Disappointing experience. I've been doing my tour of salad restaurants all around the Bay Area and this was the most disappointing. Service was very quick. I ordered The Beetnik, it was so quick that it lead me to check the ingredients before I left. No beets to be found. For a $22 dollar salad it needs to be done correctly. I brought it back and they added the beets, but I won't be coming back. If I have to check for every ingredient every time it's not work 20 plus dollars to me. Also, they were the least friendly of all staff I've encountered and it was the least appealing salad I've had so far. read more

This was the absolute WORST salad I've ever had because of old chicken and a sickening dressing. I threw most of it away. Even the ice tea was mediocre. I've still got an upset stomach hours later. I've been sick and nauseated all afternoon. I will never go back here again!!! read more

Go to Whole Foods a block away and buy the ingredients and make your own salad. This place is awful. I ordered a Beatnik Salad and there literally are no beets. I thought this place was terrible! Like a McDonald's of salad restaurants. The place is quite sterile inside, the workers were bored, but more importantly the food looked disgusting. I ordered a chicken sandwich on a torpedo roll. The roll looked small and stale, the food was falling out of the roll. Really, a chicken sandwich at 7-11 would be way better. read more

Underwhelming to say the least. Orders included the Elote and Puebla salads and the grilled chicken sandwich. No taste. Everything cut in small slivers and cubes, dressing had no flavor, no acid. The roll for the sandwich is soft, white and tasteless. No fresh herbs in any of the dishes. A little pesto but definitely not enough moisture in the sandwich. read more

The quality of the food was really good in fact ... my boyfriend has proposed going back several times and he isn't even a salad guy! The ingredients are fantastic, and the staff keeps up with the rush, no problem. Sit outside on the patio, which has nicer furniture than inside and it's a little bit quieter. read more

I was so excited to have this open within walking distance of my home. Sadly, it is not as good as the one in SF. The service is terrible and the salads are meh. The ingredients look the same but the prep is not! Last time I order from here it was great, and I loved my salad, but this time I ordered the exact same thing and it was missing so many items. This is my new favorite restaurant in Mill Valley. On the East Coast, they have a salad chain called Chopt and I was so sad that they didn't have it on the West Coast. I used to eat at the Mixt in the financial district and am thrilled to have them in the neighborhood now that I work from home. I stopped in on their 2nd day about 30 minutes before they closed. The employees were in a good mood, joking and smiling, and the food was fresh and fabulous as always. I got the peachy salad and a side of the fried cauliflower. My other favorites are the sandwiches and the falaf salad, but I've never had a bad meal here. Their cookies are great too. They will be on our rotation for sure! read more

I am so glad MIXT is finally in Marin! I have enjoyed it in the city while working as one of my go to lunch spots and now when I work from home I can get the same great salads! It's also such a treat to be able to get the crispy chicken on my salad (balance right?). They did an amazing job renovating the building and it's really nice to have another place with outdoor seating. I highly recommend the Beetnik or the Napa w/ chicken which are my two regulars. Also the Arnold palmer is perfectly tart and sweet at the same time. read more

I'm revising my review to let people know what a fabulous restaurant this is. Their selection of salad ingredients is probably the best anywhere. If you're like me (not the type to enjoy concoctions design engineered by the restaurant), you can design your own salad with every possible selection you can think of, including every dressing imaginable and a variety of protein choices. My favorite protein of theirs is their "crispy chicken". I don't know how they make it, but it's like no other. Crispy without being greasy and oh so tender and yummy. I always get it in my salad. If salad isn't your thing, they offer a crispy chicken sandwich on a yummy roll with a tasty but gratefully not sloppy spread, their genius crispy chicken, sliced apples, cole slaw and pickles. It's way way better than any of the "fried chicken" sandwiches I've had at several other nearby restaurants, some of which specialize in fried chicken sandwiches. It is well worth going there if you want your dose of "healthy" to be really "tasty". read more

I've been a MIXT fan for years and am SO happy that they opened in my hometown. The salads are so fresh with such awesome ingredients. Yesterday I enjoyed the Puebla on opening day. I can't stop thinking about the roasted poblano dressing and honey sweet potatoes - so good! I also need to mention the beautiful restaurant design. I was so disappointed the last time I ate at MIXT in Mill Valley. Ordered 3 salads for pick-up, only to find each container LESS than half full. The taste of the ingredients felt off, too. My husband and I had lunch at this new spot over the weekend. The restaurant was clean, bright and cheery. The person at the counter was courteous, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the Elote salad. It was delicious!! The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked. I loved the grilled corn and cotija cheese and the pumpkin seeds and jicama added wonderful texture. The lime crema dressing had the perfect flavors to bring it all together. My husband ate the Classic Crispy sandwich. Crispy chicken with house pickles, herb mayo and a toasted bun. Not a crumb was left! We shared a canned rose and some agua fresca to wash it all down. We will definitely be back! read more

