Good portion size, average prices. I actually really like their mixed seafood with Japanese tofu, which comes with fresh puffy tofu and a decent amount of fish fillets, shrimp, and squid; it's not all veggies no meat. Also had the dried chili chicken here which was a decent, not spectacular, rendition. Each order comes with rice but can probably feed you for two meals if you order an extra cup or make an extra one at home, which should be the norm for solid chinese restaurants. Anyhow, those two dishes were good, so if they're consistent the rest of the menu should deliver as well. Had dinner here with the family not long ago. Was a Friday evening around 5ish. Surprisingly​, not busy. There was only us, and another table, however, ​our food took a good 20-30 mins to arrive. I noticed their takeout​ orders were given priority over us, the dine-in​ orders. You'd think that the in diners would be more important to take care of first. My family and I have lived in Chicago for a little more than a year. I'm super thankful that there's a high quality, authentic Chinese restaurant right around the corner from us. Ordered take out from ML Kitchen and I was expecting higher quality especially since the restaurant looked really nice. Got the orange chicken and baked rice with seafood and curry sauce. The ordering process was very easy and the food was ready to be picked up in 20 minutes. Orange chicken was a bit too sweet. The good portion but didn't come with any type of veggie - just literally chicken and rice (we subbed lo-mien instead). The lo mien was something we asked instead of rice and was charged a $2 fee for. The noodles was not seasoned at all with anything. The baked seafood rice with curry sauce flavor was ok. The seafood was fried beforehand which I was disappointed in. No point in frying something only to slather a heavy sauce over it - just makes it unhealthier. I would've loved to see them use fresh seafood instead. The portion was huge which was the one positive. Unfortunately no veggie with this dish so I didn't feel super healthy eating it. I was hoping it might rival the quality of Joy Yee's but this place felt short and I'm not sure I'd come back...especially with a better option down the street. read more

This was a great Chinese restaurant, situated in a very convenient location near UIC campus. They also had free parking nearby which was very nice to see. Food: I had the napa cabbage, orange chicken, seafood with Japanese tofu, sizzling beef tenderloin, and xiao long bao. Of those, I highly reccomend the seafood with Japanese tofu. All were very delicious, but the orange chicken was a little underwhelming. Panda Express orange chicken honestly tasted better. Decor: 5 stars for decor. Very nice and feels modern. Service: Service was average, nothing special. The server didn't even speak that much, not sure if she didn't speak english or not. But everything came out correctly and timely. no complaints. Price: Average for a sit down chinese restaurant. Overall: Came out satisfied with my meal and had a good experience. It's my first time trying Sichuan cuisine. My friend recommended the salt and pepper chicken wings and it was delicious. The nappa cabbage in chili sauce was my favorite. Food is tastes good, could be oily for some. They accommodate extra spicy requests. I Have had better veg fried rice before but the gravies are pretty good. Ive ordered a couple dishes, a couple times from ML kitchen. I'd definitely recommend ordering sit-down over takeout, cause he atmosphere is completely gorgeous. From the Woden table dividers to the gorgeous tiling, this place is gorgeous. The meal deals for lunch and dinner are an amazing bargain. Every dish I've had in the couple times I've dined in or ordered out were of quality. I really like the chili chicken and the orange chicken. The chow mean is perfect and crunchy. The only thing I've been meh about was the coconut chicken baked rice with the Portuguese sauce wasn't my favorite, but I still finished up the left over through the week. Service is quick and kind. On the basis of the food only, this would be a three-star review. However, these guys get an extra point for a speedy delivery late on a Saturday night. Ordered at 12:55am with a 1:40am - 1:50am delivery estimate on Grubhub and the food appeared just before 1:30am. I was very happy with that. On to the point of food, I ordered the Mongolian Beef Combo and the Szechuan Eggplant. The beef dish was really nice, if perhaps a little small. The eggplant dish was tasty as well, however it was cooked and delivered in way too much oil. I think half the oil would have been sufficient and correct. Overall, this place hit the spot. read more

It has very basic items nothing special, a little known secret is that there is a very good (and cheaper) Thai place called Khoasan just a block down from ML. The duck is really good here (my uncle is a food snob and he loves the duck) and probably the best crab Rangoon I've ever tasted, and I usually never order crab Rangoon. Nice sized portions also. One of our dishes was forgotten and we had to communicate this to more than one person before the issue was resolved. They may have been training a new waitress.
