it completely dry(as it was still on the inside when he opened it) and bring it back to have it cleaned and replace with new battery. I dropped my iPhone 5 yesterday and broke the glass screen cover. I found Mobile Kangaroo on Yelp and the reviews generally seemed very positive. I called them up this afternoon and confirmed they had a replacement screen cover in stock. I drove over and 30 minutes later my iPhone appears to be as good as new. They charged less than the place at Stoneridge Mall that is not well reviewed. Color me happy. read more

Randell helped me fix my son's ipad screen because it was starting to tweak. After replacing the screen, he told me he didn't have the screen protector but if I got one, I can come back and he would help me put it on. So a couple of weeks later I brought in the protector and an ipad case and Randell put both of them on for me at no charge. I thought that was pretty cool. I like this place especially the two guys who worked over the weekend. The were very nice, patient and helpful. Randall on the other hand is awful. He lied to be about sending my phone into Apple as the next day he called me back telling me Apple did not allow him too. He called me the day before to ask me to remove find my iPhone so he can send it in but he did not. Why would you call someone to tell them to remove something so they can send in your phone and don't do it. He knew the day I dropped off my phone I was calling Apple to inform them that it was coming. The guys are great here and knowledgeable but I would not recommend this mobile kangaroo to anyone. There are others and plus the Genius Bar is always a good option. I did report them to Apple and how Randall lied to me about sending my phone. He just didn't want to deal with it and pushed back on me to call Apple. If enough people complain about this mobile kangaroo ; Apple may no longer use them. read more