I've had Mixt in SF and was excited to try this new location. The space is nice - really lovely outside patio and a cool carrot mural by fnnch! I got my favorite summer salad, the Peachy, and it was delicious as always. That combo of peaches and cornbread crumbles (plus lots of fresh veggies) with the sriracha ranch and maple bbq drizzle - summer heaven in a bowl! My mom loved her Elote and we both enjoyed our toffee cookies for dessert. Everyone was super friendly. It was a fresh, delicious, filling lunch in a pleasant and friendly environment. Picked up a salad that ended in a not so good situation for me and my spouse. The lettuce was wilted and not fresh at all. We both got sick after eating only a few bites. We tossed most of it in the compost bin. When the company was contacted via email, a customer service staff member did nothing except make us out to be liars. It was expressed how freshness is the number one priority sorry. Did not even offer a replacement voucher even though they had a copy of the reThis establishment has lost two more customers. Walking in, it was unclear where to place your order. So I walked to the cashier and she just told me I couldn't order from her, but let me stand in the wrong spot in front of her. So when someone else came in and stood in line (at the opposite end from where the cashier stands), I got the picture myself. I was getting a salad for someone else, and the person making the salad asked if I wanted to try a dressing. She handed me a dressing cup with some lettuce in it, which at first I thought was nice. But Apparently, that container was the ONLY container and only dressing they could spare. First, they didn't give me a lid for the dressing (salad was to-go). then I was told I could throw the extra lettuce in the dressing container out myself, and ultimately I was told I would have to pay 50 cents for a new container with dressing (which I requested since it the lid had been handled by the cashier without gloves and there were lettuce pieces covered in dressing that I would have to take out with my fingers, when the dressing was for someone else). Sheesh. I threw the dressing out along with any kind thoughts and intention to come back. read more

Wow. I had been meaning to stop by Mixt and lunch today was the opportunity. Although there are plenty of good reasons to go freestyle, I ordered a pre-designed salad, the Zesty. It was delicious....fresh ingredients, nicely balanced components, good dressing. And I like that it was served in a ceramic bowl rather than a throwaway container (even tho it would have been their compostable takeout container ). Service was quick and efficient. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are clean and inviting. I am quite impressed. read more

I was looking forward to this new restaurant. I went today for lunch and they were more employees there than they were customers. However, none of the employees were working to process the orders. They were very rude and yelled at me to move and then yelled at me to move again. Finally, there was maximum confusion around the making of my salad. The salad. Was very nondescript. I tried Mixt a couple months ago and it was terrible. The Brussel sprouts were brown and wilted and they tasted rotten. I pulled them all out and ate the rest of the salad, which was terrible. A couple days ago I ate there again thinking my first experience was a one-off. It wasn't and the salad was worse than the first one. The server misheard me and thought I asked for olives. Since there were several ingredients already in the salad, I told her just to leave them so they didn't have to throw out the salad. However, the server deducted the olives from the 5 ingredients I was allowed. I had them add pesto, which was a huge mistake as it tasted nothing like pesto and instead tasted like pure brine, making the salad too salty and inedible. The tomatoes were far beyond the time they should even be offered. Normally I would have tomatoes on my salad but I skipped them because they were over-ripe and mushy. Add to all this, I was surprised to see an additional charge for "employee benefit surcharge." None of the employees knew what it was and there were no signs explaining the additional charge. Their website does not mention the surcharge anywhere. It's an over-priced restaurant that serves expired ingredients, which makes their salads at best, taste awful and at worst, totally inedible. read more

I was so excited, when I saw that Mixt was going to open a store in Mill Valley. I loved the big portions from both SF and Oakland stores. So today I was able to place an order for 2 salads by delivery. After the two salads arrived, I am so honestly disappointed by the small amount of mixed greens and veggies in the salads, compared to the large size I remember from SF and Oakland. The food is fresh, but the portion is so small that unfortunately I cannot order them again. read more
